hear_v what_o he_o say_v and_o return_v answer_n to_o he_o five_o i_o observe_v upon_o this_o parable_n that_o abraham_n and_o dives_n seem_v very_o well_o acquaint_v and_o near_o relate_v one_o to_o the_o other_o dives_n give_v abraham_n the_o title_n of_o father_n which_o abraham_n accept_v and_o return_n answer_v to_o he_o by_o the_o name_n of_o son_n whereas_o if_o mr._n w._n say_v true_a there_o can_v be_v no_o such_o real_a relation_n between_o they_o for_o mr._n w._n say_v there_o be_v nothing_o of_o dives_n in_o hell_n but_o his_o soul_n subsist_v there_o in_o a_o state_n of_o scripture_n but_o he_o bring_v not_o one_o to_o this_o purpose_n and_o therefore_o i_o think_v it_o may_v be_v conclude_v that_o these_o several_a session_n of_o god_n for_o judgement_n be_v but_o a_o device_n of_o his_o own_o brain_n which_o have_v no_o real_a truth_n in_o it_o and_o thus_o by_o man_n device_n they_o strive_v to_o heal_v cover_n and_o confirm_v their_o erroneous_a opinion_n which_o i_o look_v upon_o as_o a_o great_a fault_n in_o a_o good_a man_n but_o notwithstanding_o those_o humane_a invention_n i_o be_o apt_a to_o conclude_v that_o if_o the_o good_a soul_n go_v to_o god_n for_o judgement_n in_o heaven_n that_o bad_a soul_n do_v also_o somewhat_o evident_o do_v the_o like_a solomon_n say_v the_o soul_n return_v to_o god_n who_o give_v it_o the_o soul_n return_v author_n to_o the_o trouble_v of_o defend_v his_o opinion_n against_o it_o in_o the_o close_a of_o this_o argument_n mr._n w._n ask_v what_o have_v the_o live_a god_n to_o do_v with_o dead_a spirit_n and_o i_o say_v so_o too_o and_o therefore_o grant_v that_o if_o the_o intelligent_a separate_a spirit_n of_o a_o man_n be_v dead_a it_o can_v with_o no_o propriety_n or_o truth_n be_v say_v to_o to_o fall_v upon_o they_o in_o the_o prosecution_n of_o their_o great_a duty_n the_o preach_a of_o the_o gospel_n encourage_v they_o not_o to_o sear_v what_o harm_v man_n can_v do_v unto_o they_o upon_o that_o account_n because_o man_n can_v only_o kill_v the_o body_n intend_v the_o person_n but_o be_v not_o able_a to_o kill_v the_o soul_n for_o lay_v any_o other_o sort_n of_o real_a quite_o beside_o our_o lord_n mean_v in_o this_o doctrine_n and_o if_o not_o quite_o out_o of_o it_o yet_o very_o plain_o collateral_a to_o it_o and_o yet_o from_o this_o side-wind_n the_o maintainer_n of_o separate_a subsistence_n draw_v the_o strong_a proof_n which_o they_o can_v find_v for_o maintain_v their_o opinion_n of_o the_o separate_a subsistence_n i_o think_v that_o upon_o perusal_n of_o this_o argument_n it_o will_v appear_v the_o strength_n of_o this_o proof_n be_v much_o weaken_a and_o abate_v and_o will_v be_v find_v to_o be_v of_o much_o less_o force_n than_o it_o seem_v to_o have_v at_o the_o first_o read_v or_o hear_v thereof_o and_o in_o this_o state_n of_o debilitation_n i_o leave_v it_o to_o prosecute_v my_o observation_n upon_o mr._n w_n page_n as_o i_o do_v before_o p._n 64_o mr._n w._n pretend_v to_o take_v the_o dispute_v word_n as_o comment_n one_o upon_o another_o and_o say_v that_o by_o construction_n they_o may_v be_v make_v to_o intend_v in_o our_o collateral_a point_n which_o st._n luke_n do_v not_o meddle_v with_o there_o be_v a_o very_a great_a variance_n between_o these_o two_o expression_n for_o that_o the_o one_o prove_v strong_o the_o soul_n be_v separate_a subsistence_n and_o the_o other_o prove_v it_o not_o nor_o meddle_v with_o it_o at_o all_o which_o prove_v that_o our_o lord_n doctrine_n do_v not_o intend_v to_o that_o moses_n may_v not_o have_v die_v in_o the_o mount_n but_o may_v be_v translate_v or_o transport_v to_o heaven_n in_o person_n as_o enoch_n and_o elias_n have_v before_o be_v which_o i_o offer_v to_o prove_v by_o