and_o by_o certain_a mark_n and_o testimony_n in_o our_o own_o heart_n to_o prove_v that_o we_o be_v in_o the_o number_n of_o god_n elect._n for_o as_o solomon_n say_v 27.19_o pro._n 27.19_o as_o water_n show_v face_n to_o face_n even_o so_o the_o heart_n show_v man_n to_o man_n even_o as_o a_o glass_n show_v what_o a_o man_n face_n be_v so_o will_v a_o man_n heart_n and_o conscience_n show_v what_o man_n be_v in_o the_o sight_n of_o god_n then_o if_o you_o will_v now_o know_v whether_o your_o name_n be_v write_v in_o the_o book_n of_o life_n that_o be_v whether_o you_o be_v the_o elect_a of_o god_n and_o heir_n of_o eternal_a life_n you_o must_v now_o enter_v into_o your_o own_o soul_n 13_o 2_o cor._n 13_o prove_v yourselves_o and_o you_o shall_v certain_o know_v whether_o you_o shall_v be_v save_v or_o damn_v for_o if_o thou_o find_v in_o thou_o the_o true_a mark_n and_o note_n of_o god_n child_n thou_o need_v not_o fear_v but_o that_o thy_o name_n be_v in_o this_o book_n and_o thou_o shall_v certain_o be_v save_v but_o as_o for_o wicked_a and_o profane_a man_n and_o woman_n that_o make_v no_o conscience_n of_o sin_n they_o shall_v in_o spite_n of_o their_o tooth_n word_n of_o god_n some_o certain_a mark_n of_o god_n child_n the_o first_o mark_n whereby_o we_o may_v know_v whether_o we_o be_v elect_v or_o not_o be_v the_o inward_a testimony_n and_o witness_n of_o god_n spirit_n 8.15_o rom._n 8.15_o you_o have_v not_o receive_v the_o spirit_n of_o bondage_n to_o fear_v again_o but_o you_o have_v etc._n etc._n whereby_o saint_n paul_n tell_v we_o that_o wicked_a and_o ungodly_a sinner_n which_o have_v not_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n to_o guide_v they_o but_o live_v in_o sin_n they_o have_v only_o the_o spirit_n of_o bondage_n they_o have_v no_o true_a peace_n in_o their_o soul_n but_o they_o that_o be_v the_o child_n of_o god_n have_v the_o spirit_n of_o adoption_n who_o seal_v unto_o our_o heart_n the_o assurance_n of_o our_o adoption_n and_o election_n and_o do_v make_v it_o know_v unto_o we_o that_o we_o be_v the_o son_n of_o god_n for_o his_o spirit_n do_v witness_n to_o our_o spirit_n that_o we_o be_v the_o son_n of_o god_n roman_n 8.16_o and_o that_o no_o man_n may_v deceive_v himself_o and_o think_v he_o have_v the_o testimony_n of_o god_n spirit_n when_o he_o have_v it_o not_o saint_n paul_n give_v we_o two_o most_o excellent_a note_n to_o know_v whether_o we_o have_v the_o testimony_n of_o god_n spirit_n yea_o or_o not_o it_o make_v we_o cry_v abba_n father_n where_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n do_v witness_n to_o any_o man_n soul_n that_o he_o be_v the_o child_n of_o god_n it_o will_v make_v he_o cry_v to_o god_n and_o even_o fill_v heaven_n and_o earth_n with_o cry_v and_o tear_n with_o sob_n and_o sigh_n for_o the_o pardon_n of_o his_o sin_n and_o he_o which_o have_v not_o this_o in_o he_o that_o he_o can_v cry_v unto_o god_n for_o pardon_n of_o his_o sin_n this_o man_n can_v not_o true_o assure_v himself_o that_o he_o be_v the_o child_n of_o god_n and_o though_o man_n say_v they_o hope_v to_o be_v save_v yet_o alas_o they_o seldom_o or_o never_o pray_v unto_o god_n for_o the_o pardon_n of_o their_o sin_n second_o if_o we_o find_v the_o testimony_n of_o god_n spirit_n that_o we_o be_v the_o child_n of_o god_n it_o will_v make_v we_o not_o only_o to_o be_v earnest_n with_o god_n for_o pardon_n of_o our_o sin_n