more_o like_a or_o most_o to_o be_v fear_v for_o he_o that_o be_v so_o perfect_a that_o he_o be_v above_o all_o touch_n of_o earthly_a thing_n dwell_v in_o jesus_n christ_n by_o sweet_a and_o soft_a love_n be_v accept_v into_o a_o high_a estate_n of_o heavenly_a glory_n and_o restful_a pleasure_n know_v nothing_o but_o pure_a love_n which_o be_v god_n but_o he_o be_v full_a blind_a indeed_o that_o feign_v himself_o to_o be_v in_o grace_n and_o savour_n with_o jesus_n christ_n without_o spiritual_a feel_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o settle_v himself_o in_o a_o stay_a condition_n as_o if_o he_o be_v ever_o in_o feeling_n &_o work_v in_o spiritual_a grace_n think_v that_o all_o be_v grace_n that_o he_o feel_v without_o and_o within_o and_o that_o what_o he_o do_v and_o speak_v be_v grace_n and_o that_o he_o be_v unchangeable_a therein_o and_o always_o at_o one_o stay_v and_o condition_n which_o he_o esteem_v good_a such_o a_o soul_n be_v full_o blind_a and_o altogether_o without_o feeling_n of_o grace_n in_o any_o its_o working_n for_o they_o be_v wrought_v as_o aforesaid_a and_o by_o a_o lively_a inspiration_n thereof_o with_o the_o spiritual_a presence_n of_o jesus_n christ_n in_o the_o soul_n and_o sweetness_n of_o his_o love_n by_o his_o wonderful_a indwelling_a there_o this_o be_v the_o life_n of_o feel_n in_o grace_n after_o the_o measure_n of_o the_o gift_n with_o a_o reverend_a behold_v he_o spiritual_o without_o which_o in_o some_o measure_n all_o be_v but_o deceitful_a and_o nothing_o worth_a nor_o any_o way_n of_o good_a use_n but_o hurtful_a for_o as_o the_o soul_n be_v the_o light_n and_o life_n of_o the_o body_n so_o be_v jesus_n christ_n the_o light_n and_o life_n of_o the_o soul_n by_o his_o gracious_a presence_n which_o can_v so_o well_o be_v express_v as_o feel_v for_o it_o be_v the_o light_n life_n love_n joy_n strength_n and_o rest_n of_o the_o soul_n that_o have_v painful_o feel_v it_o yet_o with_o sweetness_n insomuch_o that_o it_o can_v cease_v from_o desire_v it_o and_o this_o be_v that_o no_o man_n may_v mistake_v in_o or_o concern_v the_o work_n of_o grace_n in_o his_o own_o soul_n and_o he_o who_o will_v remain_v still_o filthy_a may_v bear_v his_o own_o burden_n whatever_o he_o be_v and_o his_o shame_n also_o for_o god_n have_v not_o leave_v himself_o without_o a_o witness_n in_o every_o man_n neither_o be_v he_o want_v to_o any_o though_o as_o christ_n say_v the_o holy_a ghost_n inspire_v where_o and_o when_o he_o will_v and_o that_o privy_o as_o the_o wind_n blow_v ofttimes_o when_o man_n be_v least_o aware_a of_o he_o but_o be_v know_v by_o his_o stir_n and_o turn_v the_o heart_n into_o a_o behold_n of_o his_o goodness_n and_o melt_v it_o into_o softness_n of_o love_n &_o yet_o wonder_v at_o his_o highness_n &_o shine_a brightness_n but_o the_o substance_n &_o effect_n of_o this_o shine_a grace_n remain_v though_o not_o in_o its_o fervour_n while_o the_o soul_n be_v keep_v clean_o without_o fall_n by_o wilfulness_n or_o negligence_n into_o a_o dissolute_a life_n of_o fleshliness_n and_o outward_a vanity_n and_o also_o know_v that_o the_o soul_n which_o be_v unacquainted_a with_o the_o touch_n of_o spiritual_a grace_n