these_o type_n he_o leave_v we_o in_o the_o flesh_n by_o which_o he_o will_v have_v draw_v man_n more_o near_o to_o himself_o in_o the_o divine_a nature_n and_o those_o very_a thing_n which_o shall_v have_v be_v something_o to_o have_v draw_v we_o into_o himself_o even_o by_o the_o policy_n of_o sin_n and_o satan_n and_o false_a teacher_n they_o have_v draw_v we_o from_o christ_n and_o so_o place_v christ_n in_o type_n and_o form_n and_o in_o this_o very_a way_n you_o have_v be_v teach_v to_o know_v christ_n and_o so_o be_v become_v the_o enemy_n of_o his_o cross_n and_o therefore_o for_o all_o the_o faith_n you_o pretend_v to_o have_v in_o christ_n and_o the_o comfort_n and_o strength_n you_o imagine_v to_o have_v get_v from_o the_o type_n be_v nothing_o but_o mere_a fancy_n and_o the_o delusion_n of_o the_o devil_n whereby_o he_o have_v beguile_v you_o by_o be_v a_o lie_a spirit_n in_o the_o mouth_n of_o your_o false_a minister_n for_o as_o yet_o the_o world_n and_o your_o own_o lust_n and_o liveliness_n of_o affection_n to_o create_a thing_n be_v yet_o in_o your_o heart_n and_o if_o you_o have_v be_v teach_v in_o the_o right_a way_n of_o apprehend_v christ_n and_z follow_v he_o it_o may_v have_v be_v your_o soul_n may_v have_v enjoy_v more_o of_o the_o divine_a nature_n then_o otherwise_o they_o have_v do_v and_o therefore_o i_o can_v but_o pity_v you_o poor_a blind_a soul_n and_o out_o of_o love_n i_o have_v write_v these_o few_o line_n unto_o you_o if_o perhaps_o there_o may_v be_v some_o among_o you_o who_o may_v thereby_o grope_v somewhat_o more_o near_o the_o understanding_n of_o the_o truth_n then_o heretofore_o and_o i_o make_v no_o doubt_n but_o that_o some_o will_v understand_v by_o what_o be_v here_o write_v how_o to_o conceive_v of_o christ_n in_o the_o flesh_n and_o how_o in_o the_o divine_a nature_n and_o how_o in_o this_o type_n viz._n the_o passover_n or_o his_o last_o supper_n and_o i_o hope_v you_o will_v learn_v in_o time_n to_o know_v in_o a_o more_o clear_a way_n how_o to_o understand_v and_o enjoy_v more_o of_o the_o suffering_n with_o christ_n than_o you_o ever_o yet_o have_v do_v and_o and_o so_o become_v more_o pure_a and_o right_a partaker_n of_o the_o divine_a nature_n itself_o than_o ever_o you_o have_v do_v in_o the_o outward_a type_n and_o outside_n form_n but_o i_o something_o doubt_n that_o while_o your_o false_a teacher_n who_o have_v the_o lie_a spirit_n in_o they_o have_v power_n to_o destroy_v you_o they_o will_v still_o deceive_v you_o therefore_o as_o you_o love_v your_o own_o soul_n beware_v of_o they_o and_o say_v not_o but_o that_o a_o friend_n give_v you_o warning_n of_o they_o but_o in_o conclude_v of_o this_o type_n institute_v by_o christ_n i_o will_v have_v you_o further_a to_o understand_v in_o brief_a the_o sum_n of_o all_o what_o have_v be_v former_o hold_v out_o viz._n the_o suffering_n with_o christ_n according_a to_o the_o flesh_n and_o the_o fellowship_n or_o communion_n with_o christ_n in_o the_o divine_a nature_n for_o herein_o stand_v and_o be_v contain_v all_o the_o whole_a duty_n of_o every_o one_o who_o will_v be_v christ_n disciple_n for_o in_o suffer_v we_o have_v communion_n with_o he_o as_o he_o be_v in_o the_o flesh_n in_o which_o we_o must_v follow_v he_o to_o the_o very_a death_n upon_o the_o cross_n viz._n in_o live_v in_o the_o daily_o deny_v ourselves_o both_o inward_o and_o outward_o inward_o by_o keep_v our_o thought_n desire_n and_o affection_n out_o of_o love_a and_o live_v of_o and_o in_o any_o thing_n below_o the_o communion_n of_o the_o father_n and_o the_o son_n by_o the_o partake_n of_o the_o divine_a nature_n and_o when_o we_o by_o true_a examination_n of_o our_o own_o heart_n find_v they_o bend_v down_o into_o earthly_a object_n of_o what_o kind_n soever_o then_o to_o draw_v back_o our_o heart_n from_o they_o and_o beat_v down_o all_o the_o object_n as_o they_o rise_v or_o be_v present_v to_o the_o heart_n or_o will_v and_o hereby_o man_n shall_v come_v to_o know_v the_o evil_a of_o his_o own_o heart_n whereby_o his_o affliction_n inward_o shall_v be_v much_o increase_v whereby_o he_o shall_v be_v make_v a_o suitable_a companion_n for_o christ_n in_o the_o way_n