but_o it_o will_v make_v we_o cry_v abba_n father_n that_o be_v it_o will_v make_v we_o bear_v the_o tender_a affection_n of_o a_o dutiful_a child_n so_o as_o we_o shall_v be_v afraid_a to_o offend_v so_o love_v a_o father_n and_o therefore_o all_o those_o which_o delight_n in_o sin_n and_o be_v not_o afraid_a to_o offend_v god_n sure_o they_o can_v find_v no_o assurance_n that_o they_o be_v the_o child_n of_o god_n and_o therefore_o if_o you_o desire_v to_o be_v assure_v that_o the_o name_n be_v in_o this_o book_n labour_v to_o find_v this_o testimony_n of_o god_n spirit_n to_o witness_v unto_o your_o soul_n that_o you_o belong_v unto_o god_n and_o labour_n to_o be_v earnest_a in_o prayer_n unto_o god_n for_o that_o be_v a_o special_a work_n of_o god_n spirit_n 2.12_o 1._o cor._n 2.12_o the_o second_o mean_n whereby_o we_o may_v know_v whether_o our_o name_n be_v write_v in_o the_o book_n of_o life_n be_v by_o the_o word_n of_o god._n for_o the_o word_n of_o god_n tell_v we_o whosoever_o believe_v in_o christ_n jesu_n shall_v be_v save_v but_o the_o child_n of_o god_n hear_v this_o promise_n open_v and_o apply_v by_o the_o ministry_n of_o god_n word_n be_v able_a to_o say_v i_o believe_v and_o be_o able_a to_o apply_v this_o promise_n to_o myself_o for_o no_o man_n have_v faith_n but_o he_o know_v that_o he_o have_v it_o and_o therefore_o can_v say_v see_v i_o believe_v with_o all_o my_o heart_n sure_o i_o know_v i_o shall_v be_v save_v three_o beside_o the_o bless_a testimony_n of_o god_n spirit_n which_o can_v deceive_v he_o breathe_v and_o can_v judge_v of_o the_o tree_n by_o the_o fruit_n even_o so_o by_o the_o effect_n of_o election_n we_o may_v know_v whether_o our_o name_n be_v in_o the_o book_n of_o life_n or_o not_o now_o the_o fruit_n of_o election_n be_v set_v down_o by_o the_o holie-ghost_n that_o all_o man_n may_v be_v able_a to_o examine_v and_o try_v themselves_o and_o know_v whether_o they_o be_v ordain_v to_o life_n or_o not_o who_o god_n predestinate_v 8.30_o rom._n 8.30_o they_o also_o he_o call_v and_o who_o he_o call_v they_o also_o he_o justify_v and_o who_o he_o justify_v they_o also_o he_o glorify_v where_o we_o may_v behold_v the_o mark_n of_o our_o election_n for_o all_o that_o be_v elect_v to_o life_n eternal_a and_o be_v write_v in_o this_o book_n they_o be_v first_o call_v second_o justify_v and_o three_o sanctify_v so_o then_o if_o you_o will_v know_v whether_o you_o be_v elect_v to_o life_n look_v to_o these_o three_o effect_n of_o election_n be_v thou_o call_v be_v thou_o justify_v be_v thou_o sanctify_v then_o sure_o thou_o be_v elect_v but_o if_o thou_o have_v not_o these_o three_o then_o can_v thou_o not_o assure_v thyself_o of_o thy_o salvation_n so_o then_o the_o first_o fruit_n of_o our_o election_n be_v our_o effectual_a call_v when_o as_o god_n do_v by_o the_o preach_a of_o the_o gospel_n call_v we_o out_o of_o the_o world_n from_o our_o old_a sin_n to_o be_v of_o the_o number_n of_o his_o people_n to_o live_v as_o his_o child_n again_o when_o a_o man_n come_v to_o the_o preach_n of_o the_o word_n to_o see_v his_o sin_n and_o god_n anger_n for_o they_o dislike_v they_o be_v grieve_v for_o they_o bewail_v they_o and_o beg_v the_o pardon_n for_o they_o and_o begin_v to_o become_v a_o new_a man_n to_o believe_v in_o christ_n jesu_n to_o seek_v after_o god_n kingdom_n he_o which_o find_v this_o effectual_a call_n in_o he_o he_o may_v