much_o more_o will_v confute_v all_o profane_a contempt_n of_o trial_n of_o ourselves_o let_v god_n speak_v and_o let_v all_o man_n be_v liar_n both_o left_a hand_n profaneness_n and_o right_a hand_n coherence_n so_o that_o by_o this_o chain_n of_o doctrine_n the_o last_o link_n whereof_o that_o be_v creation_n and_o the_o fall_n be_v the_o first_o in_o order_n and_o so_o downward_o every_o one_o may_v see_v that_o a_o mere_a receiver_n be_v not_o only_o to_o know_v the_o nature_n and_o use_n of_o the_o supper_n but_o of_o sin_n of_o the_o law_n of_o pardon_n christ_n and_o the_o new_a creature_n without_o which_o a_o sacrament_n several_o consider_v be_v a_o mere_a shred_n a_o idol_n a_o object_n of_o blind_a devotion_n to_o apply_v what_o i_o have_v say_v both_o negative_o and_o of_o grace_n needs_o it_o must_v follow_v that_o the_o lesser_a must_v be_v where_o the_o great_a must_v be_v i_o mean_v that_o knowledge_n there_o must_v be_v of_o all_o these_o where_o faith_n must_v be_v to_o give_v a_o man_n his_o special_a portion_n in_o they_o howbeit_o because_o now_o we_o be_v about_o the_o trial_n of_o knowledge_n apart_o from_o the_o other_o and_o doubtless_o many_o both_o minister_n and_o people_n teach_v and_o hear_v this_o point_n of_o knowledge_n as_o a_o thing_n sufficient_a to_o enable_v a_o receiver_n though_o i_o abhor_v their_o opinion_n as_o shall_v appear_v in_o the_o sequel_n yet_o i_o will_v by_o this_o i_o have_v say_v stop_v the_o mouth_n of_o any_o such_o as_o dream_v of_o a_o knowledge_n which_o be_v not_o competent_a to_o salvation_n sure_o it_o be_v a_o knowledge_n incompetent_a for_o salvation_n can_v be_v competent_a for_o the_o supper_n a_o demand_n some_o might_n here_o perhaps_o ask_v how_o they_o may_v be_v direct_v to_o know_v these_o point_n sound_o to_o wit_n of_o the_o supper_n and_o sacrament_n and_o all_o those_o doctrine_n which_o they_o depend_v upon_o answer_n i_o answer_v that_o belong_v not_o to_o this_o chapter_n but_o the_o reader_n shall_v find_v they_o all_o handle_v in_o my_o practical_a catechism_n at_o large_a and_o brief_o touch_v in_o the_o second_o chapter_n of_o this_o second_o treatise_n and_o the_o doctrine_n of_o the_o sacrament_n especial_o the_o supper_n be_v handle_v at_o large_a in_o the_o former_a treatise_n the_o three_o last_o chapter_n to_o which_o i_o send_v the_o reader_n with_o this_o caution_n that_o i_o handle_v these_o thing_n at_o large_a here_o and_o there_o not_o to_o the_o end_n that_o my_o book_n shall_v never_o come_v into_o their_o hand_n save_v when_o they_o come_v to_o the_o sacrament_n for_o to_o what_o purpose_n be_v that_o but_o that_o they_o due_o exercise_v themselves_o in_o read_v of_o the_o whole_a that_o note_v those_o especial_a thing_n
