their_o own_o natural_a and_o new_a incomme_n sinfulness_n p._n but_o believe_v i_o brother_n so_o long_o as_o man_n hold_v with_o flesh_n they_o will_v care_v for_o thing_n belong_v to_o the_o flesh_n and_o sin_n shall_v execute_v his_o tyranny_n over_o they_o contrariwyse_o they_o that_o hold_v with_o the_o spirit_n will_v be_v spiritual_a mind_v and_o because_o god_n spirit_n reign_v in_o they_o they_o will_v also_o delight_v in_o spiritual_a thing_n as_o who_o intentes_fw-la and_o indever_n be_v all_o guide_v by_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o therefore_o tend_v to_o god_n glory_n think_v you_o that_o the_o tyranny_n of_o sin_n be_v great_a than_o the_o may_v efficacy_n and_o inwardwoork_v power_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n no_o but_o assure_v yourselves_o of_o this_o that_o if_o the_o spirit_n of_o he_o which_o raise_v up_o christ_n from_o death_n be_v in_o you_o he_o which_o raise_v up_o christ_n from_o death_n will_v also_o call_v again_o your_o mortal_a body_n into_o a_o life_n beseem_v your_o regeneration_n by_o his_o spirit_n which_o dwell_v in_o you_o wherefore_o as_o many_o of_o you_o as_o profess_v yourselves_o to_o be_v christian_n i_o beseech_v you_o all_o lay_v up_o these_o thing_n deep_o in_o your_o mind_n that_o when_o we_o be_v once_o justify_v sanctify_a regenerate_v &_o endue_v with_o christ_n spirit_n we_o be_v altogether_o debtor_n not_o to_o the_o flesh_n to_o live_v after_o the_o like_n of_o the_o flesh_n &_o to_o obey_v the_o corruptnes_n thereof_o but_o rather_o to_o the_o spirit_n to_o indever_n to_o obey_v he_o in_o all_o thing_n r._n be_v there_o so_o great_a peril_n in_o the_o not_o know_v &_o in_o the_o omit_v of_o the_o thing_n p._n yea_o yearly_o and_o of_o all_o peril_n it_o be_v the_o great_a for_o if_o you_o live_v after_o the_o like_n of_o the_o flesh_n you_o shall_v sure_o die_v but_o if_o that_o by_o the_o spirit_n you_o vanquishe_v the_o do_n work_n device_n desire_n &_o in_o dever_n of_o the_o flesh_n &_o nor_o yield_v your_o member_n as_o instrument_n of_o all_o naughtiness_n apply_v to_o sin_v but_o rather_o clean_a contrary_n apply_v yourselves_o to_o god_n as_o folk_n rise_v again_o from_o the_o dead_a and_o yield_v you_o your_o member_n unto_o he_o as_o instrument_n of_o righteousness_n r._n these_o thing_n match_v together_o ought_v both_o to_o fray_v our_o mind_n from_o sin_v &_o also_o to_o inflame_v they_o with_o most_o earnest_a desire_n &_o indever_n to_o live_v well_o &_o bless_o for_o what_o be_v more_o shameful_a than_o to_o be_v slave_n of_o lust_n contrariwise_o what_o be_v few_o word_n for_o sin_n reign_v not_o over_o those_o that_o be_v under_o grace_n but_o over_o those_o that_o be_v under_o the_o law_n but_o now_o that_o you_o be_v justify_v you_o be_v not_o under_o the_o law_n but_o under_o grace_n r._n many_o man_n seem_v to_o be_v like_o spider_n turn_v all_o thing_n into_o poison_n for_o when_o unthrift_n and_o naughtipacke_n here_o this_o say_n by_o and_o by_o as_o though_o they_o have_v by_o justification_n obtain_v liberty_n to_o do_v what_o they_o listen_v they_o cry_v out_o why_o then_o shall_v we_o not_o sin_v still_o see_v we_o be_v under_o grace_n and_o not_o under_o the_o law_n p._n god_n forbid_v that_o any_o man_n shall_v be_v of_o that_o mind_n r._n but_o what_o be_v to_o be_v do_v to_o these_o fellow_n that_o abuse_v god_n execute_v the_o office_n of_o a_o husband_n but_o you_o deny_v not_o that_o there_o be_v some_o goodness_n