exceed_v other_o church_n in_o receive_v blessing_n and_o manifold_a testimony_n from_o god_n suffer_v the_o darkness_n of_o wickedness_n to_o overspread_v again_o yea_o and_o to_o prevail_v also_o against_o the_o true_a light_n by_o suffer_v true_a obedience_n true_a restreinte_v to_o become_v nickname_v or_o traduce_v let_v not_o this_o be_v but_o rather_o let_v those_o congregation_n where_o most_o true_a restreinte_v from_o thing_n true_o evil_a be_v find_v be_v account_v as_o the_o special_a light_n of_o our_o nation_n &_o cherish_v of_o our_o magistrate_n as_o for_o such_o to_o conclude_v see_v our_o nation_n in_o the_o church_n reform_v have_v receive_v by_o the_o gospel_n so_o bless_v a_o change_n as_o from_o darkness_n unto_o light_n well_o may_v we_o be_v move_v to_o the_o keep_n of_o the_o commandment_n by_o the_o bare_a injunction_n or_o commandment_n receive_v from_o they_o who_o minister_v unto_o we_o the_o gospel_n for_o common_o they_o who_o receive_v good_a by_o any_o will_v be_v willing_a to_o do_v some_o thing_n at_o their_o bare_a commandment_n or_o injunction_n but_o the_o lord_n have_v not_o leave_v we_o to_o the_o bare_a injunction_n only_o but_o have_v merciful_o find_v out_o many_o powerful_a motive_n or_o inducement_n beside_o it_o that_o of_o they_o our_o passion_n and_o affection_n may_v so_o be_v move_v in_o we_o as_o that_o a_o willing_a undergo_n of_o the_o burden_n of_o the_o commandment_n may_v be_v beget_v in_o we_o proceed_v we_o therefore_o now_o to_o consider_v also_o the_o other_o motive_n or_o inducement_n learn_v withal_o to_o make_v such_o a_o manner_n use_v of_o they_o as_o whereby_o their_o work_n upon_o we_o their_o profitable_a effect_n may_v be_v further_v 3._o chap._n the_o next_o motive_n then_o or_o commandment_n from_o a_o king_n who_o power_n and_o authority_n be_v manifest_a unto_o he_o we_o shall_v find_v he_o to_o rejoice_v that_o he_o have_v receive_v even_o a_o commandment_n from_o such_o may_v sink_v into_o their_o heart_n there_o to_o remain_v as_o director_n unto_o they_o in_o all_o thing_n wherein_o they_o may_v have_v use_n of_o they_o the_o very_a notion_n only_o of_o god_n commandment_n be_v sure_o profitable_a as_o serve_v to_o inform_v man_n of_o the_o way_n they_o shall_v walk_v in_o but_o meditation_n upon_o they_o root_n they_o within_o we_o because_o what_o our_o spirit_n once_o labour_v upon_o it_o will_v not_o easy_o forgo_v again_o but_o will_v retain_v and_o make_v use_n of_o the_o same_o and_o this_o also_o to_o the_o end_n wherefore_o the_o pain_n to_o meditate_v upon_o it_o be_v take_v for_o if_o any_o man_n purpose_n with_o himself_o and_o set_v his_o heart_n to_o seek_v god_n commandment_n that_o they_o may_v serve_v to_o guide_v and_o rule_v he_o in_o his_o way_n he_o join_v private_a meditation_n or_o selfe-questioning_a and_o self_n examine_v with_o the_o same_o his_o heart_n will_v then_o affect_v and_o endeavour_v to_o come_v to_o the_o end_n of_o its_o purpose_n for_o this_o cause_n have_v i_o choose_v to_o direct_v man_n unto_o a_o manner_n of_o meditation_n upon_o the_o lord_n commandment_n that_o so_o through_o meditation_n the_o commandment_n of_o god_n may_v not_o rest_v in_o the_o bare_a notion_n but_o may_v branch_v themselves_o out_o in_o the_o action_n speech_n yea_o and_o private_a thought_n of_o man_n but_o because_o the_o stream_n of_o this_o world_n disposition_n run_v violent_o against_o the_o man_n that_o will_v keep_v