be_v a_o enemy_n to_o all_o spiritual_a work_n as_o be_v old_a dry_a rot_a barren_a and_o without_o savour_n in_o itself_o for_o the_o salt_n have_v there_o no_o savour_n and_o to_o be_v tread_v under_o foot_n and_o nothing_o but_o the_o light_n of_o grace_n through_o touch_v make_v it_o lively_a sharp_a quick_a subtle_a ready_a and_o able_a to_o spiritual_a work_n by_o give_v it_o great_a freedom_n and_o a_o holy_a readiness_n in_o will_n and_o affection_n to_o obey_v all_o the_o stir_n of_o grace_n in_o the_o soul_n and_o to_o watch_v thereto_o for_o open_v of_o the_o spiritual_a eye_n whereby_o it_o become_v apt_a to_o meditation_n watch_v and_o prayer_n but_o not_o to_o pray_v in_o the_o common_a manner_n it_o do_v before_o with_o loud_a voice_n many_o word_n and_o other_o man_n speaking_n but_o in_o stillness_n of_o the_o voice_n and_o tenderness_n of_o heart_n &_o be_v gather_v up_o into_o itself_o and_o in_o the_o spiritual_a presence_n of_o jesus_n christ_n wherein_o every_o word_n and_o syllable_n have_v a_o savoury_a sweet_a sound_n and_o delectable_a melody_n in_o the_o heart_n by_o the_o holy_a spirit_n as_o be_v whole_o enter_v into_o the_o fire_n of_o love_n the_o power_n of_o the_o soul_n be_v all_o heat_a and_o inflame_v with_o love_n so_o that_o the_o spark_n fly_v upward_o whence_o the_o fire_n come_v and_o therein_o be_v the_o soul_n so_o comfortable_o enlighten_v that_o it_o know_v not_o how_o to_o leave_v off_o watch_v pray_v and_o praise_v god_n with_o spiritual_a delight_n and_o heavenly_a joy_n when_o no_o matter_n be_v see_v outward_o nor_o voice_n hear_v and_o this_o be_v the_o food_n and_o nourishment_n of_o the_o soul_n and_o of_o much_o virtue_n against_o temptation_n and_o like_n of_o the_o world_n for_o it_o bear_v up_o both_o soul_n and_o body_n from_o painful_a heaviness_n of_o heart_n and_o feel_v of_o the_o wretchedness_n of_o this_o earthly_a life_n and_o the_o soul_n be_v thereby_o keep_v quick_a and_o lively_a this_o be_v david_n prayer_n as_o incense_n ascend_v and_o perfume_a the_o soul_n and_o so_o as_o any_o have_v a_o psalm_n of_o the_o spirit_n which_o be_v savoury_a and_o soft_a sweet_a and_o pleasant_a in_o the_o pure_a mind_n break_v and_o burn_a heart_n it_o give_v up_o a_o sweet_a smell_n to_o the_o face_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n these_o be_v the_o prayer_n and_o praise_n hear_v and_o accept_v of_o god_n as_o before_o have_v be_v say_v yield_v and_o also_o receive_v grace_n from_o he_o which_o he_o accept_v as_o a_o addition_n to_o his_o glory_n and_o all_o other_o pray_v want_v savour_n and_o sweetness_n as_o a_o speak_n of_o word_n with_o the_o tongue_n when_o the_o heart_n be_v go_v after_o other_o lover_n or_o like_n of_o fleshly_a thing_n and_o the_o soul_n be_v not_o master_n of_o the_o bodily_a wit_n and_o imagination_n of_o the_o brain_n and_o be_v that_o wherein_o be_v no_o constant_a devotion_n no_o freedom_n of_o spirit_n no_o ardent_a and_o burn_a love_n and_o affection_n nor_o whole_a mind_n but_o much_o speak_n and_o run_v about_o here_o and_o there_o by_o word_n seem_v to_o speak_v of_o spiritual_a matter_n without_o savour_n profit_n or_o any_o soul-satisfaction_n and_o