fear_n and_o if_o any_o one_o shall_v object_v against_o i_o that_o i_o do_v not_o as_o become_v a_o gospel_n minister_n endeavour_v to_o help_v forward_o the_o joy_n of_o the_o saint_n i_o have_v these_o two_o thing_n to_o answer_v 1._o i_o do_v conceive_v that_o the_o great_a work_n of_o a_o minister_n and_o the_o grand_a bent_n of_o his_o preach_n and_o that_o which_o he_o shall_v chief_o and_o direct_o have_v a_o eye_n upon_o in_o all_o his_o preach_n aught_o to_o be_v the_o future_a and_o eternal_a safety_n of_o people_n rather_o than_o their_o present_a ravishment_n and_o comfort_n in_o the_o way_n 2._o whatsoever_o i_o have_v write_v in_o this_o or_o in_o any_o other_o part_n of_o this_o exercitation_n do_v most_o direct_o tend_v unto_o and_o make_v for_o the_o safety_n of_o the_o saint_n and_o if_o for_o their_o safety_n then_o consequent_o and_o necessary_o for_o their_o comfort_n both_o in_o this_o world_n and_o in_o the_o world_n to_o come_v yea_o i_o be_o persuade_v that_o no_o doctrine_n be_v indeed_o and_o in_o a_o scripture_n sense_n comfortable_a doctrine_n but_o that_o which_o do_v of_o its_o own_o nature_n minister_v to_o the_o safety_n of_o the_o saint_n and_o to_o their_o preservation_n in_o the_o state_n of_o grace_n and_o if_o i_o be_v not_o herein_o mistake_v i_o will_v to_o god_n that_o people_n will_v make_v use_n of_o that_o say_n whereby_o to_o judge_n what_o manner_n of_o preacher_n be_v the_o most_o comfortable_a preacher_n and_o what_o doctrine_n be_v the_o most_o comfortable_a doctrine_n chap._n xxvii_o that_o a_o minister_n of_o the_o gospel_n have_v no_o warrant_n so_o to_o absolve_v a_o believer_n as_o in_o the_o name_n of_o god_n to_o tell_v he_o that_o his_o sin_n be_v as_o absolute_o pardon_v and_o that_o he_o be_v as_o absolute_o sure_a of_o heaven_n as_o if_o he_o be_v already_o in_o heaven_n consect_n xx._n 20._o it_o follow_v that_o a_o minister_n have_v no_o warrant_n to_o tell_v a_o believer_n how_o that_o he_o may_v assure_v himself_o for_o his_o comfort_n that_o his_o sin_n be_v as_o absolute_o pardon_v and_o that_o he_o shall_v as_o absolute_o be_v save_v as_o if_o he_o be_v already_o in_o the_o bosom_n of_o abraham_n and_o actual_o translate_v with_o enoch_n and_o elias_n the_o obligation_n of_o a_o sinner_n as_o to_o eternal_a condemnation_n be_v take_v off_o not_o absolute_o but_o conditional_o for_o what_o be_v to_o come_v or_o as_o to_o the_o actual_a enjoyment_n of_o what_o mercy_n be_v to_o come_v for_o what_o dismission_n soever_o god_n do_v vouchsafe_v to_o a_o sinner_n in_o this_o life_n we_o must_v suppose_v the_o sinner_n to_o be_v dismiss_v of_o god_n no_o otherwise_o then_o with_o such_o a_o item_n or_o admonition_n which_o christ_n give_v to_o the_o restore_a cripple_n sin_n no_o more_o lest_o the_o same_o thing_n or_o a_o worse_a thing_n come_v unto_o thou_o john_n 5.14_o my_o meaning_n in_o this_o confectary_n be_v plain_o this_o as_o i_o have_v before_o express_v it_o and_o which_o i_o desire_v to_o be_v remember_v viz._n that_o though_o the_o obligation_n of_o a_o sinner_n to_o eternal_a condemnation_n be_v actual_o take_v off_o so_o soon_o as_o he_o be_v convert_v nevertheless_o the_o continuance_n of_o that_o mercy_n be_v not_o absolute_a but_o conditional_a god_n not_o have_v intend_v and_o christ_n not_o have_v intend_v and_o christ_n not_o have_v purchase_v full_a and_o final_a pardon_n
