suffering_n be_v this_o they_o wander_v up_o and_o down_o in_o sheep_n skin_n and_o goat_n skin_n be_v destitute_a afflict_a and_o torment_v that_o be_v be_v either_o banish_v or_o constrain_v by_o zeal_n for_o the_o truth_n of_o the_o gospel_n quest._n if_o flight_n in_o persecution_n may_v be_v a_o action_n of_o faith_n whether_o may_v not_o the_o minister_n of_o god_n word_n fly_v in_o time_n of_o persecution_n answ._n there_o be_v some_o case_n wherein_o the_o minister_n may_v lawful_o fly_v 1_o when_o that_o particular_a church_n and_o congregation_n over_o which_o he_o be_v place_v be_v disperse_v by_o the_o enemy_n so_o as_o he_o have_v no_o hope_n to_o gather_v and_o call_v they_o back_o again_o then_o no_o doubt_n he_o may_v fly_v till_o his_o congregation_n be_v gather_v again_o 2_o if_o the_o persecutor_n do_v special_o

with_o these_o two_o caveat_n first_o that_o it_o serve_v for_o god_n glory_n second_o that_o it_o be_v for_o the_o good_a of_o gods_n church_n thus_o do_v jonas_n conceal_v the_o condition_n of_o mercy_n from_o the_o ninivites_fw-la when_o he_o preach_v destruction_n unto_o they_o say_v within_o forty_o day_n and_o niniveh_n shall_v be_v destroy_v though_o it_o be_v evident_a by_o the_o event_n that_o it_o be_v god_n will_v they_o shall_v be_v spare_v if_o they_o do_v repent_v but_o that_o condition_n god_n will_v have_v conceal_v because_o it_o will_v not_o have_v be_v for_o the_o speak_v of_o as_o we_o may_v read_v genesis_n 47_o be_v this_o when_o the_o time_n draw_v near_o that_o jacob_n must_v die_v he_o call_v for_o his_o son_n joseph_n and_o charge_v he_o deep_o that_o this_o special_a favour_n to_o make_v he_o her_o heir_n and_o therefore_o moses_n shall_v not_o thus_o have_v contemn_v her_o favour_n answer_n indeed_o it_o have_v be_v moses_n part_v to_o have_v displease_v god_n and_o do_v check_v and_o break_v the_o peace_n of_o a_o good_a conscience_n and_o if_o we_o look_v to_o enjoy_v like_o peace_n and_o comfort_n with_o they_o we_o must_v strive_v against_o our_o own_o corrupt_a disposition_n and_o labour_n to_o find_v sin_n to_o be_v our_o great_a sorrow_n worldly_n misery_n may_v affect_v we_o but_o in_o respect_n of_o sorrow_n for_o sin_n all_o worldly_a grief_n shall_v be_v light_n unto_o us._n indeed_o we_o be_v otherwise_o mind_v natural_o but_o herein_o we_o must_v show_v the_o power_n and_o truth_n of_o grace_n that_o to_o displease_v god_n by_o any_o sin_n be_v our_o great_a grief_n the_o second_o reason_n that_o move_v moses_n to_o refuse_v the_o honour_n and_o pleasure_n of_o pharaoh_n court_n be_v because_o he_o ready_a to_o leave_v they_o whensoever_o god_n shall_v call_v this_o same_o reason_n do_v paul_n render_v when_o he_o persuade_v the_o corinthian_n to_o the_o same_o duty_n 1._o cor._n 7.31_o use_v to_o have_v sound_a knowledge_n &_o understanding_n in_o the_o word_n of_o god_n for_o he_o that_o will_v walk_v upright_o and_o approve_v of_o god_n must_v be_v able_a to_o judge_v between_o thing_n that_o differ_v not_o only_o between_o good_a and_o evil_a but_o between_o good_a and_o good_a which_o be_v the_o better_a and_o so_o of_o evil_n which_o be_v the_o worse_a which_o no_o man_n can_v do_v but_o he_o that_o have_v a_o sound_n and_o right_a judgement_n in_o the_o word_n of_o god_n for_o therein_o be_v attain_v the_o spirit_n of_o discern_v many_o there_o be_v that_o by_o the_o course_n of_o their_o life_n choose_v hell_n and_o refuse_v heaven_n which_o undoubted_o come_v from_o their_o ignorance_n in_o the_o word_n but_o ignorance_n will_v excuse_v none_o he_o that_o will_v come_v to_o heaven_n must_v be_v able_a to_o discern_v good_a from_o evil_n and_o according_o to_o choose_v the_o good_a and_o to_o refuse_v that_o which_o be_v evil_a which_o without_o divine_a and_o supernatural_a knowledge_n no_o man_n can_v do_v and_o therefore_o all_o ignorant_a person_n and_o all_o such_o as_o be_v blind_v through_o the_o deceitfulness_n of_o sin_n must_v shake_v off_o their_o security_n and_o get_v sound_a knowledge_n in_o scripture_n with_o a_o good_a