anguish_n and_o distress_n thou_o shall_v have_v often_o cause_v to_o pray_v and_o hunger_n after_o deliverance_n and_o in_o thy_o hunger_n and_o thirst_n thou_o attract_a grace_n to_o thou_o from_o within_o and_o from_o without_o for_o thou_o must_v grow_v from_o above_o and_o from_o beneath_o to_o be_v the_o image_n of_o god_n again_o and_o as_o a_o young_a plant_n be_v stir_v by_o the_o wind_n and_o must_v stand_v in_o heat_n and_o cold_a draw_v strength_n and_o virtue_n to_o it_o from_o above_o and_o from_o beneath_o by_o that_o stir_a and_o must_v endure_v many_o a_o tempest_n and_o undergo_v much_o danger_n before_o it_o can_v come_v to_o be_v a_o tree_n and_o bring_v forth_o fruit_n for_o in_o that_o stir_a the_o virtue_n of_o the_o sun_n come_v to_o move_v in_o it_o whereby_o the_o wild_a property_n of_o that_o plant_n come_v to_o be_v penetrate_v and_o tincture_v or_o qualify_a with_o the_o virtue_n of_o the_o sun_n and_o grow_v thereby_o and_o now_o be_v the_o time_n 11._o we_o tell_v this_o man_n our_o way_n that_o we_o have_v go_v and_o which_o we_o have_v try_v that_o as_o soon_o as_o he_o shall_v discover_v these_o beast_n he_o shall_v that_o very_a hour_n and_o moment_n take_v a_o resolution_n and_o bring_v himself_o into_o a_o will_n to_o depart_v from_o the_o bestial_a will_n and_o by_o true_a repentance_n turn_v to_o god_n and_o goodness_n and_o be_v he_o can_v do_v it_o by_o his_o own_o power_n let_v he_o take_v the_o promise_n of_o christ_n into_o himself_o when_o he_o say_v seek_v and_o you_o shall_v find_v knock_v and_o it_o shall_v be_v open_v unto_o you_o no_o son_n ask_v bread_n of_o his_o father_n and_o he_o give_v he_o a_o stone_n or_o a_o egg_n and_o he_o give_v he_o a_o scorpion_n and_o if_o you_o that_o be_v evil_a can_v give_v good_a gift_n to_o your_o child_n how_o much_o more_o shall_v my_o heavenly_a father_n give_v the_o holy_a ghost_n to_o they_o that_o ask_v he_o for_o it_o 12._o let_v he_o imprint_v this_o promise_n in_o his_o heart_n for_o it_o be_v poison_n and_o death_n to_o the_o devil_n and_o all_o hereditary_a innate_a and_o imprint_v beast_n and_o let_v he_o immediate_o that_o very_a hour_n now_o he_o stand_v in_o the_o presence_n of_o god_n as_o a_o miserable_a naked_a forlorn_a ragged_a keeper_n of_o swine_n that_o have_v spend_v and_o cast_v away_o his_o father_n inheritance_n in_o whoredom_n with_o these_o worldly_a beast_n or_o grave_a image_n and_o have_v no_o more_o right_a to_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n neither_o be_v in_o the_o least_o measure_n worthy_a of_o it_o much_o less_o â—o_o be_v call_v a_o christian_a or_o the_o child_n of_o god._n let_v he_o also_o despair_v of_o all_o the_o good_a work_n that_o ever_o he_o do_v for_o they_o proceed_v but_o from_o a_o hypocritical_a seem_a or_o outside_n holiness_n for_o which_o the_o man_n that_o be_v inward_o a_o devil_n will_v be_v account_v a_o angel_n for_o without_o faith_n it_o be_v impossible_a to_o please_v god_n as_o the_o scripture_n say_v 13_o but_o let_v he_o not_o despair_v of_o the_o divine_a grace_n that_o be_v in_o he_o but_o of_o himself_o only_o and_o of_o his_o own_o power_n and_o strength_n and_o let_v he_o with_o all_o the_o power_n and_o strength_n he_o have_v bow_v down_o himself_o in_o his_o soul_n in_o the_o presence_n of_o god_n and_o though_o his_o own_o heart_n be_v utter_o against_o