you_o never_o a_o word_n to_o put_v in_o their_o mouth_n they_o have_v more_o need_n of_o argument_n than_o any_o what_o shall_v they_o say_v answ_n 1._o i_o shall_v premise_v that_o its_o the_o we_o have_v no_o grace_n yet_o this_o i_o say_v it_o be_v more_o than_o careless_a christian_n can_v tell_v whether_o they_o have_v any_o grace_n or_o no_o though_o such_o may_v have_v grace_n yet_o they_o can_v have_v no_o assurance_n he_o that_o find_v that_o the_o great_a care_n of_o his_o life_n be_v how_o to_o please_v the_o lord_n be_v of_o god_n try_v yourselves_o by_o this_o mark_n also_o do_v not_o inquire_v only_o about_o your_o affection_n what_o your_o desire_n be_v or_o what_o your_o joy_n be_v what_o your_o comfort_n be_v or_o what_o your_o peace_n be_v but_o what_o your_o path_n be_v when_o all_o come_v to_o all_o this_o be_v the_o sure_a mark_n he_o that_o do_v righteousness_n be_v righteous_a he_o that_o do_v not_o righteousness_n be_v not_o of_o god_n put_v all_o these_o man_n seem_v to_o be_v religious_a and_o bridle_v not_o his_o tongue_n but_o deceive_v his_o own_o heart_n this_o man_n religion_n be_v vain_a a_o dreadful_a word_n there_o be_v many_o professor_n that_o faith_n and_o that_o hope_v and_o those_o prayer_n which_o will_v consist_v with_o the_o raige_a evil_n of_o the_o tongue_n will_v never_o be_v any_o good_a evidence_n of_o a_o good_a state_n that_o which_o can_v drive_v the_o devil_n out_o of_o the_o tongue_n will_v never_o prove_v christ_n to_o be_v in_o the_o heart_n and_o all_o the_o expectation_n that_o be_v hence_o raise_v of_o future_a blessedness_n will_v undoubted_o deceive_v they_o that_o religion_n which_o will_v not_o tame_v the_o tongue_n will_v never_o save_v the_o soul_n i_o incist_n the_o more_o on_o this_o because_o however_o those_o evil_n mention_v injustice_n unmercifulness_n intemperance_n etc._n etc._n may_v possible_o be_v as_o common_a and_o some_o of_o they_o as_o pernicious_a and_o the_o prevail_a of_o they_o as_o certain_o conclude_v man_n in_o a_o evil_a state_n as_o this_o yet_o these_o evil_n of_o the_o tongue_n be_v but_o word_n be_v more_o apt_a to_o be_v pass_v light_o over_o and_o notwithstanding_o all_o the_o mischievous_a consequence_n of_o they_o to_o be_v less_o regard_v but_o can_v you_o make_v a_o light_a matter_n of_o that_o which_o prove_v you_o damnable_a hypocrite_n have_v thou_o spit_v â—ut_v all_o thy_o religion_n in_o thy_o furious_a fit_n and_o yet_o â—ilt_v thou_o make_v nothing_o of_o they_o by_o this_o bite_a â—nd_n devour_a tongue_n you_o do_v not_o only_o consume_v â—ne_z another_o but_o you_o consume_v every_o man_n himself_o our_o own_o peace_n your_o own_o comfort_n your_o own_o â—opes_n your_o religion_n and_o salvation_n you_o see_v by_o experience_n how_o it_o devour_v all_o the_o exercise_n of_o religion_n what_o duty_n be_v we_o fit_v for_o whilst_o our_o â—ongues_n be_v on_o fire_n prayer_n must_v be_v lay_v aside_o read_v or_o conference_n of_o god_n or_o of_o soul_n be_v turn_v out_o of_o door_n god_n himself_o can_v be_v hear_v conscience_n can_v be_v hear_v soul_n can_v be_v mind_v while_o those_o noise_n and_o tumult_n last_o and_o that_o which_o do_v destroy_v the_o exercise_n of_o grace_n can_v but_o destroy_v its_o evidence_n and_o bring_v we_o at_o least_o to_o question_v it_o if_o not_o to_o conclude_v it_o a_o nullity_n i_o confess_v some_o evil_n of_o the_o tongue_n may_v consist_v with_o grace_n in_o the_o heart_n but_o if_o this_o scripture_n be_v true_a a_o unbridled_a tongue_n can_v grace_n prayer_n of_o that_o foulness_n of_o your_o mouth_n which_o your_o evil_a word_n have_v leave_v behind_o they_o it_o will_v defile_v your_o profession_n that_o will_v hardly_o be_v speak_v well_o of_o which_o will_v bear_v evil_a speak_n it_o will_v disturb_v where_o it_o do_v not_o devour_v it_o will_v disturb_v you_o in_o your_o holy_a course_n if_o it_o do_v not_o quite_o divert_v you_o never_o look_v to_o prosper_v in_o holiness_n or_o to_o be_v fruitful_a in_o good_a work_n whilst_o you_o break_v forth_o into_o such_o evil_a word_n these_o lean_a kinâ—_n and_o thin_a ear_n of_o envy_n and_o contention_n will_v eat_v up_o all_o your_o good_a fruit_n i_o rather_o wonder_v to_o see_v any_o thing_n green_a in_o those_o garden_n where_o such_o locust_n lodge_v than_o that_o there_o be_v no_o more_o oh_o brethren_n let_v we_o no_o long_o excuse_v but_o judge_v ourselves_o for_o this_o let_v our_o bitterness_n become_v bitter_a to_o we_o let_v we_o weep_v over_o it_o let_v we_o watch_v
