piece_n and_o only_o because_o we_o be_v not_o in_o the_o way_n wherein_o god_n have_v set_v we_o but_o if_o on_o the_o otherside_n we_o stand_v in_o the_o simplicity_n of_o our_o christian_a way_n and_o walk_v to_o deliberate_v and_o do_v all_o thing_n both_o in_o private_a and_o public_a by_o love_n and_o for_o holiness_n according_a to_o christ_n example_n than_o we_o be_v in_o our_o full_a strength_n arm_v with_o light_n and_o satan_n in_o the_o power_n of_o darkness_n can_v come_v near_o we_o or_o comprehend_v we_o and_o if_o it_o be_v not_o possible_a through_o our_o own_o default_n to_o put_v this_o counsel_n in_o practice_n among_o we_o who_o be_v convict_v of_o the_o truth_n thereof_o whether_o we_o be_v independent_o or_o presbyterian_o we_o be_v all_o alike_o guilty_a before_o god_n of_o our_o own_o ruin_n and_o of_o the_o general_a disturbance_n of_o this_o church_n and_o state_n i_o have_v speak_v as_o brief_o as_o i_o can_v contract_v my_o thought_n concern_v disease_n the_o remedy_n of_o the_o evil_a effect_n of_o our_o disease_n the_o remedy_n which_o will_v work_v a_o cure_n upon_o the_o cause_n of_o our_o disease_n now_o i_o must_v speak_v also_o a_o word_n of_o that_o which_o i_o conceive_v will_v be_v of_o use_n to_o prevent_v the_o dangerous_a effect_n thereof_o whereby_o our_o distemper_n be_v daily_o increase_v the_o disease_n in_o my_o conception_n be_v a_o distractednesse_n of_o spirit_n in_o a_o divide_a mind_n which_o have_v wrought_v a_o disjointing_a of_o our_o affection_n so_o that_o we_o stand_v as_o a_o tall_a man_n distract_v in_o his_o thought_n and_o divide_v in_o all_o his_o resolution_n who_o have_v no_o command_n or_o little_a use_n of_o any_o of_o his_o member_n because_o they_o be_v all_o out_o of_o joint_n and_o hang_v as_o it_o be_v loose_v one_o from_o another_o thus_o this_o church_n the_o tall_a of_o any_o reform_v in_o europe_n and_o fit_a to_o be_v a_o leader_n of_o the_o rest_n in_o the_o spiritual_a conquest_n of_o canaan_n do_v stand_v within_o itself_o and_o to_o other_o useless_a the_o effect_n of_o this_o our_o distraction_n and_o division_n which_o increase_n our_o disease_n and_o make_v it_o grow_v upon_o we_o be_v chief_o three_o first_a jealousy_n fear_n and_o evil_a surmise_n of_o every_o thing_n that_o be_v design_v by_o any_o party_n which_o be_v not_o our_o own_o second_o censure_n reproach_n dispute_n accusation_n and_o revile_n against_o the_o person_n and_o the_o action_n of_o a_o different_a party_n three_o opposition_n and_o cross_a proceed_n in_o counsel_n and_o attempt_n against_o all_o that_o be_v not_o exact_o in_o the_o way_n wherein_o that_o party_n do_v walk_v of_o which_o we_o be_v these_o three_o effect_n beget_v each_o other_o reciprocal_o not_o only_a in_o every_o man_n within_o himself_o and_o in_o every_o party_n within_o itself_o but_o in_o every_o man_n and_o party_n in_o relation_n to_o another_o as_o he_o stand_v at_o a_o distance_n from_o the_o same_o and_o all_o of_o these_o make_v our_o distemper_n almost_o past_a remedy_n nor_o can_v the_o one_o well_o be_v cure_v without_o the_o other_o and_o therefore_o the_o remedy_n must_v needs_o be_v such_o as_o can_v have_v a_o influence_n upon_o all_o at_o once_o to_o stop_v the_o current_n thereof_o upon_o our_o own_o and_o other_o man_n spirit_n if_o they_o shall_v prove_v successful_a towards_o a_o cure_n the_o field_n of_o this_o discourse_n be_v so_o large_a that_o i_o shall_v at_o this_o time_n but_o name_n only_o the_o head_n of_o thing_n which_o must_v become_v the_o ingredient_n of_o this_o physic_n leave_v the_o particular_a composition_n and_o application_n thereof_o unto_o some_o other_o time_n wherein_o god_n perhaps_o may_v give_v a_o call_n and_o grace_n to_o elaborate_v the_o same_o and_o this_o i_o shall_v do_v to_o give_v unto_o thou_o christian_a reader_n a_o object_n of_o prayer_n and_o meditation_n that_o thou_o may_v be_v