in_o respect_n of_o the_o presence_n of_o god_n seed_n which_o can_v not_o yet_o utter_v his_o strength_n without_o the_o spirit_n of_o righteousness_n for_o either_o i_o be_o utter_o deceive_v or_o else_o in_o those_o man_n that_o i_o speak_v last_o of_o there_o be_v some_o knowledge_n these_o thing_n plain_a in_o my_o own_o person_n true_o there_o be_v in_o i_o a_o will_v to_o do_v good_a but_o i_o find_v not_o any_o way_n to_o perform_v it_o for_o i_o be_o hinder_v by_o the_o flesh_n and_o by_o sin_n that_o reign_v in_o i_o and_o i_o be_o carry_v away_o unto_o evil_a so_o as_o i_o do_v not_o the_o good_a which_o i_o will_v do_v but_o i_o do_v the_o evil_n which_o i_o be_o loath_a to_o do_v wherefore_o if_o i_o do_v the_o thing_n that_o i_o will_v not_o then_o be_v it_o not_o i_o that_o do_v it_o but_o sin_n that_o dwell_v in_o i_o which_o do_v so_o rough_o overmaster_v i_o when_o the_o power_n and_o work_n of_o god_n spirit_n be_v absent_a whereby_o victory_n be_v obtain_v that_o i_o be_o compel_v to_o do_v the_o thing_n which_o my_o reason_n in_o lighten_v by_o by_o god_n law_n god_n law_n do_v please_v i_o and_o delight_v i_o i_o allow_v it_o to_o be_v rightful_a i_o agree_v with_o it_o and_o i_o will_v fain_o obey_v it_o but_o on_o the_o contrary_a part_n i_o see_v feel_v and_o find_v by_o experience_n another_o law_n in_o my_o member_n &_o in_o the_o sense_n power_n &_o ability_n of_o my_o soul_n contrary_a to_o the_o law_n of_o my_o mind_n and_o fight_v against_o it_o for_o when_o as_o by_o the_o just_a and_o holy_a law_n of_o my_o mind_n i_o perceive_v what_o be_v right_a and_o allow_v of_o it_o and_o delight_n in_o it_o as_o good_a and_o wolud_v fain_o do_v it_o therewithal_o the_o wicked_a law_n of_o my_o body_n counsele_v &_o entice_v i_o to_o the_o contrary_a and_o this_o law_n deliver_v i_o prisoner_n to_o the_o law_n of_o sin_n therefore_o i_o thank_v my_o god_n which_o have_v deliver_v i_o from_o so_o miserable_a bondage_n of_o sin_n by_o jesus_n christ_n our_o lord_n for_o to_o conclude_v in_o two_o word_n unless_o he_o bear_v a_o new_a in_o christ_n that_o now_o by_o this_o talk_n of_o you_o i_o understand_v one_o of_o the_o hard_a point_n of_o this_o epistle_n which_o point_n consist_v in_o the_o know_n of_o the_o office_n which_o god_n law_n use_v towards_o a_o man_n now_o if_o it_o please_v you_o let_v we_o treat_v of_o the_o third_o state_n of_o man_n that_o be_v to_o wit_n when_o he_o be_v justify_v and_o namely_o unregenerat_a &_o in_o regenerate_v i_o use_v i_o own_o example_n so_o in_o lay_v forth_o of_o this_o three_o member_n of_o our_o partition_n i_o will_v allege_v my_o own_o experience_n as_o a_o pattern_n wherein_o to_o represent_v the_o image_n of_o a_o man_n regenerate_v 8._o chap._n 8._o as_o touch_v the_o first_o part_n of_o your_o demand_n sure_o the_o state_n and_o dignity_n of_o they_o that_o be_v justify_v &_o regenerate_v be_v most_o excellent_a as_o who_o be_v dead_a to_o the_o old_a adam_n and_o greff_v into_o the_o new_a adam_n christ_n be_v not_o henceforth_o in_o danger_n of_o any_o damnation_n for_o how_o be_v it_o possible_a that_o christ_n our_o head_n shall_v give_v up_o his_o own_o member_n to_o destruction_n hereupon_o may_v also_o be_v gather_v a_o answer_v to_o the_o other_o part_n of_o your_o demand_n for_o christ_n workfulnes_n be_v so_o great_a in_o the_o mind_n of_o such_o as_o be_v true_o regenerate_v that_o their_o life_n be_v remedy_n prepare_v for_o this_o weakness_n for_o the_o spirit_n help_v