the_o almighty_a god_n to_o see_v a_o youth_n pass_v over_o his_o young_a year_n without_o a_o notable_a inconvenience_n either_o to_o body_n or_o soul_n or_o both_o without_o some_o notable_a scar_n as_o we_o speak_v for_o there_o be_v no_o youth_n there_o be_v none_o that_o take_v flesh_n that_o be_v beget_v of_o man_n but_o in_o his_o youth_n he_o be_v subject_a to_o one_o vice_n or_o other_o and_o there_o be_v few_o but_o they_o be_v subject_a to_o many_o but_o there_o be_v no_o youth_n that_o ever_o proceed_v of_o the_o womb_n of_o a_o woman_n but_o in_o his_o youth_n before_o his_o look_v to_o what_o vice_n thou_o have_v addict_v thou_o in_o service_n the_o affection_n of_o that_o vice_n ordinary_o command_v thou_o the_o ground_n of_o this_o flow_v from_o the_o heart_n of_o man_n and_o from_o the_o nature_n of_o man_n which_o be_v corrupt_v in_o the_o first_o adam_n for_o such_o be_v the_o condition_n and_o estate_n of_o the_o heart_n of_o man_n so_o long_o as_o we_o remain_v in_o our_o natural_a estate_n that_o the_o heart_n of_o every_o man_n &_o of_o every_o woman_n that_o ever_o be_v beget_v and_o bear_v carry_v about_o in_o it_o the_o feed_v of_o all_o kind_n of_o vice_n and_o impiety_n that_o vice_n be_v not_o so_o monstrous_a nor_o that_o wickedness_n so_o ugly_a which_o our_o ear_n or_o any_o of_o our_o sense_n abhor_v to_o hear_v or_o see_v but_o the_o seed_n of_o that_o same_o vice_n lurk_v and_o lie_v natural_o in_o the_o heart_n it_o be_v true_a indeed_o that_o all_o these_o seed_n do_v not_o bud_v out_o that_o all_o these_o seed_n spring_v not_o that_o man_n burst_v not_o forth_o into_o all_o high_a impiety_n in_o their_o external_a and_o outward_a action_n but_o there_o come_v a_o restraint_n into_o the_o soul_n whereby_o we_o be_v restrain_v from_o these_o same_o action_n whereunto_o some_o man_n burst_v forth_o and_o show_v what_o they_o be_v to_o the_o world_n this_o restraint_n whereby_o i_o abstain_v and_o thou_o fall_v in_o sin_n i_o keep_v close_o and_o thou_o burste_a forth_n come_v no_o more_o of_o my_o nature_n nor_o of_o thou_o that_o do_v the_o turn_n but_o of_o the_o grace_n &_o providence_n of_o the_o heaven_n in_o this_o earth_n though_o we_o begin_v our_o heaven_n here_o yet_o we_o get_v it_o not_o full_o here_o and_o if_o all_o corruption_n be_v take_v away_o what_o shall_v there_o want_v of_o a_o full_a heaven_n here_o so_o it_o be_v only_o begin_v in_o this_o life_n and_o not_o perfect_v therefore_o there_o remain_v in_o the_o soul_n a_o great_a corruption_n which_o be_v never_o idle_a but_o continual_o occupy_v this_o corruption_n be_v ever_o bring_v forth_o the_o birth_n of_o sin_n more_o or_o less_o every_o sin_n hurt_v the_o conscience_n a_o hurt_a conscience_n impair_v the_o and_o by_o repentance_n to_o repair_v our_o faith_n to_o repair_v the_o sense_n and_o feel_n of_o mercy_n in_o we_o and_o to_o put_v we_o in_o that_o same_o state_n of_o persuasion_n wherein_o we_o be_v before_o therefore_o if_o god_n begin_v not_o continue_v not_o &_o end_v not_o with_o mercy_n in_o that_o very_a moment_n that_o he_o abstracts_n his_o mercy_n from_o we_o we_o will_v decay_v wickedness_n into_o which_o