the_o world_n such_o as_o shall_v conduct_v man_n to_o glory_n and_o immortality_n and_o by_o the_o good_a motion_n and_o inspiration_n of_o his_o holy_a spirit_n incline_v they_o to_o embrace_v it_o do_v endeavour_n to_o make_v all_o man_n happy_a to_o deliver_v they_o from_o the_o misery_n of_o this_o world_n for_o if_o sin_n be_v weed_v out_o of_o it_o there_o will_v be_v no_o misery_n in_o first_o planter_n of_o this_o good_a and_o evil_a respective_o be_v christ_n and_o the_o devil_n together_o with_o the_o improvement_n of_o each_o consideration_n to_o the_o interest_n of_o religion_n forbid_v to_o admit_v notorious_a offender_n schismatic_n and_o stranger_n to_o the_o communion_n but_o suppose_v this_o which_o be_v so_o evident_o false_a as_o to_o the_o church_n to_o be_v true_a as_o to_o some_o particular_a minister_n why_o must_v communicate_v with_o such_o minister_n and_o as_o we_o think_v in_o such_o profane_a company_n be_v unchristian_o abstain_v from_o and_o the_o persevere_v piety_n christ_n will_v tell_v they_o i_o know_v you_o not_o whence_o you_o be_v depart_v from_o i_o all_o you_o that_o work_v iniquity_n and_o what_o inconceivable_a agony_n will_v those_o exclude_v wretch_n then_o be_v in_o what_o horror_n and_o despair_n will_v then_o take_v seizure_n of_o their_o soul_n what_o outcry_n what_o hideous_a wail_n will_v there_o be_v how_o will_v some_o frame_v fruitless_a excuse_n lord_n we_o have_v eat_v and_o drink_v in_o thy_o presence_n and_o thou_o have_v teach_v in_o our_o street_n etc._n etc._n while_o other_o with_o deep_a sigh_n in_o vain_a beg_v pity_n and_o commiseration_n of_o he_o who_o never_o before_o deny_v it_o what_o intolerable_a anguish_n will_v they_o feel_v to_o see_v those_o who_o they_o hate_v and_o despise_v on_o earth_n then_o enter_v into_o the_o glorious_a marriage_n chamber_n of_o the_o son_n of_o god_n and_o they_o themselves_o they_o who_o be_v prosperous_a here_o and_o to_o all_o appearance_n the_o friend_n and_o favourite_n of_o the_o divine_a bridegroom_n eternal_o shut_v out_o from_o his_o presence_n and_o the_o joy_n of_o those_o celestial_a region_n and_o leave_v behind_o in_o unconceivable_a torment_n and_o in_o the_o company_n of_o malicious_a fiend_n and_o devil_n to_o linger_v under_o a_o eternity_n of_o misery_n no_o word_n can_v ever_o reach_v those_o horror_n nor_o can_v our_o thought_n conceive_v they_o and_o may_v none_o of_o we_o ever_o be_v so_o unhappy_a as_o to_o feel_v they_o but_o be_v so_o wise_a as_o to_o watch_v and_o be_v ready_a and_o have_v our_o plain_a and_o practical_a interpretation_n of_o this_o parable_n of_o the_o ten_o virgin_n whereof_o five_o be_v wise_a and_o five_o foolish_a and_o show_v as_o i_o go_v along_o how_o apt_o ever_o miserable_a it_o be_v the_o very_a height_n of_o folly_n this_o and_o which_o one_o will_v think_v a_o man_n of_o any_o sense_n can_v not_o be_v guilty_a of_o there_o be_v nothing_o that_o man_n be_v more_o afraid_a of_o than_o die_a and_o yet_o so_o strange_o contradictious_a be_v they_o to_o themselves_o they_o make_v the_o least_o provision_n against_o this_o great_a evil._n in_o other_o matter_n man_n be_v so_o wise_a as_o to_o endeavour_v to_o secure_v themselves_o against_o their_o fear_n they_o provide_v against_o poverty_n by_o diligence_n and_o parsimony_n against_o of_o the_o duty_n he_o be_v to_o perform_v and_o he_o that_o natural_o be_v not_o so_o capable_a receive_v proportionable_o less_o aid_n from_o heaven_n but_o yet_o such_o as_o be_v sufficient_a to_o therefore_o to_o be_v idle_a and_o negligent_a in_o his_o service_n be_v a_o very_a preposterous_a course_n and_o look_v as_o if_o he_o have_v a_o mind_n to_o provoke_v his_o anger_n against_o he_o but_o indeed_o this_o be_v the_o truth_n god_n be_v so_o very_o far_o from_o be_v a_o unreasonable_o severe_a master_n that_o he_o be_v a_o most_o indulgent_a parent_n and_o command_v nothing_o but_o what_o be_v very_o practicable_a and_o high_o conducive_a to_o the_o good_a and_o happiness_n of_o his_o creature_n which_o shall_v create_v a_o filial_a love_n and_o reverence_n in_o we_o towards_o he_o