of_o suffering_n in_o which_o the_o soul_n become_v to_o have_v communion_n and_o fellowship_n with_o christ_n and_o in_o this_o fellowship_n the_o apostle_n desire_v to_o know_v christ_n and_o for_o the_o outward_a suffering_n they_o very_o much_o help_v the_o soul_n into_o the_o fellowship_n of_o christ_n and_o these_o be_v of_o divers_a sort_n viz._n loss_n of_o good_n loss_n of_o health_n loss_n of_o friend_n and_o relation_n loss_n of_o the_o praise_n of_o man_n loss_n of_o the_o pleasure_n in_o the_o world_n etc._n etc._n all_o which_o man_n may_v suffer_v the_o loss_n of_o by_o accident_n or_o to_o say_v by_o the_o hand_n and_o work_v of_o god_n and_o to_o these_o may_v be_v add_v other_o suffering_n of_o the_o flesh_n in_o the_o outward_a self-denial_n viz._n by_o take_v no_o more_o of_o the_o creature_n than_o will_v serve_v for_o the_o uphold_v and_o support_v of_o the_o body_n neither_o in_o meat_n drink_n nor_o apparel_n etc._n etc._n and_o this_o all_o man_n ought_v to_o observe_v that_o will_v follow_v christ_n in_o the_o fellowship_n of_o his_o suffering_n for_o whatsoever_o man_n take_v more_o of_o the_o creature_n than_o be_v before_o say_v the_o same_o be_v for_o keep_v lust_n alive_a and_o add_v fuel_n to_o the_o fire_n but_o these_o outward_a suffering_n will_v not_o bring_v man_n into_o the_o true_a fellowship_n of_o the_o communion_n of_o the_o suffering_n with_o christ_n without_o the_o inward_a suffering_n before_o say_v go_v along_o with_o the_o outward_a suffering_n for_o by_o both_o the_o soul_n be_v right_o fit_a to_o be_v partaker_n with_o christ_n in_o suffering_n and_o when_o the_o apostle_n paul_n have_v to_o do_v with_o the_o corinthian_n about_o some_o affliction_n under_o which_o they_o be_v and_o to_o let_v they_o know_v that_o those_o who_o will_v follow_v christ_n must_v bear_v he_o company_n in_o suffering_n and_o not_o start_v back_o from_o it_o nor_o turn_v aside_o from_o christ_n in_o that_o fellowship_n therefore_o he_o set_v before_o they_o the_o example_n of_o the_o people_n in_o the_o wilderness_n who_o be_v all_o baptise_a in_o the_o sea_n which_o be_v as_o much_o as_o to_o enter_v into_o covenant_n with_o god_n to_o abide_v all_o suffering_n that_o after_o shall_v come_v upon_o they_o before_o they_o come_v to_o the_o land_n

be_v in_o the_o divine_a nature_n and_o the_o reason_n be_v because_o that_o the_o faith_n according_a to_o christ_n in_o the_o flesh_n do_v not_o take_v away_o lust_n out_o of_o the_o heart_n but_o rather_o conform_v the_o heart_n to_o lust_n and_o lust_n to_o the_o heart_n and_o lust_n be_v lovely_a to_o the_o heart_n and_o the_o operation_n of_o the_o divine_a nature_n or_o faith_n issue_v out_o of_o and_o from_o the_o divine_a nature_n it_o kill_v lust_n in_o the_o heart_n and_o draw_v the_o heart_n with_o all_o its_o affection_n into_o the_o right_a centre_n and_o from_o hence_o it_o be_v that_o many_o in_o their_o form_n fall_v short_a of_o that_o which_o be_v the_o true_a centre_n and_o become_v enemy_n of_o christ_n and_o yet_o none_o preach_v christ_n nor_o pretend_v christ_n more_o than_o those_o but_o can_v you_o who_o be_v so_o complete_o congregat_v people_n think_v that_o you_o be_v any_o such_o as_o be_v the_o enemy_n of_o christ_n i_o doubt_v you_o will_v hardly_o believe_v it_o but_o let_v i_o tell_v you_o in_o plain_a term_n you_o have_v best_o beware_v lest_o you_o be_v find_v in_o the_o number_n of_o such_o for_o whosoever_o be_v enemy_n to_o the_o cross_n of_o christ_n shall_v be_v find_v enemy_n to_o christ_n but_o i_o fear_v you_o do_v not_o right_o understand_v what_o the_o cross_n of_o christ_n be_v and_o then_o how_o shall_v you_o be_v friend_n to_o it_o for_o i_o assure_v you_o none_o know_v the_o cross_n of_o christ_n but_o those_o who_o be_v right_o incorporate_v into_o the_o divine_a nature_n and_o that_o be_v not_o a_o incorporate_n in_o kirk-fellowship_n as_o you_o call_v it_o and_o while_o you_o be_v bind_v up_o in_o that_o incorporate_n i_o may_v upon_o safe_a ground_n conclude_v that_o you_o as_o yet_o know_v not_o what_o the_o cross_n signify_v but_o it_o may_v be_v that_o some_o among_o you_o will_v know_v what_o i_o mean_v by_o the_o cross_n