we_o daily_o fall_v it_o be_v true_a that_o the_o effect_n of_o a_o lively_a faith_n will_v be_v interrupt_v and_o that_o thy_o lust_n and_o affection_n will_v prevail_v for_o a_o long_a time_n so_o that_o when_o thou_o look_v on_o thyself_o upon_o the_o judgement_n of_o god_n that_o hang_v over_o thy_o soul_n and_o body_n &_o when_o thou_o look_v upon_o thy_o dissolute_a life_n and_o on_o the_o anger_n of_o god_n against_o this_o dissolute_a life_n in_o the_o mind_n in_o the_o heart_n and_o conscience_n of_o he_o that_o have_v so_o smother_v and_o oppress_v his_o faith_n it_o will_v oft_o time_n come_v to_o pass_v in_o his_o own_o judgement_n have_v his_o eye_n fix_v on_o himself_o only_o that_o he_o will_v think_v himself_o to_o be_v a_o reprobate_n to_o be_v a_o outcast_n and_o never_o able_a to_o recover_v mercy_n where_o this_o corruption_n burst_v forth_o in_o this_o gross_a manner_n after_o that_o the_o lord_n have_v call_v thou_o look_v how_o soon_o the_o lord_n begin_v to_o waken_v thou_o again_o incontinent_a thou_o fixe_v thy_o eyâ—s_n upon_o thy_o own_o life_n and_o enterest_n into_o a_o deep_a consideration_n as_o well_o of_o the_o weight_n of_o thy_o sin_n as_o of_o the_o weight_n of_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n which_o thou_o see_v follow_v thereupon_o and_o be_v loath_a to_o remit_v these_o cogitation_n to_o why_o because_o he_o have_v appoint_v they_o as_o instrument_n whereby_o he_o will_v deliver_v his_o own_o son_n unto_o us._n for_o this_o be_v certain_a that_o none_o have_v power_n to_o deliver_v christ_n jesus_n unto_o we_o except_o god_n and_o his_o holy_a spirit_n and_o therefore_o to_o speak_v proper_o there_o be_v none_o can_v deliver_v christ_n but_o god_n by_o his_o own_o spirit_n he_o they_o be_v say_v to_o deliver_v he_o but_o here_o you_o have_v to_o distinguish_v between_o the_o principal_a efficient_a deliverer_n &_o the_o instrumental_a efficient_a which_o be_v the_o word_n &_o sacrament_n keep_v this_o distinction_n both_o these_o be_v true_a god_n by_o his_o word_n &_o god_n by_o his_o spirit_n deliver_v christ_n jesus_n unto_o you_o then_o i_o say_v i_o call_v they_o the_o substance_n whereof_o never_o come_v into_o my_o mouth_n be_v it_o possible_a my_o drought_n can_v be_v slacken_v with_o that_o drink_n that_o never_o pass_v down_o my_o throat_n be_v it_o possible_a that_o i_o can_v suck_v any_o virtue_n out_o of_o any_o thing_n except_o i_o get_v the_o substance_n first_o so_o it_o be_v impossible_a that_o i_o can_v get_v the_o juice_n and_o virtue_n that_o flow_v out_o of_o christ_n except_o i_o get_v the_o substance_n that_o be_v himself_o first_o so_o i_o call_v not_o the_o thing_n signify_v the_o grace_n and_o virtue_n that_o flow_v from_o christ_n only_o nor_o christ_n himself_o and_o his_o substance_n without_o his_o virtue_n and_o grace_n only_o but_o joint_o the_o substance_n with_o the_o grace_n whole_a christ_n god_n and_o man_n without_o separation_n of_o his_o nature_n without_o distinguish_v of_o his_o substance_n from_o his_o grace_n i_o call_v the_o thing_n signify_v by_o the_o sign_n in_o the_o sacrament_n for_o why_o if_o no_o more_o be_v signify_v by_o