prophet_n endue_v with_o so_o excellent_a a_o light_n of_o the_o knowledge_n of_o god_n word_n and_o holy_a will_n what_o shall_v become_v of_o we_o unless_o the_o lord_n drive_v away_o that_o great_a and_o palpable_a darkness_n which_o we_o have_v in_o our_o affliction_n lest_o that_o it_o darken_v the_o sight_n of_o his_o light_n use_v the_o use_n let_v we_o therefore_o always_o pray_v unto_o the_o lord_n so_o often_o as_o any_o temptation_n do_v trouble_v we_o that_o his_o truth_n may_v shine_v before_o we_o lest_o we_o take_v evil_a course_n run_v astray_o from_o his_o wil._n wherefore_o exceed_a miserable_a but_o the_o wicked_a and_o hypocrite_n have_v none_o of_o all_o these_o although_o then_o their_o mouth_n be_v open_a to_o call_v upon_o god_n yet_o do_v they_o but_o blaspheme_v of_o our_o saviour_n christ_n math._n 6._o where_o your_o treasure_n be_v there_o will_v your_o heart_n be_v also_o such_o man_n will_v lift_v up_o their_o hand_n eye_n and_o voice_n towards_o heaven_n to_o god_n and_o with_o such_o goodly_a green_a leaf_n will_v make_v a_o fair_a flourish_n and_o beautiful_a show_n but_o their_o heart_n and_o affection_n be_v sure_o set_v upon_o earthly_a vain_a vile_a and_o transitory_a thing_n and_o be_v as_o far_o from_o god_n as_o heaven_n and_o earth_n be_v distant_a the_o one_o from_o the_o other_o how_o then_o can_v they_o possible_o in_o faith_n call_v upon_o the_o lord_n that_o their_o prayer_n shall_v be_v hear_v and_o therefore_o they_o fulfil_v the_o say_n of_o the_o prophet_n esay_n chap._n 29.13_o this_o people_n draw_v near_o to_o i_o with_o their_o lip_n but_o their_o heart_n be_v far_o from_o i_o so_o then_o let_v we_o mark_v well_o that_o when_o god_n say_v that_o he_o will_v hear_v the_o prayer_n of_o all_o they_o that_o call_v upon_o he_o he_o mean_v that_o their_o prayer_n must_v proceed_v from_o faith_n and_o we_o must_v bethink_v ourselves_o well_o beforehand_o of_o his_o promise_n thereby_o to_o be_v encourage_v to_o come_v unto_o he_o yet_o we_o must_v also_o acknowledge_v ourselves_o to_o be_v as_o we_o sure_o be_v of_o ourselves_o forlorn_a damnable_a and_o destitute_a of_o all_o goodness_n and_o this_o we_o must_v be_v thorough_o persuade_v of_o to_o the_o end_n that_o we_o may_v resort_v to_o the_o fountain_n of_o his_o goodness_n and_o grace_n now_o we_o see_v there_o be_v no_o cause_n why_o we_o shall_v think_v it_o strange_a that_o god_n put_v hypocrite_n &_o wicked_a man_n back_o when_o they_o come_v to_o he_o for_o they_o come_v not_o with_o a_o willing_a mind_n nor_o a_o pure_a affection_n but_o they_o will_v willing_o shun_v and_o avoid_v his_o hand_n if_o it_o be_v possible_a howbeit_o see_v that_o they_o by_o no_o mean_n possible_a that_o they_o can_v devise_v can_v shift_v themselves_o from_o he_o they_o come_v to_o he_o by_o compulsion_n similitude_n a_o similitude_n for_o even_o as_o a_o thief_n a_o murderer_n or_o any_o other_o great_a malefactor_n be_v shut_v up_o in_o prison_n will_v not_o willing_o appear_v before_o the_o judge_n but_o will_v wish_v in_o his_o heart_n that_o rather_o there_o be_v none_o at_o all_o but_o see_v they_o be_v and_o must_v be_v full_a sore_n against_o their_o will_n that_o sin_n may_v be_v punish_v and_o virtue_n reward_v they_o then_o humble_o entreat_v he_o to_o show_v mercy_n to_o they_o even_o so_o the_o wicked_a and_o hypocrite_n wish_v in_o their_o heart_n there_o be_v no_o god_n but_o see_v he_o be_v and_o will_v be_v they_o repair_v to_o he_o not_o as_o be_v persuade_v of_o he_o as_o of_o a_o love_a and_o merciful_a father_n but_o as_o a_o severe_a judge_n but_o what_o profit_v that_o therefore_o