quaker_n own_o confession_n that_o they_o now_o say_v they_o have_v for_o a_o rule_n of_o their_o faith_n and_o practice_n sect._n 7._o i_o be_o sorry_a that_o before_o i_o conclude_v i_o shall_v have_v occasion_n give_v i_o to_o tax_n mr._n pen_n of_o insincerity_n and_o deceitful_a deal_n about_o this_o matter_n of_o the_o quaker_n doctrine_n touch_v the_o holy_a scripture_n by_o read_v the_o late_a little_a book_n he_o set_v out_o entitle_v a_o just_a rebuke_n but_o more_o proper_o a_o huff_a rebuke_n p._n 10._o those_o very_a word_n he_o tell_v his_o opponent_n reflect_v most_o just_o as_o a_o just_a rebuke_n on_o himself_o i_o must_v tell_v he_o he_o have_v act_v with_o they_o herein_o far_o from_o a_o man_n of_o common_a ingenuity_n for_o whereas_o w.p._n assert_v the_o quaker_n deny_v the_o scripture_n to_o be_v the_o word_n of_o god_n in_o that_o sense_n wherein_o they_o deny_v they_o viz._n the_o word_n that_o be_v god_n the_o essential_a word_n do_v not_o w.p._n in_o his_o conscience_n know_v that_o none_o of_o these_o presbyterian_o independent_o nor_o any_o other_o ever_o assert_v against_o the_o quaker_n that_o the_o scripture_n be_v in_o that_o sense_n the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o consequent_o be_v no_o part_n of_o the_o matter_n in_o dispute_n and_o not_o only_o so_o but_o do_v not_o w._n p_n conscience_n witness_n that_o the_o quaker_n have_v and_o do_v deny_v the_o scripture_n to_o be_v the_o write_a word_n of_o god_n in_o which_o sense_n those_o man_n do_v not_o deny_v the_o scripture_n to_o be_v the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o the_o quaker_n do_v and_o therefore_o w.p._n must_v act_n against_o his_o conscience_n in_o tax_v they_o of_o be_v herein_o far_o from_o man_n of_o common_a ingenuity_n when_o it_o be_v only_o his_o own_o dis-ingenuity_n thus_o to_o quibble_n and_o deceive_v people_n and_o second_o the_o like_a fallacy_n double_a deal_n and_o insincerity_n w.p._n manifest_v in_o his_o word_n about_o the_o scripture_n be_v a_o rule_n as_o if_o the_o quaker_n own_v the_o scripture_n to_o be_v a_o rule_n in_o some_o thing_n or_o some_o part_n of_o the_o scripture_n to_o be_v a_o rule_n to_o they_o whereas_o it_o be_v manifest_a that_o the_o quaker_n have_v over_o and_o over_o again_o deny_v the_o scripture_n in_o general_a and_o not_o some_o part_n of_o it_o only_o to_o be_v their_o rule_n yea_o in_o these_o express_a word_n the_o book_n of_o the_o old_a and_o new_a testament_n call_v the_o bible_n see_v the_o beginning_n of_o this_o section_n oh_o quaker_n repent_v repent_v of_o such_o wickedness_n and_o for_o shame_n leave_v off_o such_o double_a heart_a deal_v and_o most_o unparalleled_a confidence_n do_v not_o think_v all_o your_o countryman_n fool_n beside_o yourselves_o as_o if_o they_o can_v not_o discern_v such_o petty_a slight_n and_o quibble_n and_o take_v notice_n of_o they_o and_o you_o also_o as_o not_o single-hearted_n in_o they_o sect._n 8._o for_o my_o part_n i_o never_o think_v any_o man_n blame-worthy_a nor_o will_v be_v he_o that_o shall_v blame_v any_o man_n for_o change_v his_o opinion_n or_o judgement_n if_o so_o be_v he_o do_v it_o upon_o better_a ground_n and_o do_v not_o pretend_v to_o infallibility_n nor_o scorn_n nor_o blame_v other_o for_o confess_v their_o fallibility_n