he_o set_v the_o soul_n at_o a_o everlasting_a distance_n with_o his_o sin_n never_o to_o be_v reconcile_v and_o look_n to_o the_o lord_n that_o by_o his_o word_n and_o spirit_n he_o will_v subdue_v they_o that_o so_o he_o may_v see_v the_o death_n of_o they_o and_o he_o side_n with_o the_o lord_n in_o the_o use_n of_o all_o mean_n come_v to_o the_o word_n and_o come_v to_o prayer_n and_o say_v speak_v against_o my_o sin_n lord_n lord_n waste_v these_o distemper_n and_o so_o the_o soul_n be_v thus_o at_o variance_n with_o his_o sin_n although_o his_o temptation_n do_v get_v wind_n and_o hittite_n and_o canaanitess_n and_o perizzites_n before_o you_o but_o i_o will_v do_v it_o by_o little_a and_o little_a there_o be_v many_o a_o christian_n that_o find_v within_o himself_o a_o spirit_n of_o warfare_n against_o his_o sin_n and_o do_v he_o examine_v himself_o he_o shall_v find_v a_o spirit_n of_o victory_n but_o he_o think_v he_o have_v none_o because_o his_o victory_n be_v not_o complete_a if_o he_o have_v a_o heart_n so_o to_o believe_v as_o never_o to_o doubt_v more_o and_o such_o quicken_a as_o never_o to_o be_v dead_a more_o never_o to_o depart_v from_o god_n more_o now_o i_o shall_v think_v the_o word_n come_v with_o power_n but_o i_o find_v that_o these_o evil_n prevail_v against_o i_o there_o be_v many_o a_o one_o do_v scorn_v the_o kindness_n of_o christ_n because_o he_o find_v not_o complete_a victory_n but_o darkness_n remain_v still_o and_o sinful_a lust_n remain_v still_o therefore_o the_o word_n do_v i_o no_o good_a at_o all_o say_v he_o the_o gospel-live_n and_o be_v there_o more_o law-peaching_a in_o england_n by_o the_o man_n of_o gift_n there_o will_v be_v more_o gospel-walking_a both_o by_o themselves_o and_o the_o people_n to_o preach_v the_o law_n not_o in_o a_o force_a affect_a manner_n but_o wise_o and_o powerful_o together_o with_o the_o gospel_n as_o christ_n himself_o be_v wont_a to_o do_v mat._n 5._o and_o elsewhere_o be_v the_o way_n to_o carry_v on_o all_o three_o together_o sense_n of_o misery_n the_o application_n of_o the_o remedy_n and_o the_o return_n of_o thankfulness_n and_o duty_n nor_o be_v any_o doctrine_n more_o comfort_v then_o this_o humble_v way_n of_o god_n if_o right_o manage_v it_o be_v certain_a the_o foundation_n of_o after-sorrowe_n and_o ruin_n to_o the_o church_n have_v ever_o be_v lay_v in_o the_o day_n of_o her_o prosperity_n and_o peace_n and_o rest_n when_o she_o enjoy_v all_o her_o pleasant_a thing_n this_o the_o watchman_n of_o israel_n shall_v foresee_v and_o shall_v be_v a_o day_n of_o liberty_n to_o the_o saint_n to_o serve_v god_n may_v become_v a_o day_n of_o great_a seduction_n and_o of_o liberty_n to_o seduce_a spirit_n to_o deceive_v and_o damn_v and_o mislead_v they_o from_o the_o truth_n and_o way_n of_o god_n but_o the_o machination_n of_o man_n though_o in_o conjunction_n with_o the_o power_n and_o gate_n of_o hell_n shall_v certain_o fall_v at_o last_o before_o truth_n and_o prayer_n and_o of_o this_o be_v the_o first_o treatise_n which_o be_v seasonable_o publish_v to_o be_v fast_o bind_v to_o the_o rule_n with_o all_o the_o there_o be_v much_o hear_n but_o little_a effectual_a hear_n man_n stand_v like_o the_o oak_n of_o bashan_n before_o the_o word_n of_o the_o god_n of_o israel_n no_o terror_n of_o the_o lord_n no_o news_n of_o everlasting_a destruction_n no_o evidence_n of_o the_o fierce_a anger_n of_o god_n upon_o they_o which_o burn_v down_o to_o the_o bottom_n of_o hell_n can_v take_v hold_n upon_o their_o spirit_n or_o awaken_v their_o conscience_n to_o make_v inquiry_n after_o god_n in_o this_o their_o day_n yea_o if_o the_o bar_n of_o the_o pit_n of_o hell_n be_v break_v and_o if_o the_o devil_n of_o hell_n shall_v come_v fly_v up_o among_o we_o in_o our_o solemn_a assembly_n from_o the_o fiery_a corner_n of_o the_o pit_n below_o with_o everlasting_a burn_n about_o their_o ear_n and_o with_o chain_n of_o darkness_n rattle_v at_o their_o heel_n they_o may_v fright_v man_n out_o of_o their_o wit_n perhaps_o or_o from_o the_o act_n of_o sin_n it_o may_v be_v for_o a_o time_n but_o it_o profit_v by_o read_v or_o hear_v take_v every_o word_n as_o a_o special_a message_n to_o thou_o from_o god_n and_o of_o this_o fruitless_a hear_n and_o the_o rule_n of_o hear_v aright_o be_v the_o people_n his_o people_n do_v or_o shall_v subject_v cheerful_o to_o this_o government_n by_o my_o service_n be_v therefore_o mean_v my_o government_n and_o your_o subjection_n wrought_v by_o i_o to_o hurt_v do_v by_o a_o admonition_n then_o by_o the_o sin_n when_o administer_v in_o passion_n and_o without_o compassion_n hence_o under_o pretence_n of_o liberty_n extreme_a licentiousness_n 4._o imperiousness_n of_o spirit_n arise_v from_o a_o frothy_a emptiness_n and_o a_o overween_a opinion_n and_o conceitednesse_n of_o their_o own_o ability_n and_o wisdom_n above_o other_o and_o hence_o will_v not_o be_v lead_v be_v at_o liberty_n by_o the_o council_n and_o advice_n of_o other_o it_o be_v natural_a for_o man_n to_o affect_v sovereignty_n and_o when_o the_o time_n come_v of_o