the_o bread_n but_o the_o flesh_n and_o body_n of_o christ_n only_o and_o no_o more_o be_v signify_v by_o the_o wine_n but_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n only_o thou_o can_v not_o say_v that_o the_o body_n of_o christ_n be_v christ_n it_o be_v but_o a_o part_n of_o christ_n thou_o can_v not_o say_v that_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n be_v whole_a christ_n it_o be_v but_o a_o part_n of_o he_o and_o a_o piece_n of_o thy_o saviour_n save_v thou_o not_o a_o part_n of_o thy_o saviour_n wrought_v not_o the_o work_n of_o thy_o salvation_n and_o so_o suppose_v thou_o get_v a_o piece_n of_o he_o in_o the_o sacrament_n that_o part_n will_v do_v thou_o no_o good_a to_o the_o end_n therefore_o that_o this_o sacrament_n may_v nourish_v thou_o to_o life_n everlasting_a thou_o must_v get_v in_o it_o thy_o whole_a saviour_n whole_a christ_n god_n and_o man_n with_o his_o whole_a grace_n and_o benefit_n without_o separation_n of_o his_o substance_n from_o his_o grace_n or_o of_o the_o one_o nature_n from_o the_o other_o and_o how_o get_v i_o he_o not_o by_o my_o mouth_n it_o be_v a_o vain_a thing_n to_o think_v that_o we_o will_v get_v god_n by_o our_o mouth_n but_o we_o get_v he_o by_o faith_n as_o he_o be_v a_o spirit_n so_o i_o eat_v he_o by_o faith_n and_o belief_n in_o my_o soul_n not_o by_o the_o tooth_n of_o my_o mouth_n that_o be_v a_o church_n in_o his_o country_n nor_o of_o his_o faithful_a subject_n as_o to_o the_o reason_n i_o will_v not_o stand_v precise_o in_o justify_v of_o they_o all_o i_o think_v as_o the_o word_n sound_v that_o there_o be_v some_o thing_n worthy_a of_o praise_n and_o commendation_n in_o they_o and_o some_o thing_n worthy_a of_o dispraise_n and_o reproof_n for_o so_o far_o as_o they_o flow_v of_o faith_n and_o of_o the_o good_a spirit_n of_o god_n no_o question_n they_o be_v worthy_a of_o praise_n and_o so_o far_o as_o they_o flow_v from_o the_o king_n unruly_a affection_n they_o be_v worthy_a of_o dispraise_n and_o sure_o it_o appear_v by_o the_o word_n that_o his_o affection_n have_v be_v somewhat_o unruly_a well_o the_o lesson_n that_o i_o gather_v be_v this_o be_v the_o profit_n that_o we_o reap_v of_o these_o preposterous_a affection_n they_o draw_v our_o love_n from_o god_n to_o the_o creature_n and_o ere_o these_o affection_n can_v be_v draw_v from_o the_o creature_n they_o bring_v such_o a_o grief_n unto_o they_o as_o it_o be_v another_o death_n therefore_o the_o thing_n that_o we_o crave_v be_v that_o you_o shall_v set_v your_o affection_n upon_o god_n the_o truth_n of_o love_n be_v in_o god_n and_o therefore_o it_o become_v you_o to_o bring_v your_o heart_n from_o the_o creature_n unto_o god_n and_o employ_v your_o affection_n upon_o he_o in_o who_o only_o be_v solid_a joy_n thus_o far_o we_o proceed_v in_o our_o last_o exercise_n sermon_n now_o in_o the_o word_n which_o i_o have_v read_v he_o return_v to_o his_o complaint_n and_o he_o take_v up_o his_o and_o his_o web_n as_o to_o the_o first_o similitude_n he_o say_v his_o life_n be_v to_o be_v transport_v from_o he_o like_o a_o shepherd_n tent_n look_v how_o the_o tent_n of_o shepherd_n be_v remove_v transport_v