why_o they_o shall_v be_v obedient_a they_o be_v as_o new_o bear_v babe_n we_o see_v that_o little_a child_n be_v not_o able_a to_o guide_v themselves_o no_o not_o to_o feed_v themselves_o at_o the_o first_o but_o must_v be_v guide_v and_o nourish_v by_o the_o help_n of_o their_o parent_n until_o they_o be_v able_a to_o shift_v for_o themselves_o so_o must_v the_o child_n of_o god_n be_v guide_v and_o nourish_v by_o the_o word_n of_o god_n that_o they_o may_v grow_v from_o strength_n to_o strength_n from_o faith_n to_o faith_n till_o they_o come_v to_o a_o perfect_a strength_n age_n in_o christ._n therefore_o it_o be_v necessary_a that_o the_o people_n be_v obedient_a unto_o the_o minister_n to_o who_o the_o lord_n have_v give_v his_o word_n to_o distribute_v unto_o his_o child_n and_o to_o increase_v and_o strengthen_v their_o faith_n in_o jesus_n christ._n but_o some_o will_v say_v be_v this_o give_v to_o the_o minister_n only_o what_o if_o they_o teach_v their_o own_o device_n and_o not_o the_o pure_a word_n of_o god_n and_o make_v we_o believe_v we_o be_v in_o a_o happy_a case_n when_o we_o be_v in_o most_o misery_n and_o yet_o desire_v to_o be_v direct_v in_o the_o true_a pathway_n unto_o salvation_n i_o answer_v that_o you_o must_v therefore_o try_v the_o doctrine_n which_o he_o bring_v by_o the_o touchstone_n of_o god_n word_n and_o see_v that_o it_o accord_v therewith_o for_o in_o that_o the_o lord_n give_v the_o understanding_n and_o interpret_n of_o the_o scripture_n unto_o the_o minister_n it_o be_v not_o without_o great_a cause_n that_o he_o do_v it_o when_o as_o he_o appoint_v they_o by_o the_o power_n of_o his_o word_n as_o the_o mean_n without_o which_o they_o can_v do_v nothing_o to_o bring_v together_o his_o child_n yea_o by_o the_o sharp_a sword_n of_o the_o word_n to_o pierce_v their_o soul_n and_o conscience_n to_o the_o utter_a slay_v of_o sin_n and_o with_o the_o excellent_a virtue_n of_o the_o same_o word_n to_o heal_v they_o again_o which_o thing_n if_o the_o minister_n for_o their_o part_n shall_v not_o faithful_o execute_v in_o such_o order_n as_o before_o i_o entreat_v of_o speak_v of_o the_o duty_n of_o minister_n even_o that_o gift_n the_o lord_n will_v so_o straight_o call_v to_o account_v that_o he_o shall_v bear_v the_o danger_n of_o every_o soul_n that_o have_v perish_v through_o his_o default_n yet_o shall_v not_o the_o people_n be_v hereby_o discharge_v for_o they_o must_v try_v his_o doctrine_n as_o i_o say_v before_o and_o take_v heed_n that_o they_o be_v not_o seduce_v for_o if_o they_o be_v they_o shall_v die_v in_o their_o own_o sin_n if_o any_o will_v say_v that_o he_o be_v ignorant_a true_o i_o say_v he_o be_v in_o a_o dangerous_a case_n but_o if_o god_n have_v show_v he_o such_o mercy_n as_o to_o make_v he_o desirous_a to_o be_v instruct_v in_o the_o right_a way_n to_o salvation_n let_v he_o crave_v knowledge_n at_o the_o lord_n hand_n never_o cease_v but_o be_v importunate_a upon_o the_o lord_n in_o crave_v his_o holy_a spirit_n to_o work_v in_o he_o all_o spiritual_a grace_n to_o work_v in_o he_o cease_v true_a faith_n and_o to_o assure_v he_o of_o his_o salvation_n all_o other_o worldly_a respect_n set_v aside_o and_o let_v he_o use_v great_a diligence_n in_o harken_v to_o the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o be_v obedient_a unto_o the_o same_o moreover_o let_v he_o withdraw_v himself_o from_o all_o evil_a company_n and_o frequent_v the_o company_n of_o the_o godly_a and_o no_o doubt_n but_o the_o lord_n will_v strengthen_v he_o to_o work_v his_o will_n whereby_o he_o shall_v know_v of_o the_o doctrine_n whether_o it_o be_v of_o god_n or_o not_o according_a to_o the_o rule_n which_o our_o saviour_n christ_n give_v we_o to_o know_v it_o by_o he_o that_o speak_v of_o himself_o seek_v his_o own_o glory_n but_o he_o that_o seek_v the_o glory_n of_o he_o that_o send_v he_o the_o same_o be_v true_a and_o such_o must_v we_o 18._o obey_v in_o the_o lord_n now_o we_o