and_o the_o other_o in_o order_n to_o his_o mind_n as_o also_o the_o word_n infirmity_n mention_v in_o the_o former_a part_n of_o the_o verse_n it_o may_v have_v a_o double_a sense_n with_o it_o either_o as_o it_o denote_v his_o outward_a state_n or_o temper_n of_o body_n or_o as_o it_o denote_v his_o inward_a disposition_n and_o frame_n of_o soul_n this_o be_v my_o infirmity_n but_o god_n in_o a_o manner_n to_o be_v extinguish_v and_o quite_o abolish_v in_o sundry_a person_n but_o that_o which_o we_o intend_v be_v this_o first_o that_o man_n shall_v not_o content_v themselves_o only_o with_o such_o thing_n as_o these_o be_v but_o look_v after_o somewhat_o else_o and_o somewhat_o more_o they_o shall_v not_o do_v as_o our_o saviour_n charge_v the_o pharisee_n be_v observant_a of_o small_a thing_n the_o mint_n and_o the_o cummin_n and_o such_o as_o they_o and_o omit_v the_o weighty_a matter_n of_o the_o law_n judgement_n and_o mercy_n and_o faith_n these_o aught_o they_o to_o have_v do_v and_o not_o to_o leave_v the_o other_o undo_v matth._n 22.23_o their_o righteousness_n must_v not_o only_o equal_a but_o also_o exceed_v the_o scribe_n and_o pharisee_n that_o be_v one_o and_o circumcision_n be_v that_o of_o the_o heart_n of_o the_o spirit_n and_o not_o of_o the_o letter_n who_o praise_n be_v not_o of_o man_n but_o of_o god_n rom._n 2.28_o 29._o sermon_n ii_o mark_n interpretation_n all_o that_o seem_v to_o make_v after_o he_o be_v not_o equal_o affect_v towards_o he_o which_o as_o we_o may_v observe_v and_o take_v notice_n of_o in_o sundry_a other_o place_n beside_o in_o the_o history_n of_o the_o gospel_n so_o among_o the_o rest_n here_o in_o this_o chapter_n which_o we_o have_v now_o before_o we_o where_o we_o read_v of_o three_o sort_n of_o person_n repair_v unto_o he_o the_o pharisee_n and_o the_o sadducee_n and_o occasional_o one_o of_o the_o scribe_n the_o two_o first_o of_o these_o they_o come_v to_o he_o that_o they_o may_v cavil_v with_o he_o that_o they_o may_v entangle_v he_o and_o insuare_fw-la him_z in_o his_o discourse_n the_o one_o in_o the_o point_n of_o tribute_n and_o the_o other_o in_o the_o doctrine_n of_o the_o those_o word_n thou_o be_v not_o far_o from_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n the_o occasion_n or_o ground_n for_o the_o pass_n of_o it_o upon_o he_o in_o these_o when_o jesus_n see_v that_o he_o answer_v discreet_o we_o begin_v in_o order_n with_o the_o first_o though_o the_o second_o in_o the_o method_n of_o the_o text_n and_o that_o be_v the_o censure_n itself_o thou_o be_v not_o far_o from_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n for_o the_o handle_n whereof_o here_o be_v two_o term_n to_o be_v open_v and_o explain_v by_o we_o first_o what_o be_v here_o mean_v by_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n second_o what_o by_o be_v far_o from_o this_o kingdom_n for_o the_o first_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n or_o the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n be_v all_o one_o and_o come_v to_o one_o effect_n it_o be_v various_o take_v in_o scripture_n more_o especial_o three_o manner_n of_o way_n first_o for_o the_o state_n of_o grace_n and_o that_o sovereignty_n and_o dominion_n which_o god_n exercise_v in_o the_o heart_n of_o the_o faithful_a thus_o it_o be_v take_v in_o matt._n 13.31_o where_o the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n be_v compare_v to_o a_o grain_n of_o mustard_n seed_n the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n that_o be_v the_o work_n of_o grace_n in_o a_o believer_n and_o so_o luke_n 17.21_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n be_v within_o you_o second_o for_o the_o state_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o