after_o all_o good_a mean_n appoint_v and_o sanctify_v for_o our_o spiritual_a good_a and_o therefore_o that_o heart_n which_o sweet_o be_v affect_v and_o inflame_v with_o the_o word_n and_o prayer_n and_o meditation_n and_o conference_n and_o vow_n and_o sing_v of_o psalm_n and_o use_v of_o good_a book_n we_o doubt_v not_o but_o it_o be_v breathe_v on_o by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n whilst_o other_o that_o use_n all_o these_o ordinance_n out_o of_o custom_n or_o formality_n or_o some_o other_o sinister_a end_n alas_o their_o conceit_n of_o be_v right_a be_v build_v on_o the_o sand_n and_o therefore_o down_o it_o fall_v at_o death_n flood_n and_o be_v overwhelm_v in_o destruction_n three_o god_n spirit_n be_v ever_o attend_v with_o the_o spirit_n of_o prayer_n and_o therefore_o say_v the_o apostle_n we_o know_v not_o how_o to_o pray_v but_o the_o spirit_n itself_o make_v intercession_n for_o we_o with_o groan_n which_o can_v be_v utter_v rom._n 8.26_o 8.26_o rom._n 8.26_o o_o the_o bless_a operation_n of_o this_o spirit_n it_o even_o warm_v the_o spirit_n of_o a_o man_n with_o quicken_a life_n to_o pour_v out_o itself_o in_o the_o presence_n of_o the_o lord_n his_o god_n sometime_o in_o more_o hearty_a prayer_n and_o sometime_o in_o more_o faint_a and_o cold_a yet_o always_o edge_v with_o infinite_a desire_n that_o they_o be_v far_o more_o fervent_a than_o they_o be_v but_o on_o the_o other_o side_n every_o delude_a pharisee_n be_v a_o mere_a stranger_n to_o the_o power_n of_o prayer_n if_o he_o pray_v often_o as_o i_o make_v it_o a_o question_n yet_o never_o pray_v he_o from_o a_o break_a heart_n and_o this_o argue_v that_o all_o his_o confidence_n be_v no_o better_a than_o a_o weed_n which_o grow_v of_o its_o own_o accord_n &_o therefore_o like_o jonahs_n gourd_n when_o affliction_n come_v it_o wither_v on_o a_o sudden_a four_o the_o testimony_n of_o god_n spirit_n be_v often_o exercise_v and_o accompany_v with_o fear_n and_o jealousy_n and_o doubt_n and_o distrust_n and_o variety_n of_o temptation_n which_o many_o time_n will_v drive_v the_o soul_n thus_o distress_v to_o cry_v mighty_o to_o god_n to_o re-examine_a her_o ground_n to_o confirm_v her_o watch_n to_o resort_v for_o counsel_n where_o it_o may_v be_v have_v while_o on_o the_o contrary_a the_o pharisee_n groundless_a conceit_n lie_v in_o his_o bosom_n without_o fear_n or_o jealousy_n or_o doubt_n or_o distrust_n or_o any_o such_o ado_n why_o so_o alas_o satan_n be_v too_o subtle_a to_o trouble_v he_o in_o that_o case_n he_o know_v his_o foundation_n be_v falsehood_n his_o hope_n of_o heaven_n no_o better_o than_o a_o golden_a dream_n and_o therefore_o in_o policy_n he_o hold_v his_o peace_n that_o he_o may_v hold_v he_o the_o fast_o five_o the_o testimony_n of_o god_n spirit_n be_v ever_o most_o refresh_a at_o those_o time_n when_o we_o retire_v ourselves_o to_o converse_v with_o god_n in_o a_o more_o solemn_a manner_n when_o we_o feel_v that_o we_o have_v conquer_v or_o well_o curb_v some_o corruption_n of_o nature_n when_o we_o be_v well_o exercise_v in_o the_o ordinance_n of_o god_n or_o in_o our_o suffering_n by_o man_n for_o a_o good_a cause_n and_o conscience_n sake_n then_o or_o at_o such_o time_n shall_v we_o feel_v that_o sweetness_n of_o the_o spirit_n cherish_v our_o heart_n with_o a_o lightsome_a comfort_n that_o can_v be_v utter_v while_o on_o the_o contrary_a the_o delude_a man_n be_v always_o alike_o peremptory_a in_o his_o confidence_n you_o shall_v not_o take_v he_o at_o any_o time_n without_o a_o bold_a persuasion_n that_o he_o hope_v to_o be_v save_v as_o well_o as_o the_o best_a thus_o like_o a_o man_n who_o lie_v
