god_n where_o he_o shall_v find_v they_o all_o i_o be_o a_o stranger_n in_o the_o earth_n hide_v not_o thy_o commandment_n from_o i_o 4._o there_o be_v a_o hide_v of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n when_o mean_n to_o hear_v it_o explain_v by_o preacher_n be_v want_v and_o there_o be_v a_o hide_v of_o the_o comfortable_a and_o lively_a light_n of_o the_o spirit_n who_o must_v quicken_v the_o word_n unto_o we_o and_o from_o both_o those_o evil_n may_v we_o and_o shall_v we_o pray_v to_o be_v save_v hide_v not_o thy_o commandment_n from_o i_o 5._o albeit_o the_o godly_a be_v the_o dear_a soul_n estimation_n of_o his_o own_o presence_n and_o furnish_v work_n in_o the_o mean_a time_n to_o their_o faith_n my_o heart_n break_v for_o the_o longing_n which_o it_o have_v unto_o thy_o judgement_n 6._o it_o be_v not_o every_o faint_a and_o cold_a wish_n which_o make_v a_o believer_n profit_n in_o god_n school_n there_o must_v be_v some_o heat_n and_o earnestness_n in_o holy_a desire_n and_o this_o affection_n as_o it_o may_v not_o be_v cold_a so_o neither_o must_v it_o be_v fleet_v but_o constant_a my_o heart_n break_v for_o the_o longing_n which_o it_o have_v at_o all_o time_n 7._o these_o be_v proud_a man_n before_o god_n who_o be_v not_o penitent_a for_o their_o sin_n and_o be_v not_o subject_v to_o his_o obedience_n for_o so_o be_v they_o here_o call_v 8._o the_o word_n of_o god_n condemn_v the_o proud_a and_o pronounce_v a_o curse_n upon_o they_o so_o long_o as_o they_o continue_v proud_a and_o impenitent_a
thou_o have_v rebuke_v the_o proud_a that_o be_v curse_v 9_o to_o dare_v to_o wander_v after_o a_o man_n own_o will_n and_o go_v away_o from_o the_o direction_n which_o god_n give_v we_o be_v pride_n indeed_o and_o a_o bold_a hazard_n where_o god_n command_v to_o fear_v the_o proud_a err_v from_o thy_o commandment_n vers._n 22._o remove_v from_o i_o reproach_n and_o contempt_n for_o i_o have_v keep_v thy_o testimony_n 23._o prince_n also_o do_v sit_v and_o speak_v against_o i_o but_o thy_o servant_n do_v meditate_v in_o thy_o statute_n 24._o thy_o testimony_n also_o be_v my_o delight_n and_o my_o counsellor_n he_o pray_v also_o to_o be_v clear_v in_o his_o innocency_n and_o that_o his_o reproach_n may_v be_v remove_v and_o give_v three_o reason_n thereof_o one_o be_v because_o reproach_n and_o contempt_n 2._o a_o good_a conscience_n be_v a_o ground_n of_o comfort_n in_o the_o case_n of_o be_v reproach_v and_o a_o ground_n of_o confidence_n to_o seek_v of_o god_n relief_n from_o it_o remove_v contempt_n for_o i_o have_v keep_v thy_o testimony_n 3._o it_o be_v not_o strange_a to_o see_v not_o only_o the_o rascal_n multitude_n but_o also_o judge_n and_o ruler_n who_o shall_v defend_v the_o godly_a to_o be_v their_o enemy_n prince_n also_o do_v sit_v and_o speak_v against_o i_o 4._o trouble_n will_v try_v man_n whether_o they_o do_v fear_n god_n or_o man_n most_o god_n word_n because_o he_o have_v lay_v open_a before_o god_n all_o his_o own_o course_n and_o confess_v what_o he_o know_v of_o his_o own_o way_n whence_o learn_v 1._o when_o we_o be_v desert_v in_o the_o point_n of_o consolation_n it_o be_v wisdom_n to_o search_v our_o way_n if_o any_o thing_n in_o it_o possible_o have_v grieve_v god_n spirit_n and_o what_o we_o find_v right_a or_o wrong_v or_o doubtful_a it_o be_v our_o wisdom_n to_o lay_v it_o out_o before_o the_o lord_n in_o sincerity_n as_o here_o i_o have_v declare_v my_o way_n 2._o as_o we_o have_v find_v audience_n and_o comfort_n after_o confession_n in_o former_a time_n so_o may_v we_o expect_v to_o find_v the_o like_a again_o i_o have_v declare_v my_o way_n and_o thou_o hear_v