of_o christ_n and_o will_v hear_v my_o opinion_n of_o the_o same_o for_o i_o know_v this_o be_v a_o time_n wherein_o man_n be_v addict_v to_o hear_v new_a thing_n but_o yet_o i_o have_v not_o any_o new_a thing_n to_o tell_v you_o for_o what_o i_o have_v to_o say_v to_o you_o be_v no_o more_o but_o such_o old_a tale_n as_o have_v former_o be_v tell_v both_o by_o christ_n and_o his_o true_a follower_n but_o when_o the_o follow_v of_o christ_n cease_v than_o the_o old_a say_n and_o tale_n which_o be_v former_o tell_v grow_v out_o of_o fashion_n and_o new_a say_n and_o wise_a say_n and_o learned_a say_n and_o study_v fiction_n be_v new_a become_v to_o be_v in_o request_n but_o to_o answer_v what_o some_o of_o you_o may_v desire_v i_o will_v bring_v old_a say_n to_o explain_v the_o truth_n hereof_o to_o you_o and_o these_o shall_v be_v the_o say_n of_o the_o apostle_n paul_n who_o oft_o insist_v upon_o this_o very_a subject_n viz._n the_o cross_n of_o christ_n but_o this_o be_v not_o the_o wooden_a cross_n upon_o the_o which_o the_o body_n of_o christ_n be_v crucify_v that_o be_v a_o type_n indeed_o of_o the_o other_o cross_n speak_v of_o by_o the_o apostle_n and_o in_o respect_n of_o the_o reference_n the_o one_o have_v to_o the_o other_o make_v the_o apostle_n use_v that_o metaphorical_a speech_n in_o suffering_n for_o suffering_n be_v this_o cross_n and_o by_o suffer_v we_o have_v fellowship_n with_o christ_n and_o bear_v he_o company_n but_o what_o suffering_n be_v it_o that_o make_v man_n have_v fellowship_n with_o christ_n and_o right_o may_v be_v call_v the_o cross_n it_o be_v the_o daily_a selfe-deniall_n of_o our_o own_o heart_n with_o the_o inclination_n thought_n love_n and_o desire_n which_o be_v daily_o tend_v and_o bend_v down_o to_o the_o creature_n in_o one_o kind_a or_o other_o and_o the_o creature_n with_o its_o object_n arise_v to_o meet_v the_o affection_n to_o carry_v they_o after_o they_o from_o the_o live_n and_o abide_v in_o god_n as_o he_o be_v a_o spirit_n and_o in_o christ_n as_o he_o be_v in_o the_o divine_a nature_n or_o the_o union_n of_o the_o father_n and_o in_o that_o union_n of_o the_o father_n and_o the_o son_n to_o keep_v the_o heart_n with_o its_o affection_n that_o so_o the_o fellowship_n of_o the_o father_n and_o the_o son_n may_v daily_o be_v the_o fellowship_n of_o our_o heart_n and_o this_o be_v that_o which_o ought_v to_o be_v the_o centre_n of_o all_o heart_n without_o which_o there_o can_v be_v no_o happiness_n in_o any_o form_n yea_o this_o lead_v the_o heart_n out_o of_o centre_v in_o form_n and_o this_o be_v that_o which_o the_o apostle_n will_v have_v those_o who_o he_o write_v to_o to_o enjoy_v and_o for_o that_o end_n he_o declare_v the_o truth_n as_o it_o be_v in_o jesus_n that_o so_o they_o may_v have_v fellowship_n with_o they_o who_o be_v partaker_n of_o the_o truth_n and_o he_o affirm_v that_o their_o fellowship_n be_v with_o the_o father_n and_o the_o son_n 1_o jo._n 1.2_o 3._o and_o where_o the_o heart_n be_v right_o call_v and_o right_o carry_v on_o in_o the_o way_n of_o christ_n and_o those_o who_o be_v his_o follower_n they_o rest_v not_o in_o form_n and_o kirk-fellowship_n for_o they_o find_v in_o themselves_o other_o matter_n to_o go_v about_o and_o that_o be_v to_o press_v after_o the_o fellowship_n of_o the_o father_n and_o the_o son_n and_o their_o longing_n empty_a mourn_a spirit_n be_v not_o nor_o can_v be_v content_a with_o any_o thing_n below_o that_o fellowship_n and_o out_o of_o the_o great_a desire_n hereof_o the_o soul_n be_v set_v at_o variance_n with_o all_o create_a thing_n or_o whatsoever_o among_o most_o sort_n of_o those_o we_o call_v professor_n how_o they_o be_v carry_v out_o to_o worship_n back_o and_o belly_n as_o be_v before_o say_v but_o especial_o among_o those_o who_o be_v very_o many_o of_o their_o fellow_n creature_n like_v to_o starve_v both_o for_o meat_n and_o clothing_n and_o yet_o they_o can_v look_v upon_o they_o with_o a_o light_n look_v and_o very_o little_a compassion_n and_o the_o reason_n be_v that_o which_o they_o have_v they_o must_v keep_v for_o sacrifice_n for_o their_o god_n and_o the_o rest_n they_o must_v keep_v for_o themselves_o to_o glory_n