therefore_o hear_v with_o i_o a_o few_o word_n more_o of_o this_o weighty_a business_n of_o prayer_n and_o keep_v first_o to_o silence_n and_o firm_a watchfulness_n that_o thou_o may_v first_o come_v to_o a_o joyful_a feel_n of_o this_o spiritual_a pray_v and_o that_o shall_v teach_v thou_o unchangeable_a wisdom_n without_o fancy_n or_o faineâ—ness_n that_o those_o be_v possess_v with_o that_o speak_v well_o or_o ill_o of_o thing_n they_o know_v not_o and_o therefore_o abide_v therein_o until_o grace_v come_v into_o thy_o soul_n otherwise_o and_o will_v remove_v it_o in_o part_n for_o a_o time_n and_o employ_v thou_o otherwise_o and_o then_o therein_o be_v obedient_a for_o overcome_v by_o the_o sensual_a and_o fleshly_a part_n that_o they_o choose_v it_o and_o delight_v therein_o as_o the_o full_a rest_n of_o their_o heart_n so_o that_o they_o feel_v no_o liquor_n of_o life_n or_o sweetness_n of_o grace_n stir_v they_o to_o loathe_v what_o their_o flesh_n like_v nor_o to_o desire_v that_o heavenly_a food_n of_o their_o soul_n so_o they_o do_v not_o bear_v the_o image_n of_o sin_n but_o be_v bear_v and_o carry_v with_o it_o and_o of_o it_o and_o feel_v no_o strength_n but_o in_o it_o nor_o no_o will_n to_o leave_v it_o but_o yield_v thereto_o with_o all_o fashion_v he_o in_o themselves_o with_o their_o mind_n thought_n affection_n desire_n care_n and_o bodily_a wit_n and_o so_o suppose_v they_o love_v fear_v serve_v and_o worship_v he_o as_o a_o man_n like_o themselves_o yet_o without_o sin_n that_o god_n be_v wroth_a with_o they_o as_o a_o man_n that_o be_v offend_v that_o christ_n die_v for_o their_o sin_n and_o therefore_o they_o fall_v down_o at_o his_o foot_n with_o sorrow_n of_o heart_n cry_v for_o mercy_n and_o pardon_n and_o like_o the_o five_o foolish_a virgin_n suppose_v they_o be_v ready_a for_o he_o have_v good_a trust_n in_o his_o mercy_n and_o so_o reverence_v he_o and_o fear_v before_o he_o and_o thereupon_o do_v very_o believe_v they_o so_o know_v and_o worship_v he_o because_o they_o feel_v their_o heart_n move_v and_o stir_v with_o love_n to_o he_o and_o desire_v of_o he_o but_o this_o be_v not_o the_o worship_n in_o spirit_n and_o truth_n which_o he_o expect_v and_o accept_v for_o all_o this_o while_n these_o worshipper_n know_v not_o their_o own_o soul_n nor_o god_n in_o christ_n jesus_n reconcile_a they_o to_o himself_o nor_o have_v they_o any_o oil_n in_o their_o lamp_n or_o sweet_a liquor_n of_o life_n supply_a their_o soul_n for_o the_o lord_n jesus_n be_v not_o see_v much_o less_o know_v and_o worship_v by_o man_n imagination_n for_o the_o earthly_a nature_n can_v receive_v retain_v or_o bear_v unrighteousness_n and_o than_o you_o will_v not_o suppose_v that_o any_o good_a thing_n of_o he_o can_v make_v you_o happy_a but_o what_o be_v so_o reveal_v and_o wrought_v in_o you_o or_o be_v ignorant_a of_o the_o danger_n of_o resist_v or_o neglect_v such_o divine_a stir_n in_o your_o soul_n by_o any_o your_o exquisite_a art_n natural_a reason_n or_o bodily_a wit_n as_o some_o do_v who_o be_v so_o much_o thereby_o deceive_v that_o they_o think_v they_o be_v not_o deceive_v you_o may_v read_v likewise_o of_o some_o that_o have_v travel_v pretty_a far_o in_o