and_o country_n and_o he_o add_v that_o they_o hold_v they_o peaceable_o with_o out_o any_o pass_n of_o stranger_n through_o they_o that_o be_v to_o say_v without_o any_o man_n usurp_a of_o that_o which_o god_n have_v put_v into_o their_o hand_n very_o whensoever_o god_n endue_v man_n with_o excellent_a gift_n we_o must_v not_o despise_v the_o same_o but_o consider_v that_o the_o spirit_n of_o and_o not_o to_o be_v stubborneharted_a and_o hard_a to_o yield_v obedience_n when_o we_o know_v that_o the_o thing_n which_o be_v tell_v we_o be_v true_a and_o so_o you_o see_v how_o the_o authority_n of_o man_n ought_v to_o be_v receive_v but_o if_o they_o fall_v to_o turn_v of_o the_o truth_n upside_o down_o and_o to_o convert_n of_o it_o into_o falsehood_n there_o be_v no_o reason_n why_o man_n shall_v be_v wend_v unto_o they_o therefore_o we_o must_v bear_v this_o point_n well_o in_o remembrance_n for_o we_o see_v there_o be_v two_o ungracious_a extremity_n the_o one_o be_v foreconceived_a opinion_n that_o a_o man_n be_v skilful_a of_o great_a wit_n and_o well_o experience_v we_o be_v so_o sot_v therewith_o as_o we_o look_v no_o whit_n further_o but_o we_o must_v not_o suffer_v ourselves_o to_o be_v lead_v so_o for_o god_n do_v always_o reserve_v his_o own_o right_n to_o himself_o and_o what_o be_v that_o very_o that_o we_o shall_v be_v subject_a to_o he_o alone_o whereunto_o we_o ourselves_o be_v enter_v already_o he_o that_o know_v god_n truth_n must_v not_o keep_v it_o close_o to_o himself_o as_o though_o it_o be_v but_o for_o he_o alone_o what_o then_o he_o be_v bind_v to_o his_o neighbour_n and_o therefore_o if_o he_o see_v they_o go_v astray_o let_v he_o reach_v they_o his_o hand_n let_v he_o call_v they_o to_o he_o and_o let_v he_o show_v they_o to_o we_o as_o to_o teach_v we_o his_o truth_n it_o be_v not_o too_o the_o end_n that_o every_o man_n shall_v keep_v it_o to_o himself_o and_o other_o man_n have_v no_o part_n nor_o portion_n of_o it_o but_o we_o must_v as_o much_o as_o in_o we_o lie_v draw_v all_o the_o world_n to_o it_o now_o then_o see_v we_o be_v bind_v to_o all_o man_n in_o general_a yea_o even_o unto_o those_o of_o who_o that_o they_o can_v have_v no_o understanding_n thou_o will_v not_o exalt_v they_o here_o job_n strengthen_v himself_o against_o those_o that_o vex_v he_o under_o the_o colour_n of_o comfort_v he_o but_o we_o have_v to_o remember_v what_o have_v be_v say_v namely_o that_o job_n bewray_v all_o his_o affection_n and_o so_o it_o be_v no_o wonder_n though_o he_o continue_v not_o all_o in_o one_o tale_n but_o shift_v eft_o into_o one_o matter_n and_o eft_o into_o another_o and_o so_o show_v himself_o variable_a and_o wherefore_o be_v that_o because_o he_o speak_v as_o in_o his_o combat_n we_o know_v that_o when_o a_o man_n be_v fight_v of_o a_o combat_n he_o keep_v not_o always_o one_o countenance_n but_o be_v fain_o to_o traverse_v his_o ground_n to_o fetch_v a_o compass_n about_o to_o shift_v hand_n to_o retire_v and_o to_o advance_v forward_a after_o as_o his_o enemy_n press_v upon_o he_o or_o as_o he_o himself_o espy_v his_o own_o advantage_n even_o so_o be_v it_o with_o we_o when_o we_o fall_v to_o resist_v of_o our_o temptation_n sometime_o we_o stoop_v to_o save_v ourselves_o and_o sometime_o we_o give_v back_o too_o avoid_v a_o blow_n after_o as_o god_n give_v we_o respite_n so_o take_v we_o heart_n again_o and_o be_v relieve_v when_o it_o be_v likely_a we_o shall_v have_v be_v overthrow_v the_o