in_o for_o the_o very_a sight_n of_o rich_a superfluity_n lift_v up_o the_o heart_n and_o the_o thought_n thereof_o do_v yield_v they_o comfort_n and_o the_o have_v and_o possess_v of_o these_o thing_n win_v the_o praise_n of_o such_o fool_n as_o themselves_o and_o in_o all_o these_o they_o glory_n and_o yet_o all_o they_o glory_n in_o be_v but_o their_o shame_n yea_o and_o abominable_a and_o that_o be_v baptism_n i_o know_v what_o ground_n you_o have_v for_o this_o act_n viz._n from_o example_n of_o the_o primitive_a time_n as_o also_o in_o obedience_n to_o the_o command_n of_o christ_n it_o be_v true_a indeed_o christ_n give_v out_o such_o a_o command_n to_o his_o disciple_n as_o he_o do_v for_o the_o observe_n of_o the_o type_n institute_v at_o his_o last_o supper_n of_o faculty_n of_o the_o soul_n and_o when_o the_o noble_a faculty_n become_v thus_o deliver_v have_v undergo_v this_o first_o baptism_n or_o suffer_v or_o plunge_v as_o before_o say_v then_o do_v man_n begin_v to_o fear_v the_o name_n of_o that_o great_a god_n who_o have_v do_v these_o great_a thing_n for_o his_o soul_n and_o so_o become_v to_o be_v obedient_a to_o moses_n viz._n to_o the_o outward_a require_v of_o the_o commandment_n and_o know_v god_n to_o be_v so_o great_a and_o terrible_a the_o fear_n of_o his_o name_n do_v cause_n man_n to_o yield_v obedience_n to_o his_o law_n and_o in_o the_o transgress_a or_o go_v astray_o from_o its_o requiring_n the_o same_o appearance_n of_o god_n be_v manifest_v as_o be_v at_o the_o give_v out_o thereof_o and_o this_o terriblenesse_n of_o god_n be_v know_v in_o the_o condemn_a part_n of_o the_o soul_n viz._n the_o conscience_n and_o so_o in_o the_o obedience_n to_o god_n in_o his_o terrible_a manifestation_n in_o the_o first_o baptism_n under_o the_o first_o dispensation_n man_n act_v in_o that_o fear_n to_o all_o the_o outward_a requiring_n of_o the_o letter_n and_o seek_v thereby_o to_o assuage_v and_o allay_v the_o appearance_n of_o that_o anger_n and_o go_v about_o to_o please_v god_n and_o satisfy_v justice_n by_o outward_a sacrifice_n and_o so_o it_o be_v that_o man_n live_v under_o this_o dispensation_n and_o act_v zealous_o therein_o the_o condemn_a part_n or_o conscience_n become_v somewhat_o pacify_v and_o quietness_n begin_v to_o appear_v and_o from_o hence_o it_o be_v that_o man_n draw_v conclusion_n that_o god_n be_v well_o please_v with_o their_o sacrifice_n and_o as_o under_o this_o first_o baptism_n in_o the_o first_o dispensation_n wherein_o be_v contain_v the_o first_o covenant_n of_o work_n man_n apprehend_v god_n in_o terror_n in_o the_o manifest_v the_o whole_a deity_n in_o the_o one_o name_n they_o become_v to_o yield_v obedience_n according_o viz._n in_o a_o fearful_a servile_a manner_n like_o flint_n stone_n and_o the_o steel_n who_o be_v forcible_o beat_v together_o from_o which_o fire_n be_v produce_v even_o so_o the_o heart_n of_o man_n in_o the_o first_o dispensation_n be_v hard_o as_o the_o nether_a millstone_n and_o will_v not_o yield_v any_o obedience_n except_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n by_o the_o hammer_n of_o the_o law_n smite_v upon_o the_o same_o and_o thereby_o force_v out_o obedience_n to_o what_o god_n require_v in_o the_o first_o dispensation_n so_o in_o time_n when_o the_o heart_n be_v make_v more_o willing_a and_o answerable_a to_o the_o requiring_n under_o the_o first_o dispensation_n then_o by_o the_o obedience_n there-und_a man_n have_v peace_n as_o be_v before_o say_v from_o whence_o he_o conclude_v that_o god_n be_v well_o please_v with_o he_o and_o so_o from_o these_o two_o ground_n viz._n the_o terror_n or_o anger_n of_o god_n out_o of_o which_o arise_v the_o fear_n of_o hell_n and_o out_o of_o the_o life_n and_o peace_n of_o conscience_n out_o of_o which_o arise_v the_o hope_n of_o heaven_n man_n work_v all_o his_o work_n and_o so_o be_v under_o the_o condition_n of_o the_o first_o covenant_n of_o work_n in_o which_o the_o deity_n stand_v in_o one_o name_n though_o we_o in_o our_o day_n know_v not_o the_o mystery_n hereof_o for_o when_o any_o soul_n be_v but_o under_o the_o first_o covenant_n of_o work_n he_o can_v talk_v of_o the_o deity_n as_o it_o be_v