assure_v his_o soul_n that_o he_o be_v predestinate_v to_o eternal_a life_n but_o we_o must_v take_v heed_n that_o we_o deceive_v not_o ourselves_o with_o a_o outward_a call_n for_o our_o saviour_n say_v 22._o mat._n 22._o many_o be_v call_v but_o few_o be_v choose_v many_o do_v hear_v the_o word_n of_o god_n with_o the_o ear_n but_o we_o must_v labour_v to_o find_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n to_o preach_v unto_o our_o soul_n to_o apply_v the_o word_n to_o our_o conscience_n to_o believe_v it_o and_o to_o obey_v it_o and_o therefore_o they_o which_o live_v in_o their_o old_a sin_n as_o blind_a ignorant_a and_o profane_a as_o ever_o before_o alas_o how_o can_v they_o think_v to_o be_v save_v see_v god_n choose_v none_o or_o save_v not_o any_o but_o who_o he_o call_v effectual_o by_o the_o gospel_n 2.13_o 2_o thess_n 2.13_o and_o sever_v from_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o world_n second_o the_o fruit_n of_o election_n be_v justification_n for_o who_o he_o predestinate_v they_o he_o call_v so_o then_o here_o be_v a_o other_o token_n and_o mark_n to_o know_v whether_o we_o be_v elect_v namely_o or_o justify_v now_o this_o be_v
the_o three_o thing_n wherein_o this_o second_o death_n do_v consist_v be_v that_o all_o reprobate_n shall_v be_v punish_v with_o everlasting_a perdition_n they_o shall_v be_v torment_v in_o body_n and_o soul_n with_o unspeakable_a torment_n the_o wrath_n and_o vengeance_n of_o god_n shall_v seize_v upon_o they_o and_o feed_v on_o they_o as_o fire_n do_v on_o pitch_n or_o brimstone_n where_o they_o shall_v be_v ever_o burn_v and_o boil_v and_o yet_o never_o consume_v ever_o in_o pain_n and_o torment_n and_o never_o have_v ease_n and_o to_o show_v the_o wonderful_a torment_n of_o hell_n of_o this_o second_o death_n our_o saviour_n compare_v it_o unto_o a_o furnace_n of_o fire_n 13.24_o mat._n 13.24_o now_o what_o a_o woeful_a torment_n be_v it_o to_o be_v cast_v into_o a_o furnace_n of_o fire_n and_o to_o lie_v many_o thousand_o year_n therein_o this_o be_v a_o torment_n that_o can_v be_v express_v again_o he_o say_v that_o their_o worm_n sh_n will_v not_o die_v 66.24_o esay_n 66.24_o and_o their_o fire_n shall_v not_o be_v quench_v now_o how_o shall_v a_o man_n do_v if_o he_o shall_v have_v a_o worm_n always_o crawl_v in_o his_o belly_n gnaw_v always_o at_o his_o heart_n this_o be_v the_o estate_n of_o all_o wicked_a man_n and_o woman_n they_o shall_v always_o have_v a_o worm_n even_o grief_n and_o anguish_n of_o heart_n ever_o gnaw_v at_o their_o heart_n and_o bite_v at_o their_o conscience_n and_o this_o worm_n shall_v never_o die_v nor_o kill_v they_o but_o ever_o gnaw_v and_o wound_v they_o so_o than_o you_o see_v by_o this_o which_o have_v be_v speak_v what_o this_o second_o death_n be_v and_o also_o wherein_o it_o do_v consist_v now_o all_o the_o question_n will_v be_v who_o shall_v be_v cast_v into_o this_o lake_n of_o fire_n who_o be_v they_o that_o shall_v die_v this_o second_o death_n death_n who_o they_o be_v that_o shall_v partake_v of_o the_o second_o death_n which_o be_v such_o a_o miserable_a and_o woeful_a death_n for_o there_o be_v no_o man_n nor_o woman_n that_o live_v i_o think_v but_o they_o suppose_v that_o they_o shall_v escape_v this_o death_n they_o hope_v that_o they_o shall_v be_v save_v and_o so_o escape_v this_o flame_a fire_n and_o therefore_o now_o you_o shall_v see_v