they_o have_v copartnership_n fellowship_n and_o be_v herein_o as_o i_o may_v say_v heir_n in_o gavel-kinde_n and_o let_v this_o be_v for_o the_o first_o question_n viz._n what_o be_v the_o thing_n wherein_o all_o the_o saint_n and_o people_n of_o christ_n be_v one_o the_o second_o be_v what_o be_v the_o band_n that_o do_v tie_v all_o the_o saint_n 3._o and_o people_n of_o christ_n thus_o together_o sure_o it_o must_v needs_o be_v some_o strange_a genius_n of_o government_n union_n that_o must_v be_v able_a to_o keep_v in_o one_o such_o infinite_a multitude_n so_o differ_v in_o their_o keep_v thus_o in_o unity_n unless_o you_o allow_v some_o visible_a head_n that_o may_v have_v a_o visible_a government_n over_o all_o and_o upon_o who_o judgement_n and_o decision_n all_o must_v so_o there_o be_v other_o from_o principle_n of_o a_o corrupt_a heart_n i_o shall_v only_o name_v they_o and_o indeed_o name_v they_o be_v sufficient_a to_o convince_v they_o for_o no_o man_n dare_v take_v upon_o he_o to_o justify_v they_o yet_o name_v they_o must_v be_v for_o they_o be_v as_o mischievous_a as_o the_o other_o first_o self-seeker_n therefore_o all_o self-lover_n and_o self-seeker_n with_o who_o all_o other_o in_o their_o affection_n and_o spirit_n be_v regard_v only_o as_o they_o can_v make_v use_n of_o they_o we_o know_v that_o if_o the_o member_n of_o the_o body_n be_v thus_o affect_v the_o whole_a body_n will_v soon_o perish_v private-wealths-man_n be_v never_o good_a commonwealths-man_n paul_n exhort_v the_o saint_n not_o to_o look_v upon_o our_o own_o thing_n 4._o but_o every_o man_n on_o the_o thing_n of_o other_o else_o it_o be_v impossible_a but_o we_o must_v divide_v from_o they_o plutarch_n as_o our_o private_a interest_n lead_v we_o this_o self-seeking_a ruin_a and_o overthrow_v carthage_n and_o the_o other_o of_o seek_v the_o public-weal_n build_v up_o rome_n and_o so_o be_v it_o in_o our_o great_a and_o spiritual_a commonwealth_n second_o spirit_n all_o proud_a insolent_a arrogant_a high-minded_a man_n who_o must_v have_v rule_n and_o bear_v sway_n where_o ever_o they_o come_v or_o who_o use_n to_o despise_v and_o contemn_v other_o i_o have_v no_o need_n of_o thou_o full_a of_o themselves_o and_o slight_v of_o other_o this_o spirit_n of_o pride_n be_v a_o curse_a root_n bring_v forth_o heresy_n schism_n contention_n and_o every_o evil_a work_n the_o first_o rent_n which_o ever_o be_v in_o god_n family_n be_v the_o pride_n of_o the_o angel_n and_o ever_o since_o it_o have_v bear_v the_o like_a fruit_n example_n be_v innumerable_a cain_n esau_n corah_n dathan_n etc._n etc._n three_o spirit_n all_o quarrelsome_a rail_a froward_a spirit_n who_o upon_o every_o dissent_n from_o they_o in_o any_o opinion_n or_o in_o matter_n of_o conversation_n fall_v into_o rail_a language_n brand_a other_o with_o odious_a term_n seek_v to_o make_v they_o infamous_a and_o hateful_a rail_v never_o cure_v error_n or_o infirmity_n but_o keep_v division_n open_a and_o make_v the_o breach_n wide_a truth_n and_o love_n join_v together_o may_v work_v great_a thing_n but_o truth_n and_o bitterness_n can_v do_v little_a four_o busybody_n and_o so_o be_v all_o busybody_n who_o must_v have_v a_o oar_n in_o every_o man_n boat_n who_o can_v be_v content_a to_o keep_v within_o their_o own_o call_n 3._o but_o as_o the_o apostle_n express_v their_o nature_n in_o this_o text_n be_v wise_a 15._o or_o think_v more_o high_o of_o themselves_o