and_o remove_v so_o say_v the_o king_n he_o see_v his_o life_n to_o be_v subject_a to_o the_o same_o transportation_n it_o be_v know_v to_o you_o all_o that_o read_v history_n that_o in_o the_o east_n hot_a country_n as_o namely_o among_o the_o tartar_n and_o arabian_n where_o the_o shepherd_n in_o the_o summer_n season_v remain_v under_o tent_n so_o often_o as_o they_o condition_n similitude_n of_o this_o similitude_n we_o have_v matter_n full_a of_o good_a doctrine_n for_o this_o similitude_n do_v first_o teach_v we_o that_o there_o be_v nothing_o more_o instable_a &_o uncertain_a then_o be_v the_o life_n of_o man_n here_o beneath_o there_o be_v nothing_o more_o subject_a to_o instability_n then_o this_o life_n which_o we_o live_v in_o this_o body_n for_o as_o to_o the_o nature_n of_o tent_n you_o see_v whether_o you_o call_v they_o tent_n pavilion_n or_o tabernacle_n all_o be_v one_o by_o experience_n there_o be_v nothing_o more_o unstable_a nor_o uncertain_a to_o dwell_v in_o then_o be_v a_o tent_n for_o why_o it_o lack_v a_o ground_n it_o lack_v a_o foundation_n and_o stability_n and_o in_o stead_n of_o a_o ground_n it_o lean_v only_o to_o certain_a pin_n which_o enter_v not_o deep_o into_o the_o earth_n and_o consequent_o by_o the_o light_a blast_n of_o every_o wind_n they_o be_v blow_v up_o and_o when_o the_o pin_n fail_v the_o tent_n fall_v so_o the_o king_n will_v teach_v we_o by_o this_o similitude_n that_o this_o life_n of_o we_o lack_v a_o ground_n lack_v a_o foundation_n and_o lack_v a_o stability_n and_o therefore_o the_o king_n in_o this_o comparison_n will_v send_v we_o to_o the_o life_n which_o have_v the_o sure_a ground_n foundation_n and_o stability_n he_o send_v we_o to_o that_o kingdom_n which_o as_o the_o apostle_n heb._n 12._o say_v can_v be_v shake_v by_o no_o kind_n of_o stormy_a blast_n and_o as_o i_o remember_v heb._n 11_o 9.10_o there_o in_o these_o verse_n the_o apostle_n make_v a_o flat_a opposition_n betwixt_o these_o tent_n that_o lack_v a_o ground_n and_o the_o city_n of_o god_n say_v that_o as_o tent_n and_o tabernable_v lack_v a_o foundation_n and_o ground_n so_o the_o city_n of_o god_n on_o the_o contrary_n have_v a_o ground_n and_o a_o foundation_n and_o in_o steed_n of_o one_o he_o call_v they_o in_o the_o plural_a number_n foundation_n look_v say_v he_o to_o the_o city_n that_o have_v the_o foundation_n who_o craftsman_n and_o builder_n be_v the_o god_n of_o heaven_n he_o expound_v himself_o what_o he_o mean_v by_o the_o foundation_n in_o the_o last_o verse_n where_o he_o say_v such_o a_o kingdom_n as_o can_v be_v shake_v that_o be_v who_o ground_n be_v so_o sure_a that_o it_o can_v be_v shake_v nor_o totter_v by_o no_o process_n of_o time_n nor_o stormy_a blast_n then_o the_o first_o lesson_n that_o you_o have_v from_o this_o part_n of_o the_o comparison_n be_v this_o learn_v to_o seek_v for_o the_o city_n that_o have_v sure_a foundation_n seek_v for_o the_o city_n that_o can_v not_o be_v shake_v the_o lord_n give_v you_o grace_v so_o to_o do_v in_o the_o other_o part_n of_o the_o comparison_n he_o let_v we_o see_v that_o so_o long_o as_o we_o be_v in_o this_o life_n we_o have_v no_o pernament_n