that_o inheritance_n uncorruptible_a and_o undefiled_a and_o that_o fare_v not_o away_o that_o be_v reserve_v in_o heaven_n for_o saint_n as_o these_o be_v covetous_a so_o be_v they_o that_o profess_v to_o be_v the_o lord_n people_n as_o these_o do_v spend_v the_o great_a part_n of_o their_o time_n and_o strength_n and_o part_n and_o ability_n to_o get_v wealth_n though_o they_o have_v no_o necessity_n so_o to_o do_v for_o they_o that_o have_v but_o from_o hand_n 〈◊〉_d mouth_n and_o must_v work_v for_o bread_n before_o they_o can_v have_v it_o have_v a_o necesâ—â—â—â—o_v spend_v most_o compassion_n unto_o their_o brethren_n so_o it_o be_v with_o they_o as_o they_o be_v negligent_a and_o remiss_a in_o that_o which_o they_o account_v to_o be_v the_o worship_n and_o service_n of_o the_o lord_n though_o some_o of_o they_o be_v zealous_a of_o it_o in_o their_o way_n so_o be_v many_o of_o the_o lord_n people_n and_o as_o these_o be_v proud_a and_o passionate_a and_o covenant-breaker_n and_o spend_v much_o time_n in_o prattle_v of_o needless_a thing_n when_o they_o come_v together_o and_o take_v no_o care_n to_o remember_v the_o word_n when_o they_o hear_v it_o so_o it_o be_v with_o many_o of_o they_o that_o proâ—ess_n to_o be_v the_o people_n of_o the_o lord_n now_o when_o the_o lord_n people_n do_v thus_o than_o they_o do_v great_o profane_v and_o pollute_v and_o wound_n and_o reproach_v the_o name_n of_o the_o lord_n for_o if_o there_o be_v a_o man_n that_o be_v a_o discreet_a man_n that_o be_v a_o good_a and_o a_o just_a man_n and_o a_o man_n be_v near_o his_o person_n be_v such_o but_o much_o more_o will_v it_o be_v a_o dishonour_n to_o he_o if_o his_o child_n be_v so_o and_o much_o more_o will_v it_o be_v a_o shame_n and_o a_o blot_n the_o whole_a earth_n when_o true_a holiness_n and_o spiritual_a beauty_n shall_v appear_v in_o it_o when_o it_o shall_v be_v array_v in_o the_o robe_n of_o righteousness_n and_o clothe_v with_o humility_n that_o shine_v beautiful_a raiment_n and_o be_v adorn_v with_o the_o ornament_n of_o a_o meek_a and_o quiet_a spirit_n and_o be_v beautify_v with_o the_o exceed_a precious_a jewel_n of_o faith_n and_o love_n when_o their_o faith_n in_o god_n shall_v be_v such_o as_o they_o shall_v not_o fear_v what_o all_o the_o unite_a force_n of_o man_n or_o of_o devil_n can_v do_v against_o they_o and_o their_o love_n such_o to_o god_n to_o his_o people_n and_o to_o mankind_n in_o general_n as_o it_o shall_v be_v the_o delight_n of_o their_o soul_n to_o do_v service_n to_o god_n and_o to_o do_v that_o wait_v for_o redemption_n from_o sin_n in_o jerusalem_n and_o that_o pray_v and_o long_o for_o the_o true_a glory_n of_o zion_n that_o it_o may_v true_o be_v a_o praise_n in_o the_o earth_n injurious_a unto_o he_o that_o he_o backbites_a and_o all_o these_o evil_n be_v common_a with_o backbiter_n and_o whisperer_n that_o be_v such_o person_n as_o be_v apt_a to_o take_v a_o liberty_n to_o speak_v any_o thing_n at_o any_o time_n to_o the_o defame_n undervalue_v or_o disparage_v a_o man_n behind_o his_o back_n i_o say_v it_o be_v common_a for_o back_o biter_n to_o be_v liar_n slanderer_n they_o loathe_v such_o thing_n but_o herein_o their_o own_o heart_n deceive_v they_o and_o they_o be_v deceive_v and_o though_o either_o they_o know_v not_o or_o think_v not_o or_o be_v not_o willing_a to_o think_v that_o they_o be_v deceive_v yet_o they_o be_v deceive_v and_o deceive_v other_o and_o the_o more_o eminent_a such_o person_n be_v for_o the_o good_a and_o the_o worth_n that_o appear_v in_o they_o in_o other_o respect_n the_o more_o they_o deceive_v the_o person_n to_o who_o they_o speak_v for_o they_o will_v be_v ready_a to_o think_v this_o be_v a_o good_a man_n or_o a_o good_a woman_n that_o speak_v these_o thing_n and_o they_o will_v not_o report_v thus_o if_o it_o be_v not_o so_o whereas_o if_o it_o be_v a_o loose_a person_n or_o a_o vile_a person_n that_o speak_v it_o their_o word_n will_v not_o be_v take_v up_o or_o credit_v so_o soon_o they_o can_v not_o so_o easy_o deceive_v the_o hearer_n and_o again_o if_o a_o man_n be_v a_o backbiter_n not_o upon_o the_o account_n of_o any_o offence_n give_v or_o take_v but_o mere_o through_o a_o disposition_n to_o prattle_v &_o taâ—â—le_n to_o be_v very_o talkative_a and_o full_a of_o word_n and_o a_o love_n to_o hear_v himself_o talk_v among_o company_n of_o which_o disposition_n woman_n usual_o be_v more_o guilty_a than_o man_n though_o some_o man_n be_v too_o guilty_a of_o it_o herein_o also_o the_o backbiter_n do_v become_v very_o guilty_a of_o lie_v and_o slander_v unrighteousness_n and_o deceitfulness_n and_o sow_v discord_n