outward_a ordinance_n be_v baptize_v with_o water_n etc._n etc._n and_o yet_o not_o hear_v that_o there_o be_v a_o holy_a ghost_n and_o such_o in_o those_o day_n be_v not_o a_o few_o that_o have_v their_o car_n stop_v with_o dumb_a and_o deadly_a sound_n of_o word_n or_o thereby_o become_v so_o dull_a of_o hear_v that_o they_o harken_v not_o to_o the_o voice_n of_o the_o charmer_n though_o he_o charm_v never_o so_o wise_o nor_o be_v get_v one_o step_n far_o than_o those_o that_o have_v not_o hear_v of_o a_o holy_a ghost_n though_o they_o can_v talk_v much_o of_o he_o by_o what_o they_o have_v read_v or_o other_o tell_v they_o and_o how_o then_o shall_v they_o believe_v on_o he_o of_o who_o they_o have_v not_o hear_v special_o while_o they_o be_v so_o willing_o lead_v by_o such_o ignorant_a talk_n that_o so_o dull_v they_o and_o hinder_v their_o hee_n of_o the_o true_a light_n and_o hear_v what_o the_o holy_a spirit_n say_v and_o how_o he_o reveal_v the_o deep_a thing_n of_o god_n to_o all_o watchful_a and_o willing_a soul_n so_o that_o such_o have_v their_o love_n to_o and_o their_o faith_n and_o live_v in_o man_n wisdom_n and_o seldom_o or_o never_o come_v to_o the_o love_n of_o god_n indeed_o and_o in_o truth_n but_o remain_v vain_a and_o unruly_a
talker_n and_o contender_n about_o word_n question_n and_o outward_a thing_n and_o will_v make_v themselves_o love_n god_n by_o their_o own_o strength_n and_o wisdom_n which_o may_v not_o be_v though_o they_o shall_v act_v therein_o never_o so_o violent_o as_o it_o be_v to_o pull_v god_n out_o of_o heaven_n to_o they_o by_o their_o strive_n pant_n and_o bursting_n out_o into_o heat_n in_o their_o devote_a zeal_n for_o though_o such_o suppose_v in_o their_o thought_n and_o heart_n they_o love_v god_n and_o also_o resolve_v so_o to_o do_v and_o for_o his_o sake_n to_o suffer_v death_n yet_o these_o man_n love_n in_o that_o manner_n be_v neither_o true_o so_o nor_o be_v any_o strength_n so_o ask_v by_o they_o to_o stand_v therein_o for_o such_o soul_n have_v but_o either_o receive_v that_o gift_n of_o love_n through_o christ_n as_o a_o man_n or_o they_o have_v it_o not_o but_o will_v have_v it_o and_o so_o strive_v in_o their_o own_o strength_n to_o feel_v the_o love_n of_o god_n but_o come_v not_o to_o a_o wait_a in_o the_o light_n to_o see_v and_o know_v their_o own_o soul_n nor_o themselves_o unworthy_a and_o unable_a to_o do_v any_o good_a thing_n think_v a_o good_a thought_n or_o in_o the_o least_o measure_n to_o move_v towards_o god_n or_o prepare_v their_o own_o heart_n for_o he_o or_o see_v their_o own_o miserable_a blind_a and_o naked_a condition_n as_o dead_a in_o sin_n and_o trespass_n wait_v at_o the_o pool_n to_o receive_v help_n and_o heal_n by_o the_o angel_n move_v of_o the_o water_n as_o the_o lord_n free_a gift_n of_o love_n to_o eternal_a life_n which_o be_v the_o way_n for_o they_o to_o come_v to_o the_o sight_n of_o jesus_n christ_n as_o be_v all_o to_o they_o and_o work_v all_o in_o they_o and_o therefore_o not_o to_o strive_v outward_o but_o quiet_o wait_v and_o ask_v nothing_o but_o the_o gift_n of_o love_n that_o they_o may_v be_v touch_v and_o teach_v of_o he_o to_o see_v god_n by_o his_o bless_a light_n