rather_o than_o a_o slavish_a dread_a but_o however_o he_o be_v not_o so_o unreasonable_o fond_a neither_o as_o to_o pass_v by_o the_o provocation_n of_o obstinate_a irreclaimable_a rebel_n and_o likewise_o proportionable_o to_o reward_v our_o industry_n and_o this_o be_v apt_a indeed_o to_o quicken_v and_o encourage_v we_o in_o our_o duty_n but_o by_o no_o mean_n to_o scare_v and_o affright_v we_o from_o it_o for_o nothing_o can_v be_v more_o reasonable_a than_o for_o god_n to_o expect_v we_o shall_v improve_v what_o he_o bestow_v upon_o we_o for_o that_o very_a end_n and_o that_o we_o his_o five_o talent_n to_o ten_o be_v represent_v god_n deprive_v those_o of_o his_o grace_n and_o the_o assistance_n of_o his_o holy_a spirit_n who_o so_o much_o neglect_v it_o and_o make_v no_o they_o the_o deprivation_n of_o grace_n in_o this_o world_n be_v a_o certain_a forerunner_n of_o perdition_n in_o the_o other_o it_o near_o concern_v therefore_o every_o man_n careful_o to_o improve_v the_o talon_n commit_v to_o he_o because_o unto_o every_o one_o that_o have_v shall_v be_v give_v and_o he_o shall_v have_v abundance_n but_o from_o he_o that_o have_v not_o shall_v be_v take_v away_o expect_v to_o find_v a_o good_a use_v make_v of_o what_o he_o commit_v to_o their_o trust_n and_o last_o that_o the_o condition_n of_o the_o diligent_a will_v be_v unspeakable_o happy_a and_o that_o of_o the_o unprofitable_a unspeakable_o miserable_a and_o that_o both_o in_o this_o world_n and_o the_o next_o first_o god_n give_v sufficient_a grace_n to_o every_o sensible_a christian_a wherewith_o intemperance_n and_o ungoverned_a lust_n and_o inordinate_a desire_n and_o use_v of_o the_o gratification_n of_o sense_n discontent_n and_o anxiety_n of_o mind_n impatience_n and_o the_o like_a shall_v follow_v they_o their_o misery_n will_v be_v endless_a and_o happiness_n a_o utter_a stranger_n to_o they_o and_o therefore_o as_o much_o as_o the_o happiness_n of_o life_n be_v to_o be_v value_v so_o much_o be_v we_o bind_v to_o praise_n and_o adore_v the_o infinite_a and_o disinterest_v goodness_n of_o god_n who_o have_v give_v we_o such_o rule_n of_o live_v as_o if_o observe_v manner_n strive_v with_o we_o and_o he_o that_o still_o despise_v the_o riches_n of_o this_o his_o goodness_n 8._o rom._n 2.4_o 5_o 8._o and_o be_v not_o by_o it_o lead_v to_o repentance_n but_o course_n of_o a_o river_n it_o may_v be_v damn_v up_o and_o its_o progress_n hinder_v for_o a_o time_n but_o unless_o its_o stream_n be_v divert_v some_o other_o way_n it_o will_v swell_v till_o at_o last_o it_o bear_v down_o the_o obstacle_n and_o rush_v on_o with_o great_a violence_n for_o be_v interrupt_v in_o its_o way_n so_o here_o the_o great_a benignity_n and_o compassion_n of_o god_n grace_n which_o they_o so_o profligate_o waste_v when_o they_o have_v it_o and_o no_o poverty_n certain_o so_o miserable_a as_o that_o which_o will_v starve_v and_o famish_v the_o soul_n and_o bring_v it_o to_o eternal_a death_n and_o therefore_o no_o prodigality_n like_o that_o which_o squander_v away_o that_o which_o be_v the_o only_a nourishment_n of_o the_o spiritual_a life_n especial_o if_o we_o consider_v for_o what_o it_o be_v that_o a_o sinner_n be_v thus_o prodigal_a of_o so_o great_a a_o treasure_n namely_o the_o gratify_v a_o few_o brutish_a lust_n and_o the_o act_v such_o vice_n close_a of_o this_o parable_n he_o that_o humble_v himself_o shall_v be_v exalt_v that_o be_v in_o short_a man_n humbleness_n of_o mind_n in_o point_n of_o virtue_n their_o self-annihilation_a and_o impression_n of_o a_o near_a resemblance_n to_o that_o divine_a fountain_n of_o holiness_n and_o perfection_n who_o here_o they_o acknowledge_v to_o be_v the_o giver_n of_o every_o good_a and_o perfect_a gift_n they_o shall_v then_o see_v he_o as_o he_o be_v and_o they_o shall_v be_v like_o he_o no_o failure_n no_o slip_v or_o imperfection_n no_o avocation_n from_o the_o happy_a employment_n of_o admire_v and_o love_v god_n shall_v be_v there_o which_o in_o this_o life_n be_v the_o perpetual_a clog_n and_o vexation_n of_o a_o holy_a soul_n but_o with_o their_o faculty_n free_a and_o