it_o and_o say_v to_o he_o do_v it_o not_o stay_v a_o while_n it_o will_v not_o be_v convenient_a to_o day_n or_o if_o it_o say_v thy_o sin_n be_v too_o too_o great_a it_o can_v be_v that_o thou_o shall_v attain_v the_o grace_n of_o god_n and_o so_o he_o come_v into_o such_o anguish_n that_o he_o can_v pray_v to_o god_n and_o receive_v no_o comfort_n nor_o strength_n in_o his_o heart_n but_o be_v as_o if_o his_o soul_n be_v quite_o blind_a and_o dead_a to_o god_n and_o goodness_n yet_o he_o must_v be_v resolnte_n consider_v the_o promise_n of_o god_n be_v a_o certain_a infallible_a truth_n and_o with_o a_o submissive_a heart_n sigh_v to_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n and_o in_o his_o great_a unworthiness_n whole_o resign_v himself_o thereto_o 14_o and_o though_o he_o do_v esteem_v himself_o unworthy_a as_o a_o stranger_n and_o alien_n to_o who_o the_o inheritance_n of_o christ_n do_v not_o any_o more_o belong_v he_o have_v lose_v his_o right_n yet_o he_o shall_v steadfast_o rest_v upon_o that_o which_o christ_n say_v know_v that_o what_o he_o say_v be_v certain_o true_a that_o he_o come_v to_o seek_v and_o to_o save_v that_o which_o be_v lose_v viz._n the_o poor_a sinner_n that_o be_v blind_a and_o dead_a to_o god_n he_o must_v firm_o imprint_v this_o promise_n in_o himself_o and_o take_v to_o himself_o such_o a_o strong_a purpose_n and_o resolution_n that_o he_o will_v not_o go_v forth_o from_o the_o promise_a grace_n of_o god_n in_o christ_n though_o body_n and_o soul_n shall_v be_v break_v to_o piece_n and_o though_o he_o shall_v get_v no_o comfort_n in_o his_o heart_n all_o the_o day_n of_o his_o life_n or_o the_o least_o assurance_n of_o the_o remission_n of_o his_o sin_n consider_v that_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n be_v more_o sâ—re_v and_o firm_a than_o all_o comfort_n whatsoever_o 15._o also_o let_v he_o purpose_n to_o himself_o and_o shut_v up_o his_o will_n so_o firm_o in_o this_o resolution_n that_o he_o will_v no_o more_o enter_v into_o the_o former_a bestial_a image_n and_o vice_n again_o though_o all_o his_o swine_n and_o beast_n in_o he_o shall_v lament_v to_o the_o death_n the_o loss_n of_o their_o food_n and_o will_v soon_o become_v weak_a faint_a and_o ready_a to_o die_v for_o christ_n will_v soon_o get_v a_o form_n in_o the_o word_n of_o his_o promise_n which_o that_o man_n imprint_v in_o himself_o and_o clothe_v himself_o withal_o and_o so_o come_v to_o life_n and_o begin_v to_o work_v in_o he_o whereby_o his_o prayer_n will_v be_v more_o powerful_a and_o he_o be_v more_o and_o more_o strengthen_v and_o confirm_v in_o the_o spirit_n of_o grace_n 16._o and_o as_o the_o seed_n in_o the_o mother_n womb_n undergo_v the_o casualty_n of_o nature_n and_o many_o outward_a accident_n in_o grow_v to_o be_v a_o child_n till_o it_o get_v life_n in_o the_o mother_n womb_n so_o here_o the_o more_o a_o man_n go_v forth_o from_o himself_o out_o of_o these_o image_n through_o much_o opposition_n the_o more_o he_o enter_v into_o god_n till_o at_o length_n christ_n come_v to_o be_v live_v in_o the_o incorporate_a grace_n which_o come_v to_o be_v so_o in_o the_o great_a earnestness_n of_o his_o purpose_n upon_o which_o there_o present_o follow_v the_o desponsation_n espouse_v or_o contract_n with_o virgin_n sophia_n viz_o the_o worthy_a humanity_n of_o christ_n where_o the_o two_o lover_n
