be_v all_o this_o because_o they_o think_v only_o the_o open_n of_o these_o thing_n make_v they_o divine_v whereas_o without_o the_o holy_a ghost_n sanctify_v and_o alter_v the_o heart_n in_o some_o measure_n to_o taste_v and_o relish_v these_o thing_n that_o as_o they_o be_v divine_a in_o themselves_o so_o to_o have_v some_o what_o divine_a in_o the_o heart_n to_o taste_v these_o thing_n it_o be_v impossible_a but_o that_o the_o heart_n shall_v rise_v against_o they_o and_o so_o it_o do_v for_o when_o it_o come_v to_o particular_n you_o must_v deny_v yourself_o in_o this_o honour_n in_o this_o pleasure_n &_o commodity_n now_o you_o must_v venture_v the_o displeasure_n of_o man_n for_o this_o and_o that_o truth_n the_o heart_n rise_v in_o scorn_n and_o loathe_v of_o divine_a truth_n when_o it_o come_v to_o particular_n they_o know_v nothing_o as_o they_o shall_v for_o when_o be_v truth_n know_v but_o when_o in_o particular_n we_o stand_v for_o it_o and_o will_v neither_o betray_v it_o nor_o do_v any_o thing_n that_o do_v not_o benefit_v a_o christian_a if_o we_o have_v not_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n to_o relish_v truth_n in_o particular_a they_o will_v do_v we_o no_o good_a and_o except_o the_o spirit_n sanctify_v the_o heart_n of_o man_n first_o by_o these_o truth_n the_o truth_n will_v never_o be_v understand_v by_o the_o proud_a natural_a heart_n of_o man_n therefore_o the_o course_n that_o god_n take_v with_o his_o child_n be_v this_o mystery_n those_o that_o he_o mean_v to_o have_v he_o first_o inspire_v into_o their_o heart_n some_o desire_n to_o near_a communion_n with_o god_n he_o relish_v peace_n of_o conscience_n and_o joy_n in_o the_o holy_a ghost_n they_o be_v sweet_a thing_n and_o all_o the_o duty_n of_o christianity_n because_o he_o make_v it_o his_o main_a business_n to_o adorn_v his_o proâ—ession_n and_o to_o live_v here_o so_o as_o he_o may_v live_v for_o ever_o hereafter_o and_o this_o must_v be_v of_o necessity_n for_o therefore_o a_o poor_a soul_n that_o hear_v the_o thing_n publish_v by_o he_o understand_v they_o better_o by_o the_o help_n of_o the_o spirit_n than_o he_o that_o speak_v they_o better_a indeed_o for_o his_o use_n and_o comfort_n simile_n as_o we_o see_v there_o be_v some_o that_o can_v measure_v land_n exact_o but_o the_o man_n that_o owe_v the_o land_n measure_v he_o know_v the_o use_n of_o and_o strength_n of_o our_o affection_n with_o all_o my_o strength_n be_v a_o man_n what_o he_o will_v be_v if_o he_o be_v a_o magistrate_n with_o the_o strength_n of_o his_o magistracy_n if_o he_o be_v a_o minister_n with_o the_o strength_n of_o his_o ministerial_a call_n in_o any_o â—â—ndition_n i_o must_v love_v he_o with_o all_o that_o that_o condition_n enable_v i_o to_o for_o it_o be_v a_o command_a affection_n and_o be_v so_o it_o command_v all_o within_o and_o without_o to_o give_v content_a to_o the_o person_n love_v it_o command_v the_o wit_n to_o devise_v and_o the_o memory_n to_o retain_v good_a thing_n it_o command_v joy_n and_o delight_n it_o command_v anger_n to_o remove_v hindrance_n and_o so_o all_o outward_a action_n love_n command_v the_o do_v of_o all_o thing_n it_o set_v all_o on_o work_n it_o be_v a_o most_o active_a affection_n it_o be_v like_a to_o fire_n it_o be_v compare_v to_o it_o it_o set_v all_o on_o work_n and_o command_v all_o that_o man_n be_v able_a to_o do_v therefore_o those_o that_o study_n not_o in_o all_o their_o endeavour_n according_a to_o their_o calling_n and_o place_n according_a to_o every_o thing_n that_o god_n have_v entrust_v they_o with_o god_n to_o please_v god_n and_o to_o honour_v he_o in_o their_o condition_n they_o love_v not_o god_n what_o a_o shame_n be_v it_o that_o when_o god_n have_v give_v we_o such_o a_o sweet_a imperfect_a also_o therefore_o st._n john_n say_v 2._o we_o know_v that_o we_o be_v the_o son_n of_o god_n but_o it_o appear_v not_o what_o we_o shall_v be_v what_o we_o shall_v be_v in_o heaven_n at_o all_o of_o the_o gospel_n in_o nature_n there_o be_v not_o a_o spark_n of_o light_n or_o any_o inclination_n to_o the_o gospel_n but_o it_o be_v mere_o above_o nature_n for_o he_o remove_v here_o all_o natural_a way_n of_o know_v the_o gospel_n eye_n ear_n &_o understanding_n therefore_o the_o knowledge_n of_o it_o be_v mere_o supernatural_a for_o if_o god_n have_v not_o reveal_v it_o who_o can_v ever_o have_v devise_v it_o and_o when_o he_o reveal_v it_o to_o discover_v it_o by_o his_o spirit_n it_o be_v supernatural_a but_o in_o heaven_n much_o more_o which_o be_v the_o three_o degree_n i_o speak_v of_o gospel_n therefore_o by_o the_o way_n you_o may_v know_v the_o reason_n why_o so_o many_o heresy_n have_v spring_v out_o of_o the_o gospel_n more_o than_o out_o of_o