and_o this_o present_a estate_n though_o it_o be_v whole_o vain_a in_o reference_n to_o we_o as_o we_o now_o be_v yet_o it_o can_v be_v at_o all_o vain_a in_o reference_n to_o that_o but_o that_o which_o be_v perfect_a must_v of_o necessity_n order_v every_o thing_n perfect_o to_o its_o end_n so_o that_o nothing_o be_v lose_v not_o any_o one_o motion_n of_o any_o creature_n in_o any_o kind_n now_o this_o be_v most_o evident_a that_o though_o all_o man_n almost_o expect_v salvation_n yet_o the_o attainment_n of_o it_o will_v be_v very_o rare_a the_o common_a path_n of_o heathenish_a manner_n it_o be_v to_o act_v christian_n common_o do_v not_o understand_v what_o they_o do_v when_o they_o buckle_v to_o this_o duty_n nor_o how_o pure_o and_o firm_o this_o affection_n must_v move_v notwithstanding_o all_o manner_n of_o discouragement_n from_o they_o we_o love_v which_o can_v but_o cause_v they_o much_o to_o falter_v in_o the_o performance_n of_o it_o 2._o be_v work_v up_o thy_o heart_n to_o it_o daily_o be_v work_v it_o up_o to_o a_o spiritual_a love_n be_v work_v spiritual_a ground_n into_o thy_o heart_n that_o thy_o spirit_n may_v be_v engage_v and_o move_v spiritual_o our_o own_o weakness_n without_o a_o practical_a experiment_n but_o therefore_o god_n put_v we_o continual_o upon_o endeavour_v ourselves_o because_o we_o forget_v how_o weak_a and_o unable_a we_o be_v to_o do_v any_o thing_n any_o long_a than_o we_o find_v it_o in_o our_o utmost_a strive_n go_v therefore_o to_o god_n who_o have_v promise_v not_o only_o to_o write_v his_o law_n in_o our_o heart_n but_o to_o cause_v we_o to_o walk_v in_o his_o way_n what_o ever_o way_n of_o god_n there_o be_v god_n will_v not_o only_o write_v the_o law_n of_o it_o in_o the_o heart_n of_o his_o people_n but_o he_o will_v make_v they_o walk_v in_o it_o he_o will_v put_v such_o affection_n and_o strength_n into_o they_o that_o they_o shall_v not_o be_v able_a to_o forbear_v walk_v therein_o quest_n but_o be_v there_o no_o help_n which_o may_v further_o i_o herein_o those_o which_o be_v skilful_o practical_a know_v how_o to_o lead_v another_o into_o that_o path_n wherein_o they_o themselves_o have_v walk_v if_o you_o have_v meet_v with_o any_o knowledge_n or_o experience_n in_o this_o kind_n o_o do_v not_o hide_v it_o from_o we_o but_o help_v we_o a_o little_a in_o this_o tract_n which_o be_v so_o auk_n and_o difficult_a to_o the_o spirit_n of_o man_n ans_fw-fr what_o i_o have_v find_v most_o beneficial_a unto_o and_o powerful_a with_o myself_o herein_o i_o shall_v very_o willing_o impart_v unto_o you_o in_o who_o this_o desire_n be_v kindle_v therefore_o from_o my_o own_o proof_n and_o experience_n i_o shall_v commend_v unto_o you_o these_o four_o help_n 1._o will_v you_o love_v the_o saint_n as_o christ_n have_v love_v both_o they_o and_o you_o then_o in_o the_o first_o place_n look_v upon_o they_o in_o christ_n and_o there_o thou_o shall_v ever_o see_v they_o full_a spiritual_a eye_n be_v always_o thus_o fasten_v upon_o they_o a_o pure_a spiritual_a heart_n will_v always_o love_v they_o 2._o expect_v all_o manner_n of_o weakness_n and_o imperfection_n in_o they_o look_v for_o distemper_n upon_o they_o and_o all_o manner_n of_o evil_n break_v forth_o and_o take_v its_o swinge_n in_o they_o so_o far_o as_o god_n leave_v they_o do_v thou_o not_o find_v it_o so_o in_o thy_o own_o heart_n this_o be_v another_o mean_n whereby_o god_n strengthen_v his_o heart_n in_o love_v we_o he_o expect_v