take_v up_o their_o quarter_n at_o the_o falcon_n inn_n and_o about_o ten_o a_o clock_n at_o night_n the_o colonel_n possess_v the_o town_n with_o his_o force_n and_o divide_v his_o soldier_n to_o several_a station_n and_o with_o a_o party_n aflault_v the_o falcon_n inn_n where_o for_o a_o time_n a_o hot_a dispute_n be_v make_v from_o the_o house_n but_o at_o length_n they_o sally_v forth_o and_o skumish_v and_o cry_v quarter_n and_o some_o be_v hurt_v and_o mr._n grove_n be_v take_v prisoner_n and_o other_o endeavour_v to_o escape_v and_o afterwards_o mr._n penruddock_n upon_o search_n in_o the_o house_n be_v take_v prisoner_n and_o convey_v a_o prisoner_n to_o the_o guard_n the_o colonel_n all_o this_o while_n not_o speak_v with_o they_o afterwards_o the_o col._n be_v busy_a in_o reduce_v the_o force_n in_o the_o george_n inn_n word_n be_v bring_v unto_o he_o that_o mr._n penruddock_n be_v take_v the_o col._n send_v for_o he_o from_o the_o guard_n and_o tell_v he_o that_o he_o hear_v that_o he_o be_v a_o commander_n and_o wish_v he_o to_o use_v his_o power_n with_o they_o in_o the_o george_n to_o yield_v without_o effusion_n of_o any_o more_o blood_n tell_v he_o that_o if_o they_o will_v yield_v he_o will_v give_v they_o quarter_n and_o intercede_v to_o the_o protector_n for_o their_o life_n and_o soon_o after_o the_o colonel_n and_o mr._n penruddock_n go_v to_o the_o george_n inn_n where_o all_o that_o mr._n penruddock_n can_v say_v or_o do_v prevail_v nothing_o they_o within_o revile_v he_o tell_v he_o he_o have_v betray_v they_o and_o say_v that_o they_o abhor_v his_o motion_n and_o fire_v upon_o he_o for_o a_o farewell_n the_o col._n afterwards_o proceed_v by_o force_n to_o the_o reducement_n of_o the_o inn_n and_o send_v to_o the_o mayor_n of_o the_o town_n for_o his_o assistance_n and_o resolve_v to_o try_v the_o utmost_a extremity_n by_o fire_n and_o sword_n and_o all_o thing_n be_v prepare_v and_o ready_a for_o execution_n and_o they_o from_o the_o house_n discharge_v a_o volley_n of_o shot_n which_o do_v some_o execution_n mr._n mayor_n be_v shoot_v in_o the_o buttock_n and_o go_v home_o and_o this_o be_v all_o that_o come_v upon_o mr._n penruddock_n endeavour_n after_o some_o far_a procedure_n make_v by_o the_o col._n they_o in_o the_o george_n inn_n be_v reduce_v to_o all_o extremity_n they_o in_o the_o inn_n desire_v a_o parley_n and_o that_o grant_v they_o desire_v life_n liberty_n and_o estate_n and_o to_o keep_v their_o money_n the_o col._n answer_v that_o those_o condition_n be_v paramount_a his_o power_n but_o that_o if_o they_o will_v immediate_o yield_v themselves_o prisoner_n and_o come_v forth_o in_o the_o street_n he_o will_v so_o intercede_v to_o the_o protector_n that_o they_o shall_v not_o be_v injure_v by_o any_o power_n under_o heaven_n either_o in_o life_n liberty_n or_o estate_n here_o be_v the_o only_a condition_n and_o make_v with_o those_o in_o the_o george_n inn_n only_o nothing_o at_o all_o relate_v to_o mr._n penruddock_n or_o mr._n grove_n who_o be_v prisoner_n long_o before_o hereupon_o 5._o person_n viz._n mr._n wake_n two_o of_o the_o mr._n collier_n and_o two_o other_o come_v out_o of_o the_o george_n to_o the_o col._n and_o undertake_v that_o 28._o man_n horse_n and_o arm_n will_v immediate_o follow_v they_o and_o so_o many_o in_o the_o george_n shall_v be_v deliver_v up_o and_o the_o col._n appoint_v some_o of_o his_o own_o man_n to_o take_v a_o account_n of_o the_o man_n at_o the_o door_n the_o 5._o person_n only_o come_v forth_o the_o rest_n come_v not_o to_o the_o col._n to_o the_o door_n but_o take_v a_o opportunity_n and_o escape_v out_o at_o the_o back_n door_n or_o hide_v themselves_o in_o hay_n mow_v or_o other_o place_n the_o colonel_n thus_o abuse_v and_o so_o free_a of_o all_o treaty_n and_o yet_o conceive_v and_o find_v those_o 5._o person_n to_o be_v man_n of_o worth_n