god_n gracious_a dispensation_n of_o himself_o towards_o his_o church_n and_o people_n under_o the_o new_a testament_n thus_o it_o be_v take_v mat._n 11.12_o the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n suffer_v violence_n etc._n etc._n the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n i.e._n the_o ministry_n and_o preach_v of_o the_o gospel_n three_o for_o the_o state_n of_o glory_n and_o that_o bless_a and_o happy_a condition_n which_o god_n child_n to_o all_o eternity_n shall_v enjoy_v with_o christ_n and_o his_o holy_a angel_n in_o another_o world_n thus_o it_o be_v take_v mat._n 5.3_o bless_a be_v the_o pure_a in_o spirit_n for_o they_o be_v the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n that_o be_v the_o kingdom_n of_o glory_n so_o luke_n 14.15_o bless_a be_v he_o that_o shall_v eat_v bread_n in_o the_o kingdom_n the_o further_o open_v of_o the_o text._n and_o this_o for_o the_o first_o term_n what_o be_v mean_v by_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n the_o second_o be_v what_o be_v mean_v by_o be_v far_o from_o this_o kingdom_n who_o or_o how_o any_o be_v say_v to_o be_v far_o from_o it_o now_o this_o we_o must_v know_v that_o it_o may_v admit_v also_o of_o a_o threefold_a interpretation_n there_o be_v a_o threefold_a distance_n or_o remoteness_n in_o reference_n to_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n which_o any_o be_v capable_a of_o first_o in_o regard_n of_o the_o mean_n second_o in_o regard_n of_o the_o term_n three_o in_o regard_n of_o the_o event_n each_o of_o these_o be_v pertinent_o considerable_a first_o in_o regard_n of_o the_o mean_n thus_o those_o be_v say_v to_o be_v far_o from_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n which_o be_v destitute_a of_o those_o mean_n of_o grace_n which_o do_v lead_v and_o tend_v to_o this_o kingdom_n forasmuch_o as_o the_o end_n of_o any_o thing_n be_v not_o usual_o attain_v but_o by_o the_o mean_n therefore_o those_o which_o want_v the_o mean_n be_v so_o far_o forth_o from_o the_o end_n now_o this_o remoteness_n in_o regard_n of_o the_o mean_n it_o be_v again_o twofold_a either_o absolute_a or_o comparative_a for_o the_o absolute_a
whereof_o we_o now_o speak_v without_o faith_n it_o be_v impossible_a to_o please_v god_n heb._n 11.6_o if_o any_o man_n be_v in_o christ_n he_o be_v a_o new_a creature_n 2_o cor._n 5.17_o except_o a_o man_n be_v bear_v again_o he_o can_v enter_v into_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n joh._n 3.3_o there_o be_v very_a great_a reason_n for_o we_o to_o consider_v of_o such_o thing_n as_o these_o be_v that_o so_o we_o may_v neither_o deceive_v ourselves_o nor_o yet_o be_v deceive_v in_o other_o but_o may_v be_v able_a here_o to_o discern_v and_o distinguish_v of_o thing_n that_o differ_v as_o some_o read_v those_o word_n of_o the_o apostle_n phil._n 1.10_o or_o to_o approve_v the_o thing_n which_o be_v excellent_a as_o some_o other_o because_o mistake_n as_o they_o be_v please_v in_o nothing_o else_o so_o they_o be_v especial_o dangerous_a in_o religion_n and_o deceit_n be_v always_o troublesome_a but_o self-deceit_n the_o worst_a of_o all_o and_o so_o much_o of_o the_o second_o explication_n of_o this_o phrase_n afar_o off_o from_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n to_o wit_n in_o regard_n of_o the_o term_n in_o profane_a one_o in_o hypocrite_n and_o in_o mere_a civil_a person_n the_o three_o be_v in_o regard_n of_o the_o event_n and_o thing_n itself_o thus_o they_o be_v say_v to_o be_v far_o from_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n which_o be_v in_o such_o a_o distance_n from_o actual_a conversion_n and_o come_v home_o to_o god_n indeed_o and_o here_o now_o we_o must_v make_v use_n