supper_n be_v of_o great_a use_n and_o the_o more_o frequent_a the_o practice_n of_o the_o supper_n be_v be_v due_o use_v as_o with_o faith_n reverence_n and_o devotion_n the_o more_o profitable_a after_o time_n of_o many_o worthy_a person_n however_o in_o some_o thing_n mistake_v and_o the_o true_o christian_a life_n and_o conversation_n of_o many_o through_o all_o the_o protestant_a church_n though_o in_o comparison_n of_o the_o great_a multitude_n that_o be_v profane_a and_o scandalous_a they_o be_v but_o a_o few_o may_v be_v a_o good_a ground_n of_o evidence_n that_o god_n be_v true_o among_o they_o and_o do_v own_o the_o remnant_n that_o be_v sincere_a and_o their_o ministry_n to_o who_o a_o allusion_n may_v be_v make_v of_o what_o be_v say_v to_o the_o church_n of_o sardis_n city_n but_o the_o collective_a body_n of_o the_o whole_a that_o by_o the_o harmony_n of_o their_o confession_n already_o extant_a may_v be_v allow_v to_o hold_v the_o fundamental_o of_o the_o christian_a faith_n however_o many_o be_v under_o great_a mistake_n in_o other_o thing_n now_o we_o do_v not_o find_v this_o church_n of_o sardis_n blame_v for_o idolatry_n or_o suffer_v it_o as_o some_o of_o the_o other_o seven_o church_n we_o find_v so_o blame_v and_o particular_o that_o of_o pergamus_n and_o thyatira_n that_o may_v allude_v to_o the_o dark_a and_o idolatrous_a time_n of_o popery_n for_o divers_a age_n forego_v the_o great_a thing_n of_o the_o sardis_n church_n that_o be_v blame_v be_v that_o her_o work_n be_v not_o perfect_a before_o god_n that_o she_o have_v more_o a_o name_n of_o life_n than_o the_o possession_n of_o it_o which_o seem_v to_o paint_v out_o to_o the_o life_n the_o collective_a body_n of_o the_o protestant_a church_n who_o yet_o have_v a_o few_o name_n who_o have_v not_o defile_v their_o garment_n and_o who_o be_v worthy_a which_o few_o name_n be_v not_o confine_v to_o this_o or_o that_o particular_a denomination_n but_o scatter_v and_o disperse_v through_o the_o whole_a as_o so_o many_o grain_n of_o pure_a silver_n or_o gold_n through_o a_o great_a mass_n or_o lump_n of_o oar_n where_o be_v much_o more_o dross_n and_o refuse_n and_o because_o thing_n receive_v their_o denomination_n from_o the_o better_a part_n frequent_o therefore_o i_o judge_v that_o the_o protestant_a church_n be_v with_o a_o respect_n to_o and_o on_o the_o account_n of_o these_o few_o name_n that_o have_v keep_v their_o garment_n clean_o to_o be_v reckon_v a_o true_a church_n and_o be_v so_o repute_v of_o god_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v very_o advisable_v that_o all_o that_o sincere_o believe_v in_o god_n and_o in_o christ_n and_o love_n god_n and_o christ_n and_o agree_v in_o fundamental_o as_o they_o general_o do_v that_o they_o will_v love_v one_o another_o and_o repute_v one_o another_o as_o brethren_n walk_v together_o and_o worship_n god_n together_o in_o spirit_n and_o in_o truth_n the_o strong_a condescend_v to_o the_o weak_a and_o become_v all_o thing_n to_o all_o man_n and_o in_o every_o thing_n that_o be_v not_o manifest_o sinful_a yield_v one_o to_o another_o endeavour_v to_o be_v of_o one_o heart_n and_o soul_n in_o true_a christian_a love_n and_o affection_n however_o differ_v in_o some_o lesser_a matter_n both_o as_o to_o judgement_n and_o practice_n this_o i_o hope_v god_n in_o his_o own_o time_n will_v the_o people_n call_v quaker_n and_o that_o not_o only_o by_o the_o conformity_n of_o their_o doctrine_n and_o conversation_n to_o the_o holy_a scripture_n but_o the_o real_a success_n and_o good_a effect_n of_o their_o ministry_n by_o the_o blessing_n of_o god_n upon_o their_o labour_n and_o if_o the_o noise_n of_o bold_o claim_v to_o themselves_o the_o only_a privilege_n of_o be_v the_o church_n of_o christ_n and_o their_o teacher_n and_o minister_n the_o only_a minister_n of_o christ_n have_v only_o the_o inward_a call_n and_o furnish_v of_o the_o spirit_n be_v lay_v aside_o and_o the_o