presume_v to_o hug_v these_o imperfection_n but_o be_v always_o strive_v against_o they_o they_o 1._o caution_n provide_v we_o always_o strive_v against_o they_o that_o thou_o do_v not_o wilful_o truth_n which_o be_v a_o error_n from_o it_o and_o though_o thou_o may_v not_o for_o the_o present_a by_o a_o clear_a evidence_n of_o reason_n or_o a_o direct_a and_o distinct_a evidence_n of_o faith_n assent_n
unto_o several_a truth_n which_o be_v in_o the_o word_n provide_v 1._o that_o thou_o assente_v to_o all_o truth_n that_o be_v necessary_o to_o be_v believe_v to_o salvation_n and_o the_o foundation_n no_o act_n of_o the_o mind_n the_o nature_n of_o which_o and_o truth_n of_o which_o we_o can_v discover_v from_o the_o knowledge_n of_o it_o clear_o in_o itself_o but_o must_v be_v force_v to_o examine_v the_o truth_n and_o falsehood_n of_o it_o by_o the_o effect_n and_o it_o must_v be_v the_o infinite_a and_o rare_a work_n of_o god_n to_o persuade_v our_o sense_n of_o the_o truth_n of_o our_o faith_n may_v it_o not_o be_v possible_a think_v you_o to_o find_v one_o that_o be_v beautiful_a very_o beautiful_a and_o yet_o all_o her_o friend_n shall_v not_o persuade_v she_o that_o she_o have_v any_o beauty_n at_o all_o we_o may_v have_v that_o which_o we_o will_v be_v not_o know_v of_o the_o woman_n have_v see_v her_o face_n in_o a_o false_a glass_n or_o do_v not_o know_v what_o beauty_n be_v and_o therefore_o will_v not_o be_v persuade_v by_o other_o man_n eye_n to_o rectify_v she_o own_o judgement_n so_o it_o be_v with_o believer_n they_o may_v have_v a_o beautiful_a face_n of_o faith_n and_o yet_o not_o think_v so_o second_o a_o christian_a may_v have_v a_o true_a faith_n and_o true_o rely_v upon_o christ_n and_o real_o think_v he_o do_v not_o at_o all_o trust_n and_o rely_v upon_o jesus_n christ_n sense_n in_o a_o christian_a may_v not_o only_o have_v a_o miss_v cast_v before_o its_o eye_n but_o have_v its_o eye_n clear_o put_v out_o suppose_v a_o man_n have_v put_v up_o a_o petition_n to_o the_o king_n for_o some_o place_n of_o honour_n and_o trust_v this_o petition_n lie_v unanswered_a a_o great_a while_n at_o last_o the_o king_n answer_v this_o temper_n of_o many_o christian_n pinch_v upon_o that_o piont_n ask_v they_o whether_o they_o whole_o rest_v and_o rely_v upon_o christ_n for_o salvation_n they_o dare_v not_o tell_v you_o they_o think_v they_o do_v not_o nor_o they_o think_v they_o do_v but_o they_o can_v tell_v what_o to_o think_v they_o know_v not_o whether_o they_o do_v or_o no_o though_o they_o dare_v not_o conclude_v the_o falsehood_n and_o nullity_n yet_o they_o dare_v not_o assert_v the_o reality_n and_o verity_n of_o any_o act_n of_o faith_n in_o their_o soul_n they_o live_v at_o great_a incertainty_n and_o this_o make_v they_o think_v they_o do_v not_o believe_v they_o be_v sure_o dispute_v be_v no_o believe_v to_o this_o i_o answer_v in_o this_o conclusion_n that_o thou_o may_v make_v a_o question_n whether_o thou_o believe_v or_o no_o and_o yet_o true_o believe_v it_o be_v true_a dispute_v be_v no_o believe_v but_o though_o they_o be_v not_o thing_n of_o the_o same_o nature_n yet_o they_o be_v be_v not_o a_o question_n about_o the_o object_n of_o faith_n in_o which_o thou_o may_v for_o all_o this_o remain_v unshaken_a but_o mere_o about_o thy_o act_n of_o faith_n thus_o dispute_v thou_o do_v not_o dispute_v whether_o the_o promise_n be_v true_a or_o no_o but_o whether_o thou_o be_v as_o thou_o shall_v be_v persuade_v of_o the_o truth_n of_o it_o and_o do_v as_o thou_o ought_v rest_n upon_o it_o for_o a_o word_n of_o truth_n and_o yet_o some_o dispute_n and_o doubt_n about_o the_o object_n be_v not_o inconsistent_a with_o faith_n as_o i_o have_v show_v before_o it_o be_v a_o soule-destroying_a opinion_n which_o some_o libertine_n have_v hatch_v in_o these_o day_n that_o a_o christian_n ought_v not_o to_o question_v the_o truth_n of_o his_o faith_n such_o a_o unbelief_n