see_v as_o it_o be_v our_o duty_n to_o obey_v the_o true_a minister_n and_o such_o as_o careful_o watch_v over_o our_o soul_n with_o the_o most_o wholesome_a word_n of_o god_n so_o must_v we_o beware_v that_o we_o suffer_v not_o ourselves_o to_o be_v seduce_v by_o false_a teacher_n and_o therefore_o we_o must_v prove_v their_o doctrine_n by_o the_o word_n of_o god_n but_o last_o of_o all_o if_o any_o shall_v preach_v jesus_n christ_n sincere_o and_o pure_o have_v some_o infirmity_n we_o must_v not_o therefore_o reject_v he_o but_o obey_v he_o for_o the_o truth_n sake_n and_o consider_v that_o we_o be_v all_o subject_n to_o infirmity_n and_o that_o to_o some_o one_o more_o than_o another_o and_o therefore_o it_o be_v our_o duty_n christian_n like_v to_o admonish_v he_o thereof_o and_o no_o doubt_n if_o he_o be_v the_o servant_n of_o god_n he_o will_v give_v he_o more_o strength_n against_o the_o same_o beside_o this_o obedience_n the_o duty_n of_o the_o people_n towards_o their_o minister_n must_v extend_v further_a and_o they_o must_v also_o reverence_v he_o and_o give_v he_o honour_n else_o it_o be_v most_o certain_a that_o obedience_n can_v take_v place_n which_o we_o may_v see_v by_o the_o example_n of_o the_o woman_n of_o samaria_n 4._o who_o notwithstanding_o the_o great_a courtesy_n of_o our_o saviour_n christ_n in_o tell_v she_o what_o he_o be_v and_o what_o he_o can_v do_v for_o she_o yet_o will_v she_o not_o obey_v he_o at_o the_o first_o but_o tell_v to_o taunt_a and_o overthwart_v of_o he_o too_o unreverent_o but_o when_o he_o have_v touch_v her_o conscience_n and_o lay_v open_v her_o wickedness_n so_o that_o she_o see_v plain_o he_o be_v another_o manner_n of_o man_n than_o she_o take_v he_o for_o than_o she_o begin_v to_o reverence_v he_o and_o say_v o_o sir_n i_o see_v that_o thou_o be_v a_o prophet_n and_o then_o she_o obey_v he_o and_o desire_v to_o learn_v of_o he_o so_o before_o she_o obey_v she_o conceive_v a_o reverence_n of_o he_o and_o account_v of_o he_o as_o a_o prophet_n it_o be_v also_o manifest_a in_o the_o 2._o of_o the_o act_n when_o as_o the_o wonderful_a miracle_n can_v not_o bring_v the_o people_n to_o obey_v the_o apostle_n 2._o yet_o afterward_o when_o peter_n with_o his_o sharp_a sermon_n have_v touch_v their_o heart_n in_o such_o sort_n that_o they_o feel_v the_o power_n that_o god_n have_v give_v they_o they_o begin_v to_o reverence_v they_o and_o where_o as_o before_o they_o be_v not_o ashamed_a to_o say_v that_o they_o be_v drunken_a with_o new_a wine_n now_o they_o cry_v out_o man_n and_o brethren_n what_o shall_v we_o do_v which_o word_n do_v plain_o declare_v what_o a_o reverend_a opinion_n they_o have_v conceive_v of_o they_o and_o after_o that_o they_o become_v obedient_a we_o can_v then_o find_v free_a joy_n let_v we_o come_v with_o free_a sorrow_n and_o when_o we_o know_v 27_o not_o how_o to_o pray_v god_n spirit_n will_v teach_v we_o how_o to_o crave_v how_o to_o sigh_v and_o how_o to_o pray_v and_o the_o lord_n will_v know_v the_o meaning_n of_o his_o own_o spirit_n cry_v in_o us._n the_o meaning_n of_o the_o man_n of_o god_n in_o effect_n be_v i_o pour_v out_o my_o prayer_n in_o the_o abundance_n of_o my_o grief_n and_o from_o a_o full_a heart_n we_o see_v when_o a_o man_n want_v a_o thing_n though_o he_o can_v entreat_v his_o friend_n to_o obtain_v it_o of_o he_o yet_o he_o may_v free_o mourn_v and_o lament_v his_o estate_n let_v we_o then_o when_o simile_n we_o can_v pray_v not_o cease_v to_o mourn_v and_o to_o make_v a_o noise_n as_o ezechias_n who_o chatter_v like_o a_o crane_n or_o swallow_n wherein_o he_o show_v that_o he_o be_v so_o press_v with_o sorrow_n that_o he_o can_v do_v nothing_o but_o sigh_n and_o groan_n when_o we_o grow_v therefore_o in_o languish_a grief_n this_o be_v not_o the_o thing_n which_o please_v the_o lord_n but_o it_o nourish_v still_o in_o we_o mistrust_v we_o may_v see_v in_o the_o word_n of_o god_n the_o unperfit_a speech_n of_o god_n child_n and_o