and_o gracious_a presence_n and_o then_o love_v he_o by_o his_o own_o gift_n of_o love_n so_o receive_v through_o patient_a suffering_n as_o wrought_v in_o their_o soul_n by_o the_o holy_a ghost_n without_o bodily_a strength_n or_o earthly_a skill_n these_o be_v the_o mean_n whereby_o soul_n be_v make_v so_o meek_a and_o obedient_a that_o they_o work_v not_o of_o themselves_o at_o all_o by_o bodily_a wit_n or_o exercise_n but_o free_o suffer_v the_o holy_a ghost_n to_o will_n and_o to_o do_v in_o they_o and_o with_o they_o as_o best_o please_v he_o for_o the_o work_n of_o their_o soul_n into_o faith_n and_o feel_n of_o his_o love_n by_o degree_n without_o outward_a noise_n or_o strive_n about_o it_o for_o christ_n voice_n be_v not_o hear_v in_o the_o street_n it_o be_v a_o soft_a and_o still_a voice_n to_o be_v hear_v in_o silence_n and_o feel_v of_o all_o the_o sense_n and_o power_n of_o the_o soul_n and_o be_v very_o sweet_a to_o all_o savoury_a mind_n that_o have_v wait_v for_o he_o and_o they_o that_o so_o wait_v long_o and_o covet_v after_o the_o fruit_n of_o the_o spirit_n and_o sow_v thereto_o shall_v much_o increase_v therein_o but_o as_o this_o be_v not_o by_o bodily_a exercise_n so_o it_o may_v not_o be_v by_o rest_v in_o spiritual_a employment_n already_o do_v but_o a_o press_v forward_o towards_o the_o mark_n of_o the_o high_a call_n of_o god_n in_o christ_n jesus_n and_o ever_o follow_v that_o they_o feel_v to_o grow_v therein_o towards_o perfection_n for_o otherwise_o there_o will_v be_v a_o sudden_a settle_v upon_o the_o old_a lees_n and_o so_o a_o decline_a to_o loss_n and_o the_o end_n without_o profit_n or_o comfort_n as_o some_o apostate_n who_o have_v say_v they_o have_v go_v round_o back_o again_o etc._n etc._n and_o so_o lose_v not_o only_o their_o hold_n of_o perfection_n but_o their_o first_o love_n and_o lead_v principle_n of_o god_n in_o they_o for_o there_o be_v first_o a_o beginning_n with_o rude_a soul_n and_o a_o change_n of_o the_o mind_n in_o the_o work_n of_o faith_n and_o then_o faith_n work_v by_o love_n and_o after_o that_o by_o the_o more_o strong_a clear_a and_o pure_a stir_n as_o feel_v in_o all_o active_a soul_n towards_o that_o life_n of_o perfect_a love_n for_o though_o the_o body_n of_o sin_n be_v at_o first_o see_v in_o the_o light_n then_o debase_v and_o in_o some_o sudden_o crucify_v yet_o it_o will_v be_v see_v feel_v and_o labour_v in_o and_o against_o until_o full_a victory_n be_v obtain_v as_o the_o belove_a paul_n say_v by_o his_o rejoice_v in_o christ_n jesus_n he_o die_v daily_o whereby_o the_o old_a feel_n of_o the_o body_n of_o sin_n come_v to_o be_v destroy_v and_o the_o soul_n bring_v into_o a_o new_a gracious_a feeling_n by_o the_o operation_n of_o the_o holy_a spirit_n to_o grow_v up_o in_o he_o who_o be_v the_o head_n of_o all_o principality_n and_o power_n vi_o these_o thing_n be_v so_o it_o high_o concern_v every_o man_n respective_o to_o weigh_v and_o wary_o consider_v his_o own_o way_n station_n and_o stand_v and_o to_o prize_v the_o time_n and_o ability_n that_o the_o lord_n love_v in_o christ_n jesus_n have_v allot_v he_o to_o wait_v and_o watch_v for_o his_o conversion_n reconciliation_n and_o