of_o that_o distinction_n which_o upon_o occasion_n we_o premise_v before_o to_o wit_n of_o a_o absolute_a remoteness_n and_o a_o comparative_a according_a to_o which_o account_n those_o which_o be_v far_o from_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n in_o one_o sense_n yet_o in_o another_o sense_n may_v be_v near_o unto_o it_o and_o near_o than_o some_o other_o which_o in_o some_o respect_n may_v not_o seem_v to_o be_v so_o far_o from_o it_o to_o explain_v this_o a_o little_a unto_o we_o we_o may_v take_v it_o thus_o first_o in_o regard_n of_o god_n purpose_n and_o decree_n concern_v they_o thus_o those_o which_o be_v far_o from_o conversion_n consider_v in_o themselves_o and_o the_o state_n in_o which_o they_o now_o be_v yet_o so_o far_o forth_o as_o god_n do_v gracious_o intend_v a_o good_a work_n ere_o long_o upon_o they_o so_o in_o this_o respect_n they_o may_v be_v say_v not_o to_o be_v very_o far_o from_o it_o this_o be_v the_o case_n of_o paul_n when_o he_o be_v go_v with_o letter_n to_o damascus_n against_o the_o church_n of_o god_n act_v 9.2_o this_o man_n in_o regard_n of_o his_o state_n and_o present_a condition_n in_o which_o he_o now_o be_v his_o principle_n and_o his_o conversation_n so_o he_o be_v far_o from_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n yea_o in_o a_o very_a great_a distance_n and_o remoteness_n as_o we_o can_v imagine_v for_o he_o be_v a_o enemy_n to_o the_o way_n of_o god_n he_o be_v a_o persecuter_n of_o the_o people_n of_o god_n he_o be_v a_o opposer_n of_o the_o truth_n of_o god_n but_o yet_o notwithstanding_o in_o regard_n of_o god_n purpose_n towards_o he_o and_o decree_n upon_o he_o so_o he_o be_v very_o near_o yea_o the_o next_o door_n to_o it_o for_o in_o the_o verse_n immediate_o follow_v the_o next_o news_n we_o hear_v of_o he_o it_o be_v concern_v his_o conversion_n and_o become_v a_o member_n of_o christ_n thus_o he_o who_o be_v far_o from_o god_n kingdom_n in_o regard_n of_o the_o term_n and_o his_o personal_a qualification_n yet_o in_o regard_n of_o the_o event_n be_v very_o near_o second_o as_o in_o regard_n of_o god_n decree_n and_o purpose_n towards_o such_o person_n in_o particular_a so_o likewise_o in_o regard_n of_o his_o usual_a and_o more_o ordinary_a dispensation_n in_o general_n so_o there_o be_v some_o which_o though_o consider_v in_o themselves_o may_v be_v simple_o far_o from_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n yet_o consider_v in_o reference_n to_o some_o other_o and_o in_o comparison_n with_o those_o who_o live_v profane_o god_n do_v for_o the_o most_o part_n in_o the_o work_n of_o conversion_n civilize_v man_n before_o he_o christianize_v they_o and_o make_v they_o man_n as_o i_o may_v say_v before_o he_o make_v they_o christian_n civility_n it_o be_v antecedent_n to_o grace_n for_o the_o right_a understanding_n of_o which_o point_n that_o we_o may_v not_o yet_o mis-conceive_a it_o we_o must_v take_v in_o these_o follow_a explication_n first_o that_o the_o great_a civility_n and_o that_o in_o the_o high_a improvement_n of_o it_o yet_o it_o be_v not_o meritorious_a of_o grace_n trial_n in_o this_o particular_a that_o be_v which_o do_v so_o careful_o improve_v the_o ability_n of_o nature_n in_o he_o and_o lead_v such_o a_o exact_a life_n in_o a_o way_n of_o civility_n itself_o as_o from_o whence_o he_o shall_v engage_v god_n if-so-be_a he_o be_v willing_a upon_o those_o term_n to_o be_v engage_v to_o he_o as_o to_o bestow_v grace_n upon_o he_o there_o be_v never_o any_o man_n yet_o who_o do_v this_o thing_n they_o now_o speak_v of_o and_o take_v for_o grant_v again_o we_o say_v second_o that_o though_o we_o shall_v suppose_v that_o there_o be_v some_o man_n deliver_v we_o from_o so_o great_a a_o