to_o a_o man_n as_o be_v the_o strong_a vessel_n and_o as_o satan_n know_v the_o woman_n to_o be_v most_o easy_a and_o framable_a to_o be_v wrought_v upon_o at_o his_o first_o temptation_n so_o be_v he_o not_o ignorant_a that_o she_o be_v the_o weak_a party_n to_o sustain_v any_o temptation_n now_o then_o let_v we_o consider_v whether_o they_o that_o be_v thus_o humble_v have_v knowledge_n or_o no_o because_o if_o they_o have_v no_o knowledge_n they_o think_v 2_o trouble_v of_o mind_n to_o be_v so_o strange_a a_o thing_n as_o never_o any_o before_o have_v it_o if_o they_o have_v knowledge_n be_v to_o inquire_v how_o strong_a or_o weak_a they_o be_v that_o if_o they_o be_v sore_o strike_v we_o cease_v to_o humble_v they_o any_o further_o if_o they_o be_v not_o sufficient_o wound_v then_o to_o touch_v they_o with_o some_o deep_a sense_n of_o sin_n also_o we_o must_v be_v circumspect_a to_o find_v out_o whether_o by_o nature_n they_o be_v fearful_a and_o melancholic_a or_o no_o as_o also_o whether_o they_o be_v usual_a sinner_n or_o have_v fall_v once_o of_o infirmity_n that_o so_o upon_o their_o disposition_n and_o inclination_n we_o may_v build_v our_o speech_n the_o better_a to_o these_o it_o be_v good_a to_o add_v the_o consideration_n of_o the_o person_n age_n estate_n and_o ability_n as_o if_o the_o party_n be_v trouble_v for_o worldliness_n whether_o he_o be_v not_o a_o great_a house_n holder_n if_o he_o complain_v of_o uncleanness_n whether_o he_o be_v not_o a_o young_a man_n &_o unmarried_a if_o he_o be_v humble_v with_o covetousness_n whether_o he_o be_v not_o old_a because_o diverse_a country_n calling_n age_n condition_n and_o estate_n of_o man_n have_v their_o diverse_a and_o peculiar_a sin_n which_o we_o must_v right_o discern_v howbeit_o of_o what_o sex_n soever_o they_o be_v man_n or_o woman_n of_o what_o complexion_n soever_o they_o be_v of_o what_o knowledge_n to_o discern_v sin_n of_o what_o degree_n of_o commit_v sin_n of_o what_o age_n authority_n wealth_n estate_n or_o condition_n soever_o they_o be_v it_o be_v good_a to_o mark_v that_o there_o be_v many_o who_o be_v more_o trouble_v for_o the_o vexation_n and_o disquietness_n of_o their_o mind_n be_v distemper_v than_o for_o the_o vileness_n and_o horriblenes_n of_o their_o sin_n commit_v who_o be_v wound_v more_o with_o the_o fear_n of_o shame_n with_o the_o fear_n of_o be_v mad_a or_o with_o the_o fear_n of_o run_v out_o of_o their_o wit_n than_o with_o the_o conscience_n of_o sin_n which_o thing_n if_o we_o find_v in_o they_o it_o be_v our_o part_n to_o travel_v with_o they_o that_o they_o make_v a_o less_o matter_n of_o the_o outward_a shame_n and_o more_o conscience_n of_o the_o inward_a sin_n neither_o must_v we_o here_o forget_v to_o make_v a_o distinction_n between_o our_o speech_n use_v to_o the_o humble_a in_o the_o very_a time_n of_o their_o extreme_a agony_n &_o burn_a ague_n of_o their_o trouble_n and_o those_o speech_n which_o we_o use_v to_o they_o the_o fit_a be_v past_a because_o the_o one_o and_o former_a require_v more_o consolation_n and_o less_o exhortation_n the_o other_o and_o latter_a will_v have_v we_o more_o abundant_a in_o admonish_v and_o more_o spare_v in_o comfort_v when_o we_o may_v wise_o admonish_v they_o to_o beware_v of_o sin_n which_o so_o procure_v their_o own_o woe_n in_o this_o breathe_a time_n it_o be_v also_o expedient_a to_o exhort_v they_o that_o for_o some_o season_n until_o they_o shall_v find_v great_a power_n of_o regeneration_n they_o will_v tie_v themselves_o to_o some_o holy_a order_n and_o godly_a vow_n whereby_o they_o may_v either_o be_v further_v in_o mortify_v some_o special_a sin_n which_o for_o that_o they_o can_v find_v no_o power_n against_o it_o do_v most_o grieve_v they_o or_o indeed_o many_o feel_v sorrow_n and_o be_v inward_o prick_v but_o because_o therewith_o be_v not_o join_v the_o power_n of_o god_n word_n they_o be_v either_o senseless_a as_o block_n or_o in_o their_o feel_n they_o be_v murmurer_n this_o come_v unto_o we_o by_o the_o dignity_n of_o god_n word_n in_o that_o no_o wonder_n from_o heaven_n no_o miracle_n on_o earth_n can_v touch_v our_o heart_n heaven_n no_o trouble_n from_o earth_n can_v humble_v way_n we_o no_o blessing_n from_o above_o no_o benefit_n from_o beneath_o can_v profit_v we_o until_o the_o word_n of_o god_n come_v which_o teach_v the_o old_a way_n to_o forsake_v it_o the_o new_a way_n to_o enter_v into_o it_o and_o the_o perfect_a way_n to_o continue_v in_o it_o and_o thus_o much_o for_o the_o general_a scope_n of_o this_o doctrine_n now_o more_o particular_o we_o may_v observe_v in_o this_o first_o part_n three_o thing_n first_o the_o power_n note_n of_o the_o word_n to_o prick_v our_o conscience_n second_o