conscience_n that_o when_o thing_n which_o do_v differ_v be_v set_v before_o they_o they_o may_v with_o moses_n never_o lest_o go_v on_o secure_o without_o this_o account_n make_v we_o shameful_o forsake_v christ_n when_o trial_n come_v in_o former_a time_n the_o constant_a profession_n of_o christ_n have_v cost_v man_n loss_n of_o friend_n loss_n of_o good_n and_o liberty_n yea_o the_o loss_n of_o their_o heart_n blood_n and_o the_o same_o case_n may_v befall_v us._n wherefore_o we_o must_v cast_v with_o ourselves_o and_o see_v whether_o we_o be_v willing_a to_o suffer_v the_o loss_n of_o good_n and_o friend_n yea_o the_o loss_n of_o our_o life_n for_o the_o defence_n of_o christ_n true_a religion_n again_o as_o this_o estate_n of_o the_o church_n must_v move_v we_o to_o make_v this_o account_n for_o resolution_n in_o suffer_v so_o it_o must_v teach_v we_o to_o labour_v for_o those_o save_a grace_n of_o god_n spirit_n which_o may_v enable_v we_o to_o stand_v fast_o in_o all_o temptation_n trouble_n &_o persecution_n we_o must_v not_o content_v ourselves_o with_o blaze_a lamp_n wretched_a opinion_n for_o god_n dear_a child_n may_v be_v press_v down_o with_o manifold_a calamity_n second_o see_v faith_n in_o christ_n will_v support_v the_o soul_n under_o manifold_a cross_n be_v they_o never_o so_o grievous_a we_o must_v labour_v in_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n to_o have_v our_o heart_n root_v and_o ground_v in_o this_o faith_n and_o when_o affliction_n come_v we_o must_v strive_v to_o show_v forth_o the_o fruit_n and_o power_n of_o it_o by_o bear_v they_o patient_o and_o thus_o much_o of_o the_o several_a branch_n of_o affliction_n in_o this_o last_o example_n of_o believer_n verse_n 38._o who_o the_o world_n be_v not_o worthy_a of_o they_o wander_v in_o the_o wilderness_n and_o mountain_n and_o den_n and_o cave_n of_o the_o earth_n in_o these_o word_n the_o these_o be_v thing_n which_o lie_v heavy_a on_o man_n soul_n as_o weighty_a burden_n which_o press_v it_o down_o especial_o then_o when_o the_o soul_n shall_v lift_v up_o itself_o to_o seek_v heavenly_a thing_n so_o in_o the_o parable_n of_o the_o sour_a riches_n pleasure_n &_o care_n for_o the_o thing_n of_o this_o life_n be_v call_v thorn_n which_o choke_v the_o word_n of_o god_n in_o knowledge_n or_o obedience_n for_o where_o the_o heart_n be_v press_v down_o with_o the_o weight_n of_o these_o earthly_a thing_n there_o the_o word_n of_o god_n can_v take_v no_o place_n nor_o bring_v forth_o fruit_n and_o this_o be_v general_o true_a among_o we_o though_o we_o hear_v god_n word_n from_o year_n to_o year_n and_o thereby_o may_v increase_v in_o knowledge_n &_o obedience_n if_o we_o will_v yet_o in_o many_o there_o be_v little_a show_n of_o either_o and_o the_o cause_n be_v in_o these_o worldly_a care_n which_o take_v place_n in_o our_o heart_n for_o this_o be_v a_o most_o certain_a truth_n that_o so_o long_o as_o our_o heart_n be_v addict_v to_o the_o greedy_a seek_v after_o these_o earthly_a thing_n honour_n pleasure_n etc._n etc._n so_o long_o will_v the_o ground_n of_o our_o heart_n be_v barren_a the_o good_a seed_n of_o god_n word_n may_v be_v sow_v therein_o but_o little_a fruit_n shall_v come_v thereof_o save_o brier_n and_o weed_n which_o will_v increase_v our_o damnation_n again_o whereas_o the_o love_n of_o temporal_a life_n &_o care_n of_o earthly_a thing_n etc._n etc._n be_v sore_a burden_n press_v down_o a_o man_n heart_n from_o heaven_n to_o earth_n and_o make_v it_o heavy_a and_o sad_a and_o dead_a in_o regard_n of_o all_o spiritual_a exercise_n and_o contemplation_n hereby_o we_o be_v teach_v oftentimes_o to_o give_v ourselves_o to_o elevate_v and_o lift_v up_o our_o mind_n and_o heart_n to_o god_n partly_o by_o meditation_n in_o his_o word_n partly_o by_o invocation_n on_o his_o name_n and_o partly_o by_o thanksgiving_n same_o in_o holy_a duty_n why_o do_v god_n command_v the_o 7._o day_n to_o be_v sanctify_v and_o set_v apart_o from_o all_o bodily_a exercise_n &_o worldly_a care_n undoubted_o it_o be_v for_o this_o