thing_n therefore_o that_o we_o see_v here_o in_o job_n be_v that_o now_o he_o take_v courage_n and_o say_v lord_n it_o be_v true_a that_o it_o be_v a_o corzie_z to_o i_o to_o see_v my_o friend_n become_v dalyer_n and_o to_o do_v nothing_o else_o but_o vex_v i_o but_o yet_o must_v i_o not_o discomfort_v myself_o for_o all_o that_o and_o why_o for_o i_o see_v well_o they_o have_v none_o understanding_n and_o therefore_o i_o must_v not_o take_v hold_n of_o they_o see_v there_o be_v no_o reason_n in_o they_o if_o a_o beast_n come_v run_v upon_o i_o or_o if_o a_o dog_n hold_v i_o at_o a_o bay_n i_o may_v well_o use_v fair_a word_n to_o appease_v they_o but_o it_o can_v not_o prevail_v for_o they_o understand_v they_o not_o so_o then_o o_o lord_n i_o must_v not_o take_v it_o too_o heart_n when_o i_o hear_v the_o wander_a talk_n of_o these_o man_n here_o why_o so_o because_o thou_o have_v cover_v their_o heart_n that_o they_o can_v have_v no_o understanding_n and_o this_o be_v it_o that_o i_o have_v touch_v already_o namely_o that_o if_o we_o will_v comfort_v wretched_a folk_n in_o their_o affliction_n we_o must_v desire_v god_n too_o give_v we_o his_o spirit_n and_o wisdom_n to_o do_v it_o withal_o for_o our_o talk_n shall_v be_v vain_a and_o unprofitable_a save_v so_o far_o forth_o as_o he_o reach_v we_o his_o hand_n like_v as_o on_o the_o contrary_a part_n we_o shall_v speak_v to_o edify_v if_o he_o guide_v we_o it_o be_v say_v that_o he_o cover_v their_o heart_n that_o they_o may_v have_v none_o understanding_n as_o if_o a_o man_n shall_v say_v he_o blyndfold_v their_o eye_n for_o in_o the_o scripture_n this_o word_n heart_n be_v sometime_o take_v for_o the_o mind_n in_o deed_n it_o be_v not_o take_v so_o continual_o for_o it_o be_v sometime_o take_v for_o a_o trueness_n and_o for_o a_o pure_a conscience_n but_o whereas_o it_o be_v say_v by_o moses_n god_n have_v not_o give_v you_o a_o heart_n to_o understand_v no_o not_o even_o unto_o this_o day_n we_o see_v that_o the_o word_n heart_n be_v take_v there_o for_o the_o talk_n that_o they_o be_v excellent_a man_n and_o no_o fool_n for_o we_o see_v they_o be_v man_n of_o experience_n and_o man_n of_o great_a wit_n yea_o and_o it_o be_v say_v that_o god_n have_v send_v they_o and_o how_o then_o shall_v they_o do_v that_o scarce_o have_v one_o jot_n of_o wisdom_n what_o shall_v become_v of_o they_o when_o it_o please_v god_n to_o blind_v they_o again_o if_o god_n do_v so_o blind_a the_o wise_a let_v those_o that_o think_v themselves_o skilful_a and_o trust_v to_o their_o own_o sharp_a wit_n and_o presume_v much_o upon_o their_o own_o policy_n learn_v to_o humble_v themselves_o know_v that_o god_n can_v so_o blind_a their_o eye_n as_o they_o shall_v not_o see_v a_o whit_n at_o high_a noonday_n thus_o see_v yea_o profitable_a lesson_n for_o such_o as_o take_v pride_n in_o their_o own_o wisdom_n and_o think_v that_o nothing_o ought_v to_o pass_v but_o by_o their_o advice_n what_o shall_v become_v of_o they_o when_o god_n shall_v have_v blind_v they_o thus_o the_o blind_a wretch_n have_v their_o eye_n seel_a up_o that_o they_o can_v discern_v nothing_o and_o what_o shall_v the_o end_n of_o they_o be_v god_n will_v not_o exalt_v they_o that_o be_v to_o say_v he_o will_v put_v they_o too_o shame_v in_o the_o end_n now_o if_o this_o be_v verify_v of_o worldly_a thing_n what_o be_v to_o be_v say_v of_o the_o secret_n of_o the_o heavenly_a kingdom_n which_o do_v far_o surmount_v all_o the_o wit_n of_o