he_o law_n &_o the_o misunderstanding_n of_o it_o there_o be_v few_o or_o no_o heresy_n from_o that_o because_o the_o principle_n of_o the_o law_n be_v write_v in_o the_o heart_n man_n natural_o know_v that_o whoredom_n and_o adultery_n and_o filthy_a live_n etc._n etc._n be_v sin_n man_n have_v not_o so_o quench_v nature_n but_o that_o they_o know_v that_o those_o thing_n be_v naught_o therefore_o there_o have_v be_v excellent_a lawmaker_n among_o the_o heathen_n but_o the_o gospel_n be_v a_o mere_a mystery_n discover_v out_o of_o the_o breast_n of_o god_n without_o all_o principle_n of_o have_v passive_a wit_n to_o submit_v to_o divine_a truth_n and_o to_o work_v nothing_o out_o of_o themselves_o as_o the_o spider_n out_o of_o her_o own_o bowel_n there_o have_v not_o be_v such_o spiritual_a meaning_n of_o they_o and_o so_o they_o be_v hide_v to_o carnal_a man_n in_o the_o church_n and_o then_o three_o in_o regard_n of_o the_o full_a comprehension_n of_o they_o as_o they_o be_v indeed_o and_o so_o they_o be_v reserve_v for_o heaven_n we_o have_v but_o a_o little_a glimpse_n of_o they_o a_o little_a light_n into_o they_o in_o this_o world_n now_o in_o this_o place_n be_v mean_v the_o thing_n that_o be_v discover_v in_o the_o gospel_n especial_o as_o they_o be_v apprehend_v by_o the_o spirit_n together_o with_o the_o consummation_n of_o they_o in_o heaven_n for_o they_o differ_v only_o in_o degree_n the_o discovery_n of_o the_o heavenly_a thing_n in_o the_o gospel_n here_o the_o privilege_n and_o grace_n and_o comfort_n of_o god_n child_n and_o the_o consummation_n of_o they_o in_o heaven_n and_o we_o may_v reason_v from_o the_o lesser_a to_o the_o great_a if_o so_o be_v that_o a_o natural_a man_n though_o he_o have_v natural_a eye_n and_o ear_n and_o wit_n about_o he_o can_v conceive_v the_o hide_a mystery_n of_o the_o gospel_n gospel_n spiritual_o with_o application_n much_o more_o unable_a be_v he_o and_o much_o less_o can_v he_o conceive_v those_o thing_n of_o a_o better_a life_n now_o the_o thing_n of_o the_o gospel_n the_o privilege_n the_o grace_n and_o comfort_n which_o christ_n the_o spring_n and_o head_n of_o they_o but_o not_o understand_v heavenly_a thing_n in_o their_o own_o light_n as_o heavenly_a thing_n as_o the_o thing_n of_o the_o gospel_n rerepent_v they_o can_v talk_v of_o repentance_n that_o we_o common_o speak_v of_o which_o be_v a_o mystery_n but_o notwithstanding_o who_o know_v repentance_n by_o the_o light_a proper_a to_o it_o but_o he_o that_o by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n have_v sin_n faith_n and_o dispute_v learned_o of_o it_o and_o deduce_v this_o from_o that_o but_o when_o he_o come_v to_o be_v in_o extremity_n when_o the_o terror_n of_o the_o lord_n be_v upon_o he_o when_o he_o come_v to_o use_v it_o he_o be_v a_o mere_a stranger_n to_o it_o to_o cast_v himself_o be_v a_o sinful_a creature_n into_o the_o arm_n of_o god_n mercy_n he_o can_v do_v it_o without_o a_o further_a light_n of_o the_o spirit_n discover_v the_o hide_a love_n of_o god_n to_o he_o in_o particular_a and_o so_o for_o other_o grace_n therefore_o they_o do_v but_o speak_v of_o these_o thing_n man_n that_o be_v unsanctified_a as_o a_o blind_a man_n do_v of_o colour_n they_o inward_o scorn_v the_o truth_n they_o speak_v of_o and_o those_o to_o who_o they_o speak_v if_o by_o the_o power_n of_o above_o knowledge_n say_v the_o apostle_n 3._o ephes._n 3_o that_o you_o may_v know_v it_o more_o and_o more_o but_o it_o be_v above_o all_o knowledge_n in_o regard_n of_o the_o perfection_n of_o it_o as_o a_o man_n may_v see_v the_o sea_n but_o he_o can_v comprehend_v the_o sea_n he_o may_v be_v much_o delight_v in_o see_v the_o sea_n but_o he_o see_v neither_o the_o bottom_n nor_o the_o bank_n he_o can_v comprehend_v such_o a_o vast_a body_n he_o may_v see_v the_o heaven_n but_o he_o can_v comprehend_v they_o so_o a_o man_n may_v know_v the_o thing_n when_o they_o be_v reveal_v but_o he_o can_v comprehend_v they_o apprehension_n be_v one_o thing_n and_o comprehension_n be_v another_o there_o may_v be_v apprehension_n in_o a_o poor_a degree_n suitable_a to_o the_o capacity_n of_o the_o soul_n here_o but_o alas_o it_o be_v far_o from_o the_o comprehension_n that_o we_o shall_v have_v in_o heaven_n negation_n that_o be_v one_o way_n of_o know_v they_o by_o way_n of_o negation_n and_o denial_n of_o imperfection_n to_o they_o and_o then_o second_o eminence_n they_o be_v know_v as_o we_o call_v it_o by_o way_n of_o eminence_n that_o be_v by_o compare_v they_o with_o other_o thing_n and_o prefer_v they_o before_o all_o other_o excellency_n whatsoever_o as_o we_o may_v see_v the_o sun_n in_o water_n by_o resemblance_n for_o god_n borrow_v from_o nature_n term_n to_o set_v out_o