abode_n nor_o certain_a remain_a whereunto_o we_o may_v lean_v for_o as_o you_o may_v perceive_v by_o the_o history_n of_o genesis_n the_o patriarch_n dwell_v in_o ten_o to_o testify_v unto_o we_o two_o thing_n first_o tent_n to_o testify_v that_o they_o be_v no_o countryman_n there_o nor_o native_a bear_v man_n of_o that_o country_n but_o stranger_n and_o pilgrim_n in_o that_o country_n and_o as_o they_o profess_v themselves_o that_o they_o be_v not_o only_a stranger_n of_o that_o country_n but_o count_v themselves_o stranger_a so_o long_o as_o they_o remain_v on_o the_o face_n of_o this_o earth_n the_o second_o thing_n that_o they_o testify_v by_o dwell_v in_o tent_n be_v that_o they_o be_v mind_v not_o to_o remain_v there_o it_o be_v not_o their_o purpose_n to_o fix_v their_o staff_n as_o we_o speak_v there_o but_o they_o be_v upon_o their_o journey_n and_o seek_v the_o way_n that_o lead_v homeward_o the_o way_n that_o
servant_n nor_o the_o murderer_n because_o he_o be_v your_o kinsman_n nor_o the_o oppressor_n because_o he_o be_v your_o dependent_a therefore_o in_o time_n lay_v they_o aside_o and_o let_v the_o execution_n declare_v that_o no_o man_n be_v spare_v for_o fear_n or_o favour_n thus_o far_o for_o the_o first_o point_n the_o next_o point_n that_o we_o have_v to_o speak_v of_o be_v that_o the_o thing_n that_o youth_n shall_v chief_o seek_v after_o straitlie_o pursue_v and_o follow_v the_o apostle_n here_o set_v down_o to_o wit_n they_o ought_v to_o seek_v after_o the_o gift_n of_o repentance_n after_o see_v it_o be_v the_o spirit_n that_o must_v mortify_v the_o lust_n and_o affection_n of_o the_o youth_n they_o shall_v seek_v the_o spirit_n of_o repentance_n this_o gift_n of_o repentance_n here_o be_v call_v the_o gift_n of_o god_n and_o that_o every_o one_o of_o you_o may_v understand_v the_o better_a what_o this_o repentance_n mean_v for_o suppose_v this_o doctrine_n sound_a in_o your_o ear_n daily_o yet_o it_o sound_v not_o in_o your_o heart_n there_o be_v few_o that_o be_v their_o heart_n have_v a_o feel_n what_o the_o spirit_n of_o repentance_n mean_v repentance_n to_o bring_v you_o therefore_o to_o the_o better_a feeling_n and_o to_o the_o better_a knowledge_n of_o it_o we_o shall_v keep_v this_o order_n in_o deduce_v of_o it_o first_o we_o shall_v mark_v the_o word_n itself_o second_o we_o shall_v examine_v the_o part_n of_o it_o three_o we_o shall_v let_v you_o see_v who_o be_v the_o worker_n and_o who_o be_v the_o efficient_a cause_n that_o work_v it_o four_o by_o what_o instrument_n it_o be_v wrought_v five_o who_o be_v the_o author_n and_o the_o giver_n of_o it_o and_o last_o of_o all_o how_o many_o sort_n of_o true_a repentance_n there_o be_v as_o for_o the_o word_n itself_o if_o you_o will_v take_v heed_n to_o the_o force_n of_o it_o and_o take_v heed_n to_o the_o signification_n of_o it_o it_o have_v this_o force_n take_v general_o repentance_n to_o signify_v a_o sadness_n for_o the_o thing_n do_v such_o a_o dolour_n for_o the_o thing_n do_v so_o that_o it_o will_v glad_o have_v it_o undo_v again_o i_o call_v it_o a_o sadness_n for_o the_o thing_n do_v whether_o it_o be_v good_a or_o evil_n or_o howsoever_o