and_o injuriousness_n for_o these_o praâ—lers_n and_o taâ—lers_n do_v either_o speak_v something_o they_o have_v hear_v from_o other_o tatler_n or_o tale-bearer_n or_o something_o which_o they_o conjecture_v or_o imagine_v from_o such_o and_o such_o circumstance_n or_o from_o seem_a ground_n or_o from_o mistake_n or_o misâ—pprehensâ—ons_n which_o they_o have_v in_o themselves_o or_o have_v â—eceived_v from_o other_o in_o which_o they_o think_v they_o have_v very_o strong_a ground_n for_o what_o they_o repoâ—t_v all_o which_o be_v examine_v may_v be_v no_o ground_n for_o such_o report_n and_o so_o in_o all_o these_o thing_n the_o talebearer_n that_o speak_v any_o thing_n that_o tend_v to_o the_o defame_n of_o a_o person_n not_o present_a be_v oftentimes_o a_o great_a liar_n and_o slanderer_n and_o be_v very_o unrighteous_a and_o unjust_a and_o be_v a_o sour_a of_o discord_n and_o be_v very_o injurious_a for_o it_o be_v very_o frequent_a for_o person_n that_o tell_v tale_n or_o report_n of_o thing_n which_o they_o have_v hear_v from_o other_o to_o make_v addition_n and_o alteration_n either_o through_o badness_n of_o memory_n or_o delight_n in_o many_o word_n or_o both_o for_o some_o can_v remember_v thing_n exact_o and_o they_o speak_v at_o random_n and_o other_o love_v many_o word_n and_o have_v a_o faculty_n to_o stretch_v thing_n beyond_o what_o they_o be_v and_o most_o be_v subject_a to_o mistake_v word_n and_o when_o one_o word_n be_v take_v for_o another_o or_o a_o sentence_n be_v take_v to_o have_v another_o meaning_n than_o be_v intend_v it_o much_o alter_v the_o caâ—e_n and_o on_o these_o account_v many_o mischief_n and_o evil_n have_v attend_v this_o kind_n of_o talebear_v also_o when_o person_n out_o of_o a_o desire_n to_o prattle_v and_o esleem_n that_o other_o have_v of_o they_o or_o of_o any_o work_n or_o worth_n of_o â—_z herein_o also_o such_o a_o backbiter_n be_v many_o time_n a_o heinous_a and_o grievous_a sinner_n in_o the_o forementioned_a particular_n and_o do_v prove_v to_o be_v also_o a_o proud_a boaster_n and_o evil_a doer_n in_o a_o high_a degree_n and_o by_o this_o time_n it_o do_v in_o part_n appear_v that_o the_o sin_n of_o backbiting_a be_v a_o heinous_a crime_n and_o it_o be_v no_o wonder_n that_o it_o be_v rank_v among_o the_o worst_a of_o sin_n but_o three_o as_o the_o scripture_n declare_v the_o sin_n cut_v off_o from_o that_o holy_a place_n every_o vessel_n therein_o must_v be_v holiness_n to_o the_o lord_n the_o three_o position_n that_o be_v to_o be_v lay_v down_o from_o the_o premise_n be_v this_o that_o position_n iii_o if_o as_o in_o the_o first_o position_n there_o be_v not_o a_o speedy_a humiliation_n and_o if_o as_o in_o the_o second_o there_o be_v not_o a_o speedy_a discharge_n excellent_a character_n give_v of_o this_o church_n as_o first_o they_o be_v labourer_n and_o labour_v in_o good_a work_n they_o be_v not_o idle_a drone_n in_o the_o church_n of_o christ_n but_o which_o say_v they_o be_v apostle_n and_o be_v not_o and_o find_v they_o liar_n which_o be_v their_o great_a commendation_n that_o they_o will_v not_o suffer_v any_o person_n to_o impose_v upon_o now_o who_o come_v much_o short_a of_o the_o good_a that_o be_v in_o they_o and_o it_o may_v be_v have_v much_o more_o lose_v their_o first_o love_n who_o have_v forsake_v their_o first_o husband_n and_o entertain_v other_o lover_n into_o their_o bosom_n who_o coldness_n of_o love_n be_v notorious_o manifest_a to_o man_n and_o angel_n and_o who_o extravagancy_n be_v many_o and_o great_a how_o can_v they_o expect_v any_o thing_n less_o but_o that_o that_o sentence_n shall_v be_v pronounce_v against_o they_o i_o will_v come_v unto_o such_z and_z such_o a_o church_n thou_o quick_o and_o remove_v thy_o candlestick_n out_o of_o his_o place_n except_o thou_o repent_v o_o that_o therefore_o all_o the_o church_n in_o england_n may_v remember_v from_o whence_o they_o be_v fall_v and_o in_o these_o follow_a scripture_n isa_n 5._o 17._o for_o the_o iniquity_n 2._o ezrâ—_n 16._o 2._o of_o his_o covetousness_n be_v i_o wroth_a and_o smite_v he_o i_o hide_v i_o and_o be_v wroth_a and_o he_o go_v on_o froward_o in_o the_o way_n of_o his_o heart_n i_o have_v see_v his_o way_n and_o i_o will_v heal_v he_o i_o will_v lead_v he_o also_o and_o restore_v comfort_n unto_o he_o and_o to_o his_o mourner_n i_o create_v the_o fruit_n of_o the_o lip_n peace_n peace_n to_o he_o that_o be_v far_o off_o and_o to_o he_o that_o be_v near_o say_v the_o lord_n and_o i_o will_v heal_v he_o but_o