who_o they_o be_v that_o shall_v be_v cast_v into_o it_o look_v they_o be_v there_o mark_v out_o unto_o we_o reu._n 21.8_o the_o fearful_a and_o unbeliever_n and_o abominable_a and_o murderer_n and_o whoremonger_n and_o sorcerer_n and_o liar_n etc._n etc._n shall_v have_v their_o part_n in_o the_o lake_n that_o burn_v with_o fire_n and_o brimstone_n which_o be_v the_o second_o death_n so_o than_o rhe_n holy-ghost_n tell_v we_o that_o all_o impenitent_a sinner_n shall_v be_v damn_v 6.10_o 1_o cor._n 6.10_o shall_v be_v cast_v into_o this_o lake_n of_o fire_n which_o be_v the_o second_o death_n then_o what_o a_o strange_a thing_n be_v this_o the_o holy-ghost_n tell_v we_o who_o shall_v be_v damn_v and_o cast_v into_o the_o lake_n of_o fire_n all_o impenitent_a sinner_n the_o blasphemer_n the_o drunkard_n etc._n etc._n and_o yet_o no_o man_n almost_o will_v believe_v this_o well_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n can_v lie_v he_o say_v that_o all_o the_o wicked_a and_o ungodlie_a sinner_n shall_v be_v cast_v into_o the_o lake_n of_o fire_n which_o be_v the_o second_o death_n now_o tell_v never_o so_o wicked_a a_o wretch_n of_o his_o sin_n of_o his_o swear_n etc._n etc._n and_o what_o will_v they_o say_v tush_o god_n be_v merciful_a i_o hope_v i_o shall_v be_v save_v be_v not_o this_o i_o pray_v to_o give_v the_o holy-ghost_n the_o lie_n tell_v the_o drunkard_n or_o the_o profaner_n of_o the_o lord_n day_n etc._n etc._n they_o shall_v be_v damn_v do_v they_o believe_v this_o oh_o no_o no_o for_o if_o they_o do_v believe_v it_o how_o dare_v they_o be_v so_o bold_a to_o live_v in_o sin_n well_o howsoever_o these_o vile_a wretch_n say_v they_o hope_v to_o be_v save_v aswell_o as_o the_o best_a of_o they_o all_o yet_o know_v this_o be_v the_o truth_n of_o god_n the_o holy-ghost_n tell_v we_o plain_o that_o all_o unbeliever_n and_o thief_n and_o murderer_n etc._n etc._n shall_v be_v cast_v into_o the_o lake_n of_o fire_n and_o brimstone_n which_o be_v the_o second_o death_n but_o to_o you_o who_o heart_n do_v tremble_v for_o fear_n of_o these_o thing_n who_o soul_n do_v melt_v for_o fear_n of_o this_o second_o death_n now_o if_o you_o will_v know_v how_o to_o escape_v this_o lake_n of_o fire_n and_o how_o to_o avoid_v this_o second_o death_n which_o be_v the_o eternal_a damnation_n and_o torment_n both_o of_o body_n and_o soul_n you_o shall_v see_v how_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n do_v not_o only_o show_v you_o how_o to_o escape_v hell_n but_o to_o come_v to_o heaven_n not_o only_o to_o avoid_v damnation_n in_o this_o lake_n of_o fire_n but_o to_o obtain_v salvation_n and_o joy_n in_o the_o bless_a and_o glorious_a presence_n of_o almighty_a god_n for_o evermore_o now_o see_v what_o the_o holy-ghost_n do_v teach_v thou_o in_o the_o six_o verse_n of_o this_o chapter_n bless_a and_o holy_a be_v he_o that_o have_v his_o part_n in_o the_o first_o resurrection_n for_o on_o such_o the_o second_o death_n shall_v have_v no_o power_n but_o they_o shall_v be_v the_o priest_n of_o god_n and_o of_o christ_n and_o shall_v reign_v with_o he_o a_o thousand_o year_n that_o be_v for_o evermore_o so_o then_o will_v you_o know_v what_o manner_n of_o man_n and_o woman_n shall_v escape_v the_o second_o death_n and_o eternal_a damnation_n in_o this_o lake_n of_o hell_n fire_n why_o the_o holy-ghost_n say_v they_o and_o none_o but_o they_o that_o have_v their_o