the_o law_n as_o the_o law_n be_v a_o covenant_n of_o work_n that_o be_v legal-walking_a that_o so_o we_o be_v to_o understand_v here_o i_o prove_v thus_o because_o legal-walking_a be_v here_o call_v flesh_n and_o the_o law_n be_v no_o where_n in_o scripture_n call_v flesh_n but_o as_o the_o same_o be_v consider_v under_o this_o notion_n as_o it_o be_v a_o covenant_n of_o work_n if_o you_o take_v the_o law_n in_o its_o self_n that_o be_v for_o the_o matter_n of_o it_o the_o substance_n of_o those_o thing_n the_o law_n require_v so_o the_o apostle_n say_v the_o contrary_a of_o the_o law_n rom._n 7.14_o the_o law_n be_v spiritual_a the_o matter_n or_o substance_n of_o the_o law_n be_v spiritual_a enjoin_v spiritual_a duty_n require_v spiritual_a performance_n and_o design_v to_o make_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n in_o he_o nor_o his_o walk_n he_o pray_v but_o there_o be_v nothing_o of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n in_o his_o prayer_n and_o therefore_o though_o he_o pray_v day_n and_o week_n and_o month_n together_o all_o be_v but_o flesh_n he_o mourn_v and_o humble_v himself_o for_o sin_n resolve_n vow_n and_o strive_v against_o it_o but_o do_v all_o this_o in_o a_o legal_a and_o protest_v and_o vex_v and_o fret_v no_o strength_n at_o all_o one_o day_n they_o vow_v they_o will_v leave_v their_o sin_n and_o the_o next_o day_n they_o run_v into_o they_o one_o day_n they_o will_v weep_v and_o mourn_v and_o howl_v for_o the_o neglect_n of_o such_o a_o duty_n and_o the_o next_o day_n they_o will_v neglect_v it_o again_o thus_o they_o tug_v and_o pull_v and_o worry_v and_o lust_n as_o far_o from_o the_o attain_n the_o one_o or_o the_o other_o as_o when_o they_o begin_v as_o far_o from_o their_o journey_n end_n after_o many_o day_n month_n and_o year_n travel_n as_o when_o they_o first_o set_v out_o 4_o and_o last_o because_o the_o flesh_n or_o unregenerate_a part_n be_v in_o a_o manner_n maintain_v alive_a by_o such_o walk_n my_o meaning_n be_v the_o more_o gospel_n will_v take_v a_o advantage_n to_o bring_v a_o soul_n which_o walk_v after_o the_o gospel_n to_o be_v more_o holy_a and_o believe_a by_o his_o very_a slip_n sin_n and_o infirmity_n so_o the_o law_n do_v take_v a_o advantage_n from_o the_o very_a outward_a holiness_n of_o those_o who_o walk_v after_o the_o law_n to_o make_v they_o more_o profane_a and_o licentious_a than_o otherwise_o do_v they_o not_o press_v after_o some_o outward_a holiness_n and_o conformity_n to_o the_o law_n they_o will_v be_v this_o the_o apostle_n clear_o teach_v we_o rom._n 7.8_o 9.10_o 11._o without_o the_o unregenerate_a part_n accidental_o get_v strength_n by_o the_o law_n and_o therefore_o legal_a walk_n may_v well_o be_v call_v walk_v alter_v the_o flesh_n 4_o that_o those_o person_n who_o be_v free_v from_o condemnation_n be_v such_o as_o my_o text_n speak_v of_o do_v not_o walk_v legal_o or_o after_o the_o flesh_n 1_o if_o such_o be_v dead_a unto_o and_o deliver_v from_o the_o law_n as_o it_o be_v a_o covenant_n of_o work_n then_o do_v they_o not_o walk_v after_o the_o law_n as_o such_o for_o a_o man_n can_v be_v say_v to_o walk_v after_o that_o which_o be_v both_o dead_a unto_o and_o judea_n teach_v the_o brethren_n and_o say_v except_o you_o be_v circumcise_v after_o the_o manner_n of_o moses_n you_o can_v be_v save_v and_o therefore_o the_o apostle_n exclusion_n of_o the_o law_n from_o believer_n must_v needs_o lie_v in_o that_o sense_n which_o they_o will_v have_v enforce_v the_o same_o upon_o they_o viz._n as_o a_o covenant_n of_o work_n or_o as_o a_o way_n or_o mean_n by_o observance_n of_o which_o they_o may_v obtain_v life_n justification_n here_o and_o eternal_a salvation_n hereafter_o 2_o if_o such_o have_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n in_o they_o and_o be_v lead_v guide_v and_o govern_v in_o their_o way_n and_o walking_n thereby_o then_o do_v they_o not_o walk_v after_o the_o law_n as_o a_o covenant_n of_o work_n where_o be_v legal_a walk_n be_v nothing_o of_o the_o spirit_n because_o the_o covenant_n of_o work_n give_v not_o the_o spirit_n but_o now_o such_o