death_n and_o do_v deliver_v in_o who_o we_o trust_v also_o that_o he_o will_v yet_o deliver_v we_o sermon_n xxxv_o 2_o cor._n 13.8_o for_o we_o can_v do_v and_o the_o inference_n the_o supposition_n that_o be_v of_o the_o sin_n to_o wit_n security_n in_o these_o word_n when_o they_o say_v peace_n and_o safety_n the_o inference_n that_o be_v of_o the_o this_o world_n both_o to_o sin_n and_o likewise_o to_o affliction_n second_o this_o desire_n of_o the_o church_n as_o to_o christ_n come_n it_o be_v found_v upon_o a_o respect_n to_o herself_o and_o from_o the_o body_n yet_o this_o do_v not_o satisfy_v they_o and_o content_v they_o without_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o lody_n too_o and_o there_o be_v still_o a_o natural_a inclination_n of_o the_o soul_n to_o its_o own_o body_n for_o the_o perfection_n of_o the_o person_n which_o make_v it_o according_o desirous_a of_o the_o second_o come_v of_o christ_n and_o day_n of_o resurrection_n thus_o we_o see_v how_o the_o church_n desire_v christ_n second_o come_v in_o reference_n to_o herself_o which_o be_v the_o second_o consideration_n three_o in_o reference_n also_o to_o other_o that_o they_o of_o our_o soul_n and_o that_o be_v the_o first_o use_v of_o this_o point_n see_v one_o thing_n be_v needful_a therefore_o we_o see_v here_o where_o to_o place_v and_o spend_v our_o chief_a thought_n and_o endeavour_n second_o see_v one_o thing_n be_v needful_a we_o shall_v therefore_o not_o only_o mind_v this_o one_o thing_n itself_o but_o also_o mind_n every_o thing_n else_o in_o reference_n to_o that_o one_o we_o shall_v make_v all_o our_o project_n and_o action_n and_o undertake_n subordinate_a and_o subservient_fw-fr hereunto_o whatever_o we_o do_v we_o shall_v examine_v what_o connexion_n it_o have_v with_o this_o how_o it_o further_v our_o salvation_n how_o it_o advance_v the_o glory_n of_o god_n how_o it_o promote_v our_o spiritual_a welfare_n we_o may_v reduce_v it_o and_o apply_v it_o to_o divers_a and_o sundry_a particular_n wherein_o we_o may_v make_v use_n of_o this_o rule_n first_o in_o matter_n of_o doctrine_n and_o opinion_n look_v at_o the_o one_o thing_n needful_a here_o there_o be_v many_o frivolous_a and_o unnecessary_a dispute_n which_o the_o world_n sometime_o be_v trouble_v withal_o which_o take_v up_o man_n head_n and_o mind_n and_o divert_v they_o from_o better_a thing_n now_o here_o this_o counsel_n and_o advertisement_n be_v very_o seasonable_a to_o remember_v the_o one_o thing_n necessary_a we_o must_v here_o distinguish_v betwixt_o wit_n and_o grace_n betwixt_o fancy_n and_o faith_n betwixt_o empty_a notion_n and_o speculation_n and_o solid_a and_o substantial_a truth_n these_o doctrine_n be_v worth_a the_o study_v and_o strive_v and_o contend_v for_o which_o will_v make_v a_o man_n wise_a to_o saulation_n and_o build_v one_o up_o in_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n which_o will_v better_v we_o in_o our_o inward_a man_n and_o which_o tend_v to_o the_o lead_n of_o a_o godly_a and_o a_o holy_a life_n and_o according_a hereunto_o be_v we_o to_o make_v proof_n and_o trial_n of_o they_o we_o may_v know_v whether_o they_o be_v from_o god_n or_o no_o by_o this_o discovery_n whatsoever_o come_v from_o he_o it_o carry_v to_o he_o those_o opinion_n which_o be_v good_a for_o nothing_o but_o only_o to_o show_v the_o wit_n and_o part_n of_o those_o that_o vent_v they_o to_o set_v christian_n at_o difference_n and_o variance_n one_o with_o another_o or_o at_o the_o best_a to_o fill_v their_o head_n with_o fancy_n and_o subtlety_n and_o conceit_n those_o opinion_n which_o be_v compliance_n with_o the_o principle_n of_o a_o carnal_a heart_n which_o set_v up_o reason_n in_o the_o room_n of_o faith_n and_o nature_n