his_o appear_v with_o elias_n at_o mount_n taber_n it_o seem_v they_o appear_v both_o after_o a_o like_a manner_n and_o the_o one_o as_o much_o in_o person_n as_o the_o other_o mr._n than_o that_o he_o do_v not_o otherways_o know_v what_o the_o thing_n in_o heaven_n reconcile_v to_o god_n by_o christ_n may_v mean_v which_o i_o take_v for_o a_o confession_n that_o he_o do_v not_o know_v what_o paul_n mean_v by_o these_o thing_n in_o heaven_n second_o i_o conceive_v he_o do_v not_o know_v that_o there_o be_v any_o soul_n in_o heaven_n because_o if_o he_o do_v he_o shall_v be_v able_a to_o make_v such_o a_o demonstration_n or_o description_n of_o their_o be_v and_o of_o their_o be_v there_o as_o other_o man_n who_o be_v willing_a may_v be_v able_a to_o understand_v and_o conceive_v he_o have_v take_v pain_n to_o write_v this_o treatise_n and_o therein_o have_v already_o produce_v thirteen_o argument_n in_o proof_n of_o this_o tenet_n but_o very_o unsuccessful_o as_o those_o who_o peruse_v these_o observation_n will_v easy_o discover_v the_o peruser_n of_o this_o argument_n will_v i_o think_v easy_o find_v that_o mr._n w._n must_v have_v two_o thing_n grant_v he_o before_o he_o can_v pretend_v to_o prove_v any_o thing_n by_o this_o argument_n first_o that_o there_o be_v no_o thing_n in_o heaven_n which_o need_v reconciliation_n to_o god_n unless_o man_n will_v admit_v that_o humane_a soul_n be_v there_o and_o therefore_o second_o he_o will_v persuade_v man_n to_o admit_v of_o his_o position_n that_o there_o be_v soul_n in_o heaven_n but_o i_o think_v fit_a to_o reject_v both_o these_o proposal_n and_o say_v first_o that_o there_o may_v be_v other_o thing_n in_o heaven_n beside_o soul_n which_o may_v need_v a_o reconciliation_n to_o god_n by_o christ_n and_o second_o to_o conceive_v that_o possible_o or_o even_o probable_o there_o be_v not_o nor_o ever_o be_v any_o humane_a soul_n in_o heaven_n nor_o in_o any_o other_o place_n in_o the_o world_n except_o in_o their_o own_o proper_a and_o peculiar_a body_n here_o mr._n w._n put_v another_o slight_a objection_n against_o his_o own_o opinion_n and_o answer_v it_o p._n 102._o mr._n w._n demand_n if_o there_o be_v any_o thing_n else_o in_o heaven_n beside_o the_o soul_n of_o man_n which_o need_v a_o reconciliation_n to_o god_n what_o be_v those_o thing_n i_o answer_v i_o do_v not_o know_v what_o those_o thing_n be_v and_o alike_o confession_n of_o his_o ignorance_n concern_v this_o subject_a will_v better_o have_v become_v mr._n w._n than_o his_o groundless_a guess_n at_o what_o be_v mean_v in_o this_o text_n by_o st._n paul_n expression_n of_o thing_n in_o heaven_n and_o the_o supply_v his_o ignorance_n therein_o by_o a_o bold_a but_o erroneous_a guest_n that_o by_o thing_n in_o heaven_n st._n paul_n intend_v the_o separate_a soul_n of_o man_n of_o which_o the_o text_n make_v no_o mention_n at_o all_o and_o his_o supposal_n that_o there_o be_v separate_a soul_n have_v no_o better_a foundation_n than_o his_o own_o supposal_n which_o have_v very_o little_a power_n to_o convince_v intelligent_a person_n that_o humane_a soul_n have_v any_o sort_n of_o subsistence_n in_o a_o state_n of_o separation_n from_o the_o body_n the_o fourteen_o argument_n page_n 102._o heb._n 12.23_o we_o be_v come_v to_o the_o spirit_n of_o just_a man_n make_v perfect_a mr._n w._n begin_v this_o unto_o mount_n zion_n and_o to_o the_o heavenly_a jerusalem_n or_o city_n of_o god_n to_o the_o company_n of_o angel_n to_o the_o general_a assembly_n and_o church_n of_o the_o first_o bear_v and_o to_o god_n the_o judge_n of_o all_o and_o to_o the_o spirit_n of_o just_a man_n make_v perfect_a and_o to_o jesus_n the_o mediator_n of_o the_o new_a covenant_n ver._n 25._o see_v that_o you_o
