universal_a form_n as_o a_o physical_a cause_n of_o a_o real_a effect_n for_o there_o be_v two_o thing_n which_o i_o can_v too_o much_o distrust_v the_o first_o be_v the_o impression_n of_o my_o sense_n and_o the_o other_o the_o facility_n i_o have_v to_o receive_v abstract_a nature_n and_o general_a logical_a idea_n for_o those_o which_o be_v real_a and_o particular_a i_o remember_v i_o have_v be_v many_o time_n seduce_v by_o these_o two_o principal_a error_n but_o to_o return_v to_o the_o difficulty_n it_o be_v not_o possible_a for_o i_o to_o conceive_v how_o these_o little_a link_n shall_v be_v indivisible_a by_o their_o nature_n and_o essence_n nor_o consequent_o how_o they_o shall_v be_v inflexible_a since_o on_o the_o contrary_n i_o conceive_v they_o very_o divisible_a and_o necessary_o divisible_a by_o their_o nature_n and_o essence_n for_o the_o part_n a_o be_v most_o certain_o a_o substance_n as_o well_o as_o b_o and_o consequent_o it_o be_v clear_a that_o a_o can_v exist_v without_o b_o since_o substance_n can_v exist_v one_o without_o another_o because_o otherwise_o they_o will_v not_o be_v substance_n we_o can_v say_v that_o a_o be_v not_o a_o substance_n for_o it_o be_v plain_a it_o be_v not_o a_o bare_a mode_n and_o all_o being_n be_v either_o mode_n or_o substance_n so_o since_o a_o be_v not_o a_o mode_n it_o be_v a_o substance_n than_o it_o may_v exist_v without_o b_o and_o much_o more_o may_v the_o part_v a_o exist_v separately_z from_o b._n so_o that_o this_o link_n be_v divisible_a in_o a_o and_o in_o b._n moreover_o if_o this_o link_n be_v indivisible_a or_o crooked_a by_o nature_n and_o essence_n it_o will_v be_v quite_o contrary_a to_o what_o we_o experience_v for_o than_o we_o can_v not_o break_v any_o body_n let_v we_o suppose_v as_o before_o that_o a_o piece_n of_o iron_n be_v compose_v of_o many_o link_n which_o be_v intermix_v one_o in_o another_o whereof_o a_o a_o and_z b_o b_o be_v two_o of_o they_o i_o say_v that_o we_o can_v unlink_v they_o and_o consequent_o that_o we_o can_v not_o break_v this_o iron_n for_o to_o break_v it_o we_o must_v bend_v the_o link_n that_o compose_v it_o which_o be_v nevertheless_o suppose_v natural_o and_o essential_o inflexible_a and_o if_o we_o do_v not_o suppose_v they_o inflexible_a but_o only_o indivisible_a by_o their_o nature_n the_o supposition_n will_v be_v of_o no_o use_n to_o resolve_v the_o question_n for_o then_o the_o difficulty_n will_v be_v to_o know_v why_o these_o little_a link_n do_v not_o obey_v our_o effort_n when_o we_o try_v to_o bend_v a_o bar_n of_o iron_n yet_o if_o we_o suppose_v they_o not_o inflexible_a we_o must_v not_o suppose_v they_o indivisible_a for_o if_o the_o part_n of_o these_o link_n can_v change_v their_o situation_n one_o in_o respect_n to_o another_o it_o be_v plain_a that_o they_o may_v be_v separate_v since_o there_o be_v no_o reason_n why_o if_o one_o part_n can_v remove_v itself_o a_o little_a from_o the_o other_o it_o can_v not_o be_v absolute_o do_v then_o whether_o we_o suppose_v these_o link_n inflexible_a or_o indivisible_a we_o can_v by_o this_o mean_n resolve_v the_o question_n for_o if_o we_o suppose_v able_a immediate_o with_o one_o simple_a view_n and_o all_o the_o attention_n i_o be_o capable_a of_o to_o discover_v what_o i_o will_v find_v and_o it_o be_v what_o i_o may_v have_v do_v from_o the_o beginning_n for_o when_o the_o subject_n that_o we_o consider_v be_v a_o little_a intricate_a it_o be_v always_o the_o best_a way_n to_o examine_v they_o in_o part_n and_o not_o fatigue_n ourselves_o little_a link_n the_o will_n of_o the_o author_n of_o nature_n or_o last_o the_o invisible_a body_n which_o surround_v these_o little_a link_n i_o may_v yet_o bring_v for_o the_o cause_n of_o these_o thing_n the_o form_n of_o body_n the_o quality_n of_o hardness_n or_o some_o occult_a one_o the_o sympathy_n which_o will_v be_v between_o the_o particle_n of_o the_o same_o kind_n etc._n etc._n but_o because_o i_o have_v not_o a_o distinct_a idea_n of_o these_o fine_a thing_n i_o neither_o aught_o nor_o can_v maintain_v my_o argument_n from_o they_o so_o that_o if_o i_o find_v not_o the_o cause_n i_o seek_v in_o thing_n that_o i_o have_v a_o distinct_a idea_n of_o i_o will_v not_o uselessy_a fatigue_n myself_o in_o the_o contemplation_n of_o these_o ramble_a and_o general_a logical_a idea_n little_a link_n be_v so_o strict_o unite_v viz._n the_o little_a part_n it_o be_v compose_v of_o when_o i_o consider_v only_o the_o part_n whereof_o hare_n body_n be_v compose_v i_o find_v myself_o incline_v to_o believe_v that_o we_o can_v imagine_v any_o cement_n which_o unite_v the_o part_n of_o this_o link_n beside_o themselves_o and_o their_o own_o rest_n for_o of_o what_o nature_n can_v