and_o valour_n will_v not_o take_v any_o advantage_n against_o they_o but_o continue_v his_o resolution_n to_o intercede_v to_o the_o protector_n for_o they_o which_o he_o do_v as_o effectual_o as_o he_o can_v and_o save_v their_o life_n and_o estate_n although_o they_o be_v condemn_v unto_o death_n the_o col._n use_v his_o utmost_a endeavour_n to_o have_v have_v they_o set_v at_o liberty_n also_o but_o can_v not_o prevail_v although_o his_o importunity_n be_v great_a and_o many_o on_o their_o behalf_n as_o be_v evident_a and_o know_v when_o mr._n penruddock_n hear_v of_o this_o success_n at_o the_o george_n inn_n and_o that_o the_o colonel_n have_v promise_v to_o intercede_v for_o the_o life_n of_o those_o 5._o gentleman_n he_o tell_v the_o col._n that_o he_o ought_v to_o be_v include_v because_o he_o have_v use_v his_o endeavour_n to_o reduce_v they_o although_o it_o take_v no_o effect_n the_o col._n reply_v that_o there_o be_v no_o article_n give_v only_o a_o promise_n to_o intercede_v for_o those_o 5_o person_n and_o that_o as_o for_o the_o rest_n in_o the_o inn_n after_o the_o say_a 5_o person_n come_v out_o they_o will_v not_o stay_v the_o result_n but_o have_v make_v their_o escape_n and_o leave_v the_o say_a 5_o person_n to_o mercy_n mr._n penruddock_n insist_v still_o to_o have_v have_v formal_a article_n make_v in_o writing_n for_o his_o own_o advantage_n after_o he_o be_v a_o prisoner_n never_o pretend_v to_o any_o before_o or_o to_o any_o afterwards_o but_o for_o use_v his_o endeavour_n to_o persuade_v the_o say_a surrender_n which_o take_v no_o effect_n and_o yet_o the_o col._n use_v all_o the_o mean_n he_o can_v to_o have_v save_v his_o life_n also_o as_o a_o gent._n of_o great_a hope_n and_o fortune_n but_o can_v never_o be_v draw_v by_o he_o to_o betray_v his_o trust_n though_o tempt_v with_o 500_o 1._o then_o with_o a_o 1000_o 1._o then_o with_o his_o whole_a estate_n too_o mean_a consideration_n to_o weigh_v down_o truth_n and_o honesty_n and_o whereas_o it_o have_v be_v by_o some_o allege_v that_o the_o colonel_n shall_v say_v to_o some_o of_o the_o prisoner_n that_o if_o their_o general_n wagstaffe_n have_v be_v there_o he_o shall_v have_v be_v use_v as_o they_o be_v but_o that_o now_o he_o be_v likely_a to_o fare_v worse_o it_o be_v speak_v only_o to_o this_o purpose_n that_o have_v he_o be_v with_o they_o he_o shall_v have_v have_v air_n quarter_n as_o a_o soldier_n but_o be_v escape_v he_o may_v be_v abuse_v or_o miscarry_v by_o other_o hand_n and_o whereas_o also_o it_o have_v be_v report_v that_o the_o protector_n shall_v say_v that_o have_v the_o col._n give_v article_n he_o will_v have_v allow_v they_o the_o protector_n never_o say_v any_o such_o thing_n to_o the_o col._n but_o on_o the_o contrary_a write_v under_o his_o hand_n that_o he_o will_v not_o spare_v mr._n penruddock_n upon_o any_o consideration_n whatsoever_o but_o a_o full_a discovery_n of_o the_o whole_a design_n these_o thing_n the_o col._n can_v make_v appear_v by_o the_o intercourse_n of_o letter_n betwixt_o the_o protector_n mr._n penruddock_n and_o himself_o and_o by_o sufficient_a witness_n and_o appeal_v to_o the_o honourable_a lord_n whether_o these_o interloquatory_n passage_n in_o furore_fw-la belli_fw-la and_o dark_a night_n can_v in_o the_o least_o amount_v to_o article_n or_o whether_o upon_o these_o surmise_n the_o col._n ought_v in_o the_o least_o to_o be_v cloud_v or_o blemish_v he_o protest_v in_o the_o sight_n of_o god_n that_o he_o never_o sign_v or_o seal_v any_o article_n whatsoever_o or_o ever_o make_v any_o promise_n than_o as_o to_o those_o 5._o person_n as_o aforesaid_a a_o more_o full_a and_o exact_a account_n of_o all_o that_o pass_v he_o hope_v short_o to_o present_v to_o the_o view_n of_o the_o world_n for_o the_o full_a clear_n of_o his_o injure_a innocence_n if_o he_o may_v be_v so_o permit_v to_o do_v