i_o 3._o the_o end_n of_o our_o exercise_n be_v to_o make_v we_o study_v to_o walk_v with_o god_n more_o holy_o and_o to_o feel_v his_o direction_n and_o guide_v more_o effectual_o teach_v i_o thy_o statute_n vers._n 27._o make_v i_o to_o understand_v the_o way_n of_o thy_o precept_n so_o shall_v i_o talk_v of_o thy_o wondrous_a work_n a_o three_o petition_n be_v for_o increase_v of_o understanding_n of_o the_o mystery_n of_o god_n word_n that_o thereby_o he_o may_v edify_v other_o whence_o learn_v 1._o great_a be_v our_o natural_a blindness_n in_o god_n matter_n and_o the_o disease_n be_v obstinate_a and_o therefore_o the_o petition_n for_o light_n be_v so_o much_o the_o more_o to_o be_v insist_v in_o make_v i_o to_o understand_v 2._o it_o be_v not_o sufficient_a to_o know_v the_o meaning_n of_o the_o word_n except_o we_o know_v also_o the_o way_n of_o practise_v it_o prudent_o make_v i_o to_o understand_v the_o way_n of_o thy_o precept_n 3._o desire_v of_o knowledge_n shall_v not_o be_v for_o satisfy_v of_o curiosity_n or_o for_o ostentation_n or_o for_o worldly_a gain_n but_o to_o edify_v ourselves_o and_o other_o in_o wisdom_n so_o shall_v i_o talk_v of_o thy_o work_n 4._o it_o be_v good_a first_o to_o understand_v and_o then_o to_o talk_v of_o and_o to_o express_v truth_n former_o meditate_a and_o digest_v as_o the_o order_n of_o these_o two_o do_v teach_v we_o 5._o the_o work_n of_o creation_n redemption_n and_o providence_n either_o set_v down_o in_o scripture_n or_o observe_v in_o our_o own_o experience_n do_v transcend_v our_o capacity_n and_o can_v but_o draw_v admiration_n from_o they_o that_o see_v they_o well_o i_o shall_v talk_v of_o thy_o wondrous_a work_n ver._n 28._o my_o soul_n melt_v for_o heaviness_n strengthen_v thou_o i_o according_a unto_o thy_o word_n a_o four_o petition_n be_v for_o strength_n and_o consolation_n in_o his_o felt_n faint_v whence_o learn_v 1._o the_o lord_n child_n do_v find_v supernatural_a both_o joy_n and_o sorrow_n which_o the_o natural_a man_n who_o want_v experience_n of_o spiritual_a exercise_n do_v not_o understand_v as_o this_o expression_n show_v my_o soul_n melt_v for_o heaviness_n 2._o no_o natural_a mean_n can_v be_v a_o spiritual_a exercise_n do_v give_v unto_o the_o saint_n the_o clear_a discern_v of_o their_o own_o weakness_n and_o need_v of_o support_n from_o god_n my_o heart_n melt_v strengthen_v thou_o i_o 4._o whatsoever_o the_o believer_n need_v god_n do_v by_o the_o word_n supply_v unto_o he_o as_o light_v that_o he_o may_v not_o wander_v life_n that_o he_o die_v not_o comfort_n that_o he_o saint_n not_o and_o strength_n that_o he_o fall_v not_o strengthen_v i_o according_a to_o thy_o word_n ver._n 29._o remove_v from_o i_o the_o way_n of_o lie_v and_o grant_v i_o thy_o law_n gracious_o a_o five_o petition_n be_v to_o be_v free_v from_o the_o course_n of_o sin_v in_o general_a and_o from_o the_o course_n of_o lie_v in_o particular_a that_o so_o he_o may_v neither_o deceive_v other_o nor_o be_v deceive_v himself_o but_o direct_v by_o god_n law_n which_o can_v deceive_v no_o man_n whence_o learn_v 1._o all_o sinful_a course_n in_o life_n or_o religion_n be_v all_o way_n of_o lie_v because_o there_o be_v no_o way_n to_o persevere_v except_o in_o the_o sense_n of_o our_o weakness_n and_o faith_n of_o god_n goodness_n we_o shall_v call_v on_o god_n to_o save_v we_o who_o will_v not_o suffer_v we_o to_o be_v confound_v o_o lord_n put_v i_o not_o to_o shame_v 6._o the_o child_n of_o god_n be_v subject_a to_o bondage_n of_o spirit_n even_o after_o regeneration_n in_o sundry_a case_n especial_o when_o god_n bring_v trouble_n upon_o he_o hide_v his_o comfort_n