it_o be_v it_o will_v have_v it_o undo_v again_o take_v the_o word_n general_o it_o signify_v this_o dolour_n the_o apostle_n 2._o corinth_n 7._o set_v down_o two_o sort_n of_o dolour_n repentance_n two_o sort_n of_o sorrow_n or_o dolour_n raise_v in_o the_o heart_n of_o man_n he_o call_v the_o first_o sort_n a_o worldly_a dolour_n or_o sadness_n he_o call_v it_o no_o doubt_n a_o worldly_a dolour_n and_o sadness_n because_o it_o be_v conceive_v for_o a_o worldly_a respect_n because_o it_o be_v conceive_v for_o a_o worldly_a and_o fleshly_a end_n when_o a_o man_n begin_v to_o be_v sorrowful_a for_o the_o thing_n that_o be_v do_v not_o so_o much_o for_o god_n cause_n or_o for_o any_o reverence_n he_o bear_v to_o the_o infinite_a majesty_n of_o god_n who_o he_o have_v offend_v as_o for_o the_o present_a pain_n that_o be_v upon_o his_o body_n for_o the_o present_a grief_n that_o be_v in_o his_o conscience_n or_o for_o any_o worldly_a or_o fleshly_a respect_n in_o this_o case_n where_o god_n be_v always_o neglect_v where_o the_o sorrow_n be_v not_o for_o god_n cause_n that_o be_v a_o worldly_a and_o a_o earthly_a sorrow_n and_o this_o kind_n of_o sorrow_n i_o can_v call_v no_o other_o thing_n but_o a_o blind_a terror_n vexation_n and_o anguish_n of_o conscience_n i_o call_v it_o blind_a in_o these_o respect_n terror_n first_o by_o reason_n they_o see_v no_o issue_n for_o their_o estate_n no_o doubt_n be_v the_o more_o tolerable_a if_o they_o see_v any_o hope_n of_o ease_n that_o they_o may_v have_v some_o rest_n and_o ease_v in_o their_o conscience_n but_o they_o be_v always_o blind_a &_o all_o sight_n of_o rest_n be_v take_v from_o such_o a_o conscience_n it_o be_v blind_a also_o in_o respect_n they_o know_v not_o from_o who_o it_o come_v who_o it_o be_v that_o strike_v they_o with_o this_o that_o they_o may_v come_v unto_o he_o by_o amendment_n they_o see_v not_o that_o it_o come_v from_o god_n and_o as_o they_o be_v ignorant_a of_o this_o they_o be_v ignorant_a of_o the_o cause_n that_o procure_v it_o they_o be_v ignorant_a that_o their_o own_o sin_n and_o wickedness_n be_v the_o cause_n that_o procure_v it_o so_o the_o ignorance_n of_o these_o three_o make_v it_o to_o be_v a_o blind_a torment_n and_o this_o kind_n of_o torment_n which_o i_o call_v a_o blind_a torment_n either_o it_o be_v increase_v in_o a_o high_a degree_n or_o else_o it_o be_v mitigate_v that_o they_o may_v suffer_v it_o when_o it_o be_v increase_v into_o a_o high_a degree_n desperation_n be_v the_o end_n of_o it_o and_o it_o make_v they_o as_o judas_n do_v to_o lay_v hand_n on_o themselves_o sometime_o again_o it_o be_v not_o so_o increase_v but_o it_o be_v mitigate_v that_o they_o may_v bear_v it_o and_o then_o by_o piece_n &_o piece_n it_o vanish_v and_o so_o soon_o as_o it_o depart_v so_o soon_o depart_v their_o sorrow_n and_o their_o tear_n and_o at_o the_o departure_n of_o their_o pain_n as_o their_o tear_n depart_v so_o return_v they_o to_o the_o puddle_n out_o of_o which_o they_o come_v as_o the_o sow_n do_v and_o to_o the_o same_o vomit_n which_o they_o spew_v out_o as_o the_o dog_n do_v so_o this_o dolour_n and_o torment_n turn_v not_o the_o heart_n it_o