godliness_n be_v at_o first_o something_o unpleasing_a to_o man_n nature_n the_o crookedness_n and_o corruption_n thereof_o consider_v second_o that_o whatsoever_o the_o beginning_n be_v yet_o the_o end_n be_v full_a of_o sweetness_n touch_v the_o former_a how_o true_a it_o be_v may_v in_o part_n be_v gather_v out_o of_o that_o which_o have_v be_v say_v heretofore_o touch_v the_o thing_n concur_v with_o the_o very_a act_n of_o entrance_n humility_n and_o the_o elinquish_a of_o the_o pleasure_n of_o sin_n which_o we_o have_v former_o delight_v in_o both_o which_o be_v direct_o thwart_v and_o cross_v to_o man_n nature_n there_o be_v nothing_o that_o he_o be_v of_o himself_o more_o unwilling_a to_o do_v then_o to_o confess_v aught_o against_o himself_o to_o renounce_v his_o own_o will_n and_o to_o crucify_v and_o kill_v the_o strong_a affection_n of_o his_o own_o heart_n but_o this_o shall_v better_o appear_v if_o we_o enter_v into_o consideration_n of_o particular_n what_o duty_n of_o godliness_n soever_o we_o think_v upon_o we_o shall_v find_v the_o begin_n of_o it_o to_o be_v unsavery_a if_o a_o man_n will_v labour_v after_o some_o knowledge_n in_o religion_n at_o the_o first_o it_o will_v seem_v to_o be_v somewhat_o strait_a and_o cumbersome_a because_o it_o will_v require_v more_o care_n in_o redeem_v the_o time_n it_o will_v urge_v more_o diligence_n in_o hear_v in_o pray_v in_o meditation_n more_o respect_n to_o the_o sabbath_n than_o a_o man_n be_v wont_v before_o to_o make_v conscience_n of_o here_o will_v be_v something_o to_o do_v and_o no_o small_a wrestle_v with_o a_o man_n thought_n before_o he_o shall_v get_v the_o mastery_n over_o his_o own_o heart_n to_o retire_v himself_o and_o to_o divert_v the_o time_n former_o accustom_v to_o be_v spend_v in_o vanity_n to_o the_o build_n of_o himself_o up_o in_o knowledge_n it_o will_v seem_v to_o a_o man_n that_o there_o be_v no_o life_n in_o these_o course_n nothing_o but_o deadness_n and_o melancholines_n and_o no_o kind_n of_o contentment_n again_o suppose_v that_o a_o man_n heretofore_o negligent_a that_o way_n shall_v now_o begin_v to_o have_v some_o touch_n and_o shall_v entertain_v a_o resolution_n with_o himself_o of_o keep_v holy_a the_o lord_n day_n not_o according_a to_o common_a opinion_n but_o according_a to_o the_o true_a purpose_n &_o meaning_n of_o the_o lawmaker_n think_v we_o that_o he_o shall_v not_o at_o his_o very_a first_o entry_n into_o this_o way_n meet_v with_o many_o discouragement_n what_o a_o burden_n will_v here_o be_v for_o a_o man_n to_o seek_v to_o draw_v all_o his_o thought_n from_o earthly_a