god_n commandment_n for_o such_o be_v in_o most_o man_n the_o custom_n to_o err_v from_o the_o way_n of_o god_n commandment_n that_o he_o that_o walk_v in_o they_o shall_v hardly_o find_v any_o man_n that_o be_v not_o either_o against_o he_o or_o at_o leastwise_o not_o addict_v to_o that_o way_n he_o walk_v in_o and_o because_o our_o own_o corrupt_a nature_n be_v hardly_o bring_v in_o obedience_n to_o yield_v to_o walk_v in_o the_o way_n of_o righteousness_n therefore_o i_o have_v purposely_o set_v myself_o to_o show_v in_o the_o first_o place_n and_o in_o several_a chapter_n a_o part_n certain_a motive_n or_o inducement_n by_o which_o man_n may_v be_v bring_v on_o to_o take_v upon_o they_o as_o for_o a_o light_a burden_n and_o easy_a yoke_n the_o holy_a commandment_n of_o god_n which_o be_v as_o his_o burden_n and_o yoke_n which_o he_o for_o man_n good_a have_v on_o the_o one_o hand_n this_o will_v cause_v the_o ancient_a work_n of_o god_n to_o be_v still_o in_o the_o memory_n of_o god_n people_n so_o on_o the_o other_o hand_n the_o work_n will_v work_v from_o the_o heart_n first_o a_o confession_n of_o the_o power_n of_o god_n and_o second_o a_o awe_n anâ—_n three_o a_o inclination_n to_o keep_v his_o commandment_n fear_v not_o neither_o doubt_n the_o produce_v these_o effect_n if_o thus_o you_o use_v yourselves_o to_o speak_v of_o the_o ancient_a wonder_n do_v of_o god_n for_o assure_v yourselves_o that_o these_o work_n be_v do_v and_o appoint_v to_o be_v tell_v unto_o the_o son_n and_o son_n son_n purposely_o to_o produce_v these_o effect_n neither_o be_v the_o work_n of_o god_n so_o slight_a neither_o be_v the_o ordinance_n of_o this_o testimony_n from_o scripture_n that_o to_o consider_v god_n judgement_n even_o upon_o other_o be_v a_o motive_n or_o inducement_n to_o the_o keep_n of_o the_o commandment_n ought_v not_o we_o so_o much_o the_o more_o diligent_o to_o set_v always_o before_o the_o eye_n of_o our_o mind_n those_o ancient_a fearful_a judgement_n which_o god_n have_v inflict_v upon_o other_o therefore_o also_o have_v i_o choose_v this_o motive_n among_o other_o as_o a_o special_a motive_n or_o inducement_n advise_v man_n also_o to_o the_o make_v a_o very_a careful_a and_o customary_a use_n of_o the_o same_o which_o that_o you_o may_v the_o more_o profitable_o also_o do_v choose_v out_o unto_o yourself_o some_o convenient_a time_n wherein_o think_v with_o yourself_o of_o some_o one_o or_o two_o of_o the_o special_a judgement_n of_o god_n you_o may_v withal_o say_v thus_o or_o to_o like_a effect_n with_o yourself_o this_o be_v or_o seem_v to_o i_o to_o be_v as_o if_o here_o at_o this_o present_a i_o shall_v before_o my_o eye_n see_v this_o or_o this_o as_o the_o story_n relate_v unto_o you_o thus_o if_o you_o do_v this_o will_v then_o help_v your_o perceive_v or_o discern_v well_o of_o that_o which_o once_o be_v do_v and_o the_o discern_a further_v much_o the_o work_n of_o that_o upon_o our_o heart_n which_o be_v discern_v but_o if_o hereunto_o you_o add_v further_o say_v have_v i_o be_v in_o his_o or_o their_o stead_n to_o who_o this_o be_v do_v how_o have_v it_o be_v with_o i_o how_o fearful_a have_v be_v then_o my_o condition_n this_o will_v help_v to_o bring_v the_o fear_n of_o god_n upon_o your_o heart_n for_o you_o make_v their_o case_n your_o own_o suppose_v how_o it_o will_v be_v now_o with_o yourself_o if_o now_o the_o like_a shall_v befall_v yourself_o the_o fearfulness_n of_o the_o judgement_n