no_o manner_n of_o good_a from_o we_o but_o what_o he_o himself_o work_v in_o we_o he_o expect_v all_o manner_n of_o evil_n and_o distemper_n which_o he_o himself_o do_v not_o prevent_v and_o all_o the_o evil_a that_o issue_v forth_o he_o attribute_v not_o to_o we_o but_o to_o sin_n that_o dwell_v in_o we_o why_o go_v thou_o and_o do_v likewise_o and_o thou_o will_v love_v as_o god_n love_v paul_n do_v thus_o concern_v himself_o the_o good_a i_o will_v do_v i_o can_v nor_o avoid_v the_o evil_n which_o i_o will_v not_o do_v but_o what_o i_o hate_v that_o do_v i_o oh_o wretched_a man_n etc._n etc._n i_o can_v expect_v no_o good_a from_o myself_o i_o can_v hinder_v no_o evil_a in_o myself_o but_o yet_o it_o be_v not_o i_o but_o sin_n that_o dwell_v in_o i_o it_o be_v the_o unlovely_a part_n that_o which_o i_o be_o to_o hate_v not_o that_o which_o i_o be_o to_o love_v which_o do_v this_o there_o be_v two_o great_a fault_n in_o we_o we_o do_v not_o labour_n enough_o to_o be_v holy_a ourselves_o and_o we_o expect_v it_o too_o much_o in_o other_o if_o we_o do_v look_v for_o holiness_n more_o in_o our_o own_o heart_n and_o expect_v it_o less_o in_o other_o this_o duty_n will_v be_v far_o easy_a than_o it_o be_v but_o when_o we_o expect_v much_o what_o ever_o fall_v short_a of_o our_o expectation_n displease_v we_o and_o
will_v not_o a_o natural_a spirit_n thorough_o sensible_a do_v to_o avoid_v its_o perfect_a misery_n and_o attain_v its_o perfect_a life_n rest_n and_o happiness_n again_o do_v thou_o know_v how_o near_o thou_o may_v approach_v to_o the_o truth_n and_o yet_o remain_v short_a of_o it_o how_o far_o thou_o may_v walk_v in_o a_o way_n like_o the_o strait_a way_n and_o yet_o it_o not_o prove_v the_o way_n how_o high_a thou_o may_v ascend_v on_o the_o ladder_n which_o seem_o to_o thou_o lead_v up_o to_o heaven_n and_o yet_o that_o not_o prove_v the_o ladder_n there_o be_v no_o christ_n can_v save_v but_o the_o lord_n anoint_v nor_o can_v he_o save_v any_o otherwise_o then_o by_o his_o anoint_v thou_o in_o the_o name_n and_o with_o the_o nature_n of_o the_o lord_n he_o shall_v save_v because_o of_o the_o anoint_v thou_o may_v have_v all_o the_o similitude_n of_o truth_n and_o salvation_n in_o every_o kind_n and_o yet_o not_o one_o spark_n of_o truth_n in_o any_o kind_n thou_o may_v have_v light_n great_a light_n which_o thou_o may_v confident_o believe_v to_o be_v the_o light_n of_o the_o lord_n and_o yet_o it_o may_v not_o prove_v so_o thou_o may_v have_v fresh_a and_o vigorous_a life_n and_o yet_o not_o that_o life_n prove_v the_o life_n of_o the_o spirit_n neither_o and_o if_o so_o than_o all_o the_o motion_n of_o this_o life_n all_o thy_o step_n in_o this_o light_n will_v not_o lead_v thou_o towards_o but_o further_a from_o the_o lord_n thou_o may_v offer_v sacrifice_n and_o yet_o those_o sacrifice_n not_o be_v the_o lord_n though_o in_o thy_o appearance_n institute_v by_o he_o and_o by_o thou_o dedicate_v to_o he_o thou_o may_v season_v they_o with_o salt_n and_o offer_v they_o up_o with_o fire_n on_o that_o which_o thou_o take_v to_o be_v more_o religion_n in_o he_o than_o the_o spirit_n of_o man_n by_o serious_a consideration_n with_o himself_o and_o by_o solid_a meditation_n on_o the_o scripture_n may_v attain_v to_o this_o man_n find_v a_o necessity_n of_o believe_a and_o just_a ground_n for_o it_o can_v but_o believe_v can_v but_o love_n can_v but_o strive_v after_o obedience_n in_o the_o midst_n of_o all_o encumbrance_n