have_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n in_o they_o rom._n 8.9_o but_o you_o be_v not_o in_o the_o flesh_n but_o in_o the_o spirit_n if_o so_o be_v that_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n dwell_v in_o you_o now_o if_o any_o man_n have_v not_o the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n he_o be_v none_o of_o he_o and_o in_o will_v deny_v that_o this_o be_v or_o can_v be_v find_v in_o person_n actual_o not_o free_v from_o condemnation_n none_o will_v affirm_v therefore_o it_o must_v be_v in_o those_o who_o be_v free_v the_o covenant_n of_o grace_n and_o a_o covenant_n of_o work_n both_o which_o have_v influence_n upon_o their_o spirit_n their_o action_n be_v oftentimes_o mix_v be_v neither_o pure_o gospel_n nor_o pure_o legal_a so_o much_o as_o they_o keep_v their_o eye_n upon_o the_o covenant_n of_o abraham_n so_o much_o they_o be_v of_o gospel_n spirit_n and_o their_o work_n be_v gospel_n work_n and_o on_o the_o contrary_a so_o much_o as_o the_o covenant_n of_o moses_n have_v command_v over_o they_o and_o do_v reach_v their_o spirit_n and_o conscience_n so_o much_o their_o spirit_n be_v legal_a and_o their_o act_n legal_a so_o that_o there_o do_v plain_o appear_v something_o of_o grace_n and_o legality_n in_o the_o spirit_n and_o act_n of_o most_o of_o the_o old_a testament_n saint_n and_o yet_o notwithstanding_o though_o there_o be_v somewhat_o of_o legality_n in_o their_o spirit_n and_o act_n by_o virtue_n of_o their_o be_v under_o the_o old_a covenant_n yet_o be_v not_o their_o act_n pure_o legal_a nor_o their_o walk_n a_o pure_a legal_a walk_n because_o they_o have_v in_o their_o walk_n and_o act_v respect_n too_o unto_o that_o other_o covenant_n make_v with_o abraham_n which_o be_v a_o covenant_n of_o grace_n now_o although_o this_o old_a covenant_n be_v abrogate_a upon_o the_o come_n of_o christ_n and_o be_v now_o of_o no_o long_o force_v to_o the_o saint_n in_o the_o new_a testament_n yet_o in_o regard_n this_o covenant_n be_v more_o natural_a to_o we_o than_o the_o other_o and_o also_o be_v once_o in_o be_v in_o the_o time_n of_o the_o old_a testament_n and_o be_v in_o be_v and_o not_o have_v light_n enough_o in_o the_o gospel_n to_o see_v that_o the_o same_o be_v abrogate_a and_o do_v away_o they_o by_o pore_v upon_o these_o thing_n and_o consider_v of_o they_o have_v a_o old_a testastament_n spirit_n beget_v in_o they_o than_o be_v a_o spirit_n much_o like_o unto_o the_o spirit_n of_o saint_n who_o live_v under_o the_o old_a testament_n by_o reason_n whereof_o those_o action_n and_o duty_n which_o flow_v from_o they_o be_v like_o they_o be_v neither_o pure_o gospel_n nor_o pure_o legal_a but_o partake_v somewhat_o of_o either_o hence_o sometime_o slavish_a fear_n sometime_o much_o self-love_n be_v discernible_a in_o their_o action_n which_o thing_n be_v common_a in_o old_a testament_n saint_n and_o yet_o notwithstanding_o as_o those_o be_v to_o their_o walking_n and_o act_n and_o there_o be_v also_o something_o though_o it_o may_v be_v under_o much_o darkness_n of_o the_o new_a covenant_n also_o in_o these_o which_o make_v they_o that_o they_o be_v neither_o pure_a gospel-walkings_a nor_o pure_a legal_a but_o as_o it_o be_v a_o mixture_n of_o either_o they_o be_v in_o short_a gospel_n saint_n but_o in_o a_o old_a testament_n garb_n new_a testament_n saint_n but_o of_o a_o old_a testament_n spirit_n use_v 1_o be_v it_o so_o that_o legal_a walk_n be_v walk_v after_o the_o flesh_n then_o this_o discover_v to_o we_o that_o there_o be_v abundance_n of_o rotten-hearted_a professor_n in_o the_o world_n how_o many_o person_n be_v there_o who_o walk_v after_o the_o flesh_n i_o mean_v who_o be_v pure_a legal_a walker_n shall_v we_o come_v to_o those_o who_o be_v professor_n the_o general_a bulk_n of_o professor_n who_o walk_v in_o a_o way_n of_o duty_n and_o search_v they_o narrow_o we_o shall_v find_v ten_o to_o one_o to_o be_v legal_a walker_n all_o their_o religion_n their_o duty_n their_o prayer_n tear_n repentance_n etc._n etc._n it_o spring_v from_o the_o law_n the_o law_n be_v principle_n and_o motive_n in_o their_o obedience_n the_o