salvation_n and_o to_o account_v the_o time_n misspend_v and_o irrecoverable_o pass_v sufficient_a to_o have_v do_v the_o will_n of_o the_o flesh_n in_o think_v his_o own_o thought_n speak_v his_o own_o word_n and_o act_v contrary_a to_o the_o eternal_a counsel_n and_o will_n and_o that_o the_o present_a time_n be_v only_a man_n to_o make_v his_o and_o retain_v he_o in_o she_o bear_v it_o marry_o magdalen_n love_v christ_n well_o before_o his_o passion_n of_o bodily_a death_n but_o her_o love_n be_v much_o bodily_a and_o little_a spiritual_o for_o she_o love_v he_o not_o as_o god_n before_o though_o her_o thought_n and_o affection_n be_v set_v upon_o he_o in_o which_o affection_n or_o action_n express_v her_o love_n christ_n condemn_v she_o not_o in_o that_o time_n so_o far_o as_o we_o find_v but_o after_o when_o he_o be_v rise_v from_o death_n and_o appear_v unto_o she_o she_o will_v have_v reverence_v he_o with_o such_o a_o manner_n of_o love_n as_o she_o do_v before_o and_o then_o christ_n forbid_v she_o say_v touch_v i_o not_o as_o look_v not_o on_o i_o with_o a_o fleshly_a eye_n to_o rest_v therein_o for_o so_o i_o be_o not_o ascend_v to_o my_o father_n nor_o equal_a to_o the_o father_n so_o but_o now_o love_v i_o as_o i_o be_o one_o with_o the_o father_n in_o the_o form_n of_o the_o godhead_n know_v love_n that_o all_o spiritual_a gift_n be_v feel_v and_o taste_v in_o the_o power_n of_o the_o soul_n chief_o in_o love_n and_o spiritual_a understanding_n but_o not_o in_o imagination_n through_o the_o strength_n of_o the_o body_n or_o bodily_a wit_n which_o be_v not_o spiritual_a feeling_n and_o at_o most_o but_o outward_a token_n of_o spiritual_a inward_a feeling_n in_o the_o power_n of_o their_o soul_n where_o the_o holy_a ghost_n have_v light_v their_o reason_n and_o kindle_v their_o affection_n with_o his_o bless_a presence_n so_o clear_o in_o fervent_a love_n that_o they_o immediate_o thereby_o receive_v the_o knowledge_n of_o spiritual_a truth_n and_o perfect_a love_n with_o a_o outward_a show_v of_o of_o the_o inward_a feel_n of_o spiritual_a grace_n and_o as_o it_o be_v in_o the_o former_a disciple_n so_o it_o be_v now_o in_o other_o like-perfect_a soul_n visit_v and_o light_v within_o by_o the_o holy_a ghost_n whereby_o there_o be_v a_o outward_a feel_n of_o the_o inward_a grace_n and_o the_o body_n make_v obedient_a thereby_o to_o the_o spirit_n move_v and_o lead_v without_o fainedness_n or_o fancy_n of_o imagination_n and_o he_o be_v no_o spiritual_a man_n that_o have_v not_o thus_o learned_a christ_n or_o be_v teach_v his_o lesson_n by_o he_o in_o like_a spiritual_a wise_n nor_o any_o way_n qualify_v to_o judge_v of_o spiritual_a matter_n but_o must_v consequent_o err_v in_o his_o understanding_n and_o mar_v all_o he_o meddle_v with_o and_o not_o know_v how_o or_o wherein_o he_o so_o err_v much_o less_o how_o to_o amend_v his_o own_o crrour_n and_o how_o then_o shall_v he_o reform_v other_o but_o as_o a_o blind_a man_n may_v judge_v of_o colour_n because_o these_o spiritual_a thing_n be_v above_o the_o sight_n of_o his_o carnal_a eye_n so_o that_o he_o perceive_v they_o not_o that_o have_v not_o the_o spiritual_a eye_n of_o his_o understanding_n open_v and_o