but_o do_v honest_o and_o ingenuous_o acknowledge_v that_o he_o be_v before_o mistake_v and_o in_o a_o error_n but_o for_o man_n to_o change_v their_o opinion_n either_o real_o and_o yet_o endeavour_v confident_o to_o vindicate_v and_o justify_v their_o former_a absurdity_n and_o error_n or_o pretend_o only_o to_o fawn_n and_o flatter_v or_o curry_v favour_n with_o their_o adversary_n or_o any_o other_o of_o the_o world_n and_o yet_o still_o to_o pretend_v to_o infallibility_n be_v so_o low_a abominable_o base_a and_o hypocritical_a or_o so_o impudent_a that_o it_o be_v not_o to_o be_v admit_v by_o or_o among_o any_o sober_a and_o honest_a men._n now_o whether_o this_o change_n alteration_n and_o difference_n in_o the_o quaker_n word_n and_o write_n epithet_n and_o phrase_n about_o the_o holy_a scripture_n be_v real_a or_o only_o hypocritical_a and_o temporize_v out_o of_o design_n to_o blind_v other_o and_o to_o ingratiate_v themselves_o a_o little_a more_o into_o people_n affection_n and_o goodwill_n of_o the_o world_n god_n and_o their_o own_o conscience_n best_o know_v yet_o the_o last_o be_v much_o to_o be_v fear_v for_o this_o reason_n because_o they_o be_v so_o far_o from_o dis-owning_a their_o former_a mistake_n and_o mis-expressing_a themselves_o that_o they_o stand_v to_o vindicate_v and_o justify_v it_o but_o be_v it_o either_o way_n they_o thereby_o show_v their_o uncertainty_n inconstancy_n and_o self-contradiction_n confusion_n and_o the_o effect_n of_o their_o fallibility_n sect._n 9_o and_o therefore_o i_o will_v only_o desire_v g.w._n to_o tell_v i_o honest_o if_o there_o be_v any_o such_o thing_n leave_v in_o he_o or_o that_o he_o may_v return_v to_o without_o quibble_v or_o equivocation_n or_o if_o not_o i_o that_o he_o will_v acquaint_v his_o countryman_n 1._o whether_o he_o do_v now_o believe_v that_o the_o holy_a scripture_n both_o of_o the_o old_a and_o new_a testament_n common_o call_v the_o bible_n be_v the_o letter_n which_o be_v death_n and_o kill_v or_o whether_o they_o be_v the_o letter_n mention_v or_o mean_v by_o the_o apostle_n paul_n in_o 2_o cor._n 3.6_o and_o 2._o if_o he_o doâ—h_v now_o believe_v that_o be_v the_o scripture_n never_o so_o certain_a and_o entire_a yet_o that_o they_o be_v not_o capable_a to_o be_v to_o all_o man_n any_o other_o than_o a_o nose_n of_o wax_n 3._o and_o whether_o he_o or_o w._n pen_n and_o the_o quaker_n do_v now_o witness_v and_o believe_v that_o the_o letter_n of_o the_o scripture_n be_v carnal_a a_o proper_a direct_a answer_n be_v desire_v and_o require_v to_o this_o without_o any_o quibble_n or_o mental_a reservation_n if_o the_o quaker_n be_v indeed_o what_o they_o now_o will_v pretend_v to_o the_o world_n they_o be_v and_o will_v manifest_v themselves_o to_o be_v no_o dissembler_n the_o conclusion_n to_o sum_n up_o all_o in_o short_a and_o to_o conclude_v this_o mess_n and_o medly_n of_o their_o most_o irreconcilable_a contradiction_n and_o irrecoverable_a gulf_n of_o confusion_n in_o which_o they_o have_v plunge_v themselves_o over_o head_n and_o ear_n take_v it_o thus_o sometime_o they_o can_v call_v yea_o and_o positive_o assert_v the_o letter_n of_o the_o scripture_n be_v carnal_a and_o the_o letter_n be_v death_n and_o kill_v but_o their_o own_o pityful_a scribble_n or_o book_n they_o can_v call_v