part_n in_o the_o first_o resurrection_n so_o than_o it_o be_v manifest_a in_o these_o word_n that_o there_o be_v two_o resurrection_n and_o also_o a_o double_a death_n the_o child_n of_o god_n they_o have_v a_o double_a resurrection_n and_o one_o death_n but_o all_o wicked_a and_o ungodly_a sinner_n they_o have_v one_o resurrection_n and_o a_o double_a death_n so_o then_o let_v we_o see_v what_o be_v mean_v by_o this_o first_o resurrection_n namely_o our_o rise_n out_o of_o the_o grave_n of_o sin_n to_o newness_n of_o life_n this_o be_v the_o first_o resurrection_n 2.1_o ephes_n 2.1_o you_o that_o be_v dead_a in_o trespass_n and_o sin_n have_v he_o quicken_v 6.4_o rom._n 6.4_o and_o we_o be_v bury_v with_o christ_n in_o baptism_n that_o like_a as_o he_o rise_v again_o to_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o father_n even_o so_o we_o shall_v walk_v in_o newness_n of_o life_n so_o then_o will_v you_o know_v whether_o you_o shall_v escape_v eternal_a fire_n in_o hell_n even_o this_o second_o death_n then_o look_v unto_o your_o own_o soul_n be_v you_o dead_a to_o all_o your_o old_a sin_n and_o new_a sin_n be_v you_o quicken_v in_o the_o inner_a man_n do_v you_o hate_v sin_n as_o well_o when_o it_o be_v commit_v by_o yourself_o as_o by_o other_o do_v you_o labour_v to_o mortify_v and_o to_o keep_v under_o the_o work_n of_o the_o flesh_n and_o walk_v in_o all_o holy_a duty_n and_o obedience_n both_o unto_o god_n and_o man_n 8.1_o rom._n 8.1_o for_o there_o be_v no_o condemnation_n to_o they_o that_o be_v in_o christ_n which_o walk_v not_o after_o the_o flesh_n but_o after_o the_o spirit_n bless_a and_o holy_a be_v they_o that_o have_v part_n in_o the_o first_o resurrection_n where_o he_o show_v that_o none_o shall_v be_v bless_v none_o shall_v have_v part_n in_o the_o first_o resurrection_n and_o be_v free_v from_o the_o second_o death_n but_o such_o as_o be_v sanctify_v to_o live_v a_o godly_a life_n that_o be_v partaker_n of_o the_o first_o resurrection_n and_o therefore_o if_o you_o desire_v to_o be_v bless_v &_o to_o escape_v the_o second_o death_n which_o be_v the_o everlasting_a damnation_n both_o of_o body_n and_o soul_n then_o labour_v here_o to_o live_v a_o godly_a life_n for_o these_o two_o justification_n and_o sanctification_n can_v be_v sever_v and_o this_o be_v a_o very_a great_a comfort_n to_o all_o the_o true_a member_n of_o christ_n use_v that_o do_v repent_v and_o leave_v their_o sin_n and_o live_v a_o godly_a life_n though_o they_o be_v in_o misery_n in_o poverty_n in_o want_n and_o in_o the_o end_n die_v the_o first_o death_n of_o the_o body_n yet_o they_o shall_v be_v free_v from_o the_o second_o death_n that_o be_v from_o eternal_a death_n the_o gate_n of_o hell_n shall_v not_o prevail_v against_o they_o and_o therefore_o as_o you_o love_v your_o soul_n as_o you_o desire_v to_o be_v bless_v and_o to_o escape_v eternal_a damnation_n which_o be_v the_o second_o death_n labour_v i_o say_v to_o have_v a_o part_n in_o the_o first_o resurrection_n to_o die_v unto_o sin_n and_o to_o live_v in_o newness_n of_o life_n but_o
