old_a they_o say_v they_o dote_v and_o know_v not_o what_o they_o say_v if_o they_o be_v young_a they_o have_v no_o judgement_n nor_o experience_n if_o they_o be_v wealthy_a than_o they_o be_v covetous_a if_o poor_a then_o base_a and_o contemptible_a if_o they_o be_v marry_v they_o can_v not_o follow_v their_o calling_n but_o the_o world_n if_o unmarried_a than_o they_o live_v suspicious_o and_o thus_o to_o say_v no_o more_o it_o be_v fearful_a to_o see_v how_o little_a the_o people_n in_o one_o respect_n or_o other_o be_v season_v with_o the_o sweet_a fruit_n of_o the_o ministry_n to_o any_o true_a measure_n of_o it_o wherein_o it_o be_v to_o be_v mark_v because_o i_o before_o high_o commend_v a_o good_a desire_n that_o a_o naked_a and_o bare_a desire_n of_o salvation_n now_o and_o then_o stir_v up_o in_o man_n be_v not_o to_o believe_v as_o many_o think_v although_o without_o any_o ground_n but_o see_v such_o as_o have_v a_o desire_n sometime_o be_v they_o for_o the_o most_o part_n who_o god_n do_v make_v believer_n for_o while_o man_n be_v void_a of_o that_o there_o be_v little_a hope_n to_o be_v conceive_v of_o they_o i_o will_v therefore_o show_v for_o the_o that_o which_o they_o desire_v to_o hear_v over_o but_o it_o vanish_v whereas_o the_o desire_n of_o the_o other_o can_v be_v satisfy_v without_o it_o but_o mourn_v and_o long_v for_o it_o and_o pine_v for_o sorrow_n when_o any_o thing_n come_v in_o the_o way_n to_o weaken_v the_o hope_n which_o be_v conceive_v of_o it_o till_o that_o be_v remove_v which_o hinder_v they_o from_o that_o benefit_n it_o be_v too_o clear_a a_o token_n desire_n how_o far_o he_o be_v from_o it_o now_o who_o see_v not_o the_o difference_n betwixt_o these_o two_o to_o be_v this_o that_o the_o one_o be_v lead_v by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n whereby_o the_o father_n of_o heaven_n do_v reveal_v this_o secret_a mystery_n of_o faith_n to_o he_o and_o do_v wonderful_o draw_v his_o heart_n unto_o it_o the_o other_o or_o give_v over_o till_o he_o be_v persuade_v that_o all_o tear_n be_v wipe_v away_o and_o therefore_o will_v refuse_v no_o mean_n to_o attain_v to_o it_o by_o attend_v on_o god_n and_o wait_v his_o the_o father_n in_o give_v his_o son_n the_o love_n of_o the_o son_n in_o reconcile_a they_o to_o god_n and_o deliver_v they_o from_o all_o their_o misery_n the_o word_n of_o promise_n preach_v to_o bring_v they_o tiding_n of_o this_o god_n spirit_n assure_v they_o by_o work_a faith_n in_o they_o and_o persuasion_n thereof_o and_o to_o this_o end_n i_o have_v set_v down_o these_o because_o in_o the_o ordinary_a come_n to_o eternal_a life_n there_o be_v no_o other_o way_n yet_o see_v these_o be_v not_o so_o easy_o feel_v of_o we_o as_o they_o be_v sure_a and_o infallible_a ground_n in_o themselves_o to_o we_o of_o salvation_n therefore_o i_o will_v add_v some_o other_o effect_n or_o rather_o property_n of_o true_a faith_n which_o do_v accompany_v the_o assurance_n of_o the_o love_n of_o god_n and_o of_o christ_n jesus_n in_o we_o and_o be_v the_o work_n or_o fruit_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n by_o the_o gospel_n which_o although_o they_o be_v not_o of_o like_a authority_n with_o the_o former_a yet_o be_v they_o easy_o feel_v to_o be_v in_o us._n so_o that_o both_o sort_n of_o evidence_n lay_v together_o and_o meeting_n and_o concur_v in_o one_o and_o the_o same_o person_n shall_v give_v he_o most_o clear_o to_o understand_v that_o as_o god_n have_v graciouslie_o bestow_v it_o so_o we_o may_v effectual_o receive_v and_o hold_v it_o as_o our_o own_o and_o that_o with_o more_o certainty_n every_o day_n as_o our_o salvation_n shall_v every_o day_n be_v near_o than_o when_o we_o first_o believe_v and_o thus_o i_o come_v unto_o the_o three_o general_a part_n of_o this_o treatise_n wherein_o see_v i_o hope_v the_o weak_a believer_n be_v or_o may_v be_v somewhat_o stay_v