than_o they_o ought_v to_o think_v all_o these_o polypragmatical_a spirit_n which_o delight_n to_o be_v bishop_n in_o all_o man_n diocese_n be_v dangerous_a person_n nothing_o more_o divide_v or_o rend_v the_o body_n than_o when_o the_o member_n keep_v not_o to_o their_o own_o work_n and_o fiftly_o all_o factious_a people_n who_o where_o ever_o they_o come_v will_v be_v make_v party_n spirit_n though_o it_o may_v be_v they_o draw_v they_o not_o into_o a_o new_a church_n yet_o divide_v into_o several_a party_n some_o for_o paul_n and_o some_o for_o apollo_n and_o some_o for_o another_o and_o all_o that_o be_v but_o to_o make_v themselves_o seem_v some_o body_n and_o serve_v their_o own_o belly_n paul_n often_o complain_v of_o such_o kind_n of_o man_n these_o carnal_a man_n make_v the_o schism_n in_o corinth_n of_o these_o he_o admonish_v the_o roman_n mark_v they_o who_o cause_n division_n and_o offence_n contrary_a to_o the_o doctrine_n which_o you_o have_v learned_a 12._o and_o avoid_v they_o for_o they_o that_o be_v such_o serve_v not_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n 17._o but_o their_o own_o belly_n a_o very_o sad_a sentence_n six_o schismatic_n and_o last_o all_o they_o who_o spirit_n carry_v they_o to_o foment_n and_o cherish_v such_o as_o make_v rent_n and_o division_n who_o not_o only_o bear_v with_o such_o as_o we_o will_v bear_v with_o a_o disease_n so_o bear_v with_o as_o yet_o to_o lance_v it_o and_o seek_v to_o cure_v it_o but_o delight_n in_o they_o as_o to_o make_v they_o the_o man_n of_o their_o counsel_n and_o confederacy_n and_o thereby_o do_v harden_v they_o in_o their_o way_n expose_v themselves_o unto_o snare_n and_o occasion_v other_o who_o be_v weak_a to_o incline_v to_o these_o divider_n all_o these_o some_o from_o one_o principle_n other_o from_o another_o help_v to_o rend_v and_o divide_v that_o wherein_o they_o all_o agree_v there_o will_v be_v find_v so_o much_o truth_n embrace_v by_o all_o the_o people_n of_o god_n which_o will_v bring_v they_o all_o to_o salvation_n be_v real_o believe_v which_o the_o lord_n have_v give_v to_o tie_v they_o all_o together_o which_o band_n on_o our_o part_n as_o you_o have_v hear_v before_o be_v the_o grace_n of_o love_n and_o therefore_o the_o break_n off_o of_o love_n among_o christian_n whether_o it_o be_v from_o all_o the_o church_n or_o from_o a_o particular_a church_n yea_o or_o from_o a_o particular_a man_n i_o say_v the_o dissolve_v or_o break_v of_o this_o spiritual_a band_n have_v in_o it_o the_o very_a intrinsical_a nature_n of_o the_o sin_n of_o schism_n the_o lord_n have_v appoint_v that_o grace_n to_o be_v the_o band_n to_o tie_v his_o people_n together_o but_o because_o the_o inward_a band_n be_v invisible_a and_o therefore_o not_o easy_a to_o judge_v of_o therefore_o there_o be_v a_o second_o thing_n in_o schism_n and_o that_o be_v a_o deny_v or_o withdraw_a from_o the_o exercise_n of_o those_o thing_n which_o christ_n have_v give_v as_o the_o symbol_n or_o pledge_n of_o love_n among_o his_o people_n as_o converse_v together_o pray_v together_o hear_v together_o confer_v together_o receive_v sacrament_n and_o the_o like_a together_o the_o withdraw_n from_o these_o or_o the_o deny_n of_o these_o otherwise_o than_o jesus_n christ_n direct_v in_o his_o word_n these_o thing_n be_v visible_a and_o therefore_o divine_v use_n to_o appropriate_v the_o name_n of_o schism_n to_o such_o withdrawing_n or_o deny_n which_o indeed_o be_v but_o the_o fruit_n of_o the_o other_o for_o the_o dissolve_n of_o the_o band_n of_o love_n be_v the_o root_n of_o the_o disease_n and_o the_o deny_n of_o the_o expression_n and_o exercise_v of_o love_n be_v the_o bitter_a fruit_n grow_v from_o that_o evil_a root_n so_o then_o he_o or_o they_o who_o ever_o they_o be_v that_o do_v deny_v to_o exercise_v or_o withdraw_v from_o the_o exercise_n of_o those_o thing_n