divide_v in_o its_o property_n but_o that_o be_v because_o of_o the_o live_n in_o this_o present_a dispensation_n under_o the_o gospel_n wherein_o we_o have_v receive_v a_o historical_a relation_n of_o christ_n and_o the_o holy_a ghost_n by_o which_o man_n have_v get_v the_o relative_a knowledge_n of_o the_o threefold_a name_n of_o the_o deity_n and_o yet_o know_v not_o the_o power_n and_o proper_a work_n of_o the_o deity_n in_o the_o threefold_a name_n but_o blind_o look_v upon_o they_o as_o they_o be_v put_v out_o in_o the_o outward_a type_n and_o so_o make_v a_o humble_a jumble_v of_o they_o according_a to_o the_o history_n or_o relation_n of_o the_o same_o and_o from_o hence_o it_o be_v that_o man_n talk_v and_o preach_v and_o confer_v of_o the_o father_n son_n and_o holy_a ghost_n and_o yet_o live_v not_o in_o the_o power_n of_o what_o they_o preach_v or_o speak_v for_o they_o have_v not_o know_v the_o operation_n and_o proper_a work_n in_o their_o soul_n of_o the_o deity_n in_o the_o threefold_a name_n or_o three_o distinct_a property_n of_o the_o deity_n in_o the_o orderly_a manifestation_n of_o itself_o in_o the_o condition_n suitable_a for_o the_o same_o but_o those_o who_o live_v in_o the_o time_n of_o the_o first_o dispensation_n under_o the_o covenant_n of_o work_n where_o they_o have_v the_o law_n of_o commandment_n and_o the_o ceremonial_a law_n also_o and_o the_o ordinance_n therein_o contain_v they_o be_v not_o in_o the_o dispensation_n of_o the_o deity_n in_o its_o distinct_a property_n as_o we_o be_v but_o the_o distinct_a property_n be_v all_o include_v in_o the_o whole_a essence_n of_o the_o deity_n viz._n christ_n and_o the_o holy_a ghost_n be_v both_o one_o in_o the_o father_n and_o the_o father_n in_o they_o and_o all_o but_o one_o god_n and_o though_o the_o godhead_n be_v thus_o whole_a in_o itself_o yet_o god_n let_v out_o himself_o in_o distinct_a property_n into_o the_o soul_n of_o the_o upright_a people_n under_o the_o first_o dispensation_n and_o by_o the_o very_a same_o way_n they_o be_v save_v as_o we_o be_v and_o do_v enjoy_v god_n in_o the_o same_o way_n that_o we_o do_v though_o not_o in_o the_o same_o dispensation_n for_o though_o they_o live_v under_o the_o covenant_n of_o work_n and_o ceremonial_a observation_n yet_o those_o soul_n who_o god_n have_v let_v out_o himself_o to_o in_o his_o distinct_a property_n of_o mercy_n and_o love_a kindness_n and_o wisdom_n by_o which_o they_o know_v god_n and_o feel_v god_n as_o he_o be_v in_o those_o property_n though_o they_o do_v observe_v these_o thing_n in_o that_o time_n yet_o they_o know_v that_o salvation_n be_v not_o in_o these_o thing_n but_o in_o the_o observe_n of_o they_o their_o heart_n be_v lead_v and_o draw_v out_o of_o and_o beyond_o the_o thing_n they_o

ought_v but_o who_o be_v it_o that_o will_v believe_v the_o truth_n hereof_o for_o the_o son_n of_o man_n be_v blind_v of_o the_o right_a sight_n and_o knowledge_n of_o the_o truth_n and_o by_o reason_n of_o the_o love_n they_o have_v to_o lust_n sin_n and_o selfness_n they_o be_v become_v enemy_n of_o the_o cross_n of_o christ_n and_o if_o any_o have_v attain_v to_o the_o first_o dispensation_n beforesaid_a they_o think_v themselves_o to_o have_v attain_v all_o that_o be_v necessary_a and_o that_o they_o need_v no_o more_o and_o so_o become_v to_o settle_v upon_o the_o lees_n of_o their_o own_o performance_n and_o so_o become_v the_o resister_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n act_v 7.51_o and_o if_o any_o be_v bring_v out_o of_o the_o first_o baptism_n under_o the_o first_o dispensation_n which_o contain_v in_o it_o the_o covenant_n of_o work_n and_o so_o be_v make_v partaker_n of_o the_o second_o baptism_n by_o which_o they_o be_v bring_v into_o and_o prepare_v to_o meet_v christ_n in_o his_o first_o appearance_n and_o when_o they_o have_v know_v the_o son_n of_o god_n or_o god_n in_o his_o distinct_a property_n of_o the_o son_n manifest_v himself_o to_o their_o soul_n by_o which_o the_o soul_n have_v comfort_n and_o content_n and_o refreshment_n and_o deliverance_n from_o its_o former_a trouble_n and_o now_o it_o find_v the_o effect_n of_o the_o propitiation_n of_o the_o son_n in_o