eternal_a life_n in_o his_o son_n this_o i_o will_v not_o speak_v of_o because_o all_o both_o papist_n and_o protestant_n agree_v in_o this_o that_o faith_n be_v a_o assent_n of_o the_o mind_n this_o be_v a_o controversy_n on_o neither_o side_n therefore_o i_o will_v omit_v it_o but_o it_o be_v the_o second_o part_n or_o act_v of_o faith_n which_o be_v the_o believe_v that_o in_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n he_o shall_v have_v eternal_a life_n which_o be_v a_o act_n of_o the_o heart_n and_o this_o be_v that_o which_o i_o will_v stand_v upon_o it_o be_v a_o confidence_n in_o god_n and_o christ_n for_o all_o good_a thing_n when_o a_o man_n do_v not_o only_o believe_v that_o all_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n be_v yea_o and_o amen_o in_o christ_n but_o when_o a_o man_n do_v fiducial_o believe_v the_o power_n of_o god_n and_o yet_o not_o have_v a_o justify_v faith_n all_o that_o have_v miraculous_a faith_n do_v believe_v the_o power_n of_o god_n god_n but_o the_o apostle_n say_v 1_o cor._n 13.2_o if_o i_o have_v all_o faith_n that_o be_v all_o miraculous_a faith_n even_o to_o the_o remove_n of_o mountain_n without_o charity_n it_o be_v nothing_o second_o there_o be_v a_o unroot_v confidence_n of_o the_o will_n will_n which_o may_v be_v in_o a_o natural_a man_n as_o a_o natural_a man_n may_v believe_v that_o christ_n be_v the_o only_a hope_n of_o glory_n the_o only_a way_n safety_n they_o be_v not_o right_a for_o all_o that_o and_o yet_o they_o do_v not_o only_o believe_v christ_n but_o in_o some_o sense_n and_o in_o a_o unroot_v manner_n they_o believe_v on_o christ_n therefore_o there_o be_v not_o only_o a_o firm_a assent_n to_o the_o truth_n which_o may_v be_v in_o a_o natural_a man_n but_o also_o some_o kind_n of_o confidence_n three_o presumptuous_a there_o be_v a_o presumptuous_a confidence_n in_o god_n and_o christ_n for_o salvation_n which_o the_o worker_n of_o iniquity_n may_v have_v they_o may_v not_o only_o believe_v the_o general_a truth_n of_o the_o gospel_n but_o have_v some_o kind_n of_o confidence_n in_o christ_n though_o not_o so_o good_a as_o the_o former_a for_o that_o reform_v a_o man_n and_o make_v he_o follow_v christ_n till_o persecution_n come_v and_o may_v be_v in_o persecution_n too_o till_o he_o be_v weary_a but_o this_o be_v not_o so_o good_a you_o shall_v have_v a_o drunkard_n a_o profane_a person_n he_o have_v confidence_n in_o christ_n that_o god_n hear_v his_o prayer_n accept_v his_o duty_n and_o will_v provide_v for_o he_o our_o saviour_n christ_n speak_v of_o such_o matth._n 7.22_o he_o tell_v we_o of_o be_v before_o the_o act_n thus_o it_o go_v justify_v faith_n must_v needs_o be_v before_o justification_n and_o justification_n must_v be_v before_o the_o sense_n and_o feel_n of_o justification_n before_o a_o man_n can_v feel_v and_o apprehend_v he_o be_v justify_v the_o cause_n go_v before_o the_o effect_n in_o order_n of_o nature_n for_o a_o man_n be_v justify_v by_o faith_n now_o if_o a_o man_n know_v he_o be_v justify_v than_o the_o thing_n must_v be_v true_a before_o he_o know_v it_o be_v so_o now_o here_o they_o differ_v that_o faith_n be_v a_o confident_a apprehend_n of_o christ_n for_o justification_n and_o this_o full_a special_a persuasion_n of_o the_o heart_n be_v not_o only_o a_o confident_a apprehend_n of_o christ_n for_o justification_n but_o a_o apprehend_n of_o justification_n itself_o now_o true_a justify_v faith_n may_v be_v without_o this_o job_n 13.15_o though_o he_o kill_v i_o yet_o i_o will_v trust_v in_o he_o that_o be_v suppose_v that_o i_o be_v at_o a_o utter_a loss_n that_o i_o know_v not_o whether_o god_n will_v slay_v i_o yet_o slay_v i_o or_o not_o slay_v i_o perish_v or_o not_o perish_v i_o will_v trust_v in_o he_o imagine_v god_n deliver_v