the_o light_n and_o life_n of_o christ_n within_o and_o yet_o to_o go_v round_o again_o at_o other_o time_n they_o tell_v we_o that_o they_o prefer_v the_o bible_n before_o all_o other_o book_n extant_a in_o the_o world_n but_o then_o to_o go_v round_o again_o they_o tell_v we_o without_o except_v one_o that_o their_o write_n and_o book_n be_v give_v forth_o from_o the_o immediate_a eternal_a spirit_n of_o god_n yet_o to_o face_n about_o again_o that_o their_o intention_n and_o principle_n never_o be_v to_o bring_v their_o book_n in_o comparison_n with_o the_o scripture_n but_o yet_o to_o go_v round_o again_o though_o to_o their_o own_o confusion_n the_o same_o man_n have_v give_v we_o to_o understand_v that_o what_o the_o quaker_n speak_v from_o the_o spirit_n of_o truth_n be_v not_o only_o of_o as_o great_a authority_n as_o the_o scripture_n and_o chapter_n be_v but_o great_a and_o the_o quaker_n can_v sometime_o tell_v we_o that_o one_o may_v as_o well_o condemn_v the_o scripture_n to_o be_v burn_v as_o their_o write_n but_o come_v once_o more_o to_o turn_v about_o robin_n hood_n w._n pen_n now_o have_v the_o scripture_n positive_o say_v mr._n keith_n as_o a_o secondary_a rule_n of_o faith_n and_o practice_n and_o yet_o to_o step_v halfway_n back_o again_o and_o janus-like_a look_v two_o of_o the_o spirit_n so_o give_v must_v be_v either_o visible_a or_o invisible_a though_o it_o be_v apparent_a enough_o by_o the_o enumeration_n of_o those_o manifestation_n in_o the_o subsequent_a verse_n that_o the_o apostle_n speak_v of_o visible_a manifestation_n such_o as_o be_v visible_o apparent_a to_o other_o and_o for_o the_o profit_n of_o other_o without_z as_o well_o as_o within_o the_o church_n and_o the_o greek_a word_n 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d which_o the_o apostle_n use_v signify_v plain_o and_o clear_o appear_v open_a bare_a or_o easy_a to_o be_v see_v as_o a_o face_n uncover_v sect._n 3_o but_o let_v the_o quaker_n take_v it_o which_o way_n they_o will_v it_o destroy_v their_o usurp_v title_n and_o vain_a pretence_n above_o other_o who_o they_o condemn_v for_o if_o they_o say_v that_o the_o apostle_n mean_v thereby_o that_o the_o manifestation_n of_o the_o spirit_n which_o he_o speak_v of_o be_v give_v to_o every_o one_o in_o the_o world_n then_o they_o at_o the_o same_o time_n grant_v it_o be_v give_v to_o the_o church_n of_o england_n to_o the_o baptist_n church_n and_o to_o i_o also_o and_o if_o they_o i_o say_v that_o the_o manifestation_n of_o the_o spirit_n be_v visible_a to_o other_o than_o thereby_o they_o grant_v they_o have_v it_o not_o more_o than_o other_o nay_o be_v without_o it_o because_o the_o quaker_n have_v censure_v and_o condemn_v other_o church_n as_o be_v without_o it_o and_o yet_o themselves_o can_v produce_v visible_o no_o more_o manifestation_n of_o the_o spirit_n than_o those_o who_o they_o say_v be_v without_o it_o and_o if_o they_o say_v the_o manifestation_n of_o the_o spirit_n be_v invisible_a to_o other_o then_o at_o the_o same_o time_n they_o grant_v the_o church_n of_o england_n or_o the_o baptist_n church_n may_v have_v it_o though_o they_o may_v not_o know_v it_o or_o can_v see_v it_o for_o how_o shall_v they_o if_o it_o be_v invisible_a sect._n 4._o but_o on_o the_o other_o hand_n if_o they_o say_v these_o word_n