our_o infirmity_n special_o in_o ask_v and_o obtain_v the_o gift_n of_o patience_n and_o uprightness_n of_o mind_n at_o god_n hand_n for_o although_o we_o be_v regenerate_v and_o endue_v with_o christ_n spirit_n yet_o notwithstanding_o we_o be_v so_o oppress_v with_o sorrow_o when_o we_o be_v afflict_v after_o that_o manner_n that_o we_o wot_v not_o how_o to_o pray_v as_o we_o shall_v do_v but_o the_o spirit_n pray_v for_o we_o with_o unutterable_a sigh_n r._n i_o think_v that_o by_o the_o name_n of_o spirit_n forbear_v eat_v or_o else_o cast_v away_o that_o superstitious_a scrupilositye_n of_o he_o and_o if_o he_o eat_v without_o put_v of_o it_o away_o out_o of_o doubt_n he_o sin_v again_o if_o by_o reason_n of_o thy_o fire_n eat_v without_o make_v any_o difference_n of_o meat_n thy_o brother_n be_v offend_v so_o as_o he_o think_v amiss_o of_o thou_o or_o at_o leastwise_o if_o he_o fall_v not_o out_o with_o thou_o open_o be_v touch_v with_o inward_a grief_n sure_o now_o be_v not_o this_o deed_n of_o thy_o agre_v to_o christian_n charity_n because_o thou_o eat_v meat_n forbid_v in_o the_o law_n in_o his_o presence_n to_o conclude_v in_o few_o word_n true_o all_o kind_n of_o meat_n be_v clean_o of_o themselves_o &_o thou_o know_v it_o and_o therefore_o thou_o may_v free_o eat_v of_o agree_v to_o you_o in_o this_o description_n of_o god_n kingdom_n for_o i_o think_v it_o consist_v in_o this_o point_n namely_o in_o the_o opening_z &_o enlighten_v of_o our_o mind_n in_o such_o wise_a by_o the_o holy_a ghost_n as_o we_o may_v thorough_o perceive_v god_n goodness_n by_o the_o light_n of_o faith_n &_o with_o the_o same_o faith_n as_o with_o a_o hand_n embrace_v the_o mercy_n of_o our_o most_o merciful_a god_n in_o his_o christ_n that_o by_z the_o mean_v we_o may_v be_v justify_v and_o save_v and_o walk_v reverent_o and_o aweful_o with_o a_o quiet_a conscience_n in_o god_n sight_n p._n you_o understand_v the_o matter_n wherefore_o let_v we_o professer_n of_o the_o gospel_n follow_v diligent_o the_o thing_n that_o serve_v for_o peace_n &_o mutual_a edify_n &_o destroy_v there_o evil_a in_o this_o respect_n if_o a_o man_n eat_v to_o the_o offence_n of_o another_o to_o be_v short_a the_o maintainer_n or_o defender_n of_o christian_a liberty_n sin_n in_o that_o case_n not_o because_o he_o eat_v what_o he_o like_v but_o because_o he_o eat_v against_o charity_n r._n will_v god_n that_o all_o gospeler_n understand_v the_o use_n of_o this_o liberty_n for_o than_o will_v it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o all_o of_o we_o will_v rather_o apply_v all_o our_o whole_a life_n to_o edify_v one_o another_o than_o to_o vaunt_v of_o our_o liberty_n to_o the_o great_a offence_n of_o other_o p._n see_v how_o great_a account_n i_o make_v of_o this_o mutual_a edify_n of_o the_o godly_a you_o remember_v what_o i_o have_v say_v of_o the_o pureness_n and_o cleanness_n of_o thing_n in_o their_o own_o nature_n to_o all_o such_o as_o be_v pure_a &_o clean_a whereby_o you_o may_v gather_v that_o it_o be_v lawful_a for_o i_o to_o use_v any_o manner_n of_o meat_n or_o drink_v and_o yet_o for_o all_o this_o i_o think_v it_o most_o discretion_n to_o eat_v no_o flesh_n nor_o to_o drink_v no_o wine_n nor_o to_o do_v any_o thing_n else_o whereat_o my_o brother_n stumble_v or_o be_v offend_v or_o be_v make_v weak_a r._n it_o be_v very_o hard_a for_o this_o kind_n of_o doctrine_n to_o be_v hilde_n on_o both_o part_n as_o well_o of_o such_o as_o know_v the_o liberty_n of_o the_o