sufficiency_n 4._o four_o a_o abrupt_a and_o over-sudden_a break_v off_o from_o holy_a duty_n in_o which_o we_o have_v find_v our_o heart_n heat_v and_o enlarge_v when_o a_o man_n in_o prayer_n hear_v or_o receive_v have_v find_v spiritual_a heat_n raise_v and_o fire_n kindle_v he_o shall_v have_v a_o care_n to_o keep_v up_o that_o heat_n warm_v he_o and_o that_o fire_n burn_v in_o he_o so_o long_o as_o may_v be_v it_o be_v not_o possible_a after_o holy_a duty_n be_v end_v to_o keep_v the_o fire_n in_o that_o heat_n and_o the_o heat_n in_o that_o frame_n it_o have_v in_o the_o performance_n of_o the_o duty_n but_o yet_o a_o man_n shall_v keep_v it_o up_o so_o long_o as_o may_v be_v and_o though_o that_o fire_n go_v out_o yet_o it_o shall_v not_o sudden_o be_v quench_v and_o put_v out_o so_o soon_o as_o the_o duty_n be_v over_o but_o it_o shall_v go_v out_o leisurely_o gradual_o when_o david_n find_v that_o holy_a and_o good_a frame_n of_o heart_n in_o the_o people_n 1_o chron._n 29.18_o see_v how_o he_o pray_v for_o they_o he_o find_v in_o they_o a_o float_n of_o good_a affection_n and_o he_o desire_v that_o this_o frame_n of_o heart_n may_v be_v uphold_v and_o keep_v in_o they_o for_o ever_o not_o that_o that_o flame_n and_o float_v of_o good_a affection_n shall_v always_o be_v in_o that_o heat_n and_o height_n that_o then_o they_o be_v in_o but_o that_o such_o a_o frame_n of_o heart_n may_v always_o habitual_o be_v in_o they_o that_o upon_o all_o good_a occasion_n the_o like_a good_a affection_n may_v be_v raise_v and_o the_o like_a fire_n may_v flame_v now_o the_o way_n to_o do_v that_o be_v to_o keep_v they_o up_o so_o long_o as_o may_v be_v and_o when_o they_o do_v sink_v yet_o to_o let_v they_o sink_v so_o gradual_o that_o they_o may_v leave_v in_o the_o heart_n a_o habitual_a disposition_n and_o inclination_n to_o the_o like_a frame_n again_o when_o occasion_n shall_v be_v the_o string_n of_o a_o lute_n or_o a_o viol_n if_o it_o have_v be_v wind_v up_o to_o a_o high_a note_n if_o afterward_o it_o be_v let_v down_o a_o note_n or_o so_o yet_o it_o will_v of_o itself_o be_v rise_v again_o so_o when_o our_o heart_n have_v be_v enlarge_v in_o prayer_n hear_v etc._n etc._n and_o our_o affection_n have_v be_v wound_n and_o skrew_v up_o to_o a_o good_a height_n when_o we_o go_v off_o from_o the_o duty_n yet_o shall_v we_o go_v off_o with_o a_o bent_n of_o the_o heart_n to_o the_o duty_n still_o and_o we_o shall_v do_v our_o best_a to_o keep_v our_o heart_n as_o long_o as_o may_v be_v in_o that_o holy_a and_o good_a frame_n in_o which_o holy_a duty_n leave_v they_o and_o when_o this_o frame_n go_v down_o leisurely_o and_o by_o degree_n it_o will_v leave_v in_o the_o heart_n a_o habitual_a disposition_n and_o preparation_n for_o these_o duty_n again_o and_o this_o be_v that_o which_o cause_v a_o great_a quench_v of_o the_o spirit_n man_n it_o may_v be_v have_v their_o heart_n sweet_o enlarge_v and_o heat_v in_o prayer_n hear_v receive_v and_o as_o soon_o as_o prayer_n be_v do_v the_o sermon_n and_o sacrament_n be_v do_v they_o chap_v sudden_o off_o from_o these_o duty_n break_v then_o off_o abrupt_o and_o fall_v to_o talk_v of_o the_o world_n too_o too_o sudden_o so_o as_o the_o holy_a frame_n of_o heart_n get_v in_o these_o duty_n be_v sudden_o go_v and_o the_o fire_n immediate_o quench_v when_o a_o man_n be_v very_o hot_a if_o he_o present_o strip_v himself_o and_o throw_v off_o his_o clothes_n he_o be_v in_o great_a danger_n to_o take_v such_o a_o cold_a as_o may_v quench_v the_o very_a life_n of_o he_o so_o such_o a_o sudden_a and_o immediate_a chap_a from_o holy_a duty_n to_o matter_n of_o
the_o world_n especial_o to_o matter_n of_o vanity_n it_o quench_v not_o only_o the_o fire_n and_o heat_n but_o quench_v the_o frame_n of_o heart_n so_o as_o it_o be_v not_o easy_a to_o bring_v it_o to_o such_o a_o frame_n again_o it_o exceed_o endanger_v the_o quench_n of_o the_o life_n of_o grace_n when_o a_o man_n have_v be_v at_o a_o sermon_n and_o have_v have_v his_o heart_n affect_v with_o it_o and_o he_o present_o go_v from_o the_o sermon_n and_o hold_v not_o his_o heart_n in_o any_o thought_n of_o it_o no_o nourish_v of_o his_o spiritual_a heat_n by_o meditation_n prayer_n or_o conference_n but_o he_o fall_v instant_o upon_o the_o world_n be_v instant_o up_o to_o the_o ear_n in_o the_o business_n of_o the_o world_n it_o bring_v a_o mighty_a damp_n upon_o the_o spirit_n it_o