how_o then_o shall_v he_o open_v the_o scripture_n that_o as_o christ_n say_v neither_o know_v they_o nor_o the_o power_n of_o god_n or_o be_v skilled_a in_o the_o use_n of_o his_o spiritual_a weapon_n his_o warfare_n or_o work_n to_o be_v do_v in_o his_o vineyard_n or_o know_v of_o the_o love_n of_o god_n than_o other_o that_o have_v that_o gift_n in_o the_o way_n towards_o perfect_a feeling_n in_o as_o much_o as_o the_o feel_n show_v more_o outward_o by_o their_o fervour_n in_o bodily_a token_n as_o in_o weep_v pray_v speak_a and_o other_o bodily_a stir_n and_o strive_n that_o some_o other_o will_v think_v they_o ravish_v with_o love_n etc._n etc._n yet_o still_o consider_v that_o these_o stir_n and_o strive_n be_v of_o god_n to_o stay_v they_o from_o the_o worldly_a love_n and_o lust_n of_o the_o flesh_n that_o have_v so_o long_o be_v root_v in_o their_o heart_n from_o which_o worldly_a love_n they_o may_v not_o be_v draw_v out_o by_o such_o feeble_a stir_n of_o great_a fervour_n and_o outward_a strength_n which_o be_v no_o true_a token_n of_o much_o love_n but_o of_o weakness_n and_o little_a love_n in_o their_o soul_n that_o can_v bear_v a_o little_a touch_v of_o god_n for_o it_o be_v yet_o fleshly_a and_o fasten_v thereto_o and_o not_o mortify_v there_o from_o by_o the_o work_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n for_o the_o touch_n seem_v so_o quick_a and_o also_o delectable_a over_o all_o thing_n feel_v before_o in_o fleshly_a love_n of_o earthly_a thing_n that_o it_o be_v over-taken_a with_o it_o for_o that_o it_o be_v so_o new_a sudden_a and_o strange_a that_o the_o body_n can_v well_o bear_v it_o but_o break_v out_o into_o weep_n bodily_a stir_n and_o other_o action_n as_o christ_n say_v the_o old_a bottle_n will_v break_v and_o not_o hold_v the_o new_a wine_n but_o that_o god_n keep_v it_o whole_a in_o mercy_n let_v it_o break_v out_o into_o tear_n and_o word_n through_o weakness_n and_o feebleness_n of_o soul_n and_o not_o because_o of_o much_o love_n as_o some_o may_v suppose_v but_o afterward_o when_o through_o love_n the_o uncleanness_n be_v melt_v out_o of_o the_o soul_n by_o such_o fervour_n then_o be_v the_o love_n clear_a and_o stand_v still_o and_o then_o perfect_a love_n cast_v out_o fear_n then_o be_v the_o soul_n in_o peace_n and_o much_o more_o in_o love_n then_o before_o though_o it_o show_v less_o outward_a for_o it_o be_v now_o all_o whole_a at_z rest_z within_z and_o little_o appear_v outward_o for_o in_o the_o first_o state_n such_o feeling_n come_v to_o the_o soul_n sudden_o before_o it_o be_v well_o aware_a and_o as_o it_o come_v before_o the_o soul_n know_v it_o so_o it_o oft_o return_v or_o depart_v without_o its_o knowledge_n neither_o can_v the_o soul_n tell_v how_o to_o come_v to_o that_o state_n again_o no_o know_v where_o to_o find_v it_o for_o the_o thought_n be_v not_o yet_o keep_v within_o in_o the_o light_n with_o a_o firm_a long_a desire_n to_o jesus_n christ_n nor_o the_o eye_n of_o the_o soul_n keep_v open_a and_o near_o to_o the_o spiritual_a behold_v of_o heavenly_a thing_n and_o so_o the_o heart_n be_v not_o fix_v and_o than_o what_o weakness_n and_o unsuitableness_n be_v in_o all_o without_o stedfasness_n firm_a faith_n and_o full_a intent_n to_o god_n to_o know_v his_o secret_n and_o obey_v his_o will_n and_o it_o be_v always_o to_o be_v diligent_o mind_v that_o there_o be_v two_o manner_n of_o feeling_n the_o one_o inward_a according_a to_o man_n bodily_a wit_n and_o skill_n and_o the_o other_o more_o inward_a or_o within_o that_o be_v of_o spiritual_a light_n wisdom_n and_o skill_n which_o the_o holy_a ghost_n teach_v and_o plant_v in_o
