to_o shut_v close_o the_o door_n and_o window_n to_o see_v whether_o the_o room_n be_v light_a this_o i_o have_v preach_v at_o willingham_n or_o to_o this_o effect_n though_o the_o witness_n have_v make_v a_o woeful_a blunder_n about_o it_o sanctification_n be_v no_o evidence_n of_o justification_n i'faith_o and_o its_o effect_n have_v a_o great_a share_n in_o gospel-holiness_n and_o sure_o they_o be_v sign_n of_o justification_n but_o such_o holiness_n as_o they_o plead_v for_o be_v no_o holiness_n and_o therefore_o no_o evidence_n of_o justification_n animadversion_n on_o the_o forego_n head_n it_o be_v remarkable_a accusation_n under_o this_o head_n tend_v to_o support_v these_o two_o follow_a principle_n 1._o that_o divine_a illumination_n be_v not_o of_o the_o essence_n of_o saving-faith_n 2._o to_o over-turn_a the_o faith_n of_o assurance_n or_o to_o set_v up_o one_o that_o be_v not_o know_v in_o the_o scripture_n and_o that_o can_v be_v of_o no_o use_n to_o believer_n but_o i_o shall_v prove_v that_o divine_a illumination_n be_v of_o the_o essence_n of_o saving-faith_n for_o one_a none_o can_v believe_v on_o what_o they_o know_v not_o none_o can_v see_v a_o need_n of_o christ_n nor_o fly_v unto_o he_o but_o they_o who_o eye_n have_v be_v open_v by_o the_o spirit_n to_o see_v the_o beauty_n excellency_n and_o necessity_n of_o christ_n jesus_n therefore_o faith_n be_v not_o a_o blind_a consent_n to_o the_o will_v only_o 2_o as_o the_o spirit_n do_v work_v in_o this_o faith_n he_o be_v call_v the_o spirit_n of_o wisdom_n and_o revelation_n his_o deed_n may_v be_v make_v manifest_a that_o they_o be_v wrought_v of_o god_n joh._n 3._o 21._o so_o then_o they_o that_o bid_v people_n try_v their_o faith_n by_o look_v within_o and_o not_o bid_v they_o at_o that_o time_n look_v to_o christ_n and_o that_o first_o put_v they_o in_o my_o judgement_n upon_o a_o impossible_a test_n arg._n 3._o as_o there_o can_v be_v no_o real_a mark_n and_o 4._o they_o that_o will_v examine_v their_o faith_n whether_o it_o be_v sincere_a by_o mark_n and_o sign_n without_o faith_n in_o the_o exercise_n must_v have_v a_o second_o mark_v to_o know_v the_o may_v from_o thence_o together_o with_o the_o evidence_n of_o faith_n infer_v the_o certainty_n of_o our_o believe_v as_o when_o we_o sensible_o perceive_v our_o love_n to_o christ_n flow_v from_o our_o faith_n in_o he_o we_o may_v thence_o conclude_v we_o have_v the_o faith_n of_o god_n elect_n and_o so_o of_o other_o grace_n but_o perhaps_o this_o be_v but_o seldom_o the_o frame_n of_o a_o believer_n spirit_n and_o yet_o he_o ought_v when_o he_o walk_v in_o the_o dark_a to_o hold_v fast_o his_o confidence_n therefore_o there_o must_v needs_o be_v that_o that_o be_v true_a assurance_n though_o not_o so_o high_a and_o so_o sensible_a as_o this_o and_o one_a i_o find_v in_o scripture_n it_o be_v a_o strong_a and_o constant_a reliance_n upon_o the_o ability_n and_o faithfulness_n of_o christ_n as_o to_o the_o grace_n promise_v this_o you_o have_v instance_a in_o abraham_n faith_n rom._n 4._o 20_o 21._o he_o stagger_v not_o at_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n through_o unbelief_n but_o be_v strong_a in_o faith_n give_v glory_n to_o god_n and_o in_o ver_fw-la 21._o and_o be_v full_o persuade_v that_o what_o he_o have_v promise_v he_o be_v also_o able_a to_o perform_v so_o also_o instance_a in_o the_o faith_n of_o sarah_n heb._n 11._o 11._o through_o faith_n also_o sarah_n herself_o receive_v strength_n to_o conceive_v seed_n and_o be_v deliver_v of_o a_o child_n when_o she_o
