the_o party_n that_o be_v for_o they_o and_o to_o weaken_v that_o which_o be_v against_o they_o and_o thus_o he_o divide_v the_o kingdom_n and_o family_n of_o christ_n he_o destroy_v first_o the_o love_n of_o his_o brother_n and_o neighbour_n in_o himself_o and_o then_o labour_v to_o destroy_v it_o in_o all_o other_o by_o speak_v against_o those_o that_o be_v not_o of_o his_o way_n with_o contempt_n and_o obloquy_n to_o represent_v they_o as_o a_o unlovely_a sort_n of_o man_n and_o if_o the_o interest_n of_o his_o cause_n and_o party_n do_v require_v it_o perhaps_o he_o will_v next_o opinion_n their_o religion_n their_o party_n and_o make_v their_o duty_n and_o their_o sin_n and_o rule_v their_o judgement_n affection_n and_o their_o action_n which_o be_v all_o but_o the_o same_o thing_n which_o the_o scripture_n in_o one_o word_n call_v heresy_n and_o all_o that_o i_o have_v say_v you_o may_v find_v say_v in_o other_o word_n in_o the_o three_o chapter_n of_o james._n and_o there_o be_v two_o thing_n which_o great_o promote_v this_o sin_n the_o one_o be_v a_o conceit_n that_o all_o their_o apprehension_n be_v the_o spirit_n dictate_v or_o the_o effect_n of_o its_o illumination_n and_o the_o work_n and_o teach_n of_o the_o spirit_n be_v not_o to_o be_v contradict_v or_o suspect_v but_o to_o be_v honour_v therefore_o they_o think_v that_o it_o be_v a_o resist_n of_o the_o spirit_n to_o resist_v their_o judgement_n and_o they_o be_v persuade_v that_o their_o apprehension_n be_v cause_v by_o the_o spirit_n partly_o because_o they_o have_v no_o such_o thing_n while_o they_o live_v in_o wickedness_n but_o it_o come_v in_o either_o with_o their_o change_n or_o short_o after_o and_o therefore_o they_o think_v that_o the_o same_o light_n which_o show_v they_o their_o sinful_a state_n do_v show_v they_o also_o all_o these_o principle_n and_o partly_o because_o they_o find_v themselves_o as_o deep_o â—ffected_v with_o these_o misapprehension_n as_o with_o other_o which_o be_v sound_a and_o right_a therefore_o they_o be_v confident_a that_o they_o come_v from_o the_o same_o spirit_n and_o special_o when_o these_o thought_n come_v in_o upon_o the_o read_n of_o the_o scripture_n or_o in_o meditation_n or_o after_o earnest_a prayer_n to_o god_n to_o teach_v they_o by_o his_o spirit_n and_o lead_v they_o into_o the_o truth_n and_o not_o to_o suffer_v they_o to_o err_v and_o when_o they_o find_v that_o they_o have_v good_a end_n and_o meaning_n and_o a_o desire_n to_o know_v the_o truth_n all_o thâ—s_n persuade_v they_o that_o it_o be_v the_o spirit_n from_o who_o their_o thought_n proceed_v when_o yet_o it_o may_v be_v no_o such_o thing_n and_o another_o much_o great_a and_o commoner_n cause_n of_o this_o self-conceitedness_n be_v this_o all_o man_n understanding_n be_v natural_o imperfect_a our_o knowledge_n about_o natural_a thing_n be_v small_a and_o dark_a much_o more_o about_o thing_n supernatural_a the_o wise_a must_v suspicion_n for_o all_o the_o part_n which_o be_v unseen_a that_o which_o i_o see_v affect_v i_o as_o a_o thing_n see_v but_o that_o which_o i_o see_v not_o be_v nothing_o to_o i_o and_o therefore_o affect_v i_o not_o at_o all_o that_o part_n which_o i_o know_v i_o know_v that_o it_o be_v &_o so_o far_o what_o it_o be_v it_o be_v in_o my_o mind_n &_o memory_n but_o that_o part_n which_o i_o know_v not_o i_o know_v not_o that_o it_o be_v or_o know_v not_o what_o it_o be_v so_o that_o see_v one_o part_n of_o thing_n and_o not_o see_v another_o yea_o perhaps_o many_o other_o do_v not_o only_o cause_v our_o error_n in_o judge_v of_o they_o but_o also_o make_v it_o very_o hard_a to_o question_v or_o distrust_v our_o judgement_n for_o we_o must_v not_o be_v sceptic_n and_o doubt_n of_o all_o thing_n nor_o must_v we_o deny_v belief_n to_o so_o much_o as_o be_v reveal_v to_o we_o and_o therefore_o however_o at_o the_o present_a we_o apprehend_v thing_n just_o such_o we_o be_v usual_o confident_a that_o they_o be_v and_o in_o this_o difficulty_n all_o error_n and_o the_o lamentable_a consequence_n of_o it_o do_v come_v in_o but_o what_o shall_v a_o man_n do_v in_o so_o hard_a a_o straight_a why_o this_o every_o humble_a man_n must_v do_v he_o must_v tread_v safe_o and_o proceed_v