man_n behold_v god_n blind_v the_o eye_n of_o the_o wise_a even_o in_o worldly_a affair_n and_o in_o the_o thing_n that_o concern_v this_o present_a life_n insomuch_o that_o even_o those_o that_o be_v most_o crafty_a &_o of_o great_a wit_n become_v like_o little_a babe_n and_o do_v fond_a deed_n and_o be_v ready_a to_o fall_v down_o at_o every_o blow_n man_n see_v this_o and_o what_o be_v the_o cause_n it_o be_v for_o that_o god_n have_v cover_v their_o eyesight_n and_o how_o shall_v we_o then_o do_v when_o we_o must_v be_v fain_o to_o mount_v up_o high_o to_o the_o wonderful_a secret_n which_o can_v be_v know_v unless_o god_n have_v enlighten_v we_o by_o his_o holy_a spirit_n hereby_o we_o be_v warn_v not_o to_o take_v offence_n when_o we_o see_v the_o wise_a man_n of_o the_o world_n have_v no_o taste_n of_o the_o gospel_n nor_o of_o any_o point_n of_o the_o doctrine_n of_o salvation_n and_o why_o it_o be_v not_o a_o dish_n whereof_o every_o man_n may_v be_v his_o own_o carver_n god_n must_v be_v fain_o too_o work_v there_o by_o his_o holy_a spirit_n and_o that_o be_v a_o thing_n well_o worthy_a too_o be_v note_v for_o we_o see_v many_o wretched_a weakling_n at_o this_o day_n which_o rest_n themselves_o upon_o this_o that_o the_o wise_a man_n of_o the_o world_n can_v frame_v themselves_o to_o the_o gospel_n how_o be_v it_o say_v they_o that_o such_o a_o man_n be_v a_o man_n of_o so_o great_a reputation_n savour_v not_o of_o the_o gospel_n yea_o and_o there_o need_v no_o allege_v of_o some_o one_o man_n but_o of_o whole_a nation_n for_o man_n will_v say_v what_o in_o such_o a_o nation_n where_o there_o be_v so_o many_o wise_a head_n we_o see_v the_o gospel_n be_v not_o receive_v as_o who_o shall_v say_v that_o the_o receive_n of_o the_o gospel_n come_v of_o our_o own_o towardness_n &_o that_o we_o by_o our_o own_o motherwit_n be_v able_a to_o comprehend_v what_o soever_o god_n show_v we_o in_o the_o holy_a scripture_n no._n but_o clean_o contrariwise_o it_o be_v say_v that_o we_o be_v blind_v in_o that_o behalf_n and_o that_o all_o the_o wisdom_n of_o god_n be_v foolishness_n to_o man_n reason_n see_v then_o that_o the_o case_n stand_v so_o let_v we_o not_o think_v it_o strange_a though_o such_o as_o presume_v to_o know_v themselves_o be_v blind_v after_o that_o sort_n and_o why_o for_o god_n forsake_v they_o by_o reason_n of_o their_o pride_n and_o further_o he_o be_v no_o schoolmaster_n but_o for_o the_o humble_a and_o little_a one_o but_o these_o man_n will_v be_v great_a one_o and_o be_v they_o then_o able_a too_o take_v any_o profit_n at_o all_o in_o god_n school_n no._n so_o then_o see_v we_o perceive_v that_o god_n blind_v man_n after_o that_o sort_n let_v we_o for_o our_o part_n learn_v not_o too_o trust_v in_o ourselves_o but_o to_o desire_v he_o to_o guide_v we_o by_o his_o holy_a ghost_n and_o so_o to_o govern_v we_o as_o we_o may_v see_v clear_o in_o the_o mid_n of_o the_o darkness_n of_o this_o world_n
all_o those_o mischief_n must_v spring_v of_o the_o rage_n wherewith_o they_o be_v move_v think_v they_o that_o the_o sword_n be_v not_o ready_a for_o they_o again_o as_o touch_v those_o that_o serve_v their_o lust_n and_o feed_v their_o humour_n think_v they_o that_o god_n ought_v not_o to_o draw_v out_o his_o sword_n upon_o they_o to_o but_o let_v we_o not_o look_v upon_o they_o only_o for_o we_o see_v those_o that_o be_v neither_o king_n nor_o prince_n nor_o of_o ability_n to_o make_v havoc_n of_o country_n or_o to_o enter_v