be_v the_o plague_n and_o other_o judgement_n simile_n but_o so_o many_o messenger_n send_v to_o every_o one_o of_o we_o to_o knock_v and_o our_o answer_n must_v be_v lord_n i_o will_v repent_v of_o my_o evil_a way_n i_o will_v turn_v from_o my_o evil_a course_n and_o turn_v to_o thou_o if_o we_o give_v this_o answer_n god_n will_v take_v away_o his_o judgement_n or_o sanctify_v they_o and_o that_o be_v better_o but_o when_o there_o be_v no_o answer_n the_o messenger_n will_v not_o be_v go_v god_n will_v add_v plague_n upon_o plague_n till_o we_o give_v our_o answer_n till_o we_o repent_v and_o turn_v from_o our_o wicked_a way_n now_o that_o we_o may_v do_v this_o repentance_n we_o must_v be_v convince_v thorough_o that_o the_o course_n we_o live_v in_o be_v unprofitable_a dangerous_a hateful_a course_n and_o that_o the_o contrary_a state_n be_v better_a for_o repentance_n be_v a_o afterwit_n and_o man_n be_v a_o reasonable_a creature_n will_v turn_v from_o his_o way_n except_o he_o see_v great_a reason_n why_o therefore_o there_o must_v be_v sound_a conviction_n that_o it_o be_v a_o bitter_a thing_n to_o offend_v god_n 2.19_o we_o must_v indeed_o be_v convince_v by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n and_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n usual_o take_v the_o benefit_n of_o affliction_n affliction_n together_o with_o instruction_n instruction_n without_o affliction_n will_v do_v death_n and_o judgement_n and_o god_n presence_n that_o sin_n grieve_v the_o good_a spirit_n of_o god_n that_o will_v take_v up_o his_o lodging_n in_o we_o that_o it_o quench_v the_o motion_n of_o the_o spirit_n that_o be_v send_v as_o sweet_a messenger_n to_o we_o to_o allure_v and_o comfort_v we_o that_o sin_n grieve_v the_o good_a spirit_n of_o god_n in_o other_o that_o it_o grieve_v the_o good_a angel_n that_o be_v about_o we_o that_o it_o gratify_v none_o but_o the_o devil_n the_o enemy_n of_o our_o salvation_n that_o it_o defile_v and_o slaine_v our_o soul_n wherein_o the_o image_n of_o god_n shall_v shine_v that_o it_o do_v we_o more_o harm_n than_o all_o the_o thing_n in_o the_o world_n beside_o indeed_o nothing_o hurt_v we_o but_o sin_n because_o nothing_o but_o sin_n course_n rip_v up_o our_o life_n from_o our_o childhood_n consider_v the_o sin_n of_o our_o youth_n together_o with_o our_o present_a sin_n that_o so_o we_o may_v the_o better_o stir_v up_o and_o awaken_v our_o conscience_n let_v we_o consider_v whether_o we_o be_v now_o in_o a_o state_n wherein_o we_o can_v be_v content_a that_o god_n shall_v send_v his_o judgement_n upon_o we_o consider_v how_o we_o have_v be_v scandalous_a to_o other_o how_o we_o have_v draw_v other_o to_o sin_n that_o the_o guilt_n of_o other_o man_n sin_n will_v lie_v upon_o we_o it_o may_v be_v we_o have_v repent_v but_o have_v they_o consider_v the_o repetition_n of_o our_o sin_n if_o we_o have_v not_o commit_v they_o again_o and_o again_o and_o other_o circumstance_n that_o may_v aggravate_v they_o let_v we_o labour_n to_o work_v these_o thing_n on_o our_o heart_n and_o desire_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n to_o convince_v our_o soul_n of_o the_o foulness_n and_o dangerousnesse_n of_o sin_n when_o we_o sin_n against_o conscience_n what_o do_v we_o but_o set_v the_o devil_n in_o the_o place_n of_o god_n we_o make_v ourselves_o wise_a than_o god_n we_o leave_v god_n way_n as_o if_o we_o can_v find_v better_o and_o more_o profitable_a and_o more_o gainful_a course_n than_o he_o sound_a conviction_n of_o this_o will_v move_v we_o to_o repentance_n and_o let_v we_o be_v stir_v