wary_o and_o try_v the_o spirit_n and_o try_v the_o doctrine_n offer_v he_o thorough_o and_o this_o by_o all_o the_o mean_n which_o god_n have_v appoint_v he_o for_o that_o use_n he_o must_v not_o strive_v against_o the_o light_n but_o he_o must_v take_v heed_n of_o take_v darkness_n for_o that_o it_o be_v still_o with_o a_o defective_a sight_n and_o that_o you_o see_v but_o in_o part_n and_o therefore_o allow_v a_o freedom_n in_o your_o understanding_n to_o receive_v the_o rest_n you_o be_v certain_a that_o you_o see_v not_o all_o that_o be_v to_o be_v see_v of_o any_o doctrine_n or_o science_n any_o more_o than_o of_o any_o creature_n and_o you_o be_v uncertain_a what_o influence_n the_o unknown_a part_n will_v have_v upon_o that_o part_n which_o you_o know_v or_o what_o alteration_n it_o will_v make_v upon_o your_o apprehension_n if_o you_o see_v they_o altogether_o in_o their_o connexion_n therefore_o be_v sure_a that_o in_o your_o most_o confident_a apprehension_n you_o never_o forget_v that_o there_o be_v still_o much_o more_o unknown_a to_o you_o than_o you_o yet_o know_v and_o this_o will_v preserve_v a_o humility_n and_o modesty_n in_o your_o understanding_n and_o a_o capacity_n and_o fitness_n to_o receive_v more_o knowledge_n when_o the_o forget_v of_o this_o will_v make_v you_o proud_a and_o arrogant_a and_o presumptuous_a and_o like_o the_o fool_n that_o rage_v and_o be_v confident_a even_o in_o your_o ignorance_n and_o shame_n and_o will_v shut_v up_o your_o mind_n against_o that_o knowledge_n which_o you_o want_v but_o especial_o if_o you_o know_v that_o your_o advantage_n for_o knowledge_n have_v be_v less_o than_o other_o man_n that_o you_o be_v young_a or_o that_o it_o be_v but_o a_o few_o year_n since_o you_o enter_v upon_o the_o study_n of_o the_o scripture_n or_o that_o you_o have_v not_o any_o strong_a natural_a part_n than_o other_o man_n or_o that_o you_o have_v not_o have_v that_o measure_n of_o learning_n which_o may_v further_o your_o knowledge_n of_o the_o holy_a scripture_n but_o that_o other_o that_o differ_v from_o you_o have_v have_v much_o more_o of_o all_o these_o help_n and_o mean_n than_o you_o common_a reason_n here_o command_v you_o to_o be_v modest_a and_o not_o over-confident_a in_o your_o own_o opinion_n nor_o too_o much_o to_o slight_v the_o judgement_n of_o such_o other_o especial_o if_o those_o that_o differ_v from_o you_o be_v not_o only_o more_o learned_a but_o as_o true_o conscionable_a as_o you_o and_o as_o like_a to_o be_v unfeigned_a lover_n of_o truth_n and_o have_v pray_v more_o and_o meditate_a more_o and_o have_v have_v more_o religious_a experience_n than_o yourselves_o and_o yet_o more_o if_o they_o be_v the_o great_a number_n of_o the_o godly_a that_o differ_v from_o you_o and_o you_o be_v singular_a in_o your_o conceit_n in_o this_o case_n rash_a confidence_n in_o your_o own_o opinion_n be_v too_o palpable_a a_o sign_n of_o a_o religious_a pride_n obj._n but_o the_o learn_a man_n be_v not_o always_o the_o wise_a in_o the_o matter_n of_o religion_n answ._n many_o man_n be_v learned_a in_o the_o language_n and_o science_n who_o be_v not_o learned_a in_o the_o scripture_n because_o they_o apply_v not_o their_o study_n that_o way_n and_o many_o man_n be_v learned_a in_o the_o scripture_n and_o the_o sacred_a tongue_n who_o yet_o live_v in_o sin_n though_o they_o be_v able_a to_o teach_v the_o truth_n for_o other_o but_o those_o that_o well_o understand_v the_o scripture_n without_o learn_v the_o language_n which_o they_o be_v write_v in_o and_o the_o custom_n of_o those_o time_n and_o country_n or_o without_o much_o read_n and_o long_a study_n both_o of_o the_o scripture_n themselves_o and_o the_o write_n of_o they_o that_o better_o understand_v they_o be_v so_o few_o so_o very_a few_o if_o any_o at_o all_o that_o if_o you_o will_v pretend_v to_o be_v one_o of_o they_o you_o have_v need_n of_o some_o miracle_n or_o something_o like_o a_o miracle_n to_o make_v yourselves_o or_o other_o be-believe_a that_o you_o be_v not_o deceive_v see_v what_o i_o have_v say_v of_o this_o at_o large_a in_o my_o unreasonableness_n of_o infidelity_n obj._n the_o great_a number_n be_v not_o always_o in_o the_o right_a therefore_o why_o