by_o that_o which_o i_o have_v say_v already_o i_o now_o purpose_n in_o this_o last_o part_n to_o show_v how_o all_o such_o of_o god_n people_n as_o be_v stay_v from_o strong_a fear_n &_o trouble_v of_o mind_n may_v by_o other_o clear_a evidence_n have_v further_a proof_n and_o trial_n of_o their_o faith_n and_o be_v able_a to_o preserve_v and_o confirm_v it_o and_o how_o much_o such_o a_o estate_n be_v to_o be_v desire_v for_o the_o benefit_n it_o bring_v and_o first_o to_o teach_v the_o believer_n to_o try_v that_o he_o have_v this_o excellent_a gift_n of_o faith_n these_o eight_o grace_n be_v companion_n of_o it_o and_o more_o easy_o perceive_v and_o discern_v than_o faith_n itself_o will_v clear_o testify_v that_o where_o these_o be_v there_o shall_v that_o be_v find_v also_o 1.8_o this_o true_a believer_n therefore_o whosoever_o he_o be_v first_o as_o soon_o as_o he_o hearer_n shall_v not_o and_o yet_o such_o teach_n while_o you_o be_v sure_a that_o it_o have_v do_v yourselves_o much_o good_a shall_v set_v such_o a_o edge_n on_o your_o doctrine_n by_o your_o more_o lively_a cheerful_a and_o powerful_a deliver_v of_o it_o that_o it_o shall_v far_o more_o easy_o procure_v a_o appetite_n in_o the_o people_n to_o receive_v it_o as_o they_o do_v in_o john_n baptist_n time_n with_o greediness_n 11._o and_o as_o it_o be_v with_o violence_n and_o so_o that_o if_o they_o be_v not_o bring_v to_o the_o true_a practice_n of_o christianity_n by_o it_o they_o will_v not_o be_v bring_v to_o it_o by_o any_o other_o teach_v and_o this_o i_o wish_v that_o you_o be_v not_o of_o the_o mind_n that_o some_o have_v be_v of_o for_o it_o be_v no_o opinion_n fit_a for_o the_o minister_n of_o god_n that_o be_v to_o say_v that_o they_o think_v though_o some_o preach_v by_o experience_n yet_o no_o man_n be_v bind_v to_o do_v so_o as_o though_o it_o be_v in_o man_n choice_n to_o do_v which_o they_o list_v when_o we_o know_v that_o the_o good_a shepherd_n do_v go_v before_o the_o sheep_n 10.4_o and_o they_o follow_v he_o and_o if_o he_o go_v before_o they_o in_o example_n of_o good_a life_n than_o he_o can_v choose_v but_o teach_v they_o by_o experience_n that_o which_o he_o himself_o do_v practice_v in_o his_o good_a example_n and_o so_o he_o that_o shall_v think_v that_o he_o be_v not_o bind_v to_o teach_v by_o experience_n as_o well_o as_o by_o the_o letter_n conclude_v that_o he_o be_v not_o bind_v to_o be_v a_o good_a man_n himself_o who_o teach_v teach_v now_o i_o have_v say_v what_o i_o purpose_v i_o will_v go_v forward_o in_o teach_v labour_n much_o in_o this_o manner_n which_o i_o have_v mention_v to_o beat_v into_o the_o people_n with_o make_v it_o plain_a to_o they_o how_o they_o may_v be_v assure_v of_o their_o salvation_n as_o i_o have_v teach_v in_o the_o first_o treatise_n beat_v in_o i_o say_v this_o doctrine_n of_o believe_v that_o god_n will_v minister_v all_o help_n to_o enable_v they_o to_o live_v godly_a for_o in_o both_o point_n if_o view_n may_v be_v take_v throughout_o this_o dominion_n it_o shall_v be_v find_v that_o the_o people_n be_v ignorant_a and_o to_o seek_v both_o how_o to_o come_v to_o the_o assurance_n of_o salvation_n and_o also_o how_o they_o shall_v be_v right_o teach_v to_o lead_v a_o godly_a and_o a_o christian_a life_n and_o how_o come_v this_o to_o pass_v but_o because_o man_n teach_v not_o oft_o of_o which_o all_o may_v see_v what_o need_n there_o be_v or_o else_o they_o do_v not_o in_o the_o same_o thing_n but_o in_o the_o evidence_n of_o the_o spirit_n and_o in_o renew_v our_o labour_n and_o pain_n even_o about_o the_o same_o doctrine_n which_o we_o teach_v before_o it_o shall_v be_v so_o far_o from_o be_v wearisome_a and_o tedious_a that_o the_o best_a hearer_n shall_v affirm_v that_o they_o can_v hear_v they_o too_o oft_o but_o desire_v with_o all_o their_o heart_n to_o little_o see_v or_o enjoy_v therefore_o be_v there_o such_o