upon_o they_o with_o force_n which_o not_o withstand_v and_o obey_v they_o shall_v spend_v their_o day_n in_o weal_n and_o their_o year_n in_o glory_n but_o if_o they_o berken_v not_o too_o he_o they_o shall_v pass_v by_o the_o sword_n and_o die_v without_o knowledge_n here_o eliu_n show_v we_o yet_o better_a the_o profit_n that_o we_o have_v by_o be_v in_o adversity_n it_o be_v undoubted_o a_o great_a benefit_n and_o which_o can_v be_v sufficient_o value_v when_o we_o be_v draw_v to_o repentance_n and_o that_o whereas_o we_o be_v in_o the_o high_a way_n to_o damnation_n our_o lord_n bring_v we_o back_o to_o himself_o i_o say_v it_o be_v a_o thing_n that_o ought_v to_o assuage_v all_o the_o sorrow_n of_o our_o affliction_n howbeit_o there_o be_v yet_o much_o more_o in_o it_o namely_o that_o our_o lord_n show_v we_o by_o proof_n how_o profitable_a the_o same_o be_v for_o we_o to_o the_o end_n we_o may_v be_v deliver_v from_o our_o adversity_n and_o succour_v by_o he_o and_o he_o show_v himself_o favourable_a to_o we_o by_o that_o mean_n see_v then_o that_o all_o this_o be_v find_v by_o experience_n have_v we_o not_o cause_v too_o be_v glad_a when_o god_n deliver_v we_o after_o that_o sort_n for_o if_o he_o shall_v suffer_v we_o to_o be_v sot_v in_o the_o pleasure_n of_o his_o world_n in_o the_o end_n we_o will_v grow_v past_a grace_n and_o therefore_o he_o be_v fain_o to_o remedy_v it_o in_o due_a season_n and_o if_o he_o do_v it_o by_o afflict_v we_o and_o thereupon_o deliver_v we_o to_o the_o intent_n we_o shall_v perceive_v his_o hand_n be_v it_o not_o a_o singular_a proof_n of_o his_o favour_n and_o of_o our_o faith_n if_o god_n shall_v suffer_v we_o to_o welter_v in_o our_o own_o filthiness_n and_o to_o settle_v in_o our_o own_o lees_n as_o the_o prophet_n term_v it_o we_o will_v rot_v away_o as_o i_o have_v say_v afore_o and_o beside_o that_o we_o will_v not_o esteem_v his_o grace_n towards_o we_o to_o he_o such_o as_o he_o show_v it_o by_o take_v we_o out_o of_o the_o adversity_n whereunto_o we_o be_v fall_v lo_o here_o a_o double_a benefit_n that_o redound_v unto_o man_n by_o god_n correct_v they_o after_o that_o manner_n for_o first_o and_o forme_v they_o be_v bring_v back_o unto_o he_o and_o second_o they_o perceive_v his_o fatherly_a goodness_n when_o they_o be_v deliver_v by_o this_o grace_n thus_o yeâ—_z see_v what_o we_o have_v to_o mark_v in_o this_o strain_v now_o a_o man_n may_v demand_v yea_o be_v it_o so_o be_v we_o sure_o that_o god_n intent_n be_v to_o draw_v we_o to_o repentance_n when_o he_o scourge_v we_o himself_o or_o when_o he_o suffer_v we_o to_o be_v trouble_v by_o man_n what_o can_v we_o tell_v whither_o his_o purpose_n and_o will_v be_v such_o or_o no_o hereunto_o we_o answer_v in_o asmuch_o as_o we_o see_v that_o affliction_n last_v but_o for_o a_o time_n and_o god_n deliver_v we_o from_o they_o let_v we_o understand_v thereby_o that_o he_o mind_v not_o to_o undo_v we_o utter_o but_o be_v content_v that_o we_o be_v beat_v down_o and_o humble_v under_o his_o hand_n but_o if_o our_o neck_n be_v of_o brass_n to_o withstand_v he_o so_o as_o we_o will_v not_o bow_v for_o the_o correction_n that_o he_o send_v we_o we_o do_v nothing_o else_o but_o continual_o double_v his_o stroke_n then_o on_o the_o contrary_a part_n if_o we_o feel_v our_o sin_n so_o as_o we_o crave_v forgiveness_n of_o they_o and_o he_o perceive_v we_o to_o be_v right_o touch_v then_o make_v he_o our_o adversity_n to_o turn_v to_o a_o