alter_v not_o the_o soul_n but_o move_v the_o soul_n for_o the_o present_a &_o that_o by_o reason_n of_o the_o pain_n and_o if_o the_o pain_n be_v away_o they_o will_v return_v to_o the_o same_o sin_n wherein_o they_o offend_v god_n oft_o before_o as_o greedy_o as_o ever_o they_o do_v so_o that_o they_o mourn_v not_o for_o the_o sin_n but_o for_o the_o presence_n of_o the_o pain_n the_o example_n of_o this_o we_o have_v in_o esau_n he_o weep_v bitter_o for_o a_o while_n so_o long_o as_o he_o feel_v any_o dolour_n but_o after_o that_o the_o dolour_n be_v remove_v he_o go_v back_o to_o his_o old_a sin_n again_o and_o what_o do_v he_o he_o address_v himself_o to_o anger_v his_o father_n worse_o than_o ever_o he_o do_v and_o special_o in_o choose_v of_o his_o wife_n which_o testify_v that_o his_o dolour_n be_v but_o for_o a_o worldly_a respect_n so_o i_o say_v this_o worldly_a dolour_n be_v either_o conceive_v for_o the_o present_a pain_n and_o torment_n that_o be_v upon_o the_o conscience_n as_o we_o have_v a_o example_n in_o cain_n for_o in_o his_o repentance_n wherefore_o sorrow_v he_o not_o that_o he_o have_v offend_v god_n not_o that_o he_o have_v displease_v so_o gracious_a a_o father_n but_o for_o the_o greatness_n of_o his_o pain_n and_o cry_v out_o my_o pain_n be_v great_a than_o i_o can_v suffer_v my_o iniquity_n by_o the_o which_o i_o understand_v this_o pain_n either_o my_o pain_n must_v be_v make_v less_o or_o i_o be_o not_o able_a to_o bear_v it_o so_o i_o say_v this_o kind_n of_o sorrow_n be_v either_o conceive_v for_o the_o present_a pain_n or_o for_o a_o worldly_a and_o civil_a respect_n sorrow_n beside_o this_o sorrow_n therefore_o there_o be_v a_o godly_a sorrow_n which_o the_o apostle_n also_o set_v down_o in_o that_o same_o seven_o chapter_n and_o this_o godly_a sorrow_n be_v a_o earnest_a sorrow_n a_o true_a sorrow_n not_o feign_v nor_o counterfeit_a and_o as_o it_o be_v true_a and_o earnest_a so_o it_o be_v conceive_v not_o so_o much_o for_o the_o present_a pain_n &_o torment_n that_o be_v upon_o the_o mind_n and_o conscience_n as_o no_o doubt_n the_o pain_n &_o torment_n that_o be_v upon_o their_o soul_n move_v they_o to_o it_o but_o it_o be_v not_o so_o much_o conceive_v for_o any_o present_a pain_n as_o for_o god_n own_o cause_n that_o they_o have_v offend_v so_o gracious_a a_o god_n who_o be_v so_o love_v so_o merciful_a and_o have_v such_o pity_n and_o compassion_n upon_o the_o multitude_n of_o their_o sin_n and_o therefore_o they_o set_v aside_o all_o creature_n forget_v creature_n although_o against_o they_o also_o they_o have_v offend_v and_o they_o run_v to_o god_n only_o seek_v mercy_n for_o their_o sin_n at_o he_o only_o and_o put_v their_o trust_n in_o he_o only_o so_o you_o see_v david_n psal_n 51._o as_o if_o he_o have_v offend_v none_o in_o the_o world_n but_o god_n only_o he_o turn_v to_o the_o majesty_n of_o the_o live_a god_n and_o say_v against_o thou_o against_o thou_o only_o have_v i_o sin_v and_o do_v evil_a in_o thy_o sight_n now_o there_o be_v no_o doubt_n but_o he_o have_v offend_v against_o the_o man_n who_o he_o slay_v against_o the_o wife_n of_o the_o man_n who_o he_o have_v defile_v yet_o