great_a and_o only_a wheel_n and_o engine_n that_o turn_v all_o and_o carry_v they_o to_o all_o that_o they_o do_v such_o a_o man_n pray_v in_o his_o family_n be_v a_o frequenter_a of_o sermon_n etc._n etc._n but_o why_o alas_o he_o dare_v not_o do_v otherwise_o the_o law_n overrule_v he_o the_o law_n have_v get_v command_n in_o his_o conscience_n so_o that_o shall_v he_o not_o pray_v etc._n etc._n and_o do_v some_o good_a and_o avoid_v some_o evil_n he_o shall_v have_v no_o peace_n nor_o quiet_a within_o his_o conscience_n will_v be_v his_o tormentor_n and_o continual_o lash_v he_o and_o therefore_o he_o do_v these_o thing_n not_o out_o of_o any_o love_n to_o the_o thing_n he_o do_v no_o he_o hate_v they_o count_v they_o his_o burden_n and_o intolerable_a task_n and_o will_v glad_o can_v he_o find_v a_o way_n to_o avoid_v hell_n and_o get_v heaven_n without_o do_v of_o any_o of_o these_o thing_n throw_v off_o all_o but_o because_o he_o know_v no_o other_o that_o they_o can_v never_o stand_v together_o and_o therefore_o that_o grace_n may_v be_v all_o the_o law_n and_o good_a work_n shall_v be_v nothing_o at_o all_o who_o mistake_n be_v correct_v from_o what_o have_v be_v say_v and_o prove_v that_o the_o moral_a law_n remain_v a_o rule_n to_o saint_n in_o gospel-time_n 2_o a_o mistake_n of_o some_o other_o on_o the_o other_o hand_n who_o out_o of_o zeal_n for_o the_o moral_a law_n do_v hand_n over_o head_n urge_v and_o press_v the_o same_o as_o the_o rule_n of_o saint_n never_o consider_v how_o or_o in_o what_o sense_n the_o same_o remain_v a_o rule_n and_o by_o so_o do_v they_o bring_v the_o glorious_a son_n of_o zion_n the_o freeborn_a saint_n of_o the_o gospel_n under_o the_o power_n and_o command_n of_o a_o covenant_n of_o work_n ere_o they_o be_v aware_a who_o mistake_n be_v correct_v by_o distinguish_v of_o command_n as_o they_o be_v moses_n and_o christ_n in_o the_o first_o sense_n the_o law_n be_v not_o a_o saint_n rule_n and_o it_o be_v dangerous_a so_o to_o make_v it_o in_o the_o latter_a it_o be_v and_o it_o be_v sweet_a and_o comfortable_a so_o to_o receive_v it_o therefore_o you_o that_o be_v saint_n and_o believer_n hence_o learn_v two_o thing_n i_o not_o to_o reject_v the_o moral_a law_n as_o a_o rule_n to_o order_v your_o life_n and_o conversation_n by_o but_o with_o love_n delight_n and_o cheerfulness_n peace_n long-suffering_a gentleness_n goodness_n faith_n meekness_n temperance_n all_o that_o obedience_n therefore_o which_o have_v not_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n for_o the_o principle_n the_o which_o word_n literal_o be_v speak_v of_o the_o jew_n who_o at_o the_o time_n of_o their_o call_n shall_v behold_v that_o jesus_n christ_n who_o their_o nation_n have_v pierce_v spiritual_o it_o be_v expression_n show_v that_o it_o shall_v be_v a_o exceed_a great_a mourning_n and_o that_o so_o too_o as_o it_o shall_v stick_v by_o they_o it_o shall_v not_o light_o pass_v off_o their_o spirit_n and_o glide_v away_o and_o so_o be_v forget_v and_o there_o be_v no_o more_o of_o it_o as_o other_o sorrow_n do_v but_o it_o shall_v be_v a_o exceed_a great_a and_o a_o remain_a mourning_n of_o be_v far_o more_o large_a and_o extensive_a than_o the_o expression_n of_o the_o mouth_n be_v or_o can_v be_v and_o which_o may_v be_v a_o matter_n of_o abundant_a comfort_n to_o we_o the_o answer_n of_o god_n be_v not_o according_a to_o the_o expression_n of_o our_o mouth_n but_o the_o desire_n and_o groan_n of_o his_o own_o spirit_n o_o will_v we_o know_v then_o how_o to_o pray_v as_o we_o look_v upon_o christ_n or_o mourn_v for_o he_o but_o only_o those_o upon_o who_o god_n pour_v his_o spirit_n i_o will_v pour_v out_o my_o spirit_n and_o they_o shall_v look_v and_o they_o shall_v mourn_v i_o shall_v wave_v all_o these_o and_o pitch_n upon_o one_o observation_n from_o the_o latter_a part_n of_o the_o word_n which_o be_v this_o viz_o observe_v true_a gospel-humiliation_n do_v imitation_n of_o other_o the_o example_n of_o other_o some_o thing_n which_o be_v not_o natural_a be_v do_v by_o imitation_n as_o a_o ape_n will_v do_v many_o thing_n by_o imitation_n which_o be_v