from_o he_o and_o let_v forth_o appearance_n of_o wrath_n upon_o he_o as_o the_o straiten_n of_o david_n heart_n here_o do_v import_v 7._o as_o when_o a_o man_n spirit_n be_v in_o bond_n hardly_o can_v he_o walk_v in_o god_n service_n cheerful_o so_o when_o god_n show_v his_o countenance_n and_o comfort_v a_o man_n than_o all_o god_n service_n be_v easy_a i_o will_v run_v the_o way_n of_o thy_o commandment_n when_o thou_o have_v enlarge_v my_o heart_n 8._o when_o the_o lord_n give_v large_a comfort_n and_o lose_v a_o man_n affection_n from_o the_o spirit_n of_o bondage_n he_o use_v to_o give_v also_o large_a measure_n of_o strength_n and_o activity_n in_o his_o service_n albeit_o not_o so_o large_a as_o the_o man_n affection_n be_v i_o will_v run_v the_o way_n of_o thy_o commandment_n when_o thou_o have_v enlarge_v my_o heart_n he_o vers._n 33._o teach_v i_o o_o lord_n the_o way_n of_o thy_o statute_n and_o i_o shall_v keep_v it_o unto_o the_o end_n in_o this_o section_n there_o be_v eight_o petition_n according_a to_o the_o number_n of_o the_o verse_n from_o the_o first_o learn_v 1._o the_o narrow_a way_n of_o god_n obedience_n be_v hard_o to_o be_v find_v hardly_o keep_v and_o easy_o mistake_v except_o god_n do_v teach_v we_o daily_o by_o his_o spirit_n what_o he_o do_v at_o any_o time_n teach_v we_o by_o his_o word_n and_o therefore_o we_o have_v need_v again_o and_o again_o to_o pray_v teach_v i_o o_o lord_n the_o way_n of_o thy_o statute_n 2._o as_o the_o lord_n require_v our_o perseverance_n in_o his_o service_n so_o our_o perseverance_n depend_v on_o his_o continue_a direction_n and_o assistance_n which_o the_o believer_n and_o daily_a supplicant_n for_o grace_n may_v promise_v to_o himself_o in_o god_n name_n teach_v i_o o_o lord_n the_o way_n of_o thy_o statute_n and_o i_o shall_v keep_v it_o to_o the_o end_n vers._n 34._o give_v i_o understanding_n and_o i_o shall_v keep_v thy_o law_n yea_o i_o shall_v observe_v it_o with_o my_o whole_a heart_n from_o the_o second_o petition_n learn_v 1._o there_o be_v no_o true_a wisdom_n except_o by_o the_o knowledge_n of_o god_n will_v reveal_v in_o scripture_n and_o apply_v by_o he_o and_o this_o we_o shall_v always_o pray_v for_o give_v i_o understanding_n 2._o where_o god_n become_v teacher_n the_o disciple_n may_v promise_v obedience_n give_v i_o understanding_n and_o i_o shall_v keep_v thy_o law_n 3._o as_o no_o service_n please_v god_n but_o that_o which_o a_o man_n desire_v at_o least_o to_o do_v hearty_o so_o he_o that_o purpose_v to_o persevere_v must_v purpose_v also_o to_o serve_v god_n affectionate_o yea_o i_o shall_v observe_v it_o with_o my_o whole_a heart_n vers._n 35._o make_v i_o to_o go_v in_o the_o path_n of_o thy_o commandment_n for_o therein_o do_v i_o delight_v from_o the_o three_o petition_n learn_v 1._o because_o there_o be_v innumerable_a by-path_n from_o terror_n and_o allurement_n without_o to_o make_v we_o decline_v from_o the_o obedience_n of_o god_n and_o we_o of_o ourselves_o be_v both_o weak_a and_o subject_a to_o error_n within_o we_o therefore_o shall_v we_o be_v the_o more_o instant_a in_o prayer_n make_v i_o to_o go_v in_o the_o path_n of_o thy_o commandment_n 2._o as_o it_o be_v a_o fair_a grace_n of_o god_n to_o have_v pleasure_n and_o physician_n to_o heal_v it_o incline_v my_o heart_n unto_o thy_o testimony_n 2._o the_o heart_n can_v want_v some_o object_n whereunto_o it_o must_v cleave_v a_o man_n must_v love_v something_o and_o if_o the_o heart_n be_v not_o set_v on_o thing_n spiritual_a and_o heavenly_a it_o will_v not_o fail_v to_o pitch_v upon_o thing_n base_a and_o earthly_a as_o here_o be_v insinuate_v by_o opposition_n
