odious_a that_o we_o may_v appear_v just_a or_o a_o find_n but_o iniquity_n in_o they_o that_o be_v opposite_a to_o we_o that_o we_o may_v destroy_v they_o there_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o this_o it_o be_v meet_v you_o and_o i_o shall_v consider_v how_o far_o we_o have_v be_v in_o this_o spirit_n it_o be_v a_o very_a gross_a and_o common_a evil_n yet_o not_o discern_v because_o they_o that_o we_o prosecute_v with_o such_o enmity_n we_o first_o paint_v they_o in_o our_o fancy_n as_o devil_n &_o enemy_n to_o god_n and_o then_o think_v we_o do_v well_o to_o destroy_v they_o believe_v they_o with_o intention_n to_o humble_a subject_a and_o reform_v and_o that_o from_o a_o holy_a and_o pure_a law_n and_o from_o a_o just_a and_o godly_a nature_n and_o life_n this_o be_v no_o christian_a or_o divine_a dispensation_n but_o a_o legal_a one_o yet_o who_o be_v there_o of_o you_o that_o can_v justify_v himself_o by_o this_o law_n consider_v it_o serious_o do_v you_o reprove_v and_o punish_v man_n as_o man_n as_o brethren_n as_o god_n creature_n and_o child_n though_o enemy_n do_v you_o do_v it_o with_o intent_n to_o humble_a and_o reform_v or_o to_o ruin_n and_o destroy_v do_v to_o lay_v down_o his_o life_n for_o they_o that_o he_o have_v so_o reprove_v and_o after_o he_o have_v discover_v sin_n in_o a_o holy_a
spirit_n in_o obedience_n to_o his_o father_n and_o in_o all_o his_o work_n know_v no_o sin_n yet_o he_o himself_o be_v make_v sin_n his_o father_n by_o a_o superior_a law_n judge_v he_o as_o the_o sinner_n and_o acquit_v pardon_v and_o justify_v they_o this_o be_v christ_n way_n first_o reprove_v severe_o as_o a_o legal_a minister_n pure_o and_o holy_o and_o find_v that_o short_a or_o weak_a he_o lay_v down_o his_o life_n for_o they_o he_o have_v condemn_v and_o when_o he_o have_v administer_v the_o law_n in_o its_o high_a purity_n he_o then_o nail_v it_o to_o the_o cross_n as_o a_o weak_a thing_n that_o can_v not_o save_v and_o die_v under_o it_o to_o bring_v in_o a_o better_a law_n of_o peace_n and_o forgiveness_n the_o four_o and_o last_o be_v the_o best_a the_o reproof_n of_o the_o spirit_n which_o christ_n prefer_v above_o his_o own_o john_n 16.7_o 8_o etc._n etc._n it_o be_v expedient_a that_o i_o go_v away_o for_o if_o i_o go_v not_o away_o the_o comforter_n will_v not_o come_v unto_o you_o but_o if_o i_o depart_v i_o will_v send_v he_o unto_o you_o and_o when_o he_o be_v come_v he_o will_v reprove_v the_o world_n of_o sin_n and_o of_o righteousness_n and_o of_o judgement_n christ_n reprove_v of_o sin_n from_o righteousness_n the_o spirit_n reprove_v of_o sin_n and_o righteousness_n christ_n reprove_v of_o sin_n in_o the_o flesh_n in_o weakness_n as_o under_o it_o be_v from_o a_o just_a holy_a and_o godly_a life_n and_o nature_n if_o these_o thing_n be_v true_a as_o they_o be_v then_o consider_v what_o spirit_n have_v you_o act_v in_o be_v it_o not_o mercy_n and_o justice_n to_o you_o and_o all_o man_n that_o this_o shall_v be_v know_v that_o you_o deal_v with_o they_o not_o as_o man_n but_o as_o brat_n of_o antichrist_n and_o seek_v not_o to_o reform_v either_o person_n or_o thing_n but_o to_o destroy_v root_n branch_n abjure_v and_o curse_v for_o ever_o and_o that_o by_o no_o steady_a know_a law_n of_o god_n or_o man_n such_o you_o never_o can_v own_v or_o profess_v but_o by_o uncertain_a opinion_n and_o imagination_n which_o you_o never_o be_v nor_o can_v be_v true_a to_o or_o agree_v in_o either_o for_o church_n or_o commonwealth_n yea_o general_o you_o act_v beside_o all_o rule_n law_n and_o authority_n only_o by_o that_o you_o call_v necessity_n self_n preservation_n and_o interest_n and_o this_o you_o do_v not_o from_o a_o pure_a nature_n as_o be_v too_o gross_o manifest_a but_o from_o a_o mixture_n at_o least_o of_o pride_n envy_n malice_n covetousness_n and_o self-seeking_a see_v now_o by_o yourselves_o and_o all_o must_v be_v draw_v out_o and_o judge_v in_o one_o state_n of_o thing_n man_n religion_n and_o gift_n lie_v uppermost_a and_o cover_v their_o sin_n that_o