when_o we_o pray_v unto_o god_n let_v we_o offer_v unto_o he_o free_a heart_a sacrifice_n let_v we_o have_v access_n to_o he_o with_o willing_a mind_n assure_v ourselves_o that_o without_o he_o we_o be_v destitute_a of_o all_o thing_n we_o want_v &_o of_o all_o that_o appertain_v to_o we_o and_o they_o so_o then_o we_o can_v but_o be_v experience_v of_o his_o grace_n in_o the_o time_n of_o prosperity_n &_o know_v that_o we_o be_v maintain_v by_o the_o same_o but_o yet_o have_v we_o not_o so_o certain_a and_o manifest_a experience_n of_o his_o favour_n and_o help_v in_o prosperity_n as_o in_o adversity_n for_o whensoever_o misery_n pinch_v we_o and_o death_n threaten_v we_o we_o can_v discern_v that_o we_o be_v wretched_a forlorn_a creature_n if_o god_n shall_v not_o step_v before_o we_o to_o rescue_v us._n and_o to_o speak_v the_o truth_n more_o large_o how_o great_a and_o grievous_a be_v the_o sorrow_n trouble_n anguish_n and_o grief_n of_o our_o soul_n if_o we_o have_v not_o this_o sweet_a consideration_n the_o see_v then_o a_o evident_a demonstration_n that_o god_n also_o that_o we_o exercise_v prayer_n see_v that_o we_o can_v assure_v ourselves_o of_o the_o cause_n without_o the_o effect_n let_v we_o therefore_o according_a to_o his_o commandment_n in_o our_o affliction_n and_o necessity_n seek_v to_o god_n in_o the_o name_n of_o jesus_n christ_n for_o succour_n by_o continual_a prayer_n and_o call_v upon_o his_o name_n let_v we_o call_v upon_o he_o in_o the_o day_n time_n and_o in_o the_o night_n season_n let_v we_o pour_v out_o our_o complaint_n before_o he_o daily_a and_o hourly_a let_v we_o make_v our_o prayer_n unto_o he_o although_o we_o feel_v ourselves_o nothing_o release_v but_o oftentimes_o worse_o &_o worse_o which_o make_v we_o oftentimes_o almost_o to_o doubt_v of_o his_o goodness_n psa_fw-la 77._o that_o he_o do_v reject_v and_o give_v no_o heed_n unto_o they_o whereby_o we_o almost_o think_v it_o in_o vain_a to_o pray_v see_v that_o we_o find_v no_o release_n but_o this_o be_v our_o weakness_n and_o frailty_n of_o our_o flesh_n which_o will_v not_o willing_o be_v subdue_v to_o the_o spirit_n which_o let_v we_o beseech_v the_o lord_n to_o forgive_v we_o for_o he_o see_v our_o conflict_n and_o look_v upon_o our_o continual_a sigh_n and_o petition_n but_o he_o defer_v and_o prolong_v his_o help_n the_o long_o and_o do_v not_o at_o the_o first_o help_v we_o to_o this_o end_n that_o we_o may_v see_v full_o our_o own_o weakness_n learn_v by_o little_a and_o little_a to_o subdue_v our_o rebellion_n to_o his_o gracious_a will_n who_o know_v better_a what_o be_v meet_v for_o we_o than_o we_o for_o ourselves_o therefore_o let_v we_o beseech_v he_o to_o strengthen_v we_o by_o his_o holy_a spirit_n that_o we_o may_v still_o persevere_v and_o continue_v in_o prayer_n and_o with_o long_a desire_n patient_o wait_v for_o he_o be_v full_o assure_v that_o although_o it_o present_o appear_v not_o yet_o he_o be_v always_o present_a with_o we_o and_o hear_v our_o sigh_n and_o complaint_n and_o will_v when_o help_n and_o assistance_n until_o such_o time_n it_o shall_v please_v his_o goodness_n to_o send_v we_o full_a deliverance_n although_o we_o feel_v ourselves_o through_o the_o malice_n of_o satan_n very_o unwilling_a to_o prayer_n see_v that_o we_o do_v not_o full_o perceive_v they_o to_o be_v hear_v but_o go_v on_o still_o languish_v in_o our_o sorrow_n as_o though_o god_n have_v no_o care_n of_o us._n yet_o this_o our_o dulness_n let_v we_o entreat_v our_o merciful_a father_n to_o pardon_v in_o we_o and_o grant_v that_o we_o may_v be_v raise_v up_o and_o pray_v for_o aid_n and_o relief_n
