thought_n of_o it_o no_o the_o wonder_n rather_o be_v that_o such_o a_o one_o can_v have_v any_o case_n and_o quietness_n any_o freedom_n from_o horror_n and_o perplexity_n of_o mind_n that_o he_o so_o necessary_a and_o seasonable_a that_o those_o very_a thing_n which_o here_o be_v a_o temptation_n to_o we_o to_o deny_v god_n shall_v in_o heaven_n prove_v a_o powerful_a engagement_n for_o we_o word_n of_o god_n and_o the_o providence_n of_o god_n but_o must_v profess_v as_o a_o great_a noble_a and_o learned_a person_n do_v both_o very_o ingenious_o and_o pious_o also_o that_o though_o there_o be_v something_o of_o difficulty_n in_o a_o studious_a employment_n of_o our_o thought_n in_o the_o contemplation_n of_o these_o thing_n yet_o be_v they_o also_o so_o please_v and_o invite_v and_o if_o god_n shall_v exempt_v we_o from_o public_a and_o private_a calamity_n and_o distress_n while_o we_o live_v yet_o all_o of_o we_o know_v there_o be_v a_o time_n a_o come_n when_o we_o they_o shall_v stick_v at_o no_o difficulty_n or_o danger_n for_o the_o attain_n of_o they_o and_o shall_v not_o the_o fore-thought_n of_o heaven_n and_o the_o contemplation_n of_o the_o glory_n and_o happiness_n that_o be_v there_o to_o be_v eternal_o enjoy_v put_v life_n and_o vigour_n zeal_n and_o activity_n into_o the_o soul_n of_o a_o christian_a in_o all_o his_o duty_n sure_o it_o will_v himself_o give_v way_n to_o earthliness_n and_o vanity_n abate_v and_o lessen_v the_o exercise_v of_o his_o soul_n in_o the_o contemplation_n of_o heaven_n and_o heavenly_a thing_n he_o soon_o become_v as_o weak_a as_o vain_a and_o sometime_o as_o profane_v also_o as_o another_o man_n who_o be_v altogether_o estrange_v unto_o this_o life_n of_o heavenly_a contemplation_n the_o way_n therefore_o for_o christian_n to_o shake_v off_o their_o deadness_n and_o dulness_n in_o duty_n and_o to_o be_v rid_v of_o their_o sloathfulness_n and_o heaviness_n in_o the_o way_n of_o god_n be_v to_o betake_v themselves_o to_o heaven_n where_o christ_n who_o be_v their_o life_n and_o strength_n be_v and_o from_o whence_o alone_o all_o their_o quicken_a and_o enliven_a influence_n do_v
continue_a perseverance_n and_o improvement_n of_o grace_n here_o for_o grace_n and_o glory_n be_v one_o and_o the_o same_o thing_n and_o differ_v only_o in_o degree_n the_o scripture_n therefore_o in_o happiness_n now_o indeed_o be_v the_o infancy_n of_o grace_n and_o then_o be_v the_o mature_a age._n now_o the_o twilight_n than_o the_o noon-tide_n glory_n of_o it_o but_o still_o grace_n and_o glory_n differ_v only_o in_o degree_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v suitable_a to_o the_o wisdom_n justice_n and_o holiness_n of_o god_n to_o reward_v good_a and_o holy_a work_n with_o glory_n because_o they_o be_v the_o disposition_n and_o preparation_n for_o it_o now_o before_o i_o put_v a_o period_n to_o my_o discourse_n concern_v this_o sweet_a and_o delightful_a subject_n of_o the_o saint_n delight_n that_o the_o world_n afford_v they_o can_v they_o but_o attain_v so_o many_o hundred_o or_o thousand_o can_v they_o compass_v such_o a_o earthly_a possession_n or_o enjoyment_n o_o this_o will_v be_v enough_o to_o make_v they_o happy_a the_o thing_n of_o the_o world_n be_v all_o the_o portion_n they_o crave_v for_o themselves_o but_o sure_o such_o noble_a affection_n as_o god_n have_v endow_v man_n withal_o shall_v not_o be_v so_o lavish_o lay_v out_o upon_o such_o vile_a and_o contemptible_a thing_n as_o all_o worldly_a enjoyment_n be_v a_o earthly_a conversation_n be_v very_o unsuitable_a to_o a_o spiritual_a and_o heavenly_a hope_n and_o