priesthood_n say_v to_o be_v everlasting_a yet_o that_o be_v end_v as_o all_o who_o know_v and_o acknowledge_v the_o gospel_n will_v confess_v but_o this_o be_v say_v to_o be_v everlasting_a because_o it_o shall_v endure_v for_o ever_o in_o heaven_n it_o shall_v stand_v to_o eternity_n for_o if_o we_o may_v suppose_v any_o time_n when_o this_o covenant_n may_v be_v break_v we_o may_v suppose_v a_o possibility_n of_o fall_v from_o god_n even_o from_o the_o state_n of_o glory_n but_o the_o ground_n of_o assurance_n for_o the_o saint_n eternal_a stand_n and_o not_o fall_v after_o they_o come_v to_o the_o perfect_a glory_n as_o the_o angel_n fall_v be_v in_o this_o everlasting_a covenant_n where_o the_o eternal_a blessedness_n be_v contain_v and_o promise_v to_o the_o saint_n god_n have_v promise_v and_o swear_v that_o he_o will_v not_o lie_v to_o david_n viz._n to_o christ_n in_o this_o covenant_n object_n this_o covenant_n be_v say_v to_o be_v make_v with_o the_o house_n of_o israel_n viz._n with_o believer_n after_o they_o believe_v and_o not_o before_o believe_v therefore_o it_o do_v not_o so_o clear_o appear_v that_o god_n do_v work_v all_o in_o and_o for_o the_o saint_n by_o virtue_n of_o the_o covenant_n but_o they_o be_v first_o to_o believe_v and_o then_o god_n enter_v into_o covenant_n with_o they_o answ_n it_o be_v true_a on_o one_o account_n it_o be_v so_o but_o not_o on_o the_o account_n suppose_v for_o the_o house_n of_o israel_n must_v be_v consider_v either_o 1_o as_o the_o natural_a israel_n or_o 2_o as_o believer_n or_o 3_o the_o elect_a in_o have_v a_o interest_n in_o person_n and_o that_o by_o virtue_n of_o this_o covenant_n before_o they_o believe_v yet_o we_o can_v claim_v any_o interest_n or_o right_n before_o and_o without_o faith_n therefore_o we_o may_v true_o say_v as_o the_o prophet_n psal_n 41._o 11._o by_o this_o i_o know_v thou_o favour_v i_o because_o my_o enemy_n triumph_v not_o over_o i_o so_o i_o say_v we_o come_v to_o know_v our_o interest_n the_o incovenant_n by_o the_o work_n he_o have_v wrought_v in_o we_o therefore_o have_v the_o lord_n wrought_v the_o work_n of_o faith_n and_o hope_v in_o god_n through_o jesus_n christ_n and_o this_o attend_v with_o self_n loathe_v and_o a_o sense_n of_o spiritual_a poverty_n and_o adhere_v to_o and_o depend_v upon_o the_o rich_a grace_n of_o god_n in_o christ_n crucify_v and_o this_o attend_v with_o a_o true_a desire_n and_o endeavour_v of_o live_v to_o god_n and_o answer_v of_o his_o goodness_n i_o say_v if_o this_o law_n of_o god_n be_v thus_o write_v by_o the_o spirit_n in_o your_o heart_n you_o may_v comfortable_o conclude_v your_o interest_n in_o the_o covenant_n for_o i_o say_v you_o must_v come_v to_o conclude_v your_o interest_n in_o the_o covenant_n from_o the_o work_n of_o the_o spirit_n in_o you_o that_o answer_v the_o term_n of_o the_o covenant_n and_o hold_v harmony_n to_o what_o god_n have_v promise_v in_o the_o covenant_n i_o say_v not_o that_o this_o work_n within_o be_v the_o ground_n of_o our_o be_v in_o the_o covenant_n nor_o the_o cause_n nor_o the_o ground_n of_o our_o faith_n but_o a_o demonstration_n of_o our_o interest_n there_o all_o be_v ground_v upon_o the_o free_a and_o everlasting_a love_n of_o god_n in_o christ_n use_v 2._o but_o i_o shall_v proceed_v to_o a_o second_o word_n of_o application_n to_o the_o saint_n interest_v in_o this_o covenant_n and_o that_o be_v a_o word_n of_o exhortation_n to_o be_v faithful_a to_o god_n in_o live_v the_o life_n of_o the_o new_a covenant_n and_o perform_v the_o duty_n thereof_o not_o only_o to_o rejoice_v in_o the_o sweetness_n and_o comfort_n of_o the_o covenant_n but_o likewise_o to_o be_v as_o willing_a to_o be_v find_v faithful_a in_o perform_v the_o duty_n of_o the_o covenant_n for_o we_o be_v to_o know_v that_o god_n have_v annex_v duty_n to_o the_o covenant_n and_o do_v as_o positive_o require_v and_o expect_v the_o performance_n thereof_o in_o the_o life_n of_o the_o covenant_n as_o he_o have_v and_o do_v work_v his_o people_n into_o a_o capacity_n thereof_o therefore_o remember_v this_o that_o god_n goodness_n and_o absoluteness_n in_o the_o covenant_n no_o whit_n diminish_v the_o saint_n duty_n but_o rather_o support_v and_o engage_v thereunto_o in_o this_o place_n i_o shall_v not_o come_v to_o state_n the_o do_v it_o but_o as_o privilege_v only_o and_o not_o also_o as_o duty_n i_o do_v believe_v much_o may_v be_v enjoy_v of_o god_n and_o receive_v from_o he_o if_o there_o be_v more_o conscience_n of_o duty_n to_o he_o doubtless_o if_o a_o son_n will_v submit_v to_o his_o father_n only_o upon_o the_o account_n of_o privilege_n and_o liberty_n and_o not_o of_o duty_n and_o own_o this_o as_o his_o principle_n he_o will_v just_o deserve_v frown_v and_o reproof_n from_o his_o father_n and_o in_o this_o case_n will_v doubtless_o be_v often_o find_v in_o neglect_n of_o duty_n whence_o be_v it_o that_o profess_v man_n and_o woman_n can_v so_o easy_o and_o ordinary_o slip_v by_o and_o pass_v over_o duty_n but_o because_o they_o suppose_v it_o not_o to_o be_v duty_n but_o liberty_n and_o at_o