of_o the_o apostle_n be_v to_o be_v take_v restrictive_o that_o the_o manifestation_n of_o the_o spirit_n be_v give_v to_o every_o man_n in_o the_o church_n only_o as_o most_o likely_a in_o truth_n it_o be_v as_o the_o word_n be_v in_o the_o present_a tense_n and_o the_o whole_a scope_n of_o the_o chapter_n intimate_v the_o gift_n and_o manifestation_n of_o the_o spirit_n he_o mention_n be_v then_o peculiar_o in_o the_o church_n and_o no_o where_o else_o that_o we_o find_v such_o as_o the_o gift_n of_o healing_n tongue_n etc._n etc._n mention_v in_o the_o very_a next_o verse_n as_o some_o of_o these_o manifestation_n speak_v of_o in_o v_o 7._o then_o this_o of_o the_o church_n at_o corinth_n have_v the_o manifestation_n of_o the_o spirit_n be_v no_o more_o to_o the_o quaker_n than_o to_o the_o pope_n of_o rome_n for_o it_o will_v not_o follow_v that_o because_o the_o church_n at_o corinth_n have_v the_o manifestation_n of_o the_o spirit_n that_o the_o quaker_n church_n must_v now_o have_v it_o nor_o because_o they_o say_v they_o have_v it_o for_o at_o that_o rate_n the_o baptist_n church_n and_o all_z the_o church_n in_o england_n may_v claim_v it_o and_o who_o can_v hinder_v they_o and_o beside_o g.w._n have_v bar_v himself_o of_o that_o and_o plain_o tell_v we_o in_o his_o glory_n of_o christ_n light_n within_o p._n 33._o that_o which_o be_v to_o one_o state_n be_v not_o to_o every_o particular_a state_n and_o condition_n among_o the_o church_n neither_o do_v we_o read_v that_o the_o church_n at_o corinth_n be_v to_o go_v and_o church_n at_o corinth_n that_o the_o manifestation_n of_o the_o spirit_n be_v then_o give_v to_o every_o man_n to_o profit_v withal_o signify_v to_o g.w._n or_o the_o quaker_n here_o they_o be_v not_o the_o church_n at_o corinth_n nor_o can_v they_o produce_v visible_o such_o manifestation_n of_o the_o spirit_n as_o they_o do_v nay_o g.w._n himself_o give_v you_o to_o understand_v such_o visible_a manifestation_n be_v only_o peculiar_a to_o the_o apostle_n time_n thus_o than_o you_o may_v easy_o see_v how_o much_o this_o silly_a quibbler_n be_v beside_o the_o business_n and_o have_v confute_v other_o sect_n viii_o of_o unbeliever_n muggleton_n etc._n etc._n sect._n 1_o g_o w._n p._n 3._o have_v not_o thou_o plain_o employ_v thâ—_n self_n to_o be_v a_o vnbeliever_n who_o want_v such_o a_o certain_a ground_n believe_v the_o quaker_n pretence_n to_o a_o commission_n from_o heaven_n immediate_a revelation_n and_o inspiration_n more_o than_o muggletons_n except_o they_o can_v produce_v somewhat_o considerable_a more_o than_o muggleton_n can_v and_o therefore_o i_o pray_v they_o to_o show_v i_o what_o they_o have_v and_o to_o tell_v i_o but_o this_o why_o i_o may_v and_o ought_v spirit_n of_o light_n however_o i_o can_v and_o do_v assure_v he_o he_o be_v mistake_v and_o as_o ignorant_a of_o one_o as_o he_o confess_v himself_o of_o the_o other_o i_o deny_v all_o prejudice_v g._n may_v have_v no_o occasion_n vain_o to_o boast_v of_o his_o quibble_v undertake_v the_o quakers-quibble_n i_o shall_v endeavour_v to_o enlighten_v he_o where_o he_o be_v wilful_o blind_a and_o show_v he_o where_o his_o real_a fallacy_n be_v instead_o of_o pretend_a plainness_n and_o to_o take_v that_o false_a cover_n from_o he_o and_o vindicate_v the_o baptist_n as_o to_o their_o
