in_o the_o primitive_a gospel-time_n be_v from_o the_o special_a gift_n of_o the_o spirit_n 2._o though_o say_v you_o the_o matter_n of_o precomposed_a form_n of_o sing_v be_v spiritual_a yet_o the_o heart_n must_v be_v spiritual_a too_o or_o grace_n and_o melody_n must_v be_v in_o exercise_n in_o perform_v of_o they_o the_o grace_n of_o joy_n must_v be_v raise_v in_o the_o soul_n to_o the_o height_n of_o melody_n and_o so_o break_v forth_o or_o to_o that_o purpose_n you_o speak_v pag._n 44_o 45._o answ_n 1._o we_o need_v no_o more_o the_o special_a gift_n in_o sing_v to_o render_v our_o sing_v spiritual_a than_o those_o special_a gift_n in_o preach_v to_o render_v our_o sermon_n spiritual_a 2._o as_o to_o have_v grace_n in_o our_o heart_n not_o only_o in_o the_o habit_n but_o also_o in_o the_o exercise_n in_o sing_v we_o acknowledge_v it_o be_v necessary_a to_o a_o right_a performance_n of_o it_o and_o so_o it_o be_v in_o prayer_n preach_v and_o all_o other_o spiritual_a duty_n of_o religion_n and_o let_v i_o tell_v you_o we_o need_v no_o great_a assistance_n of_o the_o spirit_n in_o sing_v than_o in_o pray_v or_o rejoice_v therefore_o what_o signify_v that_o which_o you_o say_v pag._n 45._o viz._n the_o least_o exercise_n of_o true_a grace_n in_o our_o heart_n in_o prayer_n give_v essence_n or_o be_v to_o prayer_n so_o the_o least_o exercise_n of_o gracious_a melodious_a joy_n give_v essence_n to_o inward_a sing_v and_o say_v you_o as_o we_o ought_v not_o vocal_o to_o pray_v in_o the_o public_a worship_n of_o god_n in_o the_o church_n without_o a_o sufficient_a gift_n of_o the_o spirit_n so_o also_o we_o ought_v not_o vocal_o to_o sing_v in_o the_o church_n unless_o it_o be_v by_o a_o sufficient_a gift_n of_o the_o spirit_n and_o see_v we_o have_v not_o such_o a_o gift_n we_o be_v not_o capable_a of_o vocal_a spiritual_a sing_v and_o so_o we_o must_v be_v content_v as_o you_o intimate_v in_o pag._n 46._o with_o the_o essence_n of_o it_o in_o our_o spirit_n only_o answ_n by_o this_o way_n of_o argue_v you_o may_v lay_v godly_a christian_n under_o temptation_n about_o prayer_n especial_o in_o the_o church_n because_o they_o may_v plead_v they_o have_v not_o the_o gift_n whereas_o the_o grace_n of_o prayer_n viz._n a_o break_a heart_n be_v that_o which_o god_n chief_o look_v at_o and_o so_o shall_v we_o too_o this_o make_v no_o if_o we_o must_v be_v satisfy_v with_o your_o essence_n of_o sing_v viz._n inward_a joy_n in_o the_o heart_n till_o we_o come_v to_o the_o primitive_a perfection_n of_o divine_a worship_n etc._n
