to_o man_n that_o there_o be_v some_o sweetness_n and_o pleasure_n in_o the_o enjoyment_n of_o creature-comfort_n for_o by_o the_o sweetness_n of_o the_o light_n and_o pleasantness_n for_o behold_v the_o sun_n be_v mean_v all_o the_o comfort_n of_o this_o present_a life_n which_o make_v it_o sweet_a and_o pleasant_a next_o upon_o supposition_n that_o man_n have_v never_o so_o long_a a_o life_n and_o the_o same_o never_o so_o much_o sweeten_v by_o the_o enjoyment_n of_o creature-comfort_n he_o press_v upon_o they_o that_o they_o shall_v remember_v death_n as_o certain_o abide_v they_o and_o consequent_o prepare_v for_o it_o for_o by_o the_o day_n of_o darkness_n which_o be_v many_o be_v chief_o mean_v the_o state_n of_o death_n so_o call_v because_o under_o it_o man_n be_v deprive_v of_o those_o earthly_a comfort_n which_o be_v set_v orth_o by_o the_o pleasantness_n of_o the_o light_n and_o sweetness_n of_o behold_v the_o sun_n and_o by_o the_o same_o also_o may_v be_v understand_v the_o eternity_n of_o the_o wicked_n torment_n because_o that_o be_v most_o fit_o signify_v by_o the_o many_o day_n of_o darkness_n and_o the_o consideration_n thereof_o be_v most_o powerful_a to_o stir_v up_o man_n to_o prepare_v for_o death_n three_o he_o pass_v sentence_n upon_o those_o earthly_a comfort_n which_o so_o take_v up_o the_o heart_n of_o man_n that_o thought_n of_o death_n be_v sun_n 2._o though_o the_o choice_a of_o earthly_a comfort_n be_v to_o be_v undervalue_v in_o comparison_n of_o those_o that_o be_v spiritual_a and_o heavenly_a and_o as_o man_n satisfy_v themselves_o with_o they_o for_o their_o portion_n yet_o in_o themselves_o and_o in_o reference_n to_o the_o use_n which_o man_n shall_v make_v of_o they_o viz_o to_o be_v thereby_o encourage_v in_o his_o master_n service_n and_o induce_v to_o seek_v after_o comfort_n of_o a_o better_a nature_n they_o be_v to_o be_v esteem_v of_o and_o commend_v for_o so_o do_v solomon_n here_o commend_v all_o lawful_a outward_a comfort_n while_o he_o say_v true_o the_o light_n be_v sweet_a and_o a_o pleasant_a thing_n it_o be_v for_o the_o eye_n to_o behold_v the_o sun_n 3._o when_o the_o lord_n prolong_v a_o man_n life_n and_o give_v he_o many_o outward_a comfort_n and_o few_o cross_n along_o the_o same_o he_o be_v then_o very_a ready_a to_o forget_v death_n and_o eternity_n and_o neglect_v to_o prepare_v for_o they_o and_o the_o near_o he_o draw_v towards_o they_o to_o be_v the_o more_o unmindful_a of_o they_o therefore_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n find_v it_o necessary_a to_o mind_n man_n in_o this_o case_n consider_v what_o happiness_n the_o creature_n and_o humane_a endeavour_n about_o they_o can_v yield_v still_o put_v the_o same_o in_o the_o balance_n with_o what_o be_v to_o be_v have_v in_o communion_n with_o the_o lord_n that_o so_o compare_v christ_n the_o true_a appletree_n with_o the_o tree_n of_o the_o wood_n his_o fruit_n may_v be_v the_o sweet_a to_o their_o taste_n and_o compare_v the_o excellent_a knowledge_n of_o he_o with_o what_o may_v be_v know_v and_o enjoy_v of_o other_o thing_n these_o other_o thing_n may_v become_v dross_n and_o dung_n in_o their_o esteem_n for_o we_o may_v safe_o consider_v solomon_n here_o express_v himself_o to_o have_v lay_v out_o his_o wit_n and_o pain_n to_o see_v what_o happiness_n be_v to_o be_v have_v in_o the_o creature_n that_o so_o he_o may_v the_o more_o hearty_o cleave_v unto_o that_o better_a part_n which_o he_o have_v choose_v and_o the_o more_o effectual_o convince_v all_o other_o of_o their_o folly_n in_o may_v be_v see_v he_o may_v be_v bring_v to_o see_v all_o vanity_n and_o himself_o the_o great_a vanity_n of_o all_o other_o in_o that_o he_o mistake_v the_o right_a way_n to_o his_o true_a happiness_n for_o when_o solomon_n have_v see_v all_o thing_n under_o the_o sun_n he_o conclude_v all_o be_v vanity_n 14._o if_o man_n have_v only_o disappointment_n of_o their_o hope_n to_o look_v or_o gnaw_v away_o of_o the_o spirit_n or_o feed_v upon_o the_o wind_n verse_n xv._o that_o which_o be_v crooked_a can_v be_v make_v straight_o and_o that_o which_o be_v want_v can_v be_v number_v these_o word_n contain_v the_o eight_o argument_n to_o prove_v that_o happiness_n can_v be_v have_v in_o thing_n earthly_a and_o particular_o that_o man_n natural_a wit_n stretch_v to_o the_o outmost_a in_o the_o study_n of_o all_o thing_n under_o the_o sun_n for_o attain_v thereto_o can_v bring_v he_o nothing_o but_o disappointment_n and_o vexation_n the_o argument_n be_v take_v from_o the_o impotency_n and_o insufficiency_n of_o all_o the_o creature_n and_o of_o all_o humane_a endeavour_n about_o they_o to_o restore_v man_n to_o that_o primitive_a integrity_n of_o his_o nature_n