the_o doctrine_n be_v apparent_a man_n be_v first_o cast_v out_o of_o paradise_n for_o sin_n neither_o be_v there_o any_o thing_n that_o do_v hinder_v his_o return_n but_o only_a sin_n for_o it_o be_v sin_n that_o make_v we_o execrable_a to_o the_o lord_n and_o do_v hinder_v all_o good_a thing_n from_o us._n 38.4_o psal_n 38.4_o for_o as_o long_o as_o sin_n remain_v it_o be_v as_o a_o weighty_a deluge_n over_o the_o face_n of_o the_o whole_a earth_n what_o place_n be_v there_o leave_v more_o excellent_a than_o the_o ark_n in_o the_o which_o noah_n and_o his_o family_n be_v save_v and_o out_o of_o the_o which_o the_o whole_a world_n beside_o perish_v what_o be_v that_o ark_n but_o a_o type_n and_o figure_n of_o christ_n church_n wherein_o salvation_n be_v to_o be_v find_v and_o out_o of_o the_o which_o there_o be_v no_o salvation_n to_o be_v look_v for_o see_v therefore_o that_o remission_n of_o sin_n be_v proper_a only_a to_o christ_n church_n and_o that_o therein_o be_v salvation_n and_o authority_n and_o the_o truth_n be_v so_o neglect_v plain_a and_o simple_a tread_v under_o foot_n that_o it_o be_v hard_o for_o a_o man_n yea_o the_o true_a church_n of_o god_n sometime_o to_o discern_v where_o christ_n feed_v his_o flock_n 18.12_o 1._o reg._n 18.12_o when_o as_o elias_n be_v leave_v alone_o and_o baal_n four_o hundred_o and_o fifty_o prophet_n who_o can_v almost_o then_o so_o high_o of_o they_o as_o if_o they_o have_v no_o spot_n of_o sin_n or_o uncleanness_n though_o they_o in_o themselves_o be_v black_a deform_a and_o pollute_v yet_o all_o those_o who_o do_v true_o land_n and_o live_n be_v detain_v and_o take_v from_o they_o by_o unrighteous_a judge_n and_o that_o under_o colour_n of_o law_n well_o let_v man_n have_v patience_n and_o know_v this_o that_o there_o will_v come_v a_o day_n wherein_o there_o shall_v be_v justice_n and_o true_a judgement_n do_v unto_o they_o here_o thy_o cause_n shall_v be_v hear_v it_o shall_v be_v right_v for_o christ_n jesus_n will_v be_v a_o righteous_a judge_n for_o the_o poor_a the_o fatherless_a and_o the_o widow_n again_o we_o see_v how_o the_o member_n of_o christ_n which_o make_v conscience_n of_o sin_n and_o care_n of_o their_o life_n to_o hear_v the_o word_n and_o to_o walk_v according_o they_o be_v disgrace_v and_o despise_v of_o the_o world_n well_o let_v we_o learn_v here_o to_o possess_v our_o soul_n with_o patience_n for_o there_o will_v come_v a_o day_n of_o reckon_n when_o as_o our_o righteous_a cause_n will_v be_v hear_v and_o we_o shall_v have_v justice_n and_o all_o the_o contemner_n of_o christ_n as_o a_o saviour_n or_o mediator_n but_o as_o a_o judge_n it_o must_v admonish_v all_o man_n and_o woman_n now_o to_o repent_v and_o turn_v unto_o god_n in_o the_o time_n of_o mercy_n 55.6_o esay_n for_o who_o be_v it_o that_o curb_v leviathan_n snaffle_n the_o devil_n bridle_v his_o force_n and_o malice_n sure_o this_o our_o king_n who_o be_v it_o that_o cut_v the_o throat_n of_o sin_n in_o his_o member_n and_o take_v away_o the_o strength_n of_o sin_n sure_o this_o king_n of_o king_n who_o break_v the_o brass_n bar_v of_o death_n and_o pull_v out_o the_o sting_n of_o death_n our_o sin_n after_o this_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n sure_o it_o be_v none_o other_o in_o heaven_n or_o earth_n but_o this_o our_o gracious_a king_n who_o be_v the_o only_a immortal_a and_o wise_a god_n have_v the_o key_n of_o heaven_n and_o of_o the_o bottomless_a pit_n he_o alone_o can_v kill_v and_o make_v alive_a he_o alone_o can_v lift_v up_o to_o heaven_n and_o send_v to_o hell_n he_o alone_o and_o none_o but_o he_o can_v save_v and_o destroy_v o_o what_o a_o comfort_n be_v this_o unto_o all_o the_o poor_a member_n of_o christ_n jesn_n