in_o the_o room_n of_o grace_n and_o work_v in_o the_o room_n of_o christ_n such_o as_o these_o they_o may_v be_v very_o well_o suspect_v and_o so_o consequent_o be_v to_o be_v reject_v by_o we_o but_o those_o be_v the_o prime_a point_n indeed_o which_o have_v a_o contrary_a efficacy_n with_o they_o to_o the_o change_n of_o the_o soul_n to_o the_o discovery_n of_o a_o man_n corrupt_a nature_n to_o the_o draw_v of_o a_o man_n home_o to_o christ_n and_o so_o thereby_o to_o bring_v he_o to_o heaven_n and_o such_o as_o these_o shall_v be_v chief_o study_v and_o pursue_v by_o we_o and_o so_o the_o scripture_n itself_o to_o this_o purpose_n give_v we_o direction_n thus_o 2_o tim._n 2.14_o 16._o charge_v they_o before_o the_o lord_n that_o they_o strive_v not_o about_o word_n to_o no_o profit_n but_o to_o the_o subvert_v of_o the_o hearer_n and_o again_o shun_v profane_a and_o vain_a babble_n for_o they_o will_v increase_v unto_o more_o ungodliness_n tit._n 3.9_o avoid_v foolish_a question_n and_o genealogy_n etc._n etc._n for_o they_o be_v unprofitable_a and_o vain_a this_o be_v that_o which_o many_o people_n in_o the_o world_n be_v often_o time_n fail_v in_o as_o not_o walk_v by_o this_o rule_n here_o before_o we_o in_o this_o particular_a they_o never_o consider_v the_o influence_n or_o extent_n of_o those_o thing_n which_o they_o hold_v as_o to_o the_o make_n of_o a_o man_n better_o or_o worse_a but_o indifferent_o rush_v upon_o they_o without_o any_o heed_n or_o regard_n at_o all_o nay_o there_o be_v many_o which_o make_v choice_n of_o such_o point_n as_o may_v most_o feed_v corruption_n in_o they_o as_o they_o do_v sometime_o also_o of_o other_o occasion_n there_o be_v many_o that_o bring_v their_o opinion_n to_o their_o lust_n and_o make_v their_o judgement_n to_o be_v subservient_fw-fr to_o their_o affection_n those_o point_n which_o will_v best_o consist_v with_o the_o follow_v of_o such_o and_o such_o course_n those_o be_v the_o point_n which_o be_v most_o embrace_v and_o admire_v by_o they_o those_o that_o be_v for_o loose_a life_n they_o be_v common_o for_o loose_a opinion_n which_o may_v nourish_v and_o cherish_v and_o maintain_v those_o life_n in_o they_o they_o begin_v not_o first_o of_o all_o in_o the_o head_n but_o rather_o in_o the_o heart_n as_o a_o faulty_a and_o corrupt_a stomach_n send_v up_o noisome_a vapour_n into_o the_o brain_n for_o which_o reason_n heresy_n be_v by_o the_o apostle_n call_v work_n of_o the_o flesh_n because_o the_o flesh_n and_o corrupt_a affection_n have_v a_o great_a stroke_n and_o predominancy_n in_o they_o for_o the_o manage_n of_o they_o now_o by_o a_o regard_n to_o this_o one_o thing_n necessary_a there_o will_v be_v a_o shun_v and_o avoid_v of_o these_o thing_n second_o in_o the_o duty_n and_o exercise_n of_o religion_n look_v still_o at_o the_o one_o thing_n which_o be_v needful_a and_o that_o according_a to_o the_o particular_a nature_n and_o quality_n of_o they_o there_o be_v many_o religious_a performance_n which_o have_v that_o which_o be_v mere_o accessary_a to_o they_o and_o we_o be_v to_o separate_v and_o distinguish_v the_o circumstance_n from_o that_o which_o be_v substantial_a and_o to_o have_v our_o eye_n chief_o to_o the_o latter_a as_o that_o which_o be_v most_o necessary_a not_o to_o rest_v ourselves_o in_o the_o shell_n of_o duty_n but_o to_o look_v after_o the_o pith_n and_o kernel_n nor_o to_o perform_v it_o plausible_o so_o much_o as_o to_o perform_v it_o profitable_o and_o to_o enjoy_v communion_n with_o god_n himself_o by_o his_o spirit_n in_o the_o performance_n of_o it_o in_o prayer_n to_o pray_v in_o the_o holy_a ghost_n in_o hear_v to_o receive_v the_o word_n with_o meekness_n in_o fast_v to_o afflict_v the_o soul_n in_o communicate_v