the_o power_n of_o the_o soul_n so_o there_o be_v a_o meekness_n that_o be_v gain_v by_o the_o work_n of_o reason_n in_o fleshly_a feel_n and_o another_o that_o be_v deep_o feel_v in_o the_o soul_n and_o be_v the_o free_a and_o spiritual_a gift_n of_o love_n and_o it_o be_v a_o full_a hard_a thing_n and_o a_o great_a mystery_n to_o he_o that_o stand_v in_o the_o work_n of_o his_o own_o reason_n of_o god_n and_o as_o the_o worst_a of_o creature_n worthy_a of_o all_o suffering_n and_o thus_o thrust_v himself_o down_o under_o all_o other_o and_o grieve_v in_o his_o heart_n when_o he_o be_v overcome_v by_o any_o temptation_n confess_v accuse_v himself_o and_o ask_v forgiveness_n etc._n etc._n but_o this_o be_v not_o perfect_a meekness_n for_o it_o come_v of_o beginning_n to_o profit_n in_o grace_n cause_v by_o behold_v of_o sin_n and_o this_o be_v the_o meekness_n that_o love_n work_v by_o the_o reason_n of_o the_o soul_n but_o perfect_a meekness_n the_o soul_n feel_v of_o the_o sight_n and_o spiritual_a knowledge_n of_o jesus_n christ_n see_v he_o to_o be_v all_o and_o do_v all_o in_o the_o soul_n and_o for_o it_o and_o have_v so_o great_a love_n and_o joy_n in_o that_o spiritual_a sight_n that_o it_o forget_v itself_o after_o a_o sort_n and_o lean_v to_o jesus_n christ_n with_o all_o the_o love_n it_o have_v to_o behold_v he_o and_o heed_v not_o any_o unworthiness_n world_n as_o see_v it_o so_o little_a and_o nought_o in_o regard_n of_o the_o joy_n and_o love_v the_o soul_n feel_v in_o the_o spiritual_a sight_n of_o jesus_n christ_n and_o knowledge_n of_o his_o purity_n and_o holiness_n that_o though_o he_o may_v have_v all_o worldly_a joy_n and_o worship_n without_o sin_n yet_o he_o will_v not_o meddle_v with_o it_o the_o world_n have_v no_o savour_n in_o this_o meekness_n but_o be_v exceed_v far_o from_o it_o it_o be_v the_o lover_n of_o jesus_n christ_n only_a that_o have_v this_o meekness_n abide_v in_o he_o with_o like_n and_o gladness_n and_o that_o without_o any_o heaviness_n or_o stir_v for_o it_o but_o the_o world_n have_v a_o proud_a meekness_n belong_v to_o a_o hypocrite_n without_o this_o joy_n or_o gladness_n by_o the_o gift_n of_o sin_n contending_n for_o grace_n and_o wrangling_n about_o it_o and_o therefore_o be_v like_o wrestler_n sometime_o above_o and_o soon_o again_o underneath_o up_o and_o down_o in_o and_o out_o off_o and_o on_o get_v and_o lose_v and_o so_o weary_a their_o wit_n and_o tire_v themselves_o because_o all_o this_o strive_v be_v in_o their_o own_o reason_n might_n and_o strength_n of_o self-will_n as_o fight_n with_o themselves_o but_o neither_o in_o true_a savour_n nor_o love_n and_o therefore_o have_v not_o the_o victory_n or_o upper_a hand_n of_o what_o they_o strive_v about_o and_o such_o must_v