religion_n must_v have_v a_o time_n to_o work_v and_o have_v honour_n or_o reward_v for_o that_o work_n and_o when_o it_o be_v wear_v out_o it_o must_v as_o a_o old_a garment_n be_v lay_v aside_o and_o then_o that_o evil_a that_o be_v under_o that_o form_n of_o godliness_n must_v be_v see_v show_v forth_o and_o punish_v in_o another_o state_n the_o good_a may_v lie_v under_o the_o evil_n god_n have_v a_o work_n and_o a_o object_n prepare_v for_o that_o evil_n when_o its_o work_n be_v do_v than_o the_o good_a will_v rise_v and_o have_v its_o time_n and_o place_n three_o as_o christ_n rule_v all_o angel_n and_o man_n so_o all_o devil_n all_o infernal_a spirit_n and_o will_v bring_v they_o forth_o out_o of_o the_o bottomless_a pit_n into_o his_o own_o house_n and_o city_n and_o give_v they_o their_o time_n and_o place_n to_o show_v forth_o all_o the_o evil_a that_o be_v in_o they_o and_o thereby_o judge_v they_o and_o then_o cast_v they_o into_o the_o lake_n of_o fire_n for_o ever_o and_o there_o be_v various_a sort_n and_o kind_n of_o flesh_n or_o humane_a weakness_n for_o they_o to_o feed_v upon_o in_o the_o nature_n of_o man_n what_o be_v they_o they_o do_v challenge_v and_o must_v have_v first_o for_o word_n and_o action_n and_o then_o for_o shame_n and_o punishment_n and_o if_o we_o do_v in_o the_o least_o see_v the_o kingdom_n of_o christ_n we_o shall_v be_v content_a to_o take_v our_o lot_n in_o any_o of_o these_o or_o in_o all_o of_o they_o as_o it_o please_v god_n to_o dispose_v of_o we_o if_o your_o mind_n be_v enlarge_v into_o the_o sight_n and_o view_v of_o the_o greatness_n of_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n and_o the_o continuance_n of_o it_o in_o all_o age_n everlasting_o you_o will_v with_o submission_n and_o joy_n consider_v and_o behold_v the_o present_a work_n of_o god_n upon_o yourselves_o and_o upon_o the_o nation_n but_o so_o long_o as_o you_o be_v shut_v up_o in_o that_o narrow_a spirit_n and_o limit_v the_o kingdom_n of_o christ_n to_o such_o a_o poor_a inconsiderable_a temporary_a thing_n as_o your_o present_a dispensation_n and_o service_n you_o can_v understand_v any_o thing_n of_o it_o therefore_o know_v that_o you_o be_v in_o darkness_n and_o know_v not_o impure_a 2._o it_o be_v imperfect_a in_o its_o kind_n 3._o it_o be_v fleshly_a and_o fade_a 4._o it_o be_v not_o a_o holy_a nature_n 5._o it_o be_v not_o holiness_n that_o can_v take_v away_o sin_n 6._o it_o be_v not_o holiness_n that_o can_v take_v away_o the_o sin_n of_o the_o world_n and_o therefore_o not_o the_o holiness_n of_o god_n and_o christ_n second_o as_o it_o be_v short_a in_o its_o kind_n and_o insufficient_a to_o answer_v the_o perfect_a and_o good_a will_n of_o god_n either_o in_o your_o own_o soul_n or_o upon_o the_o nation_n so_o it_o be_v corrupt_v open_o deface_v and_o for_o guilt_n reject_v because_o it_o be_v pollute_v it_o be_v not_o your_o rest_n to_o abide_v and_o persist_v in_o a_o way_n and_o state_n disow_v and_o refuse_v by_o god_n be_v not_o only_a sloth_n and_o ignorance_n but_o unbelief_n and_o disobedience_n god_n never_o pull_v down_o one_o dispensation_n but_o he_o provide_v another_o if_o you_o be_v
and_o do_v make_v these_o thing_n uphold_v they_o and_o walk_v in_o they_o and_o in_o all_o the_o way_n and_o form_n of_o man_n in_o the_o midst_n of_o all_o their_o vanity_n and_o iniquity_n and_o form_v a_o new_a one_o for_o if_o you_o can_v receive_v all_o into_o your_o heart_n and_o bowel_n of_o love_n you_o will_v never_o renew_v or_o reform_v any_o thing_n for_o love_n be_v the_o first_o move_v cause_n of_o all_o good_a it_o be_v love_n only_o that_o have_v in_o it_o that_o mercy_n that_o life_n that_o goodness_n that_o can_v heal_v and_o reform_v the_o poor_a disease_a and_o decay_a state_n of_o man_n and_o of_o the_o church_n this_o excellent_a divine_a nature_n of_o god_n love_n have_v reject_v with_o indignation_n your_o harsh_a and_o severe_a spirit_n of_o self-sasety_a and_o self-seeking_a into_o confusion_n and_o shame_n and_o have_v take_v the_o work_n out_o of_o