to_o feed_v upon_o christ_n and_o so_o of_o the_o rest_n still_o in_o every_o exercise_n of_o religion_n and_o christian_a performance_n not_o to_o have_v only_o the_o form_n of_o godliness_n but_o to_o look_v after_o the_o power_n as_o that_o wherein_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n do_v especial_o consist_v three_o in_o our_o employment_n and_o the_o work_n of_o our_o ordinary_a calling_n let_v we_o have_v a_o eye_n also_o still_o to_o this_o consider_v what_o that_o be_v which_o be_v principal_o require_v of_o we_o there_o be_v a_o double_a end_n and_o use_v of_o these_o thing_n the_o one_o be_v as_o they_o be_v mean_n of_o supportment_n and_o outward_a subsistence_n in_o the_o world_n and_o so_o serve_v to_o make_v up_o a_o livelihood_n and_o the_o other_o be_v as_o in_o the_o exercise_n of_o they_o man_n become_v profitable_a to_o the_o public_a good_a whether_o in_o church_n or_o
state_n now_o this_o late_a be_v that_o which_o be_v chief_o and_o principal_o to_o be_v regard_v though_o the_o other_o also_o in_o its_o place_n not_o to_o be_v neglect_v last_o in_o all_o the_o several_a passage_n and_o contrivance_n and_o occasion_n in_o the_o whole_a course_n of_o our_o life_n let_v we_o still_o have_v a_o regard_n to_o that_o which_o be_v of_o great_a concernment_n there_o be_v somewhat_o which_o be_v more_o needful_a and_o there_o be_v somewhat_o which_o be_v less_o needful_a in_o all_o now_o we_o shall_v here_o divide_v the_o one_o from_o the_o other_o as_o for_o example_n here_o the_o instance_n in_o the_o text_n in_o hospitality_n and_o entertainment_n of_o friend_n what_o be_v the_o one_o thing_n needful_a why_o it_o be_v the_o continuance_n and_o increase_v of_o love_n it_o be_v the_o sweet_a and_o comfortable_a enjoyment_n of_o one_o another_o society_n and_o a_o improve_n of_o the_o communion_n of_o saint_n and_o what_o be_v the_o accessary_a and_o adventitious_a why_o this_o be_v to_o be_v careful_a about_o many_o thing_n great_a provision_n and_o great_a expense_n and_o great_a entertainment_n now_o see_v which_o of_o these_o be_v to_o be_v prefer_v by_o the_o rule_n here_o before_o we_o again_o further_a take_v it_o in_o man_n dwelling_n and_o the_o contrivance_n of_o their_o habitation_n the_o shall_v still_o look_v at_o that_o which_o be_v most_o needful_a not_o only_o as_o to_o corporal_a or_o secular_a accommodation_n but_o as_o to_o spiritual_a it_o be_v that_o which_o be_v not_o always_o do_v by_o abundance_n of_o person_n man_n common_o look_v at_o the_o goodness_n of_o the_o air_n at_o the_o convenience_n of_o the_o soil_n at_o the_o pleasantness_n of_o the_o situation_n what_o it_o for_o trade_n what_o it_o be_v for_o health_n what_o it_o be_v for_o pleasure_n and_o it_o may_v not_o be_v amiss_o in_o they_o to_o do_v so_o but_o be_v there_o nothing_o else_o to_o be_v regard_v by_o they_o but_o only_o these_o or_o be_v these_o the_o chief_a and_o the_o principal_a what_o be_v the_o mean_n for_o heaven_n and_o salvation_n and_o spiritual_a improvement_n what_o ministry_n what_o company_n what_o neighbourhood_n what_o opportunity_n for_o goodness_n alas_o these_o be_v thing_n which_o many_o people_n never_o take_v care_n of_o or_o trouble_v themselves_o withal_o and_o they_o common_o speed_v according_o as_o we_o may_v see_v a_o sad_a instance_n of_o it_o even_o in_o righteous_a lot_n a_o good_a man_n but_o oversee_v in_o this_o particular_a and_o according_o he_o smart_v for_o it_o he_o make_v choice_n of_o sodom_n to_o dwell_v in_o because_o of_o the_o sweetness_n and_o pleasantness_n of_o the_o situation_n but_o never_o consider_v the_o condition_n of_o the_o inhabitant_n and_o the_o person_n which_o he_o shall_v live_v withal_o and_o what_o be_v the_o issue_n