cover_v and_o hide_v its_o sin_n and_o in_o justify_v the_o soul_n and_o take_v of_o the_o power_n of_o condemnation_n from_o it_o then_o do_v that_o soul_n conclude_v that_o all_o be_v do_v and_o can_v be_v please_v with_o that_o present_a condition_n suppose_v they_o have_v that_o which_o never_o will_v fail_v and_o say_v in_o their_o heart_n they_o shall_v not_o be_v remove_v because_o the_o lord_n of_o his_o goodness_n have_v make_v their_o mountain_n so_o strong_a psal_n 30._o and_o from_o these_o false_a conclusion_n many_o a_o soul_n become_v to_o lose_v itself_o and_o turn_v back_o again_o into_o the_o world_n and_o into_o the_o captivity_n of_o the_o creature_n from_o which_o it_o be_v deliver_v and_o so_o man_n foolish_o conclude_v that_o be_v in_o the_o land_n of_o canaan_n he_o shall_v see_v the_o bondage_n of_o egypt_n no_o more_o but_o while_o man_n be_v but_o in_o the_o enjoyment_n of_o the_o first_o manifestation_n of_o god_n in_o the_o first_o appearance_n of_o his_o son_n he_o be_v but_o a_o babe_n and_o but_o ignorant_a of_o what_o the_o mind_n of_o god_n be_v in_o that_o present_a condition_n and_o therefore_o they_o be_v very_o subject_a to_o be_v content_a with_o that_o present_a station_n because_o it_o please_v they_o so_o well_o suppose_v that_o there_o be_v none_o that_o have_v attain_v any_o further_a than_o what_o they_o have_v already_o attain_v too_o when_o as_o alas_o they_o know_v not_o as_o yet_o what_o it_o be_v to_o die_v with_o christ_n on_o the_o cross_n nor_o what_o the_o fellowship_n of_o his_o suffering_n be_v nor_o what_o the_o virtual_a power_n of_o his_o resurrection_n mean_v and_o so_o it_o be_v that_o from_o the_o idolize_v of_o that_o present_a enjoyment_n they_o in_o a_o very_a short_a time_n become_v to_o be_v cast_v out_o of_o that_o enjoyment_n and_o yet_o do_v they_o not_o know_v that_o they_o be_v so_o cast_v out_o because_o of_o the_o false_a fiend_n who_o have_v get_v again_o into_o the_o house_n from_o whence_o he_o be_v go_v out_o and_o counterfeit_v god_n through_o the_o help_n of_o the_o imagination_n and_o so_o make_v these_o soul_n believe_v that_o god_n be_v their_o present_a portion_n and_o that_o they_o have_v such_o a_o fast_o thank_v of_o he_o that_o nothing_o can_v be_v able_a to_o separate_v they_o when_o at_o that_o very_a instant_n of_o time_n the_o heart_n be_v in_o captivity_n with_o the_o creature_n i_o fear_v that_o this_o be_v the_o very_a condition_n of_o many_o now_o adays_o who_o have_v know_v god_n after_o this_o manner_n beforesaid_a and_o yet_o have_v forsake_v he_o again_o and_o turn_v to_o the_o creature_n and_o yet_o do_v but_o little_a know_v that_o they_o be_v so_o far_o carry_v away_o from_o god_n as_o they_o be_v but_o when_o god_n in_o his_o orderly_a proceed_n go_v on_o in_o bring_v the_o soul_n through_o all_o the_o danger_n and_o difficulty_n of_o the_o creature_n and_o self_n then_o do_v he_o not_o suffer_v the_o soul_n to_o have_v what_o it_o will_v have_v nor_o enjoy_v what_o it_o will_v enjoy_v in_o that_o first_o manifestation_n of_o himself_o in_o the_o name_n of_o his_o son_n but_o as_o the_o bodily_a presence_n of_o jesus_n be_v to_o be_v take_v away_o in_o his_o appear_v in_o the_o second_o dispensation_n in_o the_o flesh_n that_o so_o he_o may_v come_v again_o in_o the_o spirit_n or_o ghostly_a baptism_n by_o which_o they_o shall_v still_o be_v lead_v on_o till_o they_o be_v in_o the_o near_a and_o safe_a union_n of_o the_o father_n and_o the_o son_n that_o can_v be_v attain_v to_o in_o the_o body_n so_o it_o be_v that_o the_o ghostly_a presence_n in_o the_o first_o manifestation_n in_o the_o spirit_n must_v be_v take_v away_o that_o so_o the_o spirit_n may_v come_v to_o a_o further_o and_o more_o sure_a partake_n of_o the_o divine_a nature_n than_o it_o can_v in_o the_o first_o manifestation_n for_o as_o christ_n follower_n can_v have_v be_v please_v to_o have_v still_o enjoy_v the_o bodily_a presence_n of_o christ_n in_o the_o first_o appear_v in_o the_o flesh_n so_o will_v a_o soul_n be_v please_v with_o the_o first_o manifestation_n of_o god_n appear_v in_o the_o name_n of_o his_o son_n to_o the_o spirit_n but_o as_o christ_n bodily_a presence_n