join_v the_o voice_n but_o yet_o not_o so_o slow_a neither_o that_o many_o shall_v run_v before_o he_o in_o repeat_v the_o prayer_n and_o the_o belief_n as_o people_n be_v apt_a to_o do_v which_o seem_v to_o i_o a_o very_a indecent_a thing_n and_o a_o affront_n to_o the_o ministerial_a office_n which_o be_v always_o to_o lead_v in_o the_o public_a duty_n of_o religion_n and_o in_o repeat_v the_o psalm_n he_o shall_v make_v such_o observation_n that_o his_o speech_n may_v bear_v proportion_n with_o the_o generality_n of_o the_o congregation_n and_o that_o there_o be_v no_o pause_n between_o their_o end_n one_o verse_n and_o his_o beginning_n another_o but_o that_o he_o come_v in_o with_o they_o at_o the_o last_o word_n which_o make_v this_o exercise_n more_o like_a psalmody_n part_n of_o her_o duty_n and_o the_o declaration_n of_o her_o catholic_n unity_n so_o every_o minister_n of_o god_n and_o his_o church_n shall_v show_v his_o great_a esteem_n thereof_o by_o the_o most_o solemn_a and_o devout_a manner_n of_o repear_v the_o same_o beside_o in_o honour_n of_o the_o author_n and_o for_o the_o excellency_n of_o the_o matter_n and_o the_o comprehensiveness_n of_o the_o word_n as_o
in_o that_o we_o repeat_v that_o prayer_n in_o the_o most_o solemn_a and_o triumphant_a manner_n we_o be_v able_a and_o every_o one_o by_o a_o great_a fervency_n and_o devotion_n therein_o do_v most_o service_n to_o which_o this_o discourse_n chief_o relate_v and_o in_o these_o it_o be_v very_o commendable_a to_o say_v after_o the_o minister_n but_o now_o if_o those_o that_o be_v natural_o loquacious_a find_v a_o delight_n in_o say_v what_o they_o shall_v remit_v the_o exercise_n of_o their_o consideration_n so_o far_o as_o to_o say_v that_o they_o shall_v not_o here_o be_v a_o fault_n that_o ought_v to_o be_v amend_v and_o i_o be_o sure_a on_o serious_a thought_n they_o that_o love_v our_o prayer_n will_v free_o incline_v so_o to_o do_v for_o they_o will_v easy_o perceive_v how_o indecent_a it_o be_v for_o they_o to_o say_v after_o the_o minister_n where_o he_o be_v suppose_v to_o speak_v to_o they_o either_o by_o way_n of_o exhortation_n consolation_n or_o admonition_n and_o that_o the_o people_n shall_v absolve_v the_o priest_n as_o much_o as_o the_o priest_n absolve_v they_o this_o have_v great_a absurdity_n and_o on_o that_o consideration_n will_v i_o hope_v ready_o be_v reform_v it_o be_v true_a in_o the_o conclusion_n of_o the_o absolution_n when_o the_o minister_n speak_v to_o himself_o as_o well_o as_o the_o people_n as_o the_o result_n 〈◊〉_d his_o declaration_n of_o god_n pardon_v merâ—â—_n to_o the_o penitent_a to_o exhort_v that_o we_o shall_v beseech_v god_n to_o grant_v we_o true_a repentance_n and_o his_o holy_a spirit_n 〈◊〉_d etc._n name_n and_o to_o proceed_v to_o all_o the_o rest_n it_o be_v meet_v that_o we_o prepare_v ourselves_o with_o this_o humble_a desire_n that_o god_n will_v assist_v the_o sincerity_n of_o our_o repentance_n and_o bestow_v on_o we_o the_o grace_n of_o his_o holy_a spirit_n that_o such_o performance_n may_v be_v well-pleasing_a to_o he_o and_o the_o effect_n profitable_a to_o we_o render_v uâ—_n more_o pure_a and_o holy_a in_o the_o remainder_n oâ—_n our_o life_n and_o so_o secure_v our_o admittance_n into_o his_o eternal_a joy_n at_o the_o end_n thereof_o 2._o as_o the_o former_a custom_n of_o say_v after_o the_o minister_n where_o we_o shall_v attend_v and_o say_v nothing_o seem_v indecent_a so_o it_o seem_v as_o much_o if_o not_o moâ—â—_n so_o when_o the_o people_n say_v before_o he_o what_o they_o shall_v say_v after_o he_o and_o this_o appear_v to_o be_v a_o disorder_n on_o the_o forementioned_a account_n that_o it_o be_v a_o invade_v his_o ministerial_a function_n for_o he_o be_v to_o lead_v and_o guide_v the_o people_n in_o all_o the_o public_a office_n of_o religion_n and_o neither_o to_o follow_v their_o humour_n in_o the_o manner_n of_o his_o prayer_n if_o he_o be_v in_o other_o respect_n to_o order_v they_o as_o he_o please_v or_o to_o follow_v the_o measure_n of_o their_o voice_n where_o the_o word_n as_o well_o as_o the_o matter_n be_v prescribe_v