question_n fair_o and_o calm_o state_v it_o will_v not_o bear_v great_a dispute_n to_o make_v it_o appear_v which_o of_o the_o two_o sort_n have_v the_o best_a mark_n of_o the_o true_a church_n and_o ministry_n will_v the_o quaker_n less_o value_v themselves_o for_o some_o singular_a thing_n which_o at_o best_o be_v but_o as_o the_o cummin_n and_o the_o mint_n and_o some_o of_o they_o not_o so_o much_o they_o may_v easy_o find_v themselves_o equal_v and_o far_o excel_v in_o great_a part_n by_o many_o other_o in_o the_o great_a thing_n of_o true_a divine_a knowledge_n piety_n and_o virtue_n only_o for_o a_o conclusion_n let_v this_o be_v add_v that_o suppose_v present_a administrator_n can_v not_o be_v ready_o find_v so_o qualify_v as_o to_o silence_v all_o the_o scrupulosity_n of_o objector_n this_o will_v not_o prove_v that_o baptism_n and_o the_o supper_n be_v not_o the_o institution_n of_o christ_n as_o it_o will_v not_o prove_v that_o preach_a the_o gospel_n be_v not_o a_o divine_a institution_n because_o in_o many_o part_n of_o the_o world_n true_a preach_v have_v be_v want_v and_o yet_o be_v yea_o according_a to_o the_o quaker_n narrow_a and_o scanty_a charity_n true_a preach_v be_v general_o lose_v in_o the_o world_n until_o the_o quaker_n be_v raise_v up_o about_o the_o year_n 1648._o do_v it_o therefore_o follow_v that_o it_o be_v no_o institution_n of_o christ_n to_o the_o apostle_n and_o their_o successor_n to_o preach_v the_o gospel_n and_o here_o let_v it_o be_v notice_v that_o i_o put_v a_o distinction_n betwixt_o a_o power_n give_v to_o a_o man_n to_o use_v the_o gift_n that_o god_n have_v give_v he_o in_o teach_v other_o less_o know_v and_o a_o pastoral_a gift_n of_o not_o only_o teach_v but_o administer_a these_o divine_a institution_n the_o people_n consent_n he_o be_v set_v to_o be_v their_o pastor_n and_o watchman_n here_o note_v reader_n that_o what_o be_v say_v in_o this_o small_a treatise_n in_o answer_n to_o the_o argument_n of_o the_o principal_a teacher_n of_o the_o quaker_n above_o name_v will_v also_o serve_v for_o a_o answer_n to_o w._n dell_n book_n against_o water-baptism_n for_o there_o be_v nothing_o material_a in_o his_o book_n but_o what_o be_v in_o their_o book_n upon_o that_o subject_a though_o they_o borrow_v his_o argument_n and_o have_v so_o great_a a_o like_n to_o his_o book_n that_o they_o have_v print_v it_o often_o again_o and_o again_o and_o indeed_o as_o they_o borrow_v from_o he_o so_o the_o most_o of_o his_o argument_n he_o seem_v to_o have_v borrow_v from_o socinus_n who_o have_v use_v the_o same_o argument_n for_o the_o most_o part_n long_o before_o w._n dell_n or_o the_o quaker_n appear_v in_o the_o world_n only_o please_v reader_n to_o take_v notice_n of_o that_o great_a piece_n of_o ignorance_n in_o w._n dell_n to_o affirm_v so_o bold_a a_o untruth_n that_o zacharias_n john_n the_o baptist_n father_n be_v high_a priest_n the_o more_o particular_a question_n about_o baptism_n relate_v either_o to_o the_o proper_a subject_n of_o it_o or_o manner_n of_o it_o be_v not_o needful_a to_o be_v handle_v here_o the_o design_n of_o this_o treatise_n be_v to_o convince_v such_o of_o the_o quaker_n as_o be_v willing_a to_o read_v it_o that_o baptism_n and_o the_o supper_n be_v divine_a institution_n till_o they_o own_o this_o it_o will_v be_v preposterous_a to_o persuade_v they_o about_o those_o other_o be_v the_o people_n call_v quaker_n convince_v of_o this_o great_a truth_n that_o the_o outward_a baptism_n by_o water_n and_o the_o supper_n be_v divine_a institution_n and_o aught_o to_o be_v practise_v by_o they_o as_o become_v true_a christian_n there_o be_v some_o thousand_o of_o they_o who_o be_v at_o age_n and_o have_v child_n at_o age_n who_o never_o have_v any_o will_v be_v direct_v and_o guide_v by_o the_o lord_n where_o and_o how_o to_o find_v the_o person_n that_o may_v be_v fit_a to_o administer_v it_o unto_o they_o such_o among_o they_o who_o scruple_n