expectation_n have_v thou_o o_o christian_n lay_v up_o thy_o treasure_n above_o what_o then_o do_v thy_o heart_n and_o affection_n so_o much_o here_o below_o be_v thy_o life_n hide_v with_o christ_n in_o god_n whence_o then_o be_v it_o that_o thy_o converse_n be_v so_o much_o with_o creature_n enjoyment_n as_o if_o thy_o life_n and_o eternal_a happiness_n upon_o a_o believer_n though_o not_o for_o yet_o in_o the_o way_n of_o duty_n and_o holy_a obedience_n this_o shall_v certain_o take_v he_o off_o from_o be_v scandalize_v at_o the_o cross_n no_o christian_a but_o shall_v walk_v cheerful_o in_o that_o way_n in_o which_o he_o be_v sure_a he_o shall_v find_v heaven_n at_o the_o end_n though_o he_o meet_v with_o affliction_n and_o trouble_n in_o his_o passage_n to_o it_o the_o cross_n shall_v never_o cause_v a_o believer_n to_o stumble_v in_o much_o less_o to_o turn_v out_o of_o that_o way_n that_o lead_v to_o heaven_n no_o man_n shall_v think_v much_o to_o do_v or_o suffer_v any_o thing_n to_o partake_v of_o so_o great_a a_o happiness_n as_o the_o enjoyment_n of_o heaven_n speak_v that_o man_n know_v little_a what_o heaven_n mean_v that_o can_v think_v or_o speak_v hardly_o of_o any_o way_n of_o god_n that_o lead_v to_o it_o it_o be_v a_o great_a discouragement_n unto_o many_o when_o they_o be_v look_v heaven-ward_n that_o they_o meet_v with_o so_o many_o trouble_n and_o affliction_n in_o the_o way_n especial_o if_o they_o be_v great_a and_o of_o long_a continuance_n but_o know_v thou_o not_o o_o christian_n that_o thou_o ought_v not_o to_o be_v trouble_v at_o any_o affliction_n that_o befall_v thou_o in_o thy_o way_n to_o heaven_n know_v that_o thereunto_o thou_o be_v appoint_v as_o the_o apostle_n speak_v i_o thes_n 3.3_o and_o though_o thou_o can_v not_o conclude_v that_o heaven_n belong_v to_o thou_o because_o thou_o be_v afflict_v for_o in_o a_o evil_a way_n thou_o may_v just_o expect_v to_o meet_v with_o suffering_n yet_o this_o thou_o may_v assure_v thyself_o of_o that_o if_o thou_o leave_v the_o way_n of_o god_n and_o holy_a obedience_n because_o of_o suffering_n thou_o be_v for_o the_o present_a turn_v out_o of_o the_o way_n that_o lead_v to_o heaven_n and_o if_o god_n have_v any_o love_n for_o thy_o soul_n and_o intend_v to_o bestow_v heaven_n and_o happiness_n upon_o thou_o he_o will_v reduce_v thou_o back_o though_o by_o some_o affliction_n and_o probable_o by_o some_o smart_n and_o severe_a one_o too_o but_o why_o o_o christian_n shall_v affliction_n and_o suffering_n discourage_v thou_o will_v not_o heaven_n make_v amends_o for_o all_o thou_o endure_v here_o what_o say_v the_o bless_a apostle_n st._n paul_n who_o doubtless_o undergo_v as_o many_o suffering_n as_o any_o we_o read_v of_o in_o scripture_n and_o yet_o say_v he_o rom._n 8.18_o i_o reckon_v and_o his_o reckon_n be_v according_o to_o truth_n that_o the_o suffering_n of_o this_o glorious_a thing_n christian_n be_v hereby_o call_v to_o the_o performance_n of_o few_o understand_v and_o few_o live_v in_o the_o practice_n of_o and_o here_o i_o can_v but_o take_v occasion_n to_o show_v my_o detestation_n of_o that_o great_a sin_n which_o be_v too_o frequent_a in_o this_o age_n of_o abominable_a licentiousness_n i_o mean_v the_o sin_n of_o condemn_v shall_v i_o say_v nay_o of_o scoff_v and_o deride_v at_o that_o which_o be_v call_v strictness_n and_o preciseness_n in_o the_o way_n of_o god_n as_o if_o any_o can_v be_v too_o circumspect_a in_o avoid_v of_o sin_n too_o strict_a in_o the_o discharge_n of_o his_o duty_n too_o careful_a in_o his_o endeavour_n to_o serve_v and_o please_v god_n or_o can_v have_v too_o