must_v be_v take_v away_o that_o thereby_o the_o life_n of_o self_n which_o live_v in_o the_o sense_n and_o reason_n of_o his_o disciple_n under_o that_o present_a enjoyment_n may_v become_v destroy_v and_o overthrow_v by_o the_o come_n again_o in_o the_o power_n of_o the_o spirit_n or_o ghostly_a baptism_n so_o it_o be_v that_o the_o first_o appearance_n of_o god_n in_o christ_n in_o the_o first_o appearance_n of_o the_o soul_n must_v be_v hide_v and_o take_v away_o because_o of_o so_o much_o life_n of_o self_n in_o the_o sense_n and_o reason_n and_o that_o by_o a_o further_a and_o more_o clear_a and_o safe_a way_n to_o manifest_v himself_o in_o the_o soul_n and_o that_o be_v by_o the_o pour_v out_o of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n into_o it_o by_o the_o virtue_n of_o which_o the_o soul_n become_v baptize_v into_o the_o suffering_n and_o death_n of_o christ_n whereby_o the_o life_n of_o sense_n and_o reason_n become_v to_o die_v and_o the_o spirit_n bring_v out_o of_o the_o claw_n of_o sin_n death_n devil_n and_o hell_n and_o the_o power_n of_o the_o resurrection_n of_o christ_n become_v to_o be_v know_v and_o the_o body_n of_o sin_n become_v to_o be_v destroy_v by_o the_o powerful_a work_n and_o burn_v of_o this_o ghostly_a baptism_n and_o this_o be_v the_o very_a baptism_n the_o apostle_n paul_n speak_v of_o when_o he_o say_v know_v you_o not_o so_o many_o of_o we_o as_o be_v baptize_v into_o christ_n be_v baptize_v into_o his_o death_n therefore_o we_o be_v bury_v with_o he_o by_o baptism_n into_o his_o death_n etc._n etc._n for_o if_o we_o have_v be_v plant_v together_o into_o the_o likeness_n of_o his_o death_n we_o shall_v also_o be_v in_o the_o likeness_n of_o his_o resurrection_n know_v this_o that_o our_o old_a man_n be_v crucify_v with_o he_o that_o the_o body_n of_o sin_n may_v be_v destroy_v that_o henceforth_o we_o shall_v not_o serve_v sin_n etc._n etc._n rom._n 6.2_o 3_o 4_o 5_o etc._n etc._n and_o those_o soul_n who_o know_v god_n in_o this_o work_n can_v witness_v to_o the_o truth_n of_o be_v before_o say_v yet_o god_n be_v but_o one_o and_o the_o same_o god_n and_o though_o there_o be_v these_o three_o baptism_n yet_o they_o all_o make_v up_o but_o one_o perfect_a baptism_n by_o which_o the_o soul_n be_v perfect_o complete_v in_o one_o faith_n ephes_n 4.5_o whereby_o the_o soul_n become_v lead_v out_o of_o all_o thing_n act_v or_o create_v and_o all_o suffering_n or_o will_v not_o oppose_v it_o neither_o will_v the_o flesh_n oppose_v it_o and_o i_o be_o sure_a the_o world_n be_v a_o friend_n to_o it_o and_o then_o it_o be_v possible_a there_o be_v nothing_o that_o be_v evil_a that_o will_v oppose_v it_o and_o no_o marvel_n though_o the_o multitude_n dance_v so_o mad_o after_o your_o pipe_n i_o know_v you_o see_v no_o great_a evil_n then_o that_o which_o be_v the_o idolize_v of_o form_n but_o that_o be_v because_o you_o know_v not_o the_o evil_a of_o your_o own_o heart_n and_o how_o the_o great_a mystery_n of_o evil_n lie_v there_o and_o because_o you_o know_v it_o not_o you_o be_v carry_v out_o to_o see_v the_o evil_n of_o other_o who_o be_v not_o of_o the_o same_o faith_n with_o you_o and_o some_o of_o you_o yea_o those_o who_o be_v of_o your_o chief_n teacher_n be_v so_o exceed_o carry_v out_o by_o the_o power_n of_o freegrace_n as_o they_o pretend_v that_o they_o go_v about_o to_o do_v marvel_n viz._n to_o pluck_v up_o where_o never_o any_o thing_n have_v be_v plant_v and_o to_o take_v away_o act_v from_o these_o people_n who_o never_o trouble_a themselves_o with_o act_v any_o thing_n for_o god_n or_o for_o any_o kind_n of_o formal_a worship_n to_o god_n but_o if_o such_o be_v but_o half_a wise_a they_o may_v spare_v their_o speak_n for_o such_o people_n have_v a_o teacher_n within_o they_o that_o will_v teach_v they_o to_o forsake_v act_v any_o thing_n for_o god_n or_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n and_o therefore_o they_o need_v not_o any_o of_o your_o outward_a teach_n to_o help_v they_o but_o do_v you_o not_o think_v you_o do_v a_o great_a piece_n of_o god_n service_n herein_o be_v judge_v yourselves_o i_o will_v know_v of_o you_o whether_o act_v or_o believe_v be_v