dear_a saint_n utter_v in_o their_o grief_n their_o pathetical_a affection_n for_o what_o be_v the_o remedy_n in_o this_o confusion_n but_o even_o to_o pour_v out_o free_o before_o the_o lord_n their_o grief_n and_o in_o open_v they_o to_o their_o friend_n yea_o and_o when_o they_o can_v do_v neither_o of_o both_o yet_o will_v they_o reveal_v their_o sorrow_n to_o the_o tree_n of_o the_o field_n his_o offering_n we_o see_v be_v his_o grief_n the_o lord_n be_v god_n and_o not_o a_o idol_n he_o will_v hear_v sin_n thou_o when_o thou_o cry_v the_o reason_n which_o flesh_n and_o blood_n will_v put_v in_o to_o his_o mind_n for_o first_o when_o he_o see_v that_o he_o be_v in_o such_o straits_n that_o he_o can_v not_o see_v mean_n or_o way_n to_o be_v deliver_v than_o his_o reason_n will_v persuade_v he_o to_o leave_v the_o light_n of_o the_o word_n as_o a_o thing_n that_o in_o this_o case_n show_v no_o light_n and_o to_o use_v policy_n for_o to_o help_v himself_o this_o be_v a_o great_a temptation_n and_o if_o god_n have_v not_o assist_v he_o he_o may_v have_v fall_v hereby_o for_o we_o see_v that_o saul_n when_o the_o lord_n give_v he_o no_o answer_n by_o urim_n and_o thummim_n nor_o other_o ordinary_a mean_n he_o think_v good_a in_o policy_n to_o ask_v counsel_n of_o a_o witch_n which_o he_o before_o time_n have_v punish_v with_o death_n thus_o will_v corrupt_v judgement_n have_v carry_v he_o to_o use_v policy_n and_o unlawful_a mean_n and_o to_o have_v forsake_v the_o lantern_n of_o the_o word_n if_o the_o lord_n have_v not_o stay_v he_o and_o therefore_o this_o be_v one_o cause_n to_o move_v he_o most_o earnest_o to_o pray_v second_o if_o he_o look_v to_o his_o affection_n he_o shall_v find_v they_o as_o corrupt_v for_o they_o will_v have_v carry_v he_o to_o revenge_v when_o he_o see_v himself_o to_o be_v unreasonable_o and_o unconscionable_o deal_v withal_o and_o therefore_o to_o restrain_v the_o headstrong_a affection_n of_o revenge_n it_o be_v very_o needful_a
humble_a they_o fear_v themselves_o they_o seek_v the_o lord_n by_o prayer_n and_o be_v desirous_a to_o be_v establish_v in_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n they_o be_v as_o strong_a as_o mount_n zion_n which_o can_v be_v remove_v but_o remain_v for_o ever_o psalm_n 125.1_o though_o then_o we_o be_v weak_a yet_o our_o christ_n be_v strong_a though_o we_o have_v many_o enemy_n yet_o the_o lord_n have_v promise_v to_o be_v our_o stay_n against_o they_o all_o let_v we_o know_v perseverance_n that_o perseverance_n be_v as_o well_o the_o gift_n of_o god_n as_o to_o come_v at_o first_o to_o god_n and_o willing_o draw_v near_o unto_o god_n be_v his_o only_a gift_n also_o well_o we_o must_v be_v afraid_a of_o ourselves_o and_o suspect_v ourselves_o for_o why_o do_v we_o slip_v often_o into_o such_o gross_a sin_n why_o be_v we_o carry_v away_o with_o our_o own_o affection_n why_o do_v so_o many_o good_a motion_n die_v and_o perish_v in_o we_o but_o only_o because_o of_o our_o security_n we_o be_v not_o careful_a to_o please_v god_n we_o be_v not_o afraid_a to_o offend_v god_n well_o if_o we_o see_v that_o security_n have_v be_v the_o cause_n of_o our_o woe_n let_v we_o labour_n to_o be_v careful_a which_o be_v the_o cause_n of_o our_o good_a if_o security_n have_v be_v the_o cause_n we_o fear_v not_o let_v we_o now_o be_v careful_a that_o we_o may_v be_v afraid_a of_o our_o frailty_n and_o trust_v in_o god_n word_n otherwise_o if_o we_o be_v quiet_a with_o ourselves_o and_o yield_v to_o presumption_n god_n will_v suffer_v we_o to_o fall_v this_o be_v the_o cause_n why_o our_o sin_n break_v out_o often_o to_o god_n dishonour_n and_o to_o the_o grief_n of_o our_o own_o conscience_n because_o we_o do_v not_o more_o careful_o to_o look_v our_o thought_n and_o watch_v over_o our_o word_n it_o be_v add_v in_o this_o verse_n that_o i_o may_v live_v so_o he_o say_v portion_n 10.4_o let_v thy_o tender_a mercy_n come_v unto_o i_o that_o i_o may_v live_v we_o see_v