your_o hand_n into_o his_o own_o after_o you_o have_v by_o violence_n and_o unskilfulness_n spoil_v waste_a and_o ruin_v he_o will_v himself_o save_v and_o restore_v and_o in_o order_n to_o it_o take_v the_o whole_a frame_n of_o thing_n in_o all_o its_o sin_n death_n curse_n and_o misery_n both_o person_n party_n form_n and_o state_n into_o the_o bowel_n of_o his_o most_o tender_a compassion_n into_o himself_o and_o his_o own_o nature_n life_n and_o be_v who_o be_v emanuel_n god_n with_o we_o in_o our_o flesh_n and_o so_o in_o and_o under_o our_o sin_n and_o curse_n bear_v of_o they_o for_o we_o and_o from_o we_o he_o have_v love_n to_o those_o person_n that_o you_o will_v destroy_v find_v his_o own_o image_n in_o they_o for_o they_o be_v his_o own_o creature_n and_o child_n therefore_o he_o will_v save_v they_o and_o first_o pardon_n and_o then_o remove_v their_o iniquity_n in_o those_o office_n that_o you_o will_v destroy_v he_o know_v there_o be_v good_a in_o they_o and_o in_o the_o honour_n and_o riches_n belong_v to_o they_o and_o therefore_o will_v take_v away_o the_o abuse_n and_o corruption_n of_o they_o and_o in_o that_o service_n that_o you_o so_o much_o vilify_v there_o be_v heavenly_a excellency_n which_o must_v be_v preserve_v purify_v enlighten_v and_o own_o sin_n you_o will_v find_v mercy_n to_o yourselves_o but_o if_o you_o think_v by_o they_o to_o exalt_v yourselves_o again_o into_o dominion_n and_o power_n in_o the_o nation_n you_o will_v but_o involve_v yourselves_o in_o more_o misery_n and_o wrath_n and_o like_o a_o bull_n in_o a_o net_n entangle_v your_o soul_n in_o great_a error_n and_o outward_a trouble_n the_o holy_a spirit_n i_o know_v and_o have_v feel_v do_v bear_v you_o a_o long_a time_n as_o a_o heavy_a burden_n and_o at_o last_o ease_v himself_o of_o you_o as_o a_o clog_n and_o cumber_v to_o he_o and_o now_o i_o with_o reform_v both_o sect_n fourteen_o beside_o the_o two_o thing_n mention_v of_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n and_o of_o holiness_n there_o be_v some_o other_o thing_n that_o you_o have_v seek_v in_o these_o late_a war_n which_o be_v still_o in_o your_o mind_n as_o common_a liberty_n or_o the_o liberty_n of_o the_o people_n and_o liberty_n of_o conscience_n but_o it_o be_v most_o certain_o true_a and_o by_o experience_n now_o manifest_v that_o these_o thing_n be_v not_o in_o that_o spirit_n in_o which_o you_o have_v act_v and_o still_o stand_v nor_o be_v this_o way_n of_o strife_n and_o contention_n the_o way_n to_o obtain_v they_o but_o the_o contrary_a for_o as_o war_n and_o enmity_n be_v against_o the_o kingdom_n of_o christ_n which_o be_v a_o kingdom_n of_o peace_n and_o as_o they_o harden_v pollute_v and_o vitiate_v the_o mind_n of_o man_n which_o be_v contrary_a to_o holiness_n so_o they_o do_v natural_o exalt_v will_n and_o force_n rage_n and_o jealousy_n and_o so_o must_v necessary_o eat_v up_o and_o devour_v all_o liberty_n and_o turn_v all_o into_o the_o worst_a kind_n of_o tyranny_n if_o the_o father_n of_o mercy_n and_o spirit_n do_v not_o enlarge_v mollify_v and_o sweeten_v the_o nature_n of_o man_n which_o wrath_n and_o war_n do_v embitter_v and_o harden_v it_o be_v true_a common_a liberty_n be_v write_v in_o the_o common_a nature_n of_o man_n in_o some_o degree_n though_o it_o be_v very_o weak_a this_o liberty_n come_v forth_o in_o you_o in_o notion_n profession_n and_o affection_n beyond_o what_o it_o do_v in_o other_o people_n and_o it_o have_v be_v not_o only_o talk_v of_o but_o desire_v by_o you_o yet_o that_o spirit_n in_o which_o you_o rise_v and_o in_o which_o you_o seek_v it_o have_v not_o any_o true_a liberty_n in_o it_o and_o if_o it_o have_v not_o liberty_n in_o it_o it_o can_v neither_o attain_v it_o for_o you_o from_o other_o nor_o give_v it_o by_o you_o to_o other_o it_o never_o can_v do_v either_o mind_n well_o what_o i_o write_v else_o you_o will_v not_o understand_v it_o for_o it_o be_v i_o know_v beside_o the_o common_a reason_n and_o apprehension_n of_o man_n and_o therefore_o seem_v to_o be_v and_o be_v
