very_o few_o attain_v to_o the_o true_a knowledge_n much_o less_o to_o the_o right_a use_n of_o faith_n either_o in_o the_o assurance_n of_o their_o salvation_n or_o well_o order_v of_o their_o conversation_n for_o to_o pass_v over_o all_o carnal_a protestant_n who_o only_o have_v a_o form_n of_o godliness_n make_v a_o outward_a show_n thereof_o and_o deny_v the_o power_n of_o it_o in_o walk_v after_o their_o own_o lust_n i_o have_v observe_v very_o many_o who_o have_v in_o truth_n labour_v after_o salvation_n yet_o through_o want_n of_o good_a direction_n have_v make_v forsake_v of_o their_o sin_n the_o ground_n of_o their_o believe_v and_o so_o build_v such_o a_o weighty_a matter_n upon_o so_o weak_a a_o foundation_n can_v never_o come_v to_o such_o certainty_n of_o their_o salvation_n or_o constancy_n in_o a_o holy_a conversation_n as_o true_a faith_n will_v have_v bring_v they_o unto_o some_o other_o i_o have_v see_v who_o be_v deep_o affect_v with_o the_o sense_n of_o their_o misery_n and_o know_v that_o there_o be_v no_o mean_n of_o recovery_n but_o by_o christ_n have_v desire_v nothing_o more_o then_o to_o be_v deliver_v and_o restore_v by_o he_o yet_o these_o not_o know_v the_o right_a way_n how_o to_o attain_v to_o faith_n by_o which_o alone_o do_v receive_v christ_n and_o all_o his_o benefit_n have_v spend_v many_o year_n unprofitable_o and_o unfruitful_o other_o there_o be_v who_o persuade_v themselves_o that_o they_o have_v faith_n and_o thereby_o be_v quiet_v from_o fear_n of_o condemnation_n yet_o much_o want_v the_o life_n and_o power_n of_o faith_n neither_o so_o honour_n god_n and_o their_o profession_n nor_o in_o time_n of_o trial_n find_v that_o sound_a peace_n and_o comfort_n which_o a_o lively_a faith_n will_v certain_o procure_v by_o all_o which_o it_o appear_v how_o few_o they_o be_v that_o have_v attain_v to_o the_o true_a knowledge_n of_o faith_n what_o it_o be_v how_o it_o be_v get_v and_o increase_v and_o how_o to_o live_v by_o it_o the_o consideration_n whereof_o grieve_v my_o soul_n to_o see_v so_o many_o mistake_v in_o so_o weighty_a a_o matter_n and_o so_o much_o labour_n to_o be_v lose_v have_v be_v the_o chief_a mover_n of_o i_o to_o employ_v all_o my_o thought_n how_o this_o great_a evil_n may_v be_v redress_v whereupon_o enter_v into_o deep_a consideration_n how_o this_o may_v be_v attain_v of_o a_o believer_n in_o this_o world_n above_o all_o other_o estate_n though_o never_o so_o excellent_a these_o thus_o be_v i_o give_v myself_o to_o the_o search_n of_o the_o scripture_n to_o find_v out_o what_o these_o heavenly_a comfort_n be_v which_o god_n have_v so_o abundant_o provide_v for_o our_o relief_n in_o all_o time_n of_o need_n and_o to_o this_o purpose_n with_o no_o small_a labour_n have_v gather_v out_o all_o the_o promise_n as_o well_o as_o i_o can_v out_o of_o both_o the_o testament_n which_o be_v lay_v together_o make_v a_o great_a heap_n of_o heavenly_a treasure_n such_o as_o any_o of_o understanding_n will_v great_o admire_v and_o rejoice_v in_o and_o i_o may_v in_o truth_n profess_v i_o be_v much_o affect_v with_o the_o bare_a read_n of_o they_o but_o well_o consider_v that_o the_o naked_a lay_v down_o of_o these_o promise_n will_v not_o be_v sufficient_a to_o direct_v every_o one_o to_o the_o right_a use_n and_o fit_a application_n of_o they_o for_o the_o beget_n and_o increase_v of_o faith_n i_o have_v labour_v to_o draw_v these_o unto_o several_a head_n such_o as_o in_o my_o opinion_n may_v contain_v all_o our_o necessity_n that_o at_o leastwise_o the_o weak_a sort_n may_v more_o fit_o apply_v they_o to_o their_o several_a use_n and_o so_o by_o faith_n be_v comfort_v when_o all_o other_o help_v fail_v they_o if_o in_o this_o my_o labour_n i_o have_v not_o so_o sufficient_o satisfy_v the_o desire_n of_o the_o most_o judicious_a i_o must_v content_v myself_o that_o according_a to_o the_o measure_n of_o grace_n receive_v i_o have_v labour_v to_o be_v helpful_a to_o such_o as_o stand_v in_o need_n hereof_o and_o have_v careful_o avoid_v whatsoever_o i_o have_v think_v may_v hinder_v their_o profit_v and_o special_o all_o controversy_n about_o faith_n and_o have_v plain_o show_v out_o of_o the_o scripture_n what_o i_o have_v conceive_v to_o be_v the_o truth_n wherein_o i_o may_v have_v this_o defence_n of_o my_o fail_n but_o these_o man_n not_o so_o clear_o see_v that_o all_o power_n to_o mortify_v all_o sin_n and_o to_o practice_v all_o good_a duty_n lie_v only_o in_o christ_n and_o must_v from_o he_o be_v receive_v by_o we_o that_o so_o we_o may_v prevail_v herein_o they_o fail_v that_o not_o receive_v this_o power_n from_o christ_n nor_o well_o know_v how_o do_v lose_v much_o labour_n and_o in_o and_o so_o find_v that_o sweet_a and_o precious_a fruit_n of_o faith_n which_o so_o few_o attain_n unto_o for_o the_o better_a understanding_n whereof_o we_o be_v to_o observe_v two_o special_a point_n pertain_v to_o the_o nature_n of_o this_o justify_n faith_n 1._o first_o what_o it_o have_v in_o common_a with_o all_o other_o kind_n of_o faith_n 2._o second_o what_o in_o special_a whereby_o