of_o schism_n from_o their_o principle_n of_o judgement_n their_o principle_n of_o judgement_n carry_v they_o to_o the_o practice_n of_o that_o which_o be_v a_o rend_n of_o the_o church_n other_o though_o their_o principle_n of_o judgement_n be_v right_a yet_o be_v schismatical_a be_v through_o principle_n of_o a_o corrupt_a heart_n and_o spirit_n i_o shall_v speak_v to_o both_o these_o but_o principal_o to_o the_o first_o sort_n first_o all_o those_o who_o erroneous_a judgement_n make_v they_o schismatical_a as_o i_o conceive_v may_v all_o be_v bring_v to_o these_o four_o first_o call_v independency_n proper_o so_o call_v be_v one_o of_o the_o high_a principle_n of_o schism_n all_o such_o christian_n whether_o they_o be_v single_a person_n or_o associate_v body_n yea_o though_o all_o the_o christian_n in_o a_o nation_n associate_v into_o a_o body_n do_v look_v upon_o themselves_o as_o absolute_a and_o independent_a from_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o church_n of_o christ_n with_o who_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o church_n of_o christ_n have_v nothing_o to_o do_v this_o i_o say_v be_v one_o of_o the_o high_a principle_n of_o schism_n in_o the_o world_n but_o do_v not_o mistake_v i_o i_o know_v there_o be_v some_o call_v and_o brand_v with_o the_o name_n of_o independency_n who_o profess_v they_o abhor_v both_o the_o name_n and_o thing_n i_o mean_v such_o as_o conceive_v that_o a_o particular_a church_n have_v all_o power_n in_o itself_o and_o that_o no_o other_o assembly_n can_v authoritative_o call_v they_o to_o a_o account_n so_o as_o to_o dissolve_v their_o sentence_n or_o excommunicate_v they_o because_o they_o conceive_v that_o the_o government_n of_o the_o church_n be_v not_o place_v in_o synod_n or_o in_o any_o other_o assembly_n then_o that_o of_o a_o particular_a congregation_n yet_o ready_o acknowledge_v that_o themselves_o be_v but_o part_n of_o the_o church_n and_o aught_o to_o be_v countable_a to_o the_o church_n of_o christ_n for_o their_o way_n and_o that_o if_o upon_o brotherly_a counsel_n give_v by_o other_o church_n they_o reform_v not_o they_o may_v and_o aught_o to_o withdraw_v from_o all_o christian_a communion_n with_o they_o whether_o own_o constitution_n or_o way_n of_o association_n into_o church-order_n that_o they_o condemn_v all_o the_o other_o assembly_n throughout_o the_o world_n as_o no_o church_n of_o christ_n because_o they_o be_v not_o model_v and_o mould_v according_a to_o the_o platform_n of_o their_o own_o particular_a church-order_n and_o association_n i_o do_v not_o deny_v but_o it_o be_v possible_a that_o some_o of_o god_n people_n may_v have_v some_o such_o great_a mistake_n lie_v upon_o they_o that_o they_o can_v possible_o join_v in_o all_o christian_a ordinance_n with_o any_o congregation_n in_o the_o world_n as_o the_o convert_a christian_a jew_n while_o they_o be_v under_o that_o apprehension_n that_o no_o man_n ought_v to_o be_v own_v but_o he_o that_o be_v circumcise_v i_o say_v as_o