will_v so_o appear_v unto_o you_o as_o that_o a_o fear_n of_o the_o lord_n that_o do_v it_o will_v fall_v withal_o upon_o your_o heart_n now_o fear_n be_v such_o a_o passion_n or_o affection_n of_o the_o mind_n as_o which_o take_v hold_n of_o the_o heart_n and_o spirit_n of_o a_o man_n it_o will_v incline_v the_o heart_n to_o a_o care_n to_o do_v that_o for_o the_o not_o do_v whereof_o such_o punishment_n â—s_v it_o now_o fear_v have_v fall_v upon_o other_o yea_o from_o fear_n spring_n also_o delight_n for_o we_o common_o delight_v in_o do_v that_o â—y_a which_o we_o avoid_v or_o escape_v such_o judgement_n as_o which_o our_o heart_n now_o fear_v god_n for_o be_v careful_a therefore_o that_o you_o learn_v not_o only_o to_o say_v god_n be_v to_o be_v fear_v or_o we_o must_v fear_v god_n but_o to_o feel_v the_o passion_n of_o fear_n of_o the_o lord_n in_o your_o heart_n for_o there_o be_v great_a hypocrisy_n lurk_v in_o a_o free_a confession_n whilst_o what_o we_o confess_v shall_v be_v do_v ourselves_o never_o do_v therefore_o to_o be_v sure_a to_o season_v your_o heart_n of_o this_o passion_n of_o fear_n do_v by_o the_o judgement_n of_o god_n inflict_v upon_o other_o as_o i_o have_v above_o instruct_v you_o but_o it_o may_v be_v some_o will_v say_v this_o be_v very_o dangerous_a for_o man_n for_o man_n thus_o suppose_v themselves_o as_o in_o their_o stead_n will_v be_v ready_a to_o be_v delude_v with_o a_o fancy_n that_o the_o same_o be_v do_v now_o unto_o themselves_o in_o deed_n i_o answer_v i_o direct_v man_n but_o to_o apprehend_v what_o be_v do_v therefore_o they_o must_v not_o fancy_v that_o now_o it_o be_v do_v and_o if_o any_o be_v so_o foolish_a yet_o a_o good_a thing_n must_v not_o be_v leave_v undo_v by_o further_o off_o from_o you_o because_o you_o thus_o endeavour_v to_o teach_v your_o heart_n to_o apprehend_v what_o be_v do_v many_o hundred_o year_n since_o unto_o other_o for_o which_o you_o now_o through_o faith_n of_o the_o report_n will_v fear_v god_n that_o do_v it_o whilst_o therefore_o this_o so_o good_a a_o intent_n or_o end_n of_o your_o meditation_n be_v in_o your_o soul_n you_o have_v the_o less_o need_n to_o fear_v any_o the_o like_a judgement_n to_o be_v inflict_v now_o of_o god_n upon_o you_o wherefore_o be_v not_o carry_v away_o by_o any_o man_n persuasion_n from_o the_o practise_n of_o that_o which_o above_o i_o have_v direct_v you_o unto_o but_o indeed_o the_o devil_n by_o his_o instrument_n will_v he_o ready_a to_o make_v opposition_n here_o against_o &_o this_o to_o the_o end_n that_o you_o may_v to_o your_o own_o hurt_n rest_v still_o in_o a_o say_n only_o god_n must_v be_v fear_v or_o we_o must_v fear_v god_n without_o ever_o feel_v in_o your_o heart_n for_o i_o and_o for_o my_o household_n that_o this_o lan_n be_v keep_v by_o every_o of_o my_o neighbour_n be_v it_o not_o good_a for_o they_o also_o if_o i_o and_o my_o household_n observe_v this_o law_n towards_o every_o of_o they_o thus_o if_o you_o use_v to_o question_v and_o discourse_n with_o yourself_o some_o time_n of_o one_o a_o other_o time_n of_o another_o of_o the_o commandment_n of_o god_n then_o will_v not_o only_o the_o righteousness_n of_o the_o commandment_n appear_v unto_o you_o but_o also_o your_o heart_n will_v inclyne_v within_o you_o to_o love_v the_o commandment_n even_o for_o love_v it_o bear_v to_o its_o own_o particular_a good_a which_o will_v arise_v by_o every_o man_n observe_v that_o commandment_n but_o if_o