up_o to_o repent_v according_a to_o his_o good_a pleasure_n therefore_o take_v the_o advantage_n of_o the_o present_a motion_n of_o the_o bless_a spirit_n defer_v the_o long_o we_o live_v in_o any_o sin_n unrepented_a off_o the_o more_o our_o heart_n will_v be_v harden_v the_o more_o satan_n take_v advantage_n against_o we_o the_o more_o hardly_o he_o be_v drive_v out_o of_o his_o old_a possession_n the_o more_o just_a it_o may_v be_v with_o god_n to_o give_v we_o up_o from_o one_o sin_n to_o another_o the_o understanding_n will_v be_v more_o dark_a upon_o every_o repetition_n of_o sin_n and_o conscience_n will_v be_v more_o dull_v and_o deaden_v those_o that_o be_v young_a therefore_o let_v they_o take_v the_o advantage_n of_o the_o youth_n and_o strength_n and_o freshness_n of_o their_o year_n to_o serve_v god_n that_o which_o be_v blast_v in_o the_o bud_n what_o fruit_n may_v we_o look_v for_o from_o it_o afterward_o alas_o when_o we_o see_v the_o young_a sort_n give_v to_o blaspheme_v and_o swear_v to_o looseness_n and_o licentiousness_n what_o old_a age_n may_v we_o look_v for_o there_o again_o what_o welcome_a shall_v we_o expect_v when_o we_o have_v sacrifice_v the_o best_a of_o our_o strength_n and_o the_o marrow_n of_o our_o year_n to_o our_o lust_n to_o bring_v our_o old-age_n to_o god_n true_a can_v this_o be_v any_o other_o then_o self-love_n such_o late_a repentance_n be_v seldom_o sound_a it_o
come_v i_o say_v from_o self-love_n and_o not_o from_o any_o change_n of_o heart_n as_o in_o the_o the_o humility_n of_o wretched_a person_n a_o little_a before_o the_o judge_n come_v though_o they_o have_v carry_v themselves_o as_o rebel_n before_o yet_o than_o they_o will_v humble_v themselves_o not_o out_o of_o any_o hatred_n to_o their_o course_n but_o out_o of_o fear_n of_o the_o judge_n so_o it_o may_v be_v now_o thou_o be_v arraign_v by_o god_n judgement_n thou_o forsake_v thy_o sinful_a course_n not_o out_o of_o the_o hatred_n of_o thy_o sin_n for_o if_o thou_o can_v thou_o will_v sin_v eternal_o and_o that_o be_v the_o reason_n sinner_n be_v punish_v eternal_o because_o they_o will_v sin_v everlasting_o but_o thou_o see_v thou_o be_v in_o danger_n to_o be_v pull_v away_o by_o god_n judgement_n it_o be_v not_o out_o of_o love_n to_o grace_n it_o be_v not_o from_o any_o change_n of_o nature_n that_o thou_o desire_v to_o be_v a_o new_a creature_n that_o thou_o admire_v grace_n to_o be_v the_o best_a state_n but_o it_o be_v to_o avoid_v danger_n not_o that_o thou_o care_v for_o the_o face_n of_o god_n to_o be_v reconcile_v to_o he_o but_o to_o avoid_v the_o present_a judgement_n and_o what_o a_o stagger_a will_v this_o be_v to_o conscience_n when_o a_o man_n shall_v defer_v his_o repentance_n till_o god_n judgement_n seize_v upon_o he_o we_o see_v it_o be_v false_a for_o the_o most_o part_n because_o such_o person_n that_o be_v then_o humble_v when_o they_o recover_v they_o be_v as_o bad_a or_o worse_a then_o ever_o they_o be_v therefore_o a_o ancient_n say_v well_o he_o that_o be_v good_a only_a under_o the_o cross_n it_o never_o good_a it_o come_v not_o from_o any_o change_n that_o god_n work_v but_o mere_o from_o self-love_n therefore_o present_o let_v we_o repent_v of_o those_o way_n that_o god_n convince_v our_o conscience_n to_o be_v evil_a way_n god_n may_v strike_v we_o sudden_o those_o that_o forget_v god_n and_o care_v not_o for_o he_o now_o it_o may_v be_v just_a with_o god_n to_o make_v they_o forget_v themselves_o to_o strike_v they_o with_o frenzy_n to_o take_v away_o the_o use_n of_o their_o memory_n then_o and_o when_o sickness_n come_v