much_o of_o grace_n and_o holiness_n in_o which_o a_o christian_a be_v bind_v to_o grow_v and_o increase_v all_o his_o day_n as_o if_o a_o man_n can_v be_v too_o like_a unto_o god_n in_o that_o which_o be_v his_o high_a excellency_n and_o glory_n i_o mean_v his_o holiness_n for_o he_o be_v call_v a_o god_n glorious_a in_o holiness_n in_o heaven_n there_o be_v the_o great_a exactness_n that_o can_v be_v for_o there_o be_v holiness_n and_o nothing_o but_o holiness_n yea_o there_o be_v nothing_o but_o holiness_n in_o the_o utmost_a perfection_n of_o it_o and_o how_o can_v thou_o then_o o_o profane_a sinner_n who_o now_o scoff_a at_o holiness_n in_o the_o people_n of_o god_n expect_v to_o be_v admit_v into_o that_o holy_a place_n hereafter_o heavenly_a hope_n and_o expectation_n require_v a_o heavenly_a conversation_n which_o thou_o be_v perfect_o void_a of_o whilst_o thou_o be_v a_o derider_n at_o holiness_n in_o other_o those_o therefore_o who_o hope_n and_o expectation_n be_v set_v upon_o heaven_n must_v manifest_v it_o by_o a_o conversation_n and_o deportment_n suitable_a thereunto_o now_o this_o in_o the_o general_n may_v imply_v two_o thing_n holiness_n of_o conversation_n and_o cheerfulness_n of_o conversation_n first_o it_o imply_v a_o holy_a conversation_n the_o apostle_n 2_o pet._n 3.11_o speak_v unto_o those_o who_o live_v in_o expectation_n of_o the_o glory_n and_o happiness_n of_o heaven_n what_o manner_n of_o person_n say_v he_o ought_v you_o to_o be_v in_o all_o holy_a conversation_n and_o godliness_n a_o holiness_n even_o unto_o wonder_n and_o admiration_n shall_v shine_v forth_o and_o adorn_v the_o conversation_n of_o those_o who_o expect_v such_o a_o bless_a day_n as_o this_o be_v christian_n hope_n be_v to_o be_v like_a unto_o angel_n in_o glory_n and_o happiness_n and_o therefore_o they_o shall_v now_o as_o far_o as_o be_v possible_a live_v like_o angel_n in_o the_o flesh_n in_o the_o practice_n of_o holiness_n in_o 2._o cor._n 7.1_o say_v the_o apostle_n have_v these_o promise_n what_o promise_v why_o he_o tell_v we_o in_o the_o forego_n chapter_n promise_v of_o be_v the_o son_n and_o daughter_n of_o god_n by_o adoption_n and_o regeneration_n and_o so_o come_v to_o have_v a_o right_n and_o title_n to_o the_o heavenly_a inheritance_n in_o glory_n have_v such_o promise_n as_o these_o it_o become_v we_o to_o carry_v ourselves_o as_o those_o that_o look_v for_o such_o great_a thing_n by_o cleanse_v ourselves_o from_o all_o pollution_n of_o flesh_n and_o spirit_n perfect_a holiness_n in_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n and_o most_o clear_a be_v that_o in_o 1_o john_n 3.3_o where_o the_o apostle_n have_v a_o little_a before_o set_v forth_o the_o greatness_n of_o god_n love_n to_o himself_o and_o other_o a_o instance_n whereof_o he_o give_v we_o in_o these_o word_n that_o they_o shall_v be_v call_v the_o son_n of_o god_n which_o though_o it_o be_v a_o great_a privilege_n yet_o be_v there_o more_o to_o come_v still_o something_o that_o be_v great_a and_o extraordinary_a we_o be_v look_v for_o &_o though_o we_o know_v not_o what_o we_o shall_v be_v for_o it_o do_v not_o yet_o appear_v yet_o this_o we_o do_v know_v that_o when_o he_o shall_v appear_v we_o shall_v be_v like_o he_o for_o we_o shall_v see_v he_o as_o he_o be_v now_o follow_v the_o apostle_n inference_n from_o all_o this_o which_o shall_v be_v the_o practice_n of_o every_o christian_a that_o have_v the_o same_o hope_n that_o he_o have_v of_o be_v like_a unto_o christ_n and_o of_o see_v god_n as_o he_o be_v which_o be_v only_o in_o heaven_n why_o he_o that_o have_v this_o hope_n in_o he_o
