protestant_n concern_v the_o gift_n of_o the_o spirit_n by_o which_o particular_a christian_n be_v enable_v to_o know_v and_o believe_v the_o scripture_n and_o to_o be_v full_o persuade_v and_o assure_v of_o the_o truth_n and_o true_a meaning_n of_o they_o and_o as_o for_o you_o say_v he_o to_o master_n walker_n it_o be_v well_o for_o you_o that_o you_o have_v such_o a_o infallible_a spirit_n which_o do_v enable_v you_o to_o discern_v the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o do_v more_o assure_v you_o of_o the_o truth_n thereof_o than_o the_o public_a testimony_n of_o the_o church_n but_o pardon_v we_o if_o we_o hold_v it_o doubtful_a see_v we_o have_v no_o more_o but_o your_o own_o word_n for_o it_o mr._n walker_n yea_o and_o i_o will_v have_v your_o word_n profess_v the_o same_o of_o in_o our_o church_n be_v the_o true_a word_n of_o god_n i_o be_v not_o able_a to_o judge_v of_o it_o myself_o believe_v it_o so_o to_o be_v upon_o their_o word_n and_o authority_n for_o the_o reverend_a respect_n and_o esteem_v which_o i_o have_v of_o they_o afterward_o they_o cause_v i_o to_o frequent_v the_o church_n and_o to_o hear_v that_o word_n read_v and_o expound_v by_o learned_a preacher_n and_o tell_v i_o that_o i_o ought_v to_o believe_v what_o i_o hear_v out_o of_o it_o preach_v in_o the_o church_n and_o so_o i_o do_v for_o i_o believe_v the_o preacher_n publish_v that_o word_n in_o so_o much_o that_o partly_o by_o their_o exhortation_n and_o partly_o out_o of_o a_o care_n which_o i_o have_v of_o my_o soul_n health_n and_o in_o a_o desire_n of_o god_n favour_n and_o blessing_n which_o be_v thereunto_o promise_v i_o do_v even_o from_o my_o youth_n give_v my_o mind_n to_o read_v and_o learn_v the_o scripture_n howsoever_o i_o must_v confess_v that_o at_o the_o first_o and_o in_o my_o childish_a year_n i_o do_v find_v but_o little_a savour_n &_o sweetness_n in_o the_o most_o profitable_a part_n of_o the_o scripture_n such_o as_o david_n psalm_n salomon_n proverb_n the_o book_n of_o the_o prophet_n the_o epistle_n of_o the_o apostle_n and_o such_o like_a yea_o though_o i_o believe_v that_o they_o be_v god_n word_n yet_o by_o reason_n of_o my_o natural_a corruption_n i_o do_v take_v more_o pleasure_n and_o delight_n in_o poetical_a fable_n and_o feign_a history_n which_o do_v feed_v my_o corruption_n and_o be_v a_o kind_n of_o fuel_n to_o my_o sinful_a lust_n and_o vanity_n nevertheless_o whether_o it_o be_v i_o own_o conscience_n urge_v i_o or_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n which_o move_v i_o i_o can_v certain_o tell_v but_o sure_o i_o be_o that_o still_o i_o do_v upon_o the_o testimony_n and_o authority_n of_o my_o parent_n and_o teacher_n reverence_v the_o scripture_n as_o god_n word_n and_o force_v myself_o to_o read_v they_o contrary_a to_o my_o rebellious_a nature_n and_o at_o length_n when_o i_o come_v to_o more_o ripe_a year_n i_o find_v that_o the_o word_n which_o be_v most_o opposite_a and_o distasteful_a to_o my_o sinful_a corruption_n do_v work_v upon_o i_o most_o strong_o and_o effectual_o which_o be_v a_o infallible_a token_n of_o god_n hand_n in_o it_o and_o a_o sure_a sign_n of_o the_o divine_a power_n and_o supernatural_a excellency_n thereof_o i_o feel_v the_o promise_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o the_o word_n of_o the_o prophet_n and_o apostle_n which_o before_o have_v little_a relish_n begin_v by_o god_n grace_n to_o be_v most_o sweet_a and_o comfortable_a in_o all_o cross_n and_o affliction_n and_o to_o be_v most_o profitable_a by_o strengthen_v i_o with_o the_o spirit_n of_o prayer_n and_o faith_n against_o temptation_n by_o mortify_v my_o fleshly_a corruption_n and_o by_o reform_v my_o life_n so_o that_o i_o begin_v to_o rejoice_v in_o the_o scripture_n more_o than_o in_o any_o
