which_o it_o be_v blasphemy_n to_o entitle_v god_n in_o any_o efficient_a causation_n god_n will_v by_o these_o instance_n let_v we_o see_v man_n be_v but_o man_n but_o yet_o there_o be_v such_o a_o ordinary_a influence_n of_o divine_a providence_n that_o although_o some_o kingdom_n and_o commonwealth_n in_o a_o superfoetation_n of_o law_n may_v have_v some_o wicked_a and_o impious_a other_o the_o heart_n of_o those_o who_o be_v instruct_v to_o the_o make_n of_o rule_n for_o the_o government_n of_o the_o great_a body_n of_o his_o people_n be_v instruct_v also_o from_o the_o lord_n who_o be_v great_a in_o wisdom_n and_o wonderful_a in_o counsel_n and_o herein_o be_v the_o mighty_a power_n and_o wisdom_n of_o god_n see_v in_o the_o preservation_n of_o political_a society_n 3._o a_o three_o thing_n wherein_o the_o providence_n of_o god_n be_v see_v in_o the_o preserve_n of_o these_o society_n be_v in_o the_o ordinary_a silence_v of_o those_o passion_n in_o man_n which_o disorder_n and_o disturb_v all_o government_n we_o just_o look_v upon_o it_o as_o a_o merciful_a piece_n of_o divine_a providence_n to_o conceal_v from_o some_o beast_n of_o great_a use_n in_o our_o life_n their_o own_o strength_n which_o if_o know_v to_o they_o will_v make_v they_o our_o master_n the_o multitude_n in_o any_o polity_n be_v as_o a_o unruly_a beast_n and_o all_o government_n be_v preserve_v by_o their_o ignorance_n of_o their_o own_o strength_n and_o the_o bridle_n of_o divine_a providence_n by_o which_o god_n keep_v they_o in_o and_o silence_v their_o passion_n which_o if_o let_v loose_a will_v quick_o turn_v all_o into_o a_o tumult_n and_o confusion_n the_o individual_n of_o all_o society_n be_v full_a of_o boisterous_a and_o brutish_a passion_n so_o as_o a_o considerate_a man_n when_o he_o look_v upon_o such_o a_o city_n as_o this_o or_o any_o other_o great_a political_a body_n and_o consider_v how_o many_o person_n be_v in_o it_o of_o unruly_a temper_n and_o passion_n who_o either_o know_v not_o the_o rule_n of_o natural_a justice_n and_o equity_n or_o if_o they_o know_v any_o thing_n of_o they_o their_o lust_n and_o passion_n will_v not_o suffer_v they_o to_o live_v in_o any_o just_a observance_n of_o they_o will_v see_v reason_n to_o wonder_v how_o people_n of_o such_o heterogeneous_a temper_n and_o different_a passion_n shall_v ever_o live_v together_o a_o year_n or_o a_o month_n in_o peace_n and_o any_o degree_n of_o order_n nor_o be_v there_o any_o thing_n which_o hold_v they_o together_o but_o the_o wonderful_a influence_n of_o restrain_v influence_n upon_o unruly_a turbulent_a spirit_n he_o that_o rule_v the_o rage_a of_o the_o sea_n and_o still_v the_o wave_n thereof_o when_o they_o arise_v rule_v also_o the_o passion_n fit_n of_o disorder_n be_v enough_o to_o convince_v man_n that_o the_o general_a tie_n of_o people_n have_v not_o reason_n enough_o to_o be_v a_o law_n unto_o themselves_o but_o be_v mere_o govern_v and_o overrule_v by_o the_o influence_n of_o god_n restraint_n upon_o they_o for_o the_o preservation_n of_o his_o people_n in_o their_o political_a society_n 4._o a_o four_o thing_n wherein_o the_o subject_v they_o if_o they_o be_v long_o under_o the_o spirit_n of_o bondage_n than_o other_o you_o will_v see_v at_o the_o same_o case_n with_o they_o in_o other_o thing_n exciting_a those_o passion_n and_o unless_o you_o will_v suppose_v that_o god_n in_o the_o conversion_n of_o such_o shall_v work_v miraculous_o and_o alter_v their_o natural_a complexion_n and_o constitution_n it_o be_v not_o reasonable_a to_o suppose_v that_o it_o shall_v be_v otherwise_o it_o be_v but_o according_a to_o the_o natural_a working_n of_o their_o spirit_n who_o can_v get_v off_o no_o occasion_n of_o sorrow_n and_o trouble_n so_o soon_o as_o other_o can_v who_o be_v of_o more_o airy_a &_o cheer_o constitution_n 2._o but_o a_o second_o reason_n of_o this_o variety_n may_v reasonable_o be_v design_n which_o god_n have_v upon_o such_o a_o convert_a soul_n and_o that_o either_o with_o respect_n unto_o other_o or_o with_o respect_n to_o the_o carry_v on_o of_o his_o work_n in_o his_o own_o believer_n who_o he_o love_v he_o love_v to_o the_o end_n for_o if_o this_o be_v not_o so_o there_o be_v a_o possibility_n of_o a_o total_a apostasy_n and_o of_o the_o intercision_n of_o a_o state_n education_n honour_n riches_n all_o these_o have_v a_o goodness_n in_o they_o which_o lie_v in_o their_o suitableness_n to_o the_o use_n of_o humane_a life_n or_o society_n the_o blind_a heathen_a not_o see_v the_o fountainhead_n of_o these_o beautiful_a stream_n ascribe_v they_o to_o fortune_n but_o they_o be_v all_o in_o the_o hand_n of_o providence_n that_o give_v to_o one_o a_o long_o to_o another_o a_o short_a life_n to_o one_o great_a to_o another_o lesser_a measure_n of_o health_n and_o strength_n etc._n etc._n to_o one_o more_o judgement_n wit_n etc._n etc._n than_o to_o another_o but_o i_o chief_o understand_v my_o observation_n of_o the_o good_a thing_n which_o the_o heathen_a call_v bona_fw-la fortunae_fw-la the_o good_a thing_n of_o fortune_n such_o as_o honour_n riches_n etc._n etc._n these_o also_o be_v the_o lord_n he_o it_o be_v say_v moses_n that_o give_v we_o power_n to_o get_v wealth_n and_o the_o holy_a ghost_n by_o another_o penman_n tell_v we_o that_o promotion_n come_v neither_o from_o the_o east_n nor_o from_o the_o west_n but_o god_n pull_v down_o one_o and_o set_v up_o another_o promotion_n do_v most_o depend_v upon_o the_o favour_n of_o the_o great_a man_n of_o the_o earth_n and_o you_o shall_v observe_v the_o scripture_n everywhere_o make_v god_n the_o author_n of_o the_o favour_n and_o grace_n which_o person_n have_v find_v in_o the_o rotation_n of_o all_o these_o sublunary_a contentment_n in_o which_o you_o know_v the_o same_o spoke_n be_v not_o always_o up_o nor_o down_o but_o sometime_o these_o spoke_n be_v uppermost_a by_o