negligence_n in_o repair_v to_o they_o and_o unreverence_n disorder_n yea_o and_o profane_a behaviour_n in_o the_o administer_a and_o himself_o have_v a_o promise_n that_o they_o shall_v be_v hear_v in_o all_o thing_n that_o be_v good_a for_o they_o even_o the_o most_o excellent_a and_o do_v then_o empty_a their_o heart_n by_o objection_n will_v here_o be_v put_v forth_o unto_o i_o that_o they_o will_v if_o they_o dare_v be_v so_o bold_a believe_v with_o all_o their_o heart_n that_o god_n will_v subdue_v and_o slay_v their_o sin_n and_o lead_v they_o forward_o to_o live_v godly_a if_o they_o can_v first_o overcome_v some_o particular_a sin_n which_o do_v most_o trouble_v they_o but_o as_o long_o as_o they_o prevail_v in_o they_o they_o dare_v not_o think_v they_o say_v that_o god_n will_v give_v they_o that_o grace_n answer_n which_o he_o do_v unto_o other_o but_o to_o answer_v they_o i_o have_v say_v before_o that_o they_o have_v no_o power_n in_o they_o of_o their_o own_o whereby_o they_o may_v weaken_v any_o sin_n in_o they_o but_o this_o they_o must_v obtain_v by_o faith_n as_o well_o as_o grace_v to_o live_v and_o that_o command_v they_o to_o do_v so_o that_o they_o may_v know_v it_o please_v they_o that_o they_o shall_v do_v so_o 3.23_o and_o till_o that_o they_o be_v hold_v from_o their_o own_o right_n through_o the_o devil_n craft_n who_o hide_v from_o they_o as_o their_o evidence_n this_o confidence_n in_o god_n even_o as_o if_o a_o subtle_a man_n shall_v keep_v back_o from_o of_o the_o best_a sort_n of_o papist_n who_o live_v not_o by_o faith_n but_o please_v themselves_o in_o this_o that_o their_o work_n be_v good_a if_o they_o do_v the_o outward_a work_n which_o god_n and_o their_o church_n commend_v all_o of_o they_o remain_v and_o continue_v in_o the_o damnable_a estate_n they_o be_v in_o at_o the_o beginning_n neither_o do_v i_o marvel_v at_o this_o which_o speech_n provoke_v one_o another_o cause_n suit_n and_o controversy_n which_o need_v never_o have_v be_v and_o render_v like_o hard_a measure_n again_o as_o have_v be_v offer_v do_v not_o debt_n and_o familiarity_n with_o they_o as_o it_o please_v he_o to_o call_v it_o their_o joy_n be_v yet_o more_o increase_v especial_o after_o a_o long_o continue_v acquaintance_n with_o the_o lord_n in_o his_o word_n and_o what_o be_v happiness_n such_o i_o mean_v as_o in_o this_o present_a life_n may_v be_v enjoy_v if_o this_o be_v not_o namely_o to_o partake_v all_o these_o with_o he_o thus_o to_o go_v in_o and_o out_o before_o the_o lord_n and_o to_o have_v he_o thus_o the_o staff_n of_o our_o comfort_n in_o all_o estate_n which_o make_v ready_a to_o die_v and_o fit_a to_o live_v and_o give_v great_a gain_n in_o both_o then_o in_o any_o other_o condition_n or_o course_n can_v be_v find_v and_o enjoy_v yea_o this_o make_v the_o injoyer_n of_o it_o happy_a here_o and_o certain_a that_o afterward_o they_o shall_v be_v happy_a for_o ever_o and_o though_o sathan_n do_v much_o quail_v this_o by_o occasion_n of_o trouble_n and_o our_o frailty_n yet_o it_o be_v certain_a that_o it_o shall_v be_v recover_v again_o this_o in_o few_o word_n be_v that_o which_o i_o wish_v the_o true_a christian_a reader_n to_o meditate_v on_o and_o consider_v which_o all_o god_n people_n have_v so_o great_a need_n to_o enjoy_v and_o partake_v by_o faith_n as_o it_o must_v needs_o grieve_v all_o that_o do_v understand_v and_o love_v the_o excellency_n of_o it_o to_o see_v so_o many_o to_o be_v void_a thereof_o to_o who_o yet_o the_o lord_n have_v gracious_o and_o free_o bequeath_v it_o and_o i_o pray_v god_n in_o most_o fervent_a manner_n to_o enlarge_v the_o heart_n of_o all_o his_o good_a servant_n that_o see_v many_o mourn_n in_o zion_n and_o be_v hold_v down_o with_o sundry_a and_o sore_a affliction_n till_o they_o faint_v again_o as_o though_o there_o be_v no_o comfort_n to_o be_v find_v for_o they_o to_o the_o ease_n