once_o your_o heart_n be_v possess_v of_o love_n to_o the_o commandment_n then_o will_v love_v not_o only_o make_v the_o observation_n of_o the_o commandment_n easy_a but_o also_o it_o will_v breed_v even_o a_o delight_n in_o you_o to_o keep_v that_o commandment_n in_o your_o action_n and_o conversation_n with_o man_n learn_v therefore_o to_o love_v the_o righteousness_n which_o be_v in_o a_o commandment_n and_o then_o assure_v yourself_o that_o you_o will_v be_v the_o ready_a of_o inclination_n both_o to_o love_v and_o also_o to_o observe_v the_o commandment_n its_o self_n at_o any_o hand_n therefore_o be_v not_o negligent_a of_o your_o passion_n or_o affection_n but_o rather_o careful_o endeavour_v that_o you_o fall_v in_o love_n of_o the_o commandment_n for_o unless_o one_o passion_n or_o affection_n be_v move_v there_o will_v not_o any_o other_o be_v move_v for_o the_o ease_n of_o the_o observation_n i_o mean_v unless_o your_o love_n unto_o the_o commandment_n be_v win_v there_o will_v be_v no_o delight_n in_o the_o of_o a_o commandment_n easy_a wherefore_o as_o you_o open_v unto_o yourself_o by_o discourse_n in_o meditation_n the_o righteousness_n and_o the_o good_a which_o will_v come_v to_o every_o man_n be_v this_o of_o this_o commandment_n observe_v by_o every_o man_n be_v then_o also_o careful_a of_o your_o heart_n affection_n observe_v whether_o it_o yield_v in_o you_o to_o love_n and_o delight_n in_o such_o a_o righteousness_n or_o such_o a_o good_a for_o if_o the_o good_a do_v upon_o evidence_n thereof_o unto_o yourself_o prevail_v over_o your_o heart_n to_o move_v it_o to_o like_a or_o love_v such_o good_a then_o for_o love_n of_o the_o good_a the_o commandment_n also_o will_v thenceforth_o be_v belove_v and_o delight_v in_o but_o every_o commandment_n tend_v to_o show_v we_o our_o duty_n either_o to_o god_n or_o to_o our_o neighbour_n we_o must_v not_o rest_v in_o consider_v the_o righteousness_n and_o good_a of_o those_o commandment_n only_o which_o concern_v our_o duty_n towards_o man_n but_o we_o must_v consider_v the_o righteousness_n and_o good_a of_o those_o commandment_n also_o which_o show_v we_o our_o duty_n towards_o god_n now_o to_o make_v ourselves_o discern_v the_o righteousness_n of_o these_o commandment_n which_o show_v we_o our_o duty_n towards_o god_n it_o will_v be_v needful_a that_o we_o consider_v he_o even_o god_n that_o give_v the_o commandment_n endeavour_v for_o his_o excellency_n and_o for_o the_o invaluable_a good_a he_o do_v we_o to_o confess_v unto_o he_o free_o say_v lord_n thoâ—_n be_v worthy_a that_o i_o do_v this_o or_o this_o in_o thy_o worship_n and_o service_n for_o do_v we_o not_o see_v in_o daily_a experience_n that_o the_o greatness_n of_o a_o commander_n and_o the_o good_a we_o receive_v by_o he_o make_v we_o even_o to_o love_v his_o very_a service_n therefore_o we_o shall_v be_v the_o proan_a to_o acknowledge_v and_o love_v the_o righteousness_n of_o those_o commandment_n which_o show_v we_o our_o duty_n towards_o god_n if_o we_o use_v ourselves_o sometime_o to_o lay_v to_o heart_n the_o excellency_n of_o god_n and_o the_o good_a which_o we_o receive_v of_o his_o hand_n this_o do_v therefore_o but_o do_v it_o not_o with_o that_o superficial_a generality_n of_o confession_n which_o common_o man_n use_v they_o confess_v god_n greatness_n and_o excellency_n and_o that_o all_o good_a be_v of_o he_o but_o without_o evaer_fw-mi lay_v to_o heart_n any_o one_o particular_a