of_o it_o in_o conclusion_n why_o namely_o this_o that_o he_o be_v vex_v with_o the_o filthy_a conversation_n of_o the_o wicked_a for_o that_o righteous_a man_n dwell_v among_o they_o in_o see_v and_o hear_v vex_v his_o righteous_a soul_n from_o day_n to_o day_n with_o their_o unlawful_a deed_n as_o the_o apostle_n peter_n record_v it_o of_o he_o in_o 2_o pet._n 2.7_o 8._o the_o comfortableness_n of_o his_o habitation_n be_v drown_v and_o lose_v and_o swallow_v up_o in_o the_o uncomfortableness_n of_o his_o society_n there_o be_v nothing_o more_o irksome_a or_o grievous_a to_o those_o that_o be_v good_a than_o to_o be_v fasten_v to_o those_o that_o be_v evil_a so_o again_o likewise_o for_o marriage_n and_o the_o alter_n of_o man_n condition_n in_o the_o world_n what_o be_v the_o one_o thing_n needful_a why_o it_o be_v a_o suitableness_n and_o agreeableness_n to_o each_o other_o as_o much_o as_o can_v be_v endeavour_v a_o meet_a help_n as_o god_n himself_o provide_v for_o adam_n and_o especial_o in_o the_o best_a thing_n of_o all_o which_o be_v to_o bring_v one_o another_o to_o heaven_n such_o as_o may_v continue_v and_o keep_v up_o the_o church_n both_o in_o themselves_o and_o in_o a_o godly_a posterity_n through_o the_o care_n which_o shall_v be_v take_v by_o they_o to_o that_o purpose_n but_o alas_o these_o be_v thing_n which_o the_o world_n little_a look_n after_o but_o rather_o other_o matter_n of_o far_o inferior_a consideration_n but_o we_o see_v here_o what_o be_v our_o saviour_n suggestion_n which_o shall_v be_v also_o our_o direction_n and_o that_o in_o all_o the_o passage_n of_o our_o life_n to_o mind_n especial_o that_o one_o thing_n which_o be_v needful_a and_o that_o be_v the_o second_o use_n and_o application_n which_o we_o may_v make_v of_o this_o doctrine_n the_o three_o be_v this_o that_o see_v but_o one_o thing_n be_v needful_a we_o shall_v therefore_o take_v heed_n of_o all_o needless_a and_o frivolous_a distraction_n in_o ourselves_o see_v god_n have_v be_v please_v to_o draw_v our_o happiness_n into_o so_o close_a and_o shall_v be_v shy_a as_o much_o as_o may_v be_v of_o all_o such_o diversion_n as_o these_o be_v the_o soul_n of_o a_o man_n be_v a_o choice_n and_o precious_a creature_n and_o it_o be_v pity_n that_o it_o shall_v be_v weary_v and_o tire_v out_o with_o unnecessary_a thought_n which_o shall_v therefore_o with_o all_o carefulness_n be_v avoid_v by_o it_o and_o that_o upon_o the_o account_n and_o consideration_n of_o this_o point_n here_o before_o we_o which_o serve_v to_o show_v and_o convince_v we_o of_o the_o uncertainty_n of_o such_o a_o course_n as_o that_o be_v and_o that_o be_v the_o abound_v with_o the_o excellency_n of_o grace_n and_o the_o adorn_v of_o the_o inward_a man_n all_o perfection_n beside_o without_o these_o be_v very_o imperfect_a and_o such_o as_o be_v true_o consider_v be_v of_o no_o account_n at_o all_o wealth_n what_o be_v that_o if_o a_o man_n be_v not_o rich_a in_o faith_n and_o rich_a in_o good_a work_n and_o rich_a towards_o god_n what_o be_v it_o to_o have_v a_o inheritance_n here_o except_o a_o man_n have_v a_o inheritance_n hereafter_o which_o be_v reserve_v and_o lay_v up_o for_o he_o in_o a_o better_a place_n except_o a_o man_n be_v a_o heir_n of_o heaven_n and_o a_o co-heir_n of_o christ_n this_o be_v that_o wealth_n which_o be_v needful_a and_o learning_n what_o be_v that_o if_o a_o man_n be_v not_o wise_a to_o salvation_n and_o endue_v with_o knowledge_n from_o above_o and_o acquaint_v with_o the_o mystery_n of_o religion_n and_o skilled_a in_o the_o depth_n of_o satan_n and_o exercise_v in_o his_o own_o heart_n this_o be_v the_o necessary_a knowledge_n beauty_n what_o be_v that_o where_o there_o be_v not_o a_o inward_a meekness_n