of_o their_o heavy_a heart_n that_o they_o may_v consider_v what_o the_o lord_n have_v provide_v for_o the_o ease_n of_o they_o even_o this_o to_o believe_v that_o all_o the_o forementioned_a privilege_n belong_v unto_o they_o that_o though_o their_o sorrow_n be_v many_o and_o great_a yet_o they_o may_v not_o drive_v they_o from_o hope_n in_o god_n but_o send_v they_o more_o earnest_o to_o groan_v to_o he_o by_o prayer_n that_o they_o may_v receive_v and_o take_v these_o thing_n to_o their_o comfort_n which_o he_o for_o that_o very_a cause_n have_v commit_v to_o writing_n that_o those_o his_o child_n which_o be_v bring_v low_a and_o into_o distress_n and_o almost_o to_o utter_v despair_n may_v lift_v up_o their_o head_n and_o rejoice_v for_o so_o great_a hope_n of_o redemption_n and_o deliverance_n at_o hand_n come_v towards_o they_o and_o this_o will_v recompense_v abundant_o all_o the_o labour_n that_o have_v be_v take_v and_o need_v no_o more_o be_v lose_v when_o it_o be_v once_o enjoy_v and_o therefore_o if_o the_o believer_n may_v know_v by_o god_n word_n that_o they_o have_v a_o part_n in_o all_o the_o forementioned_a prerogative_n and_o therefore_o delight_v in_o his_o word_n which_o bring_v such_o tiding_n to_o they_o if_o they_o may_v thereby_o be_v make_v acquaint_v with_o that_o manner_n of_o conversation_n which_o please_v god_n best_o and_o make_v most_o for_o their_o own_o comfort_n and_o by_o his_o spirit_n may_v have_v communion_n with_o he_o which_o the_o world_n can_v have_v i_o conclude_v i_o say_v that_o the_o believer_n have_v great_a prerogative_n bequeath_v they_o and_o that_o the_o privilege_n which_o god_n have_v grant_v out_o unto_o his_o belove_a be_v most_o precious_a and_o worthy_a all_o labour_n and_o travel_v to_o be_v come_v by_o and_o that_o i_o say_v no_o more_o of_o this_o it_o be_v no_o hard_a matter_n to_o conceive_v what_o sweet_a consolation_n a_o believe_a heart_n enjoy_v which_o have_v experience_n of_o this_o for_o he_o believe_v the_o promise_n of_o these_o thing_n from_o day_n to_o day_n and_o have_v most_o sweet_a peace_n of_o conscience_n with_o confidence_n as_o a_o fruit_n of_o believe_v they_o already_o how_o great_a must_v his_o comfort_n need_v be_v which_o arise_v from_o both_o and_o especial_o for_o the_o hope_n which_o he_o have_v of_o that_o which_o be_v yet_o to_o come_v oh_o that_o all_o who_o fear_n god_n do_v believe_v this_o as_o they_o may_v bold_o and_o aught_o confident_o to_o do_v that_o they_o may_v enrich_v themselves_o by_o have_v their_o part_n in_o it_o from_o time_n to_o time_n experience_n so_o that_o nothing_o be_v more_o to_o be_v lament_v in_o the_o world_n than_o this_o that_o god_n have_v call_v man_n to_o be_v partaker_n of_o so_o excellent_a privilege_n and_o appoint_v for_o they_o such_o variety_n of_o blessing_n whereof_o i_o have_v mention_v but_o some_o part_n that_o they_o shall_v be_v so_o ignorant_a as_o not_o to_o desire_v to_o know_v they_o so_o careless_a as_o to_o reject_v they_o so_o obstinate_a as_o to_o tread_v they_o under_o foot_n and_o so_o to_o lead_v a_o life_n i_o may_v true_o say_v full_a of_o misery_n for_o want_n of_o they_o but_o while_o i_o set_v down_o this_o i_o think_v i_o hear_v some_o object_v thus_o objection_n how_o can_v we_o be_v persuade_v that_o god_n have_v provide_v this_o liberty_n for_o his_o in_o this_o world_n 126.5_o when_o both_o scripture_n call_v our_o life_n here_o when_o we_o be_v in_o great_a prosperity_n a_o wander_a up_o and_o down_o heavy_o as_o in_o a_o pilgrimage_n or_o wilderness_n and_o a_o sow_v in_o tear_n that_o be_v to_o say_v full_a of_o grief_n and_o christ_n tell_v he_o that_o in_o the_o world_n they_o shall_v find_v tribulation_n and_o that_o by_o many_o affliction_n and_o persecution_n we_o must_v enter_v into_o his_o kingdom_n and_o experience_n also_o teach_v that_o these_o thing_n be_v even_o so_o answer_n