for_o what_o great_a joy_n and_o comfort_n can_v there_o be_v to_o any_o poor_a soul_n than_o this_o to_o know_v that_o he_o that_o be_v their_o judge_n be_v their_o saviour_n a_o sweet_a redeemer_n a_o merciful_a judge_n unto_o they_o he_o will_v never_o condemn_v his_o own_o member_n nay_o he_o will_v crown_v they_o with_o his_o own_o self_n and_o with_o his_o own_o glory_n use_v what_o must_v this_o teach_v we_o sure_o see_v our_o judge_n be_v a_o king_n and_o that_o he_o alone_o be_v able_a to_o save_v and_o to_o destroy_v this_o must_v teach_v we_o every_o man_n and_o woman_n in_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n to_o yield_v to_o this_o king_n that_o true_a loyalty_n that_o sincere_a obedience_n and_o service_n which_o this_o our_o king_n require_v of_o we_o in_o his_o bless_a word_n 1.6_o malac._n 1.6_o if_o i_o he_o a_o father_n where_o be_v of_o heart_n yield_v and_o resign_v ourselves_o body_n and_o soul_n to_o honour_v this_o king_n and_o to_o perform_v unto_o he_o true_a and_o spiritual_a obedience_n for_o evermore_o alas_o it_o be_v not_o external_a and_o outward_a service_n which_o he_o expect_v he_o be_v not_o like_o a_o earthly_a king_n but_o he_o regard_v the_o heart_n and_o the_o soul_n that_o be_v a_o special_a thing_n in_o his_o service_n and_o if_o we_o shall_v thus_o perform_v this_o spiritual_a service_n and_o obedience_n then_o we_o shall_v show_v ourselves_o to_o be_v his_o loyal_a and_o dutiful_a subject_n and_o then_o will_v he_o acknowledge_v we_o for_o his_o servant_n but_o if_o we_o deny_v to_o he_o this_o service_n of_o the_o heart_n and_o give_v it_o to_o any_o other_o he_o will_v then_o cast_v we_o off_o for_o evermore_o describe_v severity_n of_o the_o judge_n describe_v thus_o much_o of_o the_o majesty_n of_o the_o judge_n and_o of_o his_o sincerity_n and_o uprightness_n in_o judgement_n now_o in_o the_o description_n of_o the_o judge_n it_o be_v further_o add_v that_o from_o the_o face_n of_o this_o judge_n both_o the_o heaven_n and_o the_o earth_n flee_v away_o and_o this_o do_v show_v the_o wonderful_a severity_n of_o this_o great_a judge_n of_o heaven_n and_o earth_n we_o know_v that_o man_n fly_v those_o thing_n that_o they_o fear_v and_o dread_n so_o here_o the_o heaven_n and_o earth_n do_v fear_v the_o glorious_a presence_n of_o jesus_n christ_n the_o great_a judge_n of_o the_o whole_a world_n and_o seek_v to_o hide_v themselves_o that_o they_o may_v not_o appear_v before_o he_o this_o fly_v of_o the_o earth_n and_o the_o heaven_n and_o hide_v themselves_o that_o they_o dare_v not_o appear_v in_o the_o presence_n of_o christ_n this_o show_v the_o wonderful_a majesty_n and_o the_o great_a severity_n and_o terror_n of_o christ_n jesus_n the_o judge_n from_o whence_o we_o observe_v a_o threefold_a instruction_n the_o heaven_n and_o the_o earth_n use_v 1_o be_v void_a of_o sense_n they_o be_v great_a and_o mighty_a creature_n again_o they_o be_v very_o goodly_a and_o beautiful_a creature_n beside_o all_o this_o they_o never_o commit_v any_o sin_n how_o come_v it_o to_o pass_v then_o that_o they_o shall_v fly_v &_o hide_v themselves_o from_o the_o glorious_a presence_n of_o the_o son_n of_o god_n ans_fw-fr they_o never_o sin_v indeed_o but_o yet_o the_o sin_n whole_a heaven_n and_o make_v they_o that_o they_o dare_v not_o abide_v the_o glorious_a presence_n of_o god_n their_o creator_n o_o shall_v we_o not_o abhor_v