of_o either_o for_o they_o never_o consider_v the_o excellency_n or_o greatness_n of_o god_n in_o any_o one_o particular_a thing_n neither_o do_v they_o in_o particular_a consider_v any_o one_o good_a confess_v it_o to_o be_v good_a and_o then_o believe_v withal_o in_o their_o heart_n that_o it_o be_v of_o god_n indeed_o and_o not_o of_o nature_n or_o of_o man_n only_o but_o now_o if_o you_o do_v sometime_o by_o one_o another_o time_n by_o another_o of_o god_n commandment_n as_o i_o have_v above_o direct_v you_o then_o will_v the_o righteousness_n and_o goodness_n of_o god_n commandment_n so_o appear_v unto_o your_o spirit_n and_o heart_n as_o that_o even_o for_o love_n unto_o such_o righteousness_n and_o such_o good_a your_o heart_n and_o spirit_n will_v yield_v in_o you_o to_o love_v the_o commandment_n itself_o also_o and_o a_o commandment_n love_v be_v with_o delight_n of_o heart_n also_o observe_v therefore_o get_v to_o love_v any_o commandment_n and_o then_o be_v assure_v that_o the_o observation_n of_o that_o commandment_n will_v be_v not_o only_o easy_a but_o even_o a_o delight_n also_o unto_o you_o i_o can_v willing_o here_o for_o a_o furtherance_n both_o of_o your_o apprehension_n of_o the_o righteousness_n and_o good_a of_o god_n commandment_n and_o also_o of_o your_o dislike_n or_o hatred_n of_o those_o false_a good_n which_o wicked_a man_n do_v flatter_v themselves_o of_o have_v write_v particular_o of_o each_o of_o the_o lord_n commandment_n show_v both_o the_o righteousness_n and_o good_a thereof_o and_o also_o the_o unrighteousness_n and_o hurt_v of_o the_o seem_a good_a which_o the_o transgressor_n of_o those_o commandment_n soothe_v themselves_o up_o in_o but_o the_o commandment_n be_v many_o as_o branch_a themselves_o not_o only_o into_o all_o our_o outward_a action_n but_o also_o unto_o the_o inward_a action_n of_o the_o mind_n and_o this_o life_n punish_v with_o a_o final_a cast_v away_o or_o reprobation_n and_o in_o the_o life_n to_o come_v with_o a_o keep_n man_n in_o a_o eternal_a live_n in_o pain_n in_o torment_n gnash_v of_o tooth_n word_n and_o never_o quenchable_a burn_v therefore_o though_o occasion_n unto_o sin_n may_v offer_v themselves_o daily_o unto_o you_o yet_o put_v on_o a_o settle_n of_o your_o mind_n to_o keep_v god_n law_n animate_v yourself_o thereto_o by_o the_o invaluable_a benefit_n of_o obedience_n and_o fright_v yourself_o from_o sin_n by_o set_v before_o yourself_o with_o faith_n the_o fearful_a punishment_n of_o disobedience_n and_o join_v herewithal_o a_o invocate_a of_o god_n assistance_n and_o then_o you_o shall_v sure_o much_o the_o more_o easy_o yea_o not_o without_o delight_n feel_v this_o a_o very_a powerful_a mean_n of_o keep_v the_o commandment_n of_o god_n to_o which_o if_o you_o join_v a_o desire_n of_o heart_n and_o prayer_n unto_o god_n that_o you_o may_v discover_v the_o goodness_n and_o utility_n of_o his_o law_n pray_v with_o the_o prophet_n that_o god_n teach_v you_o his_o statute_n that_o he_o open_v your_o eye_n that_o you_o may_v see_v the_o wonder_n of_o fair_a or_o beautiful_a woman_n in_o our_o company_n to_o be_v dishonest_a with_o we_o as_o that_o there_o be_v need_n that_o god_n send_v upon_o we_o either_o dejection_n of_o estate_n or_o else_o infirmity_n of_o body_n that_o so_o even_o of_o disability_n to_o be_v any_o long_a bold_a to_o commit_v such_o sin_n we_o may_v both_o turn_v in_o our_o heart_n from_o do_v such_o evil_a and_o also_o