gospel_n as_o of_o the_o other_o sort_n that_o be_v not_o endue_v with_o such_o strength_n of_o faith_n p._n nay_o it_o be_v very_o easy_a in_o my_o opinion_n for_o both_o of_o they_o to_o use_v this_o doctrine_n so_o every_o of_o they_o beware_v of_o over-hastines_a here_o first_o the_o caveat_n which_o be_v very_o needful_a for_o he_o that_o have_v procee_v further_o in_o knowledge_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o therefore_o will_v needs_o set_v out_o his_o christian_n liberty_n to_o the_o show_n to_o such_o a_o one_o i_o speak_v after_o this_o manner_n thou_o have_v faith_n keep_v it_o to_o thyself_o before_o god_n thou_o i_o say_v which_o be_v strong_a and_o have_v get_v a_o sure_a knowledge_n of_o the_o christian_n liberty_n keep_v thy_o treasure_n to_o thyself_o that_o thou_o may_v use_v it_o wise_o profitable_o and_o seasonable_o and_o believe_v i_o he_o be_v happy_a which_o condemn_v not_o himself_o in_o the_o thing_n that_o he_o alow_v for_o i_o know_v a_o great_a sort_n which_o boast_n of_o christian_n and_o gospellike_a liberty_n from_o the_o tooth_n outward_a howbeit_o not_o because_o they_o feel_v it_o in_o deed_n by_o god_n inward_a teach_n in_o their_o conscience_n but_o because_o they_o have_v learn_v it_o by_o other_o folk_n talk_v or_o write_n but_o happy_a be_v he_o who_o skill_n of_o allow_v or_o disallow_v of_o thing_n come_v of_o the_o feel_n of_o his_o own_o conscience_n by_o the_o inspiration_n of_o god_n holy_a spirit_n r._n i_o know_v a_o good_a sort_n of_o the_o scholar_n of_o that_o school_n who_o as_o soon_o as_o they_o have_v read_v any_o thing_n in_o other_o man_n book_n or_o gather_v aught_o out_o of_o their_o say_n or_o preaching_n by_o and_o by_o as_o though_o they_o have_v a_o full_a and_o perfect_a faith_n in_o all_o point_n do_v set_v upon_o thing_n which_o they_o know_v not_o &_o final_o do_v the_o thing_n which_o their_o own_o conscience_n allow_v not_o but_o to_o leave_v this_o complaint_n what_o caveat_n give_v you_o to_o such_o as_o be_v yet_o weak_a in_o say_v p_o true_o a_o very_a short_a one_o &_o a_o very_a profitable_a one_o as_o i_o suppose_v whosoever_o make_v a_o difference_n of_o meat_n and_o be_v still_o doubtful_a in_o his_o mind_n if_o he_o eat_v he_o be_v conden_v the_o reason_n be_v because_o he_o eat_v not_o with_o faith_n and_o whatsoever_o be_v not_o of_o faith_n be_v sin_n therefore_o we_o must_v not_o do_v any_o thing_n rash_o as_o move_v thereto_o by_o the_o only_a example_n of_o other_o man_n
of_o this_o city_n be_v which_o be_v the_o head_n of_o the_o world_n and_o yet_o you_o have_v be_v so_o bold_a as_o to_o write_v this_o epistle_n unto_o we_o as_o to_o folk_n ignorant_a of_o holy_a matter_n or_o as_o though_o there_o be_v no_o techer_n and_o shepherd_n among_o we_o by_o who_o travel_n preach_v and_o writing_n god_n will_v may_v be_v open_v unto_o us._n p._n true_o my_o brother_n i_o be_o full_o persuade_v of_o the_o thing_n that_o you_o tell_v i_o namely_o that_o you_o be_v full_a of_o desire_n of_o goodness_n and_o of_o all_o knowledge_n of_o matter_n pertain_v to_o god_n insomuche_o that_o you_o be_v able_a to_o admonish_v one_o another_o and_o to_o instruct_v and_o train_v up_o one_o another_o in_o the_o doctrine_n of_o christ_n therefore_o in_o write_v unto_o you_o i_o mean_v not_o to_o take_v upon_o i_o as_o a_o teacher_n &_o controller_n but_o i_o have_v write_v somewhat_o with_o the_o bold_a unto_o you_o to_o put_v you_o in_o remembrance_n according_a to_o