the_o first_o bring_v out_o in_o any_o man_n if_o you_o say_v faith_n i_o will_v know_v what_o faith_n it_o be_v for_o the_o justify_v faith_n it_o can_v be_v for_o that_o be_v manifest_a after_o work_n and_o never_o do_v any_o man_n know_v it_o true_o until_o he_o have_v act_v and_o find_v the_o emptiness_n of_o his_o act_n and_o these_o thing_n which_o he_o think_v shall_v have_v bring_v out_o life_n bring_v out_o death_n rom._n 7.10_o and_o yet_o when_o this_o faith_n be_v bring_v out_o yet_o do_v not_o that_o faith_n make_v act_v void_a for_o faith_n without_o work_n be_v dead_a jam._n 2.17_o but_o if_o you_o say_v a_o man_n may_v have_v justify_v faith_n without_o work_n that_o i_o deny_v for_o wherever_o faith_n be_v that_o justifi_v the_o same_o can_v be_v without_o work_n i_o know_v man_n may_v have_v a_o historical_a faith_n without_o work_n but_o the_o justify_n say_v no_o man_n can_v have_v without_o work_n but_o it_o be_v one_o thing_n to_o have_v work_n and_o it_o be_v another_o thing_n to_o be_v justify_v by_o work_n and_o here_o be_v the_o mystery_n find_v it_o out_o if_o you_o can_v but_o for_o the_o want_n of_o the_o right_a knowledge_n of_o the_o mystery_n you_o become_v to_o make_v a_o division_n and_o jar_v between_o faith_n and_o work_v which_o in_o themselves_o do_v not_o differ_v but_o agree_v in_o a_o sweet_a harmony_n in_o those_o soul_n who_o have_v find_v out_o the_o mystery_n in_o they_o both_o and_o never_o shall_v you_o bring_v any_o soul_n to_o be_v a_o true_a believer_n before_o you_o have_v bring_v he_o into_o a_o active_a way_n before_o except_o you_o can_v command_v god_n to_o work_v miracle_n in_o his_o immediate_a way_n but_o my_o friend_n i_o know_v full_a well_o where_o you_o err_v and_o what_o be_v the_o ground_n of_o your_o opinion_n even_o you_o who_o be_v the_o pure_a in_o this_o your_o freegrace_n tenet_n for_o even_o you_o who_o have_v some_o experience_n of_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n i_o know_v you_o know_v it_o be_v the_o goodness_n of_o god_n that_o free_v your_o soul_n from_o what_o they_o be_v captive_v with_o and_o that_o all_o your_o act_n can_v not_o do_v it_o till_o god_n himself_o bestow_v his_o freegrace_n upon_o you_o this_o i_o confess_v be_v truth_n but_o do_v every_o any_o of_o you_o find_v the_o freegrace_n of_o god_n make_v know_v to_o you_o before_o you_o have_v act_v to_o your_o utmost_a endeavour_n and_o be_v make_v to_o see_v the_o emptiness_n of_o your_o act_n i_o know_v as_o many_o of_o you_o as_o have_v know_v true_a freedom_n will_v confess_v this_o and_o can_v you_o tell_v i_o true_o that_o if_o you_o have_v not_o act_v and_o thereby_o see_v the_o emptiness_n of_o your_o act_n whether_o you_o shall_v have_v know_v the_o freeness_n of_o grace_n yea_o or_o nay_o but_o because_o that_o you_o be_v not_o free_v by_o your_o act_n be_v therefore_o act_n of_o none_o effect_v god_n forbid_v for_o though_o the_o apostle_n be_v not_o justify_v by_o the_o law_n yet_o do_v he_o not_o make_v void_v the_o law_n but_o count_v it_o of_o necessary_a use_n for_o thereby_o come_v the_o knowledge_n of_o sin_n rom._n 7.13_o so_o act_n though_o they_o do_v not_o justify_v yet_o by_o they_o man_n become_v to_o know_v the_o emptiness_n that_o be_v in_o they_o for_o before_o any_o action_n be_v bring_v out_o the_o goodness_n or_o badness_n of_o it_o can_v be_v know_v and_o it_o be_v as_o natural_a to_o man_n to_o depend_v upon_o his_o act_n as_o the_o skin_n cleave_v to_o his_o flesh_n and_o man_n can_v be_v free_v from_o depend_v thereon_o until_o he_o true_o see_v the_o evil_a in_o they_o and_o he_o can_v see_v the_o evil_n in_o they_o until_o they_o be_v bring_v out_o and_o until_o he_o see_v the_o evil_a in_o they_o he_o can_v be_v justify_v by_o freegrace_n and_o for_o this_o very_a purpose_n god_n have_v give_v man_n power_n to_o act_v and_o give_v out_o command_n that_o he_o shall_v act_v that_o thereby_o man_n may_v be_v bring_v to_o see_v what_o be_v in_o his_o act_n and_o how_o far_o he_o can_v recover_v out_o of_o his_o fall_a condition_n by_o his_o act_n that_o so_o where_o he_o come_v short_a he_o may_v know_v the_o goodness_n of_o god_n in_o his_o restauration_n
