law_n in_o or_o by_o which_o it_o be_v command_v as_o before_o be_v prove_v be_v abolish_v and_o swear_v now_o forbid_v by_o christ_n mat._n 5.34_o to_o all_o his_o disciple_n and_o again_o as_o have_v be_v before_o prove_v swear_v be_v never_o any_o essential_a part_n of_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n in_o spirit_n and_o truth_n because_o it_o be_v not_o any_o part_n of_o the_o law_n eternal_a christ_n forbid_v swear_v then_o it_o be_v either_o because_o it_o be_v repugnant_a to_o our_o duty_n to_o god_n or_o repugnant_a to_o our_o duty_n to_o our_o neighbour_n but_o some_o swear_v be_v neither_o repugnant_a to_o our_o duty_n to_o god_n who_o glory_n in_o sundry_a particular_n it_o advance_v nor_o repugnant_a to_o our_o duty_n to_o our_o neighbour_n to_o who_o thereby_o much_o day_n there_o be_v several_a kind_n or_o form_n of_o oath_n require_v by_o the_o national_a law_n and_o yet_o the_o bare_a attestation_n of_o the_o name_n of_o god_n without_o addition_n of_o somewhat_o more_o be_v not_o answerable_a to_o any_o of_o they_o neither_o do_v full_o answer_v the_o require_v of_o the_o law_n as_o the_o daily_a practice_n of_o the_o law_n in_o the_o court_n of_o judicature_n do_v manifest_a which_o practice_n do_v declare_v what_o a_o legal_a oath_n be_v in_o the_o judgement_n of_o the_o national_a law_n and_o for_o illegal_a oath_n a._n s._n i_o hope_v will_v not_o contend_v by_o which_o law_n also_o it_o do_v appear_v that_o the_o law_n do_v put_v a_o difference_n betwixt_o a_o oath_n or_o swear_v and_o witness-bearing_a and_o do_v not_o confound_v witness-bearing_a and_o not_o the_o substance_n for_o when_o the_o evidence_n be_v give_v if_o what_o be_v evidence_v be_v false_a the_o oath_n take_v before_o or_o after_o do_v not_o make_v it_o true_a and_o if_o it_o be_v truth_n that_o be_v evidence_v the_o refuse_v to_o take_v or_o add_v a_o oath_n or_o give_v a_o token_n sign_n or_o pledge_v do_v not_o detract_v any_o thing_n from_o it_o by_o which_o it_o may_v appear_v to_o the_o unprejudiced_a in_o mind_n that_o the_o lay_v aside_o of_o a_o oath_n and_o swear_v which_o be_v add_v for_o a_o time_n under_o the_o law_n in_o witness-bearing_a because_o man_n have_v transgress_v or_o go_v from_o the_o truth_n of_o god_n which_o be_v in_o the_o beginning_n before_o any_o oath_n be_v in_o witness-bearing_a be_v not_o to_o destroy_v true_a witness-bearing_a but_o the_o reduce_v it_o to_o its_o primitive_a purity_n as_o it_o be_v in_o the_o beginning_n so_o that_o the_o true_a witness_n christ_n jesus_n be_v make_v manifest_a all_o that_o believe_v in_o he_o and_o receive_v he_o to_o they_o he_o give_v power_n to_o become_v the_o son_n of_o god_n and_o by_o his_o spirit_n which_o be_v truth_n and_o lead_v into_o all_o truth_n he_o enable_v they_o to_o do_v the_o truth_n confess_v the_o truth_n and_o speak_v the_o truth_n from_o the_o heart_n unto_o their_o neighbour_n or_o before_o a_o magistrate_n in_o witness-bearing_a as_o it_o be_v write_v a_o good_a man_n out_o of_o the_o good_a treasure_n in_o his_o heart_n he_o bring_v forth_o good_a thing_n so_o that_o our_o neighbour_n
if_o he_o receive_v our_o testimony_n be_v truth_n he_o be_v not_o damnify_v by_o we_o although_o we_o may_v not_o swear_v at_o all_o or_o give_v he_o any_o outward_a sign_n or_o pledge_v which_o can_v add_v any_o thing_n in_o truth_n to_o the_o truth_n which_o we_o be_v willing_a and_o free_a to_o bear_v witness_n of_o and_o unto_o upon_o any_o just_a occasion_n neither_o can_v the_o magistrate_n be_v more_o assure_v of_o the_o truth_n of_o what_o be_v evidence_v by_o a_o oath_n than_o by_o a_o bare_a affirmation_n for_o as_o the_o one_o so_o the_o other_o may_v be_v true_a or_o false_a again_o i_o say_v that_o not_o only_o our_o neighbour_n be_v not_o prejudice_v by_o we_o because_o we_o may_v not_o add_v any_o sign_n token_n or_o pledge_v to_o the_o truth_n which_o we_o bear_v witness_n of_o and_o to_o but_o he_o be_v by_o true_a witness-bearing_a more_o advantage_v than_o he_o be_v or_o can_v be_v by_o swear_v when_o the_o evidence_n bear_v be_v not_o true_a which_o neither_o be_v nor_o ever_o be_v of_o the_o essence_n of_o true_a witness-bearing_a because_o true_a witness-bearing_a be_v before_o any_o oath_n or_o swear_v be_v for_o there_o may_v be_v and_o have_v be_v many_o time_n oath_n and_o swear_v in_o judicial_a proceed_n when_o the_o evidence_n give_v upon_o such_o oath_n have_v not_o be_v true_a but_o false_a and_o so_o man_n thereby_o have_v and_o do_v suffer_v prejudice_n but_o when_o and_o where_o true_a witness_n be_v bear_v and_o receive_v although_o a_o oath_n be_v deny_v or_o not_o give_v yet_o hereby_o man_n be_v advantage_v and_o receive_v benefit_n and_o no_o prejudice_n at_o all_o for_o where_o a_o true_a testimony_n be_v bear_v there_o none_o ever_o do_v or_o can_v thereby_o receive_v loss_n again_o christ_n jesus_n be_v come_v to_o restore_v and_o establish_v everlasting_a righteousness_n in_o the_o new_a covenant_n that_o be_v faultless_a and_o so_o unchangeable_a and_o oath_n and_o sear_v not_o be_v faultless_a and_o so_o changeable_a not_o be_v from_o everlasting_a but_o add_v for_o a_o time_n because_o of_o transgression_n as_o be_v before_o say_v it_o be_v expedient_a that_o all_o swear_v with_o those_o ordain_v to_o offer_v etc._n etc._n heb._n 8_o 3._o and_o that_o after_o the_o second_o veil_n be_v the_o tabernacle_n which_o be_v not_o be_v call_v the_o holy_a of_o all_o heb._n 9.3_o and_o when_o