sin_n as_o the_o vile_a thing_n in_o the_o world_n we_o be_v afraid_a of_o the_o plague_n because_o it_o infect_v and_o kill_v man_n body_n but_o the_o plague_n of_o sin_n be_v a_o thousand_o time_n and_o more_o to_o be_v abhor_v and_o flee_v from_o see_v it_o poison_n and_o infect_v both_o body_n and_o soul_n &_o be_v so_o contagious_a that_o the_o creature_n be_v afraid_a to_o behold_v the_o face_n of_o the_o son_n of_o god_n see_v both_o heaven_n and_o use_v 2_o earth_n shall_v fly_v and_o perish_v from_o before_o the_o glorious_a presence_n of_o christ_n jesus_n nay_o they_o shall_v burn_v with_o fire_n as_o peter_n say_v 2._o pet._n 3.10.11_o all_o these_o goodly_a house_n all_o thy_o gold_n and_o silver_n and_o costly_a apparel_n shall_v be_v burn_v with_o fire_n this_o may_v teach_v we_o moderation_n and_o sobriety_n in_o the_o use_n of_o god_n creature_n what_o folly_n be_v it_o to_o spend_v all_o that_o a_o man_n have_v to_o build_v a_o stately_a house_n and_o yet_o in_o the_o end_n it_o must_v be_v consume_v with_o fire_n and_o become_v nothing_o else_o but_o fuel_o for_o the_o fire_n that_o see_v the_o heaven_n and_o use_v 3_o the_o earth_n these_o great_a and_o mighty_a creature_n these_o beautiful_a and_o excellent_a work_n of_o almighty_a god_n power_n which_o have_v no_o sense_n nor_o feeling_n nor_o never_o sin_v if_o these_o shall_v fly_v before_o the_o son_n of_o god_n as_o be_v not_o able_a to_o endure_v his_o presence_n alas_o what_o shall_v wicked_a and_o hard-hearted_a sinner_n do_v what_o shall_v become_v of_o the_o vile_a wretch_n of_o the_o world_n which_o live_v and_o delight_n in_o sin_n where_o shall_v the_o ungodlie_a and_o sinner_n appear_v what_o will_v become_v of_o all_o ignorant_a soul_n what_o will_v become_v of_o the_o blasphemer_n and_o adulterer_n if_o the_o heaven_n and_o the_o earth_n these_o great_a and_o glorious_a creature_n which_o sin_v not_o shall_v not_o be_v able_a to_o stand_v in_o his_o presence_n then_o what_o i_o say_v will_v become_v of_o all_o profane_a and_o ungodly_a sinner_n alas_o they_o shall_v be_v even_o at_o their_o wit_n end_n not_o know_v in_o the_o world_n which_o way_n to_o turn_v they_o nor_o where_o to_o fly_v for_o succour_n where_o shall_v they_o seek_v for_o refuge_n when_o as_o the_o judge_n himself_o be_v their_o enemy_n who_o dare_v plead_v for_o they_o darenot_v any_o saint_n or_o angel_n no_o no_o no_o saint_n or_o angel_n dare_v open_v their_o mouth_n to_o speak_v one_o word_n in_o their_o behalf_n neither_o can_v any_o creature_n deliver_v they_o from_o the_o dreadful_a vengeance_n of_o this_o terrible_a judge_n verse_n 12._o and_o i_o see_v the_o dead_a both_o great_a and_o small_a thus_o have_v you_o see_v the_o person_n of_o the_o judge_n describe_v by_o his_o wonderful_a majesty_n and_o great_a and_o small_a etc._n etc._n before_o we_o come_v to_o speak_v of_o the_o word_n here_o may_v a_o question_n arise_v namely_o how_o this_o can_v be_v true_a that_o saint_n john_n say_v he_o see_v the_o dead_a both_o great_a and_o small_a for_o we_o believe_v that_o christ_n jesus_n shall_v judge_v both_o quick_a and_o dead_a not_o only_o the_o dead_a but_o the_o live_n and_o paul_n

the_o flock_n of_o the_o companion_n to_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n to_o flat_a idolatry_n for_o alas_o they_o know_v not_o the_o truth_n they_o be_v not_o teach_v of_o god_n they_o be_v blind_a