wholesome_a medicine_n too_o we_o and_o thereupon_o he_o deliver_v we_o from_o they_o we_o see_v all_o this_o i_o say_v even_o with_o our_o eye_n so_o then_o let_v we_o not_o grudge_v any_o more_o when_o we_o see_v god_n send_v such_o trouble_n into_o the_o world_n neither_o let_v we_o be_v offend_v at_o it_o as_o though_o he_o have_v his_o eye_n shut_v for_o he_o know_v well_o enough_o what_o he_o do_v &_o he_o have_v a_o infinite_a wisdom_n which_o appear_v not_o to_o we_o at_o the_o first_o dash_n and_o in_o the_o end_n we_o shall_v see_v that_o he_o have_v dispose_v thing_n in_o good_a order_n and_o measure_n also_o let_v we_o learn_v herewithal_o not_o to_o be_v to_o much_o grieve_v when_o we_o be_v afflict_v after_o that_o manner_n assure_v ourselves_o that_o god_n do_v by_o that_o mean_n further_o our_o salvation_n again_o will_v we_o be_v heal_v when_o we_o be_v so_o in_o trouble_n and_o pain_n will_v we_o have_v a_o good_a and_o desirable_a end_n of_o they_o then_o let_v we_o follow_v the_o way_n that_o be_v show_v we_o here_o namely_o to_o hear_v and_o obey_v how_o to_o hear_v by_o be_v teach_v when_o god_n hold_v we_o as_o it_o be_v in_o his_o school_n so_o as_o our_o affliction_n may_v be_v as_o many_o instruction_n to_o resort_v unto_o he_o then_o let_v we_o hear_v these_o thing_n and_o let_v not_o that_o slip_n out_o of_o the_o one_o ear_n which_o enter_v in_o at_o the_o other_o but_o let_v we_o obey_v that_o be_v to_o say_v let_v we_o yield_v god_n such_o obedience_n as_o we_o ought_v to_o

wage_n in_o popery_n nothing_o be_v more_o common_a than_o to_o say_v that_o man_n can_v purchase_v heaven_n and_o how_o by_o their_o meritorious_a work_n as_o they_o term_v they_o and_o although_o the_o papist_n be_v force_v to_o confess_v that_o we_o can_v do_v nothing_o without_o god_n grace_n and_o that_o we_o have_v always_o some_o imperfection_n in_o we_o yet_o do_v they_o mingle_v their_o own_o work_n with_o god_n grace_n a_o man_n say_v they_o must_v prepare_v himself_o to_o receive_v god_n grace_n not_o of_o worthiness_n they_o be_v force_v to_o grant_v our_o own_o unworthiness_n prattle_n and_o prate_v but_o in_o the_o end_n he_o will_v put_v we_o to_o silence_n well_o enough_o whyso_n for_o what_o title_n can_v we_o pretend_v against_o he_o then_o let_v we_o forbear_v to_o be_v selfwyse_o and_o learn_v to_o be_v sober_a and_o low_o and_o let_v we_o acquaint_v our_o self_n with_o god_n work_v so_o far_o forth_o as_o he_o show_v they_o to_o we_o always_o restrain_v ourselves_o with_o this_o bridle_n that_o we_o pass_v no_o further_o than_o be_v show_v we_o in_o the_o holy_a scripture_n if_o we_o do_v so_o we_o shall_v be_v guide_v always_o by_o the_o holy_a ghost_n let_v we_o then_o keep_v ourselves_o from_o say_v oh_o i_o will_v fain_o know_v such_o a_o thing_n let_v we_o not_o be_v selfwise_o in_o seek_v whatsoever_o we_o have_v a_o mind_n unto_o employ_v all_o their_o force_n and_o power_n to_o do_v evil_a until_o god_n have_v reform_v they_o so_o then_o if_o we_o know_v and_o put_v it_o ure_n that_o we_o must_v not_o pretend_v to_o have_v any_o worthiness_n or_o deserve_v in_o ourselves_o but_o yield_v god_n the_o honour_n to_o grant_v he_o to_o be_v almighty_a then_o be_v we_o thorough_o humble_v in_o all_o respect_n this_o in_o effect_n be_v the_o thing_n that_o we_o have_v to_o bear_v away_o in_o this_o text_n now_o too_o knit_v up_o the_o matter_n although_o it_o be_v not_o needful_a no_o nor_o expedient_a too_o stand_v
