because_o wander_v and_o therefore_o 1._o impertinent_a and_o so_o a_o part_n of_o disorder_n and_o confusion_n which_o god_n be_v not_o the_o author_n of_o they_o be_v out_o of_o their_o place_n and_o rank_n they_o shall_v not_o come_v in_o when_o other_o occasion_n and_o duty_n take_v place_n they_o have_v no_o due_a place_n now_o they_o do_v but_o usurp_v 2._o be_v wander_n they_o be_v unseasonable_a out_o of_o their_o time_n and_o therefore_o undecent_a uncomely_a for_o time_n do_v give_v a_o beauty_n to_o thing_n 3._o be_v wander_n they_o be_v distract_n they_o go_v from_o the_o duty_n in_o hand_n take_v away_o part_n of_o the_o soul_n strength_n and_o thereby_o weaken_v the_o performance_n of_o duty_n and_o thus_o pertinent_a thought_n sometime_o gain_v the_o name_n of_o wander_a thought_n from_o the_o effect_n because_o they_o make_v the_o soul_n to_o wander_v have_v see_v the_o nature_n and_o kind_n of_o wander_a thought_n in_o god_n worship_n let_v we_o now_o consider_v how_o they_o do_v hinder_v our_o earnest_n worship_v of_o god_n ans_fw-fr two_o way_n 1._o as_o they_o weaken_v the_o inward_a power_n of_o the_o soul_n to_o worship_v god_n 2._o as_o they_o weaken_v the_o assist_a power_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n 1._o wander_v thought_n do_v weaken_v the_o inward_a power_n of_o the_o soul_n to_o worship_n god_n and_o so_o hinder_v our_o fervent_a and_o affectionate_a worship_v of_o god_n first_o as_o they_o take_v up_o part_n of_o the_o mind_n so_o that_o god_n worship_n have_v not_o the_o whole_a mind_n as_o it_o shall_v have_v thou_o shall_v love_v the_o lord_n with_o all_o thy_o mind_n a_o man_n do_v not_o pray_v with_o all_o his_o mind_n nor_o hear_v with_o all_o his_o mind_n part_n be_v bestow_v elsewhere_o let_v a_o river_n be_v part_v into_o two_o stream_n and_o it_o can_v run_v so_o full_a in_o both_o as_o it_o will_v in_o one_o no_o finite_a mind_n can_v be_v so_o strong_a about_o many_o object_n at_o same_o time_n as_o about_o one_o wander_v thought_n make_v god_n to_o be_v worship_v with_o a_o divide_a part_a mind_n with_o a_o piece_n of_o the_o mind_n therefore_o weak_o 2._o wander_v thought_n in_o worship_n do_v not_o only_o take_v up_o part_n of_o the_o mind_n and_o so_o weaken_v the_o power_n of_o the_o soul_n to_o worship_n god_n but_o they_o do_v take_v off_o the_o mind_n from_o the_o worship_n in_o hand_n so_o god_n say_v the_o heart_n be_v remove_v far_o from_o i_o and_o their_o heart_n go_v after_o their_o covetousness_n that_o be_v the_o mind_n be_v much_o near_o such_o thought_n and_o more_o take_v up_o with_o they_o then_o with_o the_o word_n or_o prayer_n the_o mind_n be_v whole_o with_o they_o or_o at_o least_o chief_o with_o they_o as_o it_o be_v often_o see_v when_o dog_n be_v follow_v a_o hare_n if_o a_o new_a one_o be_v start_v they_o follow_v that_o and_o leave_v the_o other_o so_o when_o we_o be_v pray_v read_v hear_v if_o new_a thought_n arise_v in_o our_o heart_n we_o let_v go_v our_o thought_n of_o the_o duty_n and_o follow_v they_o and_o so_o god_n have_v scarce_o a_o part_n of_o our_o mind_n in_o his_o worship_n if_o any_o it_o be_v the_o least_o part_n 3._o wander_v thought_n do_v weaken_v the_o power_n of_o the_o soul_n to_o worship_n god_n not_o only_o because_o they_o take_v up_o part_n of_o the_o mind_n and_o take_v off_o the_o mind_n from_o god_n worship_n but_o also_o because_o in_o so_o do_v they_o take_v up_o and_o take_v off_o the_o affection_n and_o endeavour_n the_o desire_n and_o delight_n of_o the_o soul_n and_o the_o action_n of_o the_o body_n what_o a_o man_n do_v not_o think_v of_o he_o can_v desire_v or_o delight_n in_o and_o what_o he_o do_v but_o little_o think_v of_o he_o will_v but_o little_a desire_n and_o delight_n in_o and_o consequent_o will_v take_v little_a pain_n about_o thus_o wander_a thought_n carry_v away_o the_o mind_n from_o god_n worship_n do_v also_o carry_v away_o the_o affection_n and_o outward_a man_n and_o if_o god_n have_v neither_o mind_n nor_o affection_n nor_o body_n or_o but_o little_a of_o they_o than_o he_o have_v but_o weak_a service_n 2._o wander_v thought_n do_v hinder_v our_o thorough_a worship_v of_o god_n as_o they_o do_v weaken_v the_o power_n of_o the_o assist_a spirit_n in_o our_o heart_n and_o that_o they_o do_v three_o way_n 1._o as_o they_o draw_v we_o from_o present_a spiritual_a thought_n about_o the_o worship_n in_o hand_n which_o be_v the_o work_n of_o god_n spirit_n concur_v with_o grace_n in_o the_o heart_n we_o can_v think_v a_o good_a thought_n in_o a_o duty_n without_o the_o assistance_n of_o god_n spirit_n all_o our_o sufficiency_n say_v paul_n 2_o cor._n 3.5_o be_v of_o god_n and_o he_o instance_v in_o the_o small_a power_n of_o the_o soul_n thought_n we_o can_v think_v any_o thing_n of_o ourselves_o when_o therefore_o wander_a thought_n do_v take_v we_o from_o such_o thought_n as_o the_o assist_a spirit_n have_v wrought_v in_o we_o do_v it_o not_o weaken_v the_o power_n of_o the_o assist_a spirit_n 2._o wander_v thought_n be_v evil_a and_o sinful_a do_v grieve_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n and_o so_o weaken_v the_o assist_a power_n of_o the_o spirit_n when_o a_o man_n be_v grieve_v he_o will_v have_v no_o mind_n to_o show_v his_o love_n and_o power_n ephes_n 4.30_o grieve_v not_o say_v the_o apostle_n the_o holy_a spirit_n of_o god_n unholines_n be_v contrary_a to_o the_o nature_n of_o the_o spirit_n therefore_o do_v grieve_v it_o and_o wander_a thought_n in_o holy_a duty_n be_v unholines_n because_o