though_o in_o both_o respect_n minister_n be_v fain_o sometime_o to_o depart_v from_o their_o right_n and_o as_o i_o have_v know_v in_o former_a time_n many_o that_o use_v the_o way_n of_o extempore_o prayer_n before_o their_o sermon_n only_o to_o humour_v the_o people_n when_o in_o their_o own_o judgement_n they_o much_o prefer_v the_o constant_a use_n of_o a_o well-composed_a form_n so_o i_o know_v some_o now_o who_o do_v read_v the_o prayer_n very_o fast_o and_o that_o beyond_o what_o the_o solemnity_n of_o the_o matter_n can_v bear_v only_o as_o i_o charitable_o hope_v because_o they_o see_v the_o people_n so_o subject_a to_o this_o disorder_n of_o run_v before_o they_o which_o they_o know_v not_o how_o to_o remedy_v otherwise_o or_o because_o they_o see_v some_o hate_n to_o be_v long_o at_o church_n but_o beside_o this_o there_o be_v other_o ill_a effect_n of_o this_o custom_n in_o respect_n of_o ourselves_o and_o othersâ—_n for_o it_o much_o hâ—â—ders_v the_o devout_a operation_n of_o the_o mindâ—_n which_o be_v much_o assist_v 〈◊〉_d hear_v the_o matter_n first_o speak_v by_o the_o minister_n and_o by_o fix_v on_o the_o intent_n consideration_n thereof_o which_o he_o speak_v so_o as_o wâ—_n can_v speak_v afterward_o with_o much_o greateâ—_n fervency_n and_o affection_n as_o every_o one_o experience_n will_v witness_v that_o will_v but_o trâ—_n the_o thing_n and_o again_o those_o that_o have_v so_o accustom_v themselves_o to_o speak_v before_o the_o minister_n be_v at_o a_o far_o great_a loss_n to_o say_v such_o new_a prayer_n or_o penitential_a psalm_n which_o be_v sometime_o order_v on_o fast_n to_o be_v say_v with_o the_o minister_n than_o those_o who_o be_v right_o practise_v in_o the_o regular_a way_n for_o that_o make_v it_o easy_a to_o say_v and_o that_o very_o decent_o such_o thing_n after_o the_o minister_n as_o we_o never_o hear_v before_o for_o if_o we_o attend_v well_o unto_o the_o main_a of_o the_o sentence_n which_o we_o be_v to_o repeat_v we_o shall_v be_v able_a to_o guess_v at_o the_o conclusion_n so_o that_o we_o need_v not_o stay_v till_o he_o have_v quite_o do_v before_o we_o begin_v but_o may_v hear_v the_o last_o while_o we_o speak_v the_o first_o so_o as_o to_o say_v all_o right_a and_o may_v come_v up_o with_o he_o in_o the_o conclusion_n as_o be_v most_o decent_a and_o this_o will_v make_v much_o for_o the_o solemn_a performance_n of_o the_o service_n on_o extraordinary_a time_n wherein_o now_o for_o the_o most_o part_n only_o the_o minister_n and_o clerk_n â—re_n speaker_n and_o the_o congregation_n sit_v and_o look_v on_o which_o to_o i_o show_v very_o â—ll_o but_o further_a i_o have_v hear_v some_o complain_n that_o come_v over_o from_o the_o nonconformist_n to_o our_o church_n and_o attend_v our_o prayer_n that_o this_o be_v to_o they_o a_o most_o offensive_a disorder_n and_o that_o it_o tend_v very_o much_o to_o distract_v their_o devotion_n when_o those_o that_o â—it_n by_o they_o thus_o ramble_v over_o the_o prayer_n and_o be_v at_o the_o end_n before_o the_o minister_n be_v half_a way_n and_o i_o believe_v it_o can_v but_o give_v some_o disturbance_n to_o the_o minister_n himself_o i_o be_o sure_a it_o have_v be_v no_o small_a offence_n to_o i_o so_o that_o i_o can_v hardly_o forbear_v tell_v they_o of_o it_o but_o that_o i_o consider_v it_o require_v more_o sedate_n discourse_n than_o that_o season_n will_v afford_v and_o this_o be_v one_o chief_a cause_n i_o engage_v in_o this_o work_n and_o i_o hope_v those_o who_o have_v not_o consider_v this_o matter_n will_v be_v persuade_v by_o what_o i_o have_v write_v to_o order_v themselves_o better_a for_o the_o time_n to_o come_v the_o 3d._a thing_n be_v that_o the_o people_n general_o answer_v the_o minister_n especial_o in_o the_o response_n and_o psalmody_n with_o too_o soft_a a_o voice_n and_o be_v so_o little_o hear_v that_o it_o have_v seem_v to_o i_o come_v into_o the_o church_n whilst_o such_o exercise_n be_v perform_v as_o if_o the_o minister_n read_v a_o verse_n and_o then_o stopâ—_n a_o while_n and_